LD46 — Keep it alive

Wanted: Alive! by Dan Colman 2020-05-10T07:07:51Z

Great game! Tightly executed! I loved the western theme with the surrealist touch of the black hole in the ground. Really well done! Great sound choice, and interesting animations with the explosions and the boxes falling into the abyss. If I were to nit pick, the movement felt a bit erratic, sometimes it'll dash sometimes it doesn't a bit. I had lots of fun playing this, would love to see more levels and puzzles for this! Great work! - J

Really fun game! Good twist on the theme, thought it would of been nice if you could have incorporated it in other ways as well. Excellent graphics art and play, definitely something you could expand on. Great little Game! - S

Blood and Snow by Mika la Grand 2020-05-02T11:24:06Z

Beautiful visuals with the minimal palette! I particularly enjoyed seeing the trees grow into chop-worthy sizes. Maybe the difficulty balance was off, but after a while I decided it was easier to wait out in the cabin than go into the cold. So maybe if the rate of meat/wood consumption was faster could propel the character to go out more? Nice work overall! - J

Very pretty! I liked the way you did the night effect, it was really effective. I found it a bit monotonous and not very challenging. I decided to see if I could find the edge of the map (which I did, but died shortly after). Great little contained experience, I like the family element too (not just survival for your own sake). Solid effort! - S

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-05-10T09:37:44Z

Great sense of atmosphere! The visuals and sound all build to that sense of urgency. I wasn't too sure if the sustained damage or when the virus things attacked, I assumed it did. But I started to feel a bit invincible after a while and felt like a bad ass noir hero in a gun fight. Nice work! - J

Good work! Really liked the music! Great choice even if you didn't make it yourselves! Good incorporation of the theme, though I feel you could have gone further with the assets, particularly the antibody. It would have been great if it was more antibody shaped. Also, the environment could have been more human-like, with curved walls, etc. But overall good use of the theme and a solid entry into the competition. - S

Stay home Gramps by jxavier 2020-05-02T10:52:20Z

I liked the concept! captures the spirit of the age in a cute, fun way. The graphics were adorable, especially when you can shake grandpa dizzy. It did get a bit monotonous after awhile. Would be nice to develop it further like a win condition, or at least some encouragement that you are on the right track for the person to keep playing. For example I got pass 50 points and there wasn't much response, so I stopped after 65. - J

Fun little game! I like the colour palette. I felt like it was going to get more challenging but it never did. I think that would really make more engaging. A few little bugs to fix with collisions (I could get 5 points from one grandpa if I shock the house right!) but good job! Sounds effects were great too. - S

Me. Fire. Run. Cave. by Ryano 2020-05-02T06:05:39Z

Really cool audio and like the art style! I found I had trouble with the armadillo hitboxes, but other than that enjoyable. Love the sigh animation when the flame goes out! I think it would have been better if the ground and water were a more simple texture. It was a bit busy, and I think it would have been better as a block of colour, like your main images and the background (also, a higher res background would have been nice!) Overall, nice detail and great job! - JS

Happy Anniversary Susan by ThisIsMatt 2020-05-02T06:42:14Z

hahah this game made me chuckle. Loved the story telling, very nice touch with the letter outlining the game objectives in red and then the game play area on the same screen. Fun little details with the sound design, and loved the art style! That was a great song choice to set the mood! I'm no expert in Copyright law, but don't you need some kind of licence to use that song? Overall, that was a fun a couple of minutes! Great work! - J

A fun little humorous game jam! Liked the sound effects and art style. Enjoyable to play through! It would have been nice to have more developed gameplay, but the presentation was really innovative! - S

Silence, Please!!! by fiwon123 2020-05-02T05:46:40Z

A fun little game, full of fun surprises! It was nice to walk around this world. I think what would bring it to another level if you could only give the notes away to places related to the puns. Like "Fa" like "Far" to be sent far away. "Do" like dough to the poor person asking for alms. Etc hahaha great art! great concept! really nice job! - J

Great little game with awesome polish. Would have loved it if the notes were related to the way you got rid of them more, but otherwise great work. Really love the visual style and the music! - S

Feed The Monster by Svalinn85 2020-05-10T06:34:19Z

A tight game that was well executed! I like the little details in the animation, like the monster sagging near the end of it's life. I wish the "purpose" of the game was a bit more obvious because it got a bit repetitive after a while and you weren't really sure how much longer you have to keep feeding/ giving air. Fab little game! - J

Great little game! Lots of polish! Great Graphics and sound! However, it didn't feel winnable. Had I known I could win, I would have played for longer. Also, there was the small bug with the timer missing a zero. Overall a really good game jam! I really enjoyed. - S

Keep Him Alive by Bulent Altinay 2020-05-02T11:03:43Z

Hey nice work for your first! I appreciate that the arrow controls were a bit unconventional (with rotate and go rather than just go with the arrow keys), but the controllers were a bit buggy where it keeps turning 180 rather than 90 at a time, then randomly it'll decide to turn 90. I liked the fadey tile factor, added interesting element to the game play. :) - J

I liked the idea. Good choice for the perspective, and the core of your game was there. I could see this being a really interesting puzzle game I would really want to play! I found the controls hard, I would have preferred movement in the direction of arrows rather than the rotation idea. The difficulty level was good. I was disappointed when I finished the third level and there were no more. Make some more please, I wanted to keep playing and I was getting really into it! Great job overall! Congratulations on completing your first LD Jam! - S

Hacker Boy by Connor0Wolf 2020-05-10T06:13:44Z

Interesting concept, the atmosphere on this one is fantastic! Loved the attention to detail of the curved monitor, major early 2000s vibes! The game play was one to figure out, but once I understood it, it got a bit interesting. Great work! Quite different and innovative! Hope to see more! - J

Really well done. Has a lot of polish, especially visually. One small issue, I found it hard to read occasionally, so maybe an easier to read font or slightly better text might have made the experience better. Overall, well done! - S

Battery Life by Morriekken 2020-04-27T01:44:51Z

I like concept! The sound design is great with the robot movement and the low battery sound! I like the steering it goes with the concept well, though it was frustrating at times. For a game win, I wish there an end location I was meant to get to. Overall nice work! - J

Fun little game to start! I did encounter what I assume is a bug, where I had a hard time steering after hitting a wall. If it was a feature, it wasn't one I liked. I think this would be better as a series of levels, instead of an infinite run type of game. I felt like I should be trying to get somewhere, not just hunting for Batteries. Overall a good effort for LD46! Very much like the simple art style and easily understood graphics! (I also really liked the blinking intro screen! Nice little touch!). - S

Mr. Cheesy by SAVVU 2020-04-27T01:24:48Z

Hey fun little concept! As a cheese lover I appreciated the humor and the details. Like the cheese skid marks and the hand coming up to collect the grated cheese (no cheese wasted)! After awhile it became a bit repetitive, so It would've been nice if there were a few new obstacles or surprises to encourage the player to keep playing rather than just high score. (Maybe like combos, or doing a different moves, or super speed or something). But understanding this a game jam, this has great bones that could be built upon :) - J

Great little game for the jam. Love the humor, especially the salad that collects cheese gratings! I did get bored quickly, maybe something else to collect while sliding might make it feel slightly better. - S

The Hand That Feeds You by TheAmerican 2020-05-02T10:35:22Z

Interesting concept, I found it hard to get my head around how to win at first. I think it would have been better if the UI was always on the screen. Overall the controls worked well, and I liked the choice of music. Good Job! - S

Airplane Mode by caps_unlocked 2020-04-27T02:28:09Z

Very humourous game! Had a little bit of a hard time with the frame rate, made jumping on the beams near impossible, loved the humour and the take on the theme. The mood is great, really good job on the airport/level design. Well done! - JS

Airplane Mode by caps_unlocked 2020-05-02T06:45:42Z

@caps-unlocked definitely low specs on my end, but looking at the game, I think there is probably some optimizations that could be done to help it out, so you don't have to have a beefy computer to play. Regardless, good work!

Can Adequately Generate Charge, C.A.G.E. for short! by Izokia 2020-05-10T05:58:11Z

Cute little game! I like it's organic little magenta tail in a very cuboid world. I enjoyed the simplicity of the aesthetics, which communicates quite effectively with minimal elements. There were a few cheats in the game play, like in if you remain in a certain spot in dodge ball and you don't move, you'll never get hit and etc. Overall good effort! - J

Good work! Nice job for a first game jam. I found some of the mini-games easy and some really hard. Maybe next time it would be better to focus on one mini-game rather than three, and really make that shine. I liked the minimalist graphics. Well done on your first jam! - S
