A Linux Version would be great ;-)
Tried it on Linux, but i couldn't control the character. The only thing i could do was to start him walking, and pressing c for rage mode. He just kept walking in the same direction until he collided with walls.
Hey DinnerInTheDark! The SDL2.dll should be next to the executeable. The zip file should contain it. If that's not the case could you please try and redownload it?
The hitbox is quite big. I think it's mostly cause i felt they aren't much of a threat otherwise :D
I am really sorry that i can't share a mac version. I've no Mac so i don't know of a way to compile a version for it :/
Like some others said: The gameplay could be a bit more fun. I've found it especially hard to run under the giants feet. He stomped me what felt like 20 times before i made it through. But the game was otherwise great. Really awesome idea for that theme!
Cool game, was fun to play! My feedback would be that the mouse control was a bit problematic. I needed to leave the window multiple times as the mouse pointer was not fixed to the screen mid.
Pretty much what zzapp said. It was really hard to read the text. But good idea, nice game otherwise!
Linux user here. Had a crash at the startup.
Here's the first part of the error message:
OpenAL not found! Need FNA.dll.config?
[ERROR] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: System.DllNotFoundException: soft_oal.dll
Had a crash when the game started on Linux. I took a view on the log, and it couldn't find the path to "data/levels/shenzhen.oep". Turns out your folder name are starting with an uppercase letter but your code is looking for lowercase ones. And because case sensitivity matters on Linux it can't find all those folders.
Cool game idea, i think there is room to make a great game out of it!
I've found it hard to read my enemy. Part of the problem was that the camera was to closely zoomed in for me. I also couldn't anticipate what attack my enemy uses to really tell what i should counter. My best strategy was smashing all buttons randomly :D
On the minor side: The benches were buggy for me too (Graphics bug).
Thanks for taking the time to comment. It really means a lot!
@Meta-link:
Thanks!
@MessinaBrothers:
Have you picked up and "replanted" a flower? I think i maybe should've better communicated that part. Thanks for taking the time to give feedback!
Thanks guys!
@Zarkonnen:
Thanks, i have now included that lib in the download.
This game has definitely potential as it was fun! I also liked the art as it was clean and focused on the puzzles.
The only drawback were the controls. Drag and drop controls weren't intuitive. I wondered why clicking an icon doesn't do something so i read the indrkl's comment that the actions need to be dropped in the white circle. Would be great if it had keyboard control, or just icon clicking instead of drag and drop.
Like some others already said, cool use of the qr code! And that moment when the door open :D
Somewhere in my first try i found out that i could jump and jumped on the chimney and was stuck up there.
For the future maybe try to avoid mixing art styles.
Congrats on your game otherwise!
Had fun playing this! It was a bit frustrating to die at the end-boss and respawning at the start :(
I like the story progression. I don't know if i reached the end because there was a sudden restart of the game at one point.
What could be improved: - Controls relative to camera (for keyboard & gamepad) - Camera rotation (confusing cause of all the rotations)
Other than that, i think you've got a cool game going!
Great game. It reminded me a bit of Reus.
Thanks for giving the game a try! @alexhoratio
The game was also developed on Linux (Ubuntu).
What distribution are you using? I'd love to make the build work for everyone!
@icecheetah these are things (and music, gamepad) i would've loved to implement but time ran out.
Thanks for giving it a try and taking the time to give some feedback!
@alexhoratio
Thanks for responding! Actually it was/is probably a problem with me not packaging all needed libs with the game. I've updated the linux package with a few libs and it's now working on a different distribution that had problems before.
Hey guys thanks for all your feedback!
@bomb-x great ideas, thanks!
@sgstair Thanks for playing the game! It was awesome to see a video playthrough of it :grinning:
Really nice game, especially the music! The only thing i didn't like was the button smashing in the second stage. Great story :smile:
I gave it a few tries, but i didn't finish because the difficulty is way to high (for me at least). These mice are beasts! :worried:
But i like the graphics and i am interested to see more of the story!
Like the others already said, the story was really nice; and i love story games. It reminded me a bit of *"Thomas was alone"*. The game was a bit short and the interactive parts where not that interesting. I just want to add that i really like that cover! It looks just like an album cover.
This is an awesome game! I had great fun playing it and only a few things on my mind:
- A fullscreen or a maximised window mode would be great - Maybe change the walls ingame. I, for myself found them somehow distracting. - Also maybe tune the microscope effect a little bit down. - Please name your zip file (and the game folder) after your game-title. Gametitle_Linux.zip for example.
I've found a bug pretty early that one could exploit: One just needs to add a point to a trait and remove it and add again. Repeat that and the overall cost will be lowered every time. I am pretty sure it has something to do with float value rounding.
Oh and the ending was fun :grinning:
PS: Thanks for the Linux build!
@spinaljack Yeah, i've tried alt+enter because that also works for linux usally. There was no Unity Launcher for me at startup, if there should have been one?
@all: Thanks for giving the game a try!
@jfraser314: That is pretty strange. I've made a update on the windows build, but it's just a shot in the dark. If you don't mind i'd have some questions on the system you are using: - What OS are you using? - How many monitors? - What resolution?
Maybe you can launch the game from the console. There should be a printout of the game's window resolution. It should match your screen resolution? Thank you for taking the time to let me know about that problem!
@sgadrat: In my lazyness i just copied the libs from another project over^^ I've added both libs in the new build. Thanks for letting me know!
@jfraser314 High DPI should now be handled correctly. It would be great if you could let me know if that resolves the issue for you. Thanks in advance!
@jfraser314 Great! Yes it was intended, but looking back now it wouldn't have been much work to but a pause system in. Thanks for taking the time!
Just wanted to let you know that your Linux build seems to be missing the data folder. Also, it would be great if you could also rename the game folder to include your game's title.
Thanks it's now working!
I was surprised as it's pretty fun! I think i would have preferred if you would have added some sound effects instead of the music. Also shooting by holding the mouse button down would be more comfortable. Congrats on finishing a game!
I would've liked if the mouse control was a little bit slower and without smoothing. Somehow it was pretty hard to hit things. It was already mentioned, but i felt a bit lost in space. The art & audio was great by the way.
Non the less, definitely one of the best games i've seen so far - congrats!
Edit: Just wanted to mention i've played the Linux 64 bit build and had no problems (Ubuntu 16.04)!
@bentglasstube Hey thanks for the linux build! Unfortunatly it didn't run. The error message: ``` ./ld42: symbol lookup error: ./ld42: undefined symbol: SDL_RenderSetIntegerScale ```
I guess it is because i have SDL2.0.4 on my system and SDL_RenderSetIntegerScale seems to have been introduced in 2.0.5. If you would like to make it easy for users you could ship the game with the libraries next to it and link the game with ``` -Wl,-rpath=. ``` This let's the program search for libraries in the local working directory.
@zuhairghias @darkguardsman The bug should now be fixed, thanks for letting me know!
I've also uploaded help images. The only stat used for the minions are their level. I had plans to show the success chance, but not enough time.
@zuhairghias Yeah, to be honest i am not very satisfied with my result myself. I wanted to give this type of game a try, but quickly learned that it needs more mechanics than i could implement/experiment in the given timeframe. I really appreciate that you took the time to give it another try and write some feedback, thanks!
@furiouswitch I am working on linux(ubunut), so i would say so ;-)
There are probably some missing dependencies. Could you try to start the game from the terminal? You could also try to run ```ldd RUN_linux```. This will list all linked libraries and the path to them. It will also show if a library wasn't found. Which distribution to you run? I would be happy to update the linux build with the missing libraries as it also helps me with future projects!
Thanks for letting me know!
@furiouswitch I've now used a clean ubuntu 18.04 installation on virtualbox to check for missing dependencies and added them. In hindsight, i should have tested that on release day.
@furiouswitch Great points, thanks!
@tuteupaituamae Thanks!
@rik-thunder Yeah i also think that the game needs a lot more depth. The gold target (and end screen) were also last minute additions, that are set far to high. Thanks for taking the time to play and especially for making a video. It was so much fun to watch while you figure the game out!
- I like the games lighting/mood!
- The game idea is interesting, what i would've loved to have some orders or some kind of reason to craft something else than the current "best" item. What could be interesting if you get an order and the player needs craft it using 2 or 3 parts. For example: customer orders a golden ring with a red stone. Left field: golden ring - Right field: red stone.
- Also a few little sound blips would be nice.
- Like some others said the gold dropping in the buckets looked cool!
Congrats on making a good game!
There was a ``` index out of bounds ``` error after(or at the end) of the loading bar at the game's start. Used browser was Firefox (on ubuntu)
Chrome doesn't throw an error message, but is stuck with the loading bar finished.
Brave worked.
This is a great game & idea!
I don't know if it was intentional but it would be cool to not hit rocks when changing lanes. For example if i change from the left outer to the right outer, i don't want to hit rocks in the middle lanes.
Some kind of "Health" indicator would be nice too, and some kind of feedback what the tanks do.
@aurelwuensch Oh i've seen the bar at the bottom but i thought that this shows the distance that i traveled with the ship.
Would you mind building a linux version? I would love to give the game a try as the idea sounds very interesting!
I ran the game on Linux using wine. Worked pretty fine except for a tiny bit of sound crackling. I found that the collision box were a bit to big for my taste. Graphics were pretty nice, and the music was great too!
@labete Thanks for giving it a try! I would have loved to give the audio a bit more time, especially to add some music. I just need to lower the scope for my LD Games :smile:
Nice art style! Was fun to play, except for the player "dying" when colliding with obstacles. Congrats on the game!
Very cool game idea! I liked the graphics and audio, wished there would be more effect/feedback. Some kind of progression would be cool too! But i can totally understand that it's hard to achieve all this in this short timeframe. Congrats on your game!
I didn't came to far dumping the garbage was pretty much all i accomplished :laughing: Like someone else said, some tips would have been great. I could see the robot "thinking" some tips out loud. A few Audio effects, like some robot bleeps would help to convey the mood. The camera moves were great by the way! Congrats on your game!
The matching is really fun, but i didn't really get how to improve the conditions to get fish. Some kind of indication what needs to be done would be great, and also some bleeps as sound effects. The game is great, only needs some more polish. Congrats!
One of the best games i've seen so far! Graphics and Audio where awesome. The game itself was just a bit hard for my taste. Congrats on the game!
Cool game idea, i can image that it could be fun!
Honestly, it was a bit hard as a non native speaker, but i found it quite fun non the less! Maybe some kind of difficulty progression would be great, to get into some kind of flow. Congrats on your game!
@notgreat You are totally right, i didn't think about that!
I loved the animations and fun voices! Honestly i didn't make it through the double saw blades. Great game otherwise!
Cool game, had great fun playing it. I don't have much feedback, only minor thing i'd have liked to see is gliding without drag to have a way to better be able to maximize the fuel. But i can totally see that it would have made the game a bit too hard. Just a small thing, but as a Linux user, a Linux build would have been great! Congrats to your game!
I tried the game but no other players where available. The car driving was good, but the collision physics were funky. But i get that Online sync is not easy. Congrats on your Game!
Your idea has potential, i think. I liked the art style, but the controls could use some work as they are way to sensitive. Audio effects and some eating feedback would be great additions, if you decide to improve it further. Congrats on your game!
You should add a Cover Image like Pilarius said. Great first game! weebles_tower.png
I think the camera could use some improvement as i would have liked to see more of where i am going. The player having health wasn't very fun without a way to get some health back. The game is a good example what a few simple blocks can achieve, congrats on your entry!
Nice game, but a bit short. Would have loved to have another conversation at the cafe, as a reward for getting there! Oh and it was far easier after i switched to using the mouse instead. Congrats on your game!
A really great game idea! What i'd have loved is to have more time to read, and less challenge. Congrats on your game!
