Nice work, I quite enjoyed it! Graphics were great and liked the little messages Roberto says every so often
Great mixing of the genres, like how it gives you something to do while waiting for you towers to clear everything out.

The clam scored some humor!
Took me a while to realise my placing range is limited by the player position.
Swapping between walking and fishing wasn't very responsive a lot of the time. I found myself wanting to stop fishing to lure units into my towers, but that never worked as quickly as necessary.
A different button for skip and fishing would've also helped to not accidentally skip placing phases (perhaps just walking right near the water could activate fishing and pulling the lure all the way back in deactivate it).
Also tried to buy fishing upgrades *during* fishing ...

I liked the a lot, i've played up to the 26 wave. I like the fishing mechanic, the improvement, different waves, different enemies. I don't much to say. Just as a little problem i guess it needs more adjustment because you get easily overpowered. I don't find it bad though because of the time. BUT. It's the best tower defence + something else mechanic i've played so far. Good job!
great atmospere - very nice sound and graphic design
Very nice game, I had fun with it for a long time. It has always been difficult to decide whether to buy more towers or upgrades. I always wanted to save for upgrades, but never got this far, because my built towers had already been destroyed by that time. :D

Great entry, I like the theme combination! I made it to wave 33 before I was reduced to running circles around the horde while my last fish tower shot at them.
Nice way to use themes, haven't seen tower defence fishing games before!

Nice game using a fishing theme.
Are so funny when the horde are coming and you are still fishing. When you are walking with A or D, the UI buttons are selected automatically
@yatan This is a bug we are aware of, it only happens when you hold down a button and then press 'a' or 'd'. It should be solved by clicking on the ground. Thanks for the comment.

Great work! I was amusingly fishing until the horde came for me :smile_cat: Definitely incompatible genres...the fishing is laid back and tower defense is hectic for me, haha. Great pixel art.

When playing a Mac the main menu loaded properly, but upon passing this the screen would be entirely purple with only the symbols to build towers on it. I could resolve this issue, you have any tips?

I'm afraid we had no way of testing the Mac build but it sounds like the shaders aren't loading correctly! We'll remove the mac build for now until we can test it, hopefully the HTML5 version works for you!

the game play is really slow i spent the 200 on 2 100 fish and it took 6 waves to get another even if you spawn more it is quiet slow i also do not see what 2 genres are being mushed with would be important for a gamejam like this
Hi @boblova, the two genres are tower defense and fishing. During the fight phase you can go to the beach (at your trusty blanket), press space and fish. I hope you give it another go. Thanks for commenting!

I played this longer than any others so far, it's pretty fun. I didn't realize the build radius was attached to the fisherman for a while so my layout was terrible.
Never had so much fun fishing!

Calm music mixed with the situation, and the overall theme wins humor points. Gameplay works well giving the player something to do while the wave is going on. Was able to cheese the boss waves that don't attack your "towers" by running in circles and fishing bit by bit!
@Nillard Kiting is definitely over powered in its current form :) Thanks for playing the game!

Ok ok....
Cons: 1) for some reason I couldn't place new towers towards the end 2) there is no way to heal tower or self 3) upgrades are not visual 4) graphics...I'm sorry but where really bad 5) the music is grating after a while
with that said... I think I've played this game longer then any other on lundum dare 41 so far....
Pros: 1) addicting as can be 2) really really fun 3) awesome mix of fishing game and tower defense 4) awesome upgrades and choices 5) comical and amusing 6) challenging but not impossible 7) easy controls
all around one of my favorite games so far, I would really flush this out and consider selling it or something cause it's good.
I got to Wave 37 and for some reason the game stopped there. I killed all the zombies but it wouldn't go to the next round, it was just stuck in fishing mode. Other than this bug however this is a great game, very addicting and a lot of fun.

Nothing else seemed unusual. I did place a fish at the top part of the screen (as shown in the screen shot), that's the only thing different but I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the bug.

@gamebuilder Thanks again! I will look into this. It might be that one of the zombies was targeting the turret at the top and spawned near the top so ended up walking above the bush collider so couldn't get shot or get into the main level, that's my conspiracy theory. This is very helpful!
This was a fun game! (but honestly i'm a huge Claude Van Clam fan so i'm a little biased)

Great pixel art. I really enjoyed the game. Was super tough for me - I really liked fishing, now I'll be paranoid about an army of fish coming after me. I loved the inclusion of the theme - you might have hated it, but you did a great job implementing it.

This game was really fun! I think it's my favorite tower defense style game that I have played as of yet. Chilling out and fishing while a hoard is coming at you is great fun. I also like the mix of trying to focus on fishing and keeping an eye on the zombies. (also I love how long the clam noise goes on haha) it came out great!

This was really good! It seems like a well thought out mashup. I would've liked if you could stop fishing voluntarily, or if the fish button wasn't the same as the skip build phase button. I found that I would stop fishing and hastily slap the spacebar to maximize my fishing time during the wave only to skip the build phase and die. Aside from that though I think you nailed it. Good work!

@morrilet we also found the same problem, it's not too bad if you keep on top of placing towers every few waves as they are a little over powered at the moment but we'll definitely put out a balance patch that will make it a little harder and perhaps move the skip build phase to another key such as enter, thanks for the feedback!

Okay the pun on the title already made me excited to play the game. And I have to say, it's quite a weird concept that somehow kinda work. The fishing part gave the player something to do during the invasion, and the tower defense part is actually well done, even if at first I though it was buggy because I didn't understood you can only put tower near you. My only complain is the fishing part maybe a bit easy and under-developped, but overall I think it's quite a good game. So, good job (y)

@Toulou thanks for the feedback, we are actually thinking of seeing if we can replace the fishing element with a guitar hero/rhythm game with a fish based theme to make it more challenging.
That was really interesting! I wasn't quite sure how to cancel fishing though and get back to building apart from waiting for the wave to end.
This is a really great use of theme. Some of the fish spawn off screen. Pressing space didn't exit fishing every time. The art is really nice. Even though it is good, I don't think the music matches your mood. You did a really good job on this game. Nice work.

Sometimes towers can't be placed on some spots without any noticable reason. Also the fishing on/off space key thing doesn't always work precisly, no idea why. Although very nice game, spend a while playing it and would probably be still playing, if it weren't for the last boss wave that ended my experience. It seemed to me that money was never enough for upgrades and renewing your towers, but I know that balancing economics in such a short time isn't the easiest stuff. Also agree that music does exact opposit of supporting mood and theme of your game, which is a shame, the rain was very nice touch and had it been accompanied by proper music or sfx and maybe a bit of lighting/color change, the mood could have been pretty dense! Still I had fun for a pretty while, so thank you for that!

@honey A tower can't be placed on the location where a previous tower had been destroyed so perhaps that was the problem you were running into, unfortunately we didn't have time to put in anything noticeable such as a destroyed tower sprite its certainly on our list of things to fix though! The music was intentionally calming as you might find in your standard fishing game as to not scare the fish and add to the humour of the entire situation but I can see why people might find it doesn't quite fit. Thanks for the feedback much appreciated!

@Carvster Oh, I see, that tower stuff is explained then :) About the music I thought that it could be the intention, but still the feeling is stuck somewhere inbetween funny and moody, maybe the contrast is not clear enough or something, hard to put my finger on it. I just hope you'd be able to find out why it didn't work for me and some other guys given the feedback, that's why we're here anyways :) Maybe when the visuals and sfx would've been a bit darker, then the music would stand out more as an intentional contrast? Not sure, hope you work it out! Thanks for your response and once again for a very pleasurable experience! :)
