Great combination of realtime and turn-based games. Idea with movement area that depends on how long you allow to enemies to move and act - just brilliant!

hare-software 2018-04-24 17:36

This game could have had coloured squares as graphics and I would still be sucked into it. It's great how you turned bullethell into a game in which you have to plan ahead. Hope you make this into a full game!

snorlaxfromspace 2018-04-24 17:41

Very nice concept dudes. did not expect that when opened the game. It doesnt give a great mood or has a lot of sound effects but the idea in itself and the visuals are super nice. I could not have thought of this. You should deffinetly publish this. We will also try and publish ours

Such a fun little game. At first i didn't understand the movement circle. But after 5mins it really started to shine. Good job on this one!

gregwlyons 2018-04-24 19:25

haha, turn based bullet hell. It's actually more difficult, contrary to what I thought going into playing the game. Cheers!

azargaz 2018-04-24 19:30

Thanks everyone for the comments.

@SoulPixel yeah about the movement circle, unfortunately I forgot to explain it somewhere how it works, basically the closer you are to enemy bullets the smaller is the movement circle.

Original representation of the theme, pretty enjoyable, not much to say it's great. good job

justalocalhero 2018-04-24 21:41

You chose a great them and executed it so well. The movement circle is beautiful design. I would love to see development continue on this one.

I really liked your adaptation of turn-based shooters. Really interesting restriction of player movement in each turn. Congratulations it was a lot of fun

bobgar 2018-04-25 03:51

Strange concept but actually pretty fun to play! Good job!

snapman-gt 2018-04-25 11:44

The automatic radius adjustment idea was very clever.

lukbebalduke 2018-04-25 17:05

Great game!

The concept is solid and it creates a really cool mix of the two chosen genres. Although I think the game should be more clear and auto explanatory. For example, I had no clue about what the circle range was supposed to mean until I read this comment section, why the bomb is called bomb when it is actually blank, or even which direction the red bullets were going when the time was paused ( the gray spikes from the barrel were much more readable.)

Overall it is a great entry! Keep up the good work!

Very nice take on the theme, great idea! :) The only complaint is that I didn't feel like turns were passing by, it felt more like time pauses every half a second (if you quickly pass turns), and you adjust your position in between. Perhaps if your shots were also somehow turn-based, but I understand this is difficult to get right, it would've made it feel more turn-y, and I guess also if enemies did something on their turns that you can respond to in your next turn.

Overall, I do like it, and I think it's a solid entry! :)

@lukbebalduke Thanks for feedback, your game was great. I too think my game should be more self-explanatory but I only noticed once people started playing that it might be a bit too confusing. The bombs are called bombs because thats what they're called in other bullethells that I played, so I just went with this name.

@hatchet Thanks! About the turns, it was really hard to make them feel right without making the game too easy/too hard, and I think they feel really clunky so if I continue developing this game I'll have more time to mess with turn mechanics and make sure they are more turn-y but don't decrease/increase the difficulty too much. Also the code for this game was such a mess that I'll have to start from scratch but now with more ideas and time :v:

Cool idea and the gameplay was intuitive for me from the beginning. Maybe some music would've been nice but I still enjoyed it. Well done!

evandowning 2018-04-26 19:31

Very intuitively set up, which is hard to do when combining genres like this!

stevenjmiller 2018-04-27 06:05

Fantastic job, this works unbelievably well! My best score was 7500.

mathiouza 2018-04-27 16:20

2600 points, I am not really good ^^ The concept is nice, the game is quite polished, but it lacks music though. I think the fact that the time elapsed during turns is different is a bad thing, or maybe you should display it.

Cool overall game, keep coding :)

daanvanyperen 2018-04-27 18:28

Very intuitive and even fun! You really nailed it with the mechanics. Good job.

king-kujito 2018-04-27 18:41

Cool idea!

pietro-ferrantelli 2018-04-29 21:15

It's a great idea! Super fun to dodge the shots like it was a bullet-time. Being able to control the duration of a lap is also a great idea because it is very pleasant to play fast or take the time to observe the situation.

tygrak 2018-05-03 14:45

That was pretty fun, nice implementation, it works really well. I thought I was pretty good at Touhou, but I wasnt too good at this :D. I think you could do more with this game, the idea actually works really good so if you want you could finish the game!

draklaw 2018-05-03 21:55

Really good one. Like the other said, the fact that the time elapsed each turn depends on the distance of the projectiles is really great, although it make the game a bit too easy once you understand it.

ilkke 2018-05-14 00:39

Quite interesting! I was having thoughts of making a turn based shooter myself (and I sort of did) so I found the contrast between turn-based enemy bullets and realtime player bullets thematically confusing, but then I accepted it as a game mechanic and it definitely works. Very nice
