Game has an awesome action feel. Number of projectiles and splosions is very satisfying, and possibility of strafe shooting in an arc is really unique, wish I had time to perfect that!

Very Good and fits perfectly with the theme, i got 35 crystals

seppi562 2017-12-06 05:15

Controls feel bad imo. Good job :)

Overall this game is a lot of fun! I really enjoyed it! Also, thank you for adding a way to quit the game at will. Not enough people add that.

The game handled very well. Kudos!

###### Some areas you can improve upon for your next game jam:

- I played the game as it was intended to be played the first time so I could get the whole experience so I could rate you as you deserved. However, I was able to skip past everything due to the Survival Timer. Basically, all I had to do for 2 minute was out-fly the enemy. I can strafe faster than their bullets traveled, and could move faster than all the enemies. Without picking up any cargo, I won. One way to fix that is to improve the enemies combat skills. Then make Cargo something that makes the shit more robust in combat to counter them maybe at the cost of there being more enemies and your ship gets slowed as it currently does....or something lol. Make it necessary for survival to pick up the cargo, while attaching a price. - The background is too intense. It makes the game assets hard to follow. If you make the scene more subtle, it would help the eyes quite a bit.

I can feel the gravity.Pretty fun.

Great concept for the theme!

Here are some suggestions for you:

- The control of the plane feels stiff, and move backward is odd for a plane. - The enemy is not obvious to be observed.

Good job!

@elitegoliath Thank you for the constructive feedback. I agree that the background was a bit too much. I'm not sure how I could've made it more subtle. Maybe smaller stars and more spread out? Also, those are great ideas to expand the gameplay with having more cargo. It makes sense to encourage the player to collect more that has some benefit (like more firepower) and maybe another detriment (like slower acceleration). As for being a little too easy to out maneuver the enemies, I had a hard time finding a good balance in difficulty. When I'm developing a game and play it many times over, of course I get good at my own game. But, since I've gotten good at it, I lose touch with what it's like being a new player. I wanted it to be easy for most people, but maybe I did make the enemies a bit too slow and fire too infrequently.

As for everyone else, thank you for the kind comments. This was my first Ludum Dare, and I had a blast. I've learned a lot, and I look forward to the next Ludum Dare!

Oh yeah, I totally understand how that goes. When t's your game, and you know every bite of information that makes it tick, it's really hard to tell how people will be affected by the mechanics that only see what they can see. As for the starts, a little more translucent, and smaller and they would have been fine. You could add some brither stars here and there, a nebula or something, but yeah, that kind of stuff is hard to get the look and feel right for.

I did forget to mention though that I really liked the design of the ship. I very much enjoyed the way it controlled, and the aesthetics you applied to movements, such as tilting. Again, I think you did very well. Kudos!

For a first LD, great mesh models, great lightning controls and really nice particles!

The quality of the starship and gameplay is very well executed! I have no bad remarks for this entry,

Good job! :)

clachipso 2017-12-08 05:14

The controls were a bit difficult at first, but once I got the hang of them I found I could pull off some really cool moves. The control physics were definitely the highlight of the game to me.

Overall a very solid first entry!

darkgrisen 2017-12-10 02:21

I liked the controls once I figured out how to handle them. Btw, this game is a LD-wow moment!

Great job!

Great! I definitely love this one. The music hits home, the gameplay fits the game just right. I'm sure you're well aware about which parts of it may need some polishing, so I won't waste your time with that. Again, good job!

nice little game. I really like the particle effects. good job!

theloneplant 2017-12-12 08:30

The controls threw me off at first but I picked them up for the most part. I had trouble figuring out strafing left and right since it was all local translations and sometimes they would invert since the ship would be upside down. Also one minor thing is I'm playing on an ultrawide monitor so I saw a bit of the skybox behind the background, that's a nit pick but good to know in the future, since you should make the bg much larger than you think it should be, and also set the default background color just in case! Very cool little game and very calming

Great first game for a compo. I like the design of the ship and the way the cargo keeps expanding when you collect the crystals. Maybe is a bit too easy and not very challenging, it's easy to just run over the other ships and collect the crystrals, no need to be cautious or plan an strategy. A little more damage from the other ships and you will force the player to make some decisions on where to attack and where to dodge, something like that. Overall, solid work mate, keep going :-)
