The gameplay is not very fun, but the theme and idea is interesting. Is it even possible to kill that giant? (I tried many times and failed many times)

The walking sound effect is very annoying by the way. Also, a lot of grammatical errors in the dialogue.

If you improve the combat and add more content, power ups or something, and you could have a solid game. I really liked the idea of the kids playing in one room but imagining a whole adventure.

You can't kill him but you can walk under his feet if you quick enough!

Funny story, but the gameplay (the fighting in particular) could be improved. For example the "attack-range" of the guards is hard to guess, and so I died many unnecessary deaths.

I also tried to kill the giant at first, but after figuring it out, I think this "level" is a great idea.

Awesome design and idea for the theme- I thought that was very clever.

The giant was creative as well- running under his feet. Great work here- I think you nailed the theme well

Keep up the good work and congrats submitting a game to the jam- thats half the battle- you can only get better from here!

I agree with some of the other criticism about hit areas and how to make it more fun. Take it and learn from it, dont let it get you down. You are very creative

I find it very enjoyable for sure! Good concept . Yes maybe fighting and animations could be better but hell yeah its a compo game. I love the wall art you have added to game. All an all a very cool game. Idea is super cool too!

One of the best uses of the theme I seen! graphics were alright, a bit generic. Wasn't much to the gameplay you could just spam sword attack to pass.

Cute idea, I specially liked the narrative and how it works around the theme. Gameplay lacked a little bit.

hawksandwich 2016-12-15 19:12

The concept is nice, but the game really lacks polish. You can walk behind things that should be in the background, the footstep sound continues to play when you go into a new room, among other things. I feel more time should have been spent fixing bugs than making content, but if it were more polished this would be a much better game :) Nonetheless, good entry

Great idea for tying the game in to the theme. I love when it cuts back to the room.

Like some others said: The gameplay could be a bit more fun. I've found it especially hard to run under the giants feet. He stomped me what felt like 20 times before i made it through. But the game was otherwise great. Really awesome idea for that theme!

oh! Nice! Can I find it on indiexpo? I'm making videos about the games of this Jam, but only about the games hosted also on indiexpo! Tell me if you will add it, so I can include it in my next video ;)

I add my game also on Indiexpo thanks for positive feedback and comments this is my first ludum dare and i can't wait for next LD :)

The idea is really great, but I don't think the king's assassination is a good game for kids) The King seems to be normal guy

darenn 2016-12-18 13:11

Very nice idea ! It fits, there is just one room. :p I had sort of bug with the sound of steps that looped when I was entering another level sometimes.
Keep creating games !

kevin_b 2016-12-18 13:15

This game needs better graphics, better audio and bug fixing.
But I like the story.

diplodino 2016-12-19 16:56

Cute and clever interpretation of the theme!

seano 2016-12-21 20:50

Great stuff, liked the story and was fun to play. It could be much more solid technically such as hit boxes and draw order but overall I liked it

handoharken 2016-12-21 20:51

Love your idea for the theme, very cute concept. I feel as though the player should be able to appear in front of certain objects.

I love how some of the cutscenes shift between the room the brothers are in and the scenes they are imagining themselves in. That was a neat touch, and I actually would have liked to see more of that. The story overall seemed fine in itself; two brothers playing with their imagination in their bedroom.

Some issues that I found that some others may have addressed, but here:

- The walking sound effect constantly loops when I am walking and a cutscene is initiated. It also loops when I'm not walking and I attack an enemy and kill them. Thankfully, the sound effects stopped when I was able to walk again.
- Walking sound effects play while jumping.
- It seems that you can jump successfully while running. For that one part with the pits, I had paused to let the enemy turn around, but the key did not respond to my jump. I ended up making a run for it and thankfully, the guard did not get there at the same time I did.
- Maybe a bit of a personal preference, but it would be nice to also have the arrow keys for moving and jumping alongside WASD.

I think overall, you had a really good premise that can use more polish. :D

I like how the narrative fits into the game, like how you play some screens (the game play make me think of limbo or oddworld games, with trial and error platforming in a world with progression and a lot of check points), and then have the narration in between. I agree that the game play could be more developed but I really like the flow between game play and story, its pretty hard to create :)

I wanted to try the game but it prompted for admin access through the UAC prompt when trying to run on win 10 and that put me off, as I didn't know why it would need that. So did not try Call me paranoid, but a stand alone build would be better
