Cool game  I love that the squirrel can glide. Found the last acorn by accident :D. Audio is nice, maybe lacks some background music.

@labete Thanks for giving it a try! I would have loved to give the audio a bit more time, especially to add some music. I just need to lower the scope for my LD Games
I'm playing as a squirrel that cannot climb trees. I am this squirrel on an existential level. I'm always impressed with these 3D entries, especially one made with SDL. (thanks for the Linux build BTW.)
Cute entry! You did a great job on the squirrel model and animations. I think the gliding is an awesome addition too.
A few improvements, I think for a 3D platformer, depth perception can always be tricky, having a drop shadow for the acorns (even a faked one with a texture) would make the collecting experience much smoother. Also the world felt quite big to me, instead of a spurt control, I would prefer the default speed to be 'spurt speed' and Left-Shift could be a 'walk' control instead when the player needs more control.
Overall very impressive for a jam entry, good job!
Nice 3D game. Depth perception's a bit tricky with the acorns in the air, though. I really liked the wind sound effects when jumping. A bit more work and I think this could make a nice mobile game!
There is this one acorn where you have to jump at the end of a plank to reach it. On my first playthrough I tried this about 10 times, always failing and always running all the way back to the plank. After quitting and reading the comments I realized I can glide!!! What a gamechanger
Really great work for one person in that short amount of time. The information that the squirrel can glide would have been really helpful for me also after spending an eternity to find that last acorn I was hoping to get some kind of success message but these are really small issues.
Good job & thanks for your entry :)
Fun little game ! Congrats on making such a game with OpenGL. When working on core engine features, 72 hours can go extremely fast.
Cool game, i'm impressed how much have you done in not so user friendly engine. Some nut sense (or arrow) for finding last few would be much appreciated.
While scoring i realized that it doesn't have much to do with the LD theme but i guess that is subjective.
Nice!!! It was a bit difficult to see how far away the acorns were though. I never was able to get the one at the end of the diving board
This is overall a fun little game idea. The graphics, sounds and controls is okay, but it could all have been better. Overall is this okay little jam game.
This is a fun little game! The world looks great and is fun to explore, and the animation of the squirrel running is very nice to watch. I felt like the world was massive for such a little squirrel—I might've condensed it to 3/4ths or half the size with all the assets much closer together. The controls generally feel quite good—I felt like sprinting could have been a little faster to have a more noticeable difference between it and normal speed. The glide is really fun, but again I wish it had a bit more horizontal movement to feel like more of a difference between it and normal falling. Audio-wise, I personally am not a fan of sfx that's just blowing air into the mic-I get what you were going for with the rushing of air sound, but I think that's achieved with a bit more of a whistle rather than just air blown on the mic that starts hurting the ears after a while. Overall though this was just a very pleasant and relaxing little world to explore, thanks!
It was a very cute game. I really liked the low poly squirrel.
I also have to say it's really a good thing someone mentioned there's a glide mechanic in the comments. I went back and looked at the tutorial screen once again and notice a distinct lack of any documentation for the mechanic and was extremely angry trying to get that last nut!
Otherwise, it's like most collect-a-thons, including the leap of faith collectible, which I also didn't enjoy as much. However, otherwise I had a good time playing this one. I think with a little more playing with the movement of the squirrel, you could have an interesting 3D platformer idea here.
Graphics are really good, and the engine is really impressive. It's really fun to move around, but the camera going up and down when you jump can be really jarring for the first minute or so of playing the game. The real trouble with the game is the size of the world. It's incredibly large for just 10 acorns and no enemies or any other kind of gameplay. I played the game for around 5 minutes, but I was only able to find 7 acorns. I couldn't even *see* the other 3, and I stumbled upon a couple of them by complete accident. I'm also not too sure how this has anything to do with the theme.
Fun jump, glide sounds - not really squirrelly but still fitting. Wind sound was a nice touch.
It felt weird to slow down when jumping with sprint and jump camera was a bit jarring.
Still, glide felt like the most interesting mechanic. Wished there was more verticality to provide more opportunities to glide.
Lots of content with clean graphics, big terrain with lots of assets, but felt a bit slow navigating all of it. That could be addressed either with increasing movespeed, or by having smaller horizontal area and bigger vertical.

Overall it was an interesting experience being a squirrel.
