This is an incredible game, one of my favourites so far. Extremely clever and funny, great to look at, and feels real good to play. It brings a tear to my eye that it has so few ratings, you gotta get it out there man!

The idea is simple and the games visuals is super pretty. The controls makes it i difficult to play, and the partial effects often makes it hard to see where the ball is. But overall super well made LD game. Well done.
A great game. Took me a while to get used to the controls, but that wasn't of any kind of trouble, more like a natural learning process. Great job!.
nice effects, a bit difficult for me but it has an "epicnes" to it...nice!
It's a great game and fun to play. Very difficult to understand the controls and what you are supposed to do imho. Better clarification at the start or a tutorial explaining controls and porpouse and you got a pretty solid game. I don't understand how it fits with the theme, honestly.
Looking good but very hard to control; I wish I could get more fun out of it given its great vibe :)
@creativewhisper I was originally planning to include a deck screen, the idea was that you would receive more and more garbage cards, making your better cards more rare. I came to the conclusion later in development that this would make the game less fun, if you get punished for winning, so I focused on other things and just forgot about it.
Damn this is a pretty great Compo entry! I agree with the previous comments that some tutorial would have been helpful. But overall good job keep it up!
This is really quite good, I had a lot of fun. It took me a while to fully understand the controls, and in the end I didn't quite master them, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The card system was really quite fun and unique, and that in combination with the superb graphics and audio meant this was a fantastic experience, and a great compo game. The one thing I would have prefered was it the ball was a different colour, or at least stood out more. I found myself on some of the more powerful shots completely lost as to where it was due to all the particles (if this was the intended effect that I would have made a slam shot, and a seperate confusion shot, just to make it clearer and more defined) You say the game is in no way complete, yet I had a blast with this anyway and it was loads of fun.
One of my favorite to be honest, played it for quite a while. With more time and polish I'd totally buy a full version of this. The idea is clever and well executed. The graphics with the "cardboard figure" kind of character fits so well and add a feel of silly epicness to it. Only thing was that I got trouble to figure it out that first but that aside, easily one of the best of the jam.
I had a blast playing this game. The polish is very nice on this game. I found it a little odd, just a little bit, that there was a pixelated character in a very smooth 3d world. But i did find it very amusing that the characters had a ragdoll effect. Like in some of the other comments, it did take me a little time to learn how to play the game so adding a simple tutorial scene can really help a new player. It does not have to be complex (since the controls are simple), just something to inform the player. Other than that, i did have a really enjoyable time playing the game. Congratulations on the game, i hope to see an evolution on the game!
I love the doll physic on players. moving player just a bit right or left depending on cursor position would help to resolve the weird arm situations. The game itself was fun but the IA seems a bit sleepy. The music also does not really fit.
The game is really great! The only thing I have to complain, which wasn't said before, is that I think the game misses some visual feedback when you swing the racket. Eventhough the card jumps in the bottom border of the screen, the connection between clicking and then hitting the ball feels non-existent to me, because it's nowhere shown.
I liked it! The particle effects and the graphics were great! I don't know how it fits the theme, but good job, nice game!
This is such a cool game, I really like the 2D on 3D style, and really like how the players move all their joints to where you are.
One suggestion I would have is to change the music, it is nice, but it would be better if there was something a little more menacing (I'm assuming you used abundant music? I have to, but it would be cool if you found a more "battle" type theme)
Nice Job!
Nice and cool game
Man, I really liked this game. Art was sweet and the mechanics were super fun and enjoyable. Not sure if it was just me, but spin is overpowered as hell. But yeah, great game, would love to see it expanded on.
Not sure how this ties in to the theme? Took me a while to get the hang of it but I'm glad I stuck to it until I did - really innovative and fun mechanic! this is what game jams are about, trying out things that are commpletely new. I love how it balances action with strategy. This could be seriously cool if you worked on it some more.
@Tropferl The visual feedback on a swing was something I really wanted to include, but given the way the characters are set up I couldn't think of an easy way to do it, so tried to cover it up with the particle effects. I think if I had more time, I would have liked to have characters more like punch out, with proper animations and tells for which card they're going to use next.
@tyranosaw I know what you mean about the pixelated characters in a 3d world, it was mainly a way to cut down on time to create the characters, rather than spending all my time modelling and rigging 3d characters.
@Ajayajayaj I did use abundant music, it's actually my first time using it and it made things so much easier, usually I have to dedicate a whole day to audio. I wasn't overly happy with how the music turned out, too medieval/fantasy I think, I was having trouble getting it to generate anything better, so I settled on it and put it through bosca ceoil to change the instruments to suit a little better.
@Porcus-Pie You're right about the ball colour, when I first chose the colour for it, I didn't have any particle effects yet, so it was pretty obvious, but once I added the effects, I probably should have made it even more obvious, I was just used to it by then.
Thank you to everyone for your support and wonderful feedback.
Well, I sucked at that, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't the game's fault!
