Nice game. I like the switch-up to upside down, makes it much more challenging. There is a bit of a jarring pause when you start a game but before the countdown - like 3 or so seconds - this really kills the pace as you have to wait relatively long to start again.

creativewhisper 2017-12-04 08:45

Your aproach to the theme is a bit meh, and i feel the jump control not very responsive. The levels are very difficult, i cannot survive more than a few seconds. The graphics are interesting.

jk5000 2017-12-04 09:08

The game idea is really simple and the game is easy to learn to play. The graphics is very cute and that is good. I would really have liked some fast past music for this kind of game. But overall a well made little game.

shelvid 2017-12-04 10:56

Pretty fun game, would love to play more but the beginning countdown is absolutely annoying. visual is really nice to look at. nice game!

sholf 2017-12-04 12:32

That little blob is so adorable. It's a simple and fun game, though the short pause between the "3-2-1" countdown is quite annoying.

snake5 2017-12-04 18:40

Since everyone's already said what I wanted to say (countdown pause, difficulty, jump control), here's a publishing tip: it is usually not necessary to have both 32-bit and 64-bit builds for Windows. Both versions of the OS can run 32-bit applications. They're also smaller than their 64-bit counterparts.

navot 2017-12-04 18:52

The graphics are really great, and the few times I managed to survive for a bit, it was actually good fun, but I strongly agree with everybody else who said that the starting countdown is bad. Since you don't have any obstacles right at the beginning anyway, it isn't really necessary.

For me, the end screen message was buggy, and looked like this [this](///raw/ee1/3/z/ba38.png)

yancouto 2017-12-05 17:52

Any chance of a linux executable? (Wine didn't work)

persikan 2017-12-05 17:53

@yancouto I'll see if I can upload a linux and mac version :D

gassasin 2017-12-05 17:55

Damn cool game with potential! You could change counting down on start of layout to press anything to instant start. Very hard in good way :D Have You considering port on mobile devices?:D

persikan 2017-12-05 17:57

@gassasin I haven't but that's a cool suggestion! Will continue developing the game after the results, might do it then!

gassasin 2017-12-05 18:03

@persikan I think its perfect game for mobiles! Nice work and respect!:D

robotsandmuffins 2017-12-05 18:44

Art is clean but cute. Also, random selected levels is a good point. I found it a little bit difficult to get over first levels. But fun, anyway!

noaim91 2017-12-05 19:03

make a handy app out of it. Thats hot shit.

persikan 2017-12-05 19:04

@robotsandmuffins I'll keep that in mind for the post-jam remake :D

dudum-lare 2017-12-05 19:47

Persikan!! I have played your game for a long time now and I’m not even getting close to your highscore. I’ll keep playing until I get like at least 1337420 points. I’ll tell you when I get there in school.

Anyways I like the graphics it looks pretty good, the character is cute and looks a little bit as my brother.

Concerning the audio, I don’t remember what i was supposed to say, I’ll hit you up when I remember.

The countdown is too long btw ;) Where’s my restart button though?

Overall I like this game very much. I had an amazing time playing it. And I’m definitely going back to play this game tomorrow. It’s kind of addicting, what have you done to me??? Thank you so much for this experience and good luck in the future! Have an awesome day, and I hope to see you in the next jam!

Persikan, you really have a good eye for design and aesthetics! It's a fairly simple concept, not much explanation but rather you get straight into the gameplay. So there's no need for further explanations besides the instructions you provided. It's clear from the get go that 'things' are to be picked up and the springs used for pushing. Only issue I had was that when it turned upsidedown, Down didn't mean down on the screen.... but that's my brain beeing slow. Damn you brain! ;D You've really incorporated the theme and like the others here said, consider porting it to mobile and look into procedural generation of the levels + see if you can speed up the tempo. (Shorter delay between attempts)

Also, consider adding a web version. It would be perfect for this size of a game and it might help you get more reviews since it's a click'n'play type of thing. Gonna be fun to see what you do with the upcoming themes! :)

And if you're bored and got absolutely nothing to do, me and my friends would love it if you would stop by and give us some pointers for our game too. And who knows, maybe we'll add peaches in our next game! ;) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/paperwork

persikan 2017-12-05 20:18

@nightsong I will definitely look into porting it to mobile and improving the level-generation. I've actually come up with a few more ideas that I may implement in the remake as well! :D

I'll check out your game tomorrow since it's getting kinda late and I need to go to school tomorrow. It looks interesting from what I've seen on your page!

Peaches would suit any game I would say, so go for it! xD

persikan 2017-12-05 20:22

@dudum-lare Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, I wanted to have the countdown fit with the beat. But I realize now when playing it again that it's a little too long(plus nothing else fits in with the beat so).

As for the restart button, did you not see the github note? :smirk:

yancouto 2017-12-05 20:24

Great game! Very well rounded, doesn't look like a jam game. It's really small and simple, as other people said would be great for mobile. Pretty hard, but I liked that. (The linux version worked perfectly)

persikan 2017-12-05 20:28

@yancouto Thank you! :D

Good that the Linux version worked! I was a little worried since I use windows!

krassenstein 2017-12-06 11:20

For your first game, this was awesome! It could use a little bit of polish. The barely touching an edge and dying mechanic in a sudo-platformer is kind of frustrating. Aside from that, wonderful job! Hope you continue working on it!

cklidify 2017-12-06 12:00

I like the idea, and the art is nice, my only issue was that there wasn't much leeway with the jumps. Like I would land on the ledge just barely but I would still die. This problem is a lot more apparent in tighter areas.

azathothep 2017-12-06 12:20

This game is simple and cool , i like the fact level is random and endless. Graphic are cool even if the blob moving has...strange animation :( Also the fact only one key is required to play is cool

However : - The game is a little bit too hard , even at the begin - The countdown is REALLY annoying and spoil the whole game because it's too long : imo in a Try & Die game you don't have to make wait the player - I couldnt test sound (if you had it)

persikan 2017-12-06 21:50

@krassenstein & @cklidify Yeah I could definitely see how that would be frustrating, haha. I'll have to look into it when I make the remake! :D

Thx for the feedback!

persikan 2017-12-06 21:55

@azathothep Did the sound not play or was it something else? 'Cause I did have sound :/

Many said that the countdown is too long, so that'll definitely change when I remake the game!

Thank you for the feedback!

clayzulah 2017-12-07 15:52

This would make a great addictive mobile game. I love the high difficulty, the level design, and the way it ties in to the theme. The aesthetics are appealing and consistent, if simple. That said, and I know you've heard this already, the countdown clock at the beginning is way too punishing, and it magnifies the frustration caused by "cheap deaths". I also think you could tweak the collision detection a bit to make it a tiny bit more forgiving - 90% of the time my deaths came from barely catching corners, and it didn't always feel like I'd "earned" my loss. Overall really excellent work, though!
