You should mention, that there is a HTML version too :smirk: Nice Graphics. Everything looks polished!

WOAH! This is one of the best game i've played in this Ludum Dare! Loved your art, design and music! Also the end is awesome. Good votes on mood category for sure! I'm very surprised, how you manage to put it up in this little time? woooah!
** IMPORTANT TIP: You should add a "Flashing content" warning for epileptic ppl **
I also noticed a little bug: When you step on the chemical cointainer, the killer start walking in the air! Oh no, I'm not ready for flying killers! (screenshot attached)
Thanks for this awesome work!! I've also made an Horror Game, check it out if you want! xxxxxx.jpg
This was very creepy..
Nice use of the theme and nice looking graphics and music
Well made! But the I think it needs more depth to it. Oh! ...And also I didn't see the game fit for the theme.
Very clever combination of genres and well executed. The graphics and sounds work well together to create a gloomy mood.
Definitely unsettling. Models look pretty and environment is a success. Technically everything seems right. Control mechanism is fresh. Audio is pretty basic.
It feels really weird telepathically controlling a psycho and torturing myself. This guy has quite heavy split personality disorder right there being both perpetrator and a victim. Also this guy can take a beating! Electrocuted in the face, left hand hammered, right hand cut off, stabbed to chest and what else! Psycho got confession out from me and continued to beat me with fists. Maybe the final confession and salvation comes only upon death. Yeah, this game made me sink into deep philosophical thoughts in a creepy way.
Thank you guys!
@ditzel i forgot to edit this page after publish the html version, it's updated now.
@memel06 thank you so much, I felt very happy with your comment! I'll fix this bug today
@hugmugi7 think this is a second person game, a mix with first and third person genres, wich is a pretty much incompatible 😉
@keppu It's not clear to me if you like or dislike the game, but dispite it, I think you got the game accomplished it's objective making you "sink into deep philosophical thoughts". Thank you for your comment 😀
It's creepy and psycho. Theme is "Combine 2 Incompatible Genres" and you managed it very well.. Graphics is pretty good, mood and audio also. Maybe some basic dabing will be great. But overall it's big game for 72hours.
Perfect entry :) (I am saved)
Pretty gruesome game with nice graphics and mood. I was going to disagree on the claim that it combines 1st and 3rd perspective but the more I think about it the more I have to agree that it actually does. Not huge fan of meaningless torture, I think I would need more backstory to appreciate it.
wow it was a terrifying experience, it works very good!
Thank you @hadik I really wished to know any voice actors to make do some dubbing for the game but unfortunately I don't know anybody with this talent.
@listonos thank you, I wish I had more time to work more in the backstory, I tried to make the best I could with the time and resources I had
Thanks @agar3s I think the game has fulfilled its role.
Awesome graphics and audio work. The only thing I would comment on is that it feels like the attack animation lacks a little bit of weight. Overall, it's a stunning game! Great job!!
Amazing! The graphics are fantastic, and the theme is so well-designed! However, it could use more background.
I'm saved too, good job :)
Really nice concept. I always wondered what a "second person" game would look like and this is the closest I can think of. Awesome visuals, the game is really polished. The audio could improve a little bit though, to make the experience more unique. Also, the framerate was very stable on my browser, nice job!
Congratulations, the final resuls is impressive!
I love the atmosphere and such a masochistic-like experience. I'd request more authentic sounds for victim related scenes (cut, chop, blood, etc) — this is really important for horror games. Music is on the right way.
Here is my playthrough (yes, I did try to walk upstairs ):
https://youtu.be/ySsSBVEzkJ0
Good job! Cool game! Congratulations!!! What crazy final!
Wow. For a game jam, that's insane. I have no words,so let me just say that : Gg. Consider doing a longer, more polished and lore-filled post-jam version, with even more post-process, fxs, and sound design to install a pure creepy ambiannce (i would love to see how the game could look like with a desaturated, high contrasted art), I thinkit could be a big Newgrounds hit. The theme approach is well thinked too.
5 ⭐
my only complaint is that the victims limbs shouldn't regrow.
Great game!
This looks amazing. There is real dread at points, particularly due to the atmospheric music. Well, except for when that hitting animation played haha, that kinda made me laugh. Great game, hope you expand on it in the future.
liked the game the art and the audio its looks really good with that atmosphere, keep it up, feel free to check out our game hope you will like it https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/incompatible-rally
Hey @tokkiseul thank you a lot! Animation is really my weak point at game development. I'll focus my study in that in the future.
Thanks @maloy-quinn unfortunetly I couldn't put more effort in the background story because of time.
@akanthaur we will all be saved at some time.. haha... thank you
Thanks @richard-n-silva This game was born with this concept of second person game, I think I reached this idea. Unfortunetly we don't had much time to work on soud effects, but we tried to do our best.
Hi @icxon it was really great to see other people playing the game, thank you! Unfortunetly we don't had much time to work on soud effects, but we tried to do our best.
Thank you @cristiano-m-garcia I like to think that final is kinda mindblowing :)
Hi @lautregars thank you a lot! I'm thinking in make a longer game with this concept, with a full background story. I also will try differents art styles.
Thank you @p-r the limbs regrowing is a bug that I didn't had time to fix. I'll fix this in a pos-jam version.
@arvid-nygren thak you!
@gastricsparrow thanks! Some animations really needs a lot improvements. I hope work more in this game, maybe do a full version with a full story.
Thanks @zak-zeddam-zakaria I'll play and rate your game later.
Brutal game. Very cool to play.
A really impressive feat to get the graphics looking this good in 72 hours, that's a lot of normal maps! The horror elements play out really well and there's a genuinely unnerving feel throughout. So mission accomplished! Great stuff.
Pretty interesting.. animations could use some work as they feel too weak for what they do.
Very nice work here, graphics and music are real good, sonds could use more work a horror game like this could benefit from it. Fantastic entry, i got a little bit stressed out because I dont know if the guy in the chair was telling the truth or lying! :-/. Great work here guys.
Damn, that was dark... And i loved it! Graphics are good enough for the jam version and audio is just great and sets the right mood and atmosphere. Great job, guys!
KKKKK
wow, that was dark and gruesome, but the idea of playing both parts is brilliant! It gives you a weird sense of connection with both characters, even though they're enemies. Fascinating! Great job!
Thank you @caldwellysr
Thank you a lot @darby-costello Yes, this is more about texturing and materials than modeling
@shelvid Thanks! I really need to improve my animations skills
Thanks @eudes-franco I like to think that this game is build to cause this kind of uncomfortable. So mission accomplished
Thank you a lot @annie-owl
@pixelproductions Muito obrigado cara!! Pretendo levar esse jogo adiante após a LD, com uma história completa.
@adsilcott thanks a lot! :smiley:
I did it! I saved another sinner! Very interesting premise, and real nice presentation. Made me think of a scene from City of the Lost Children where this guy plugs what he sees into another man's eye's while he's murdering him--- kinda that but reversed. While I was playing I started to hope that the gameplay would be to Look in specific directions to manipulate the killer toward objects that might somehow enable your escape, or that I might need to do certain things to keep the victim alive, but as just a brief experience it's pretty cool.
Great job on this one!
However, I think it's a bit too ambitious for a jam game. The main thing for terror/horror games is the developed atmosphere, usually achieved with filters, careful lighting and more of what you CAN'T see instead of what you can. The sequence with the chainsaw, for example, would be a lot more impactful if you didn't show it, but only heard screams, a camera shake and blood splattering.
The amount of stuff you got done in so little time, however, is incredible! I think you'd have an amazing game if you have a couple months to work on it - the only thing missing is really a little more polishment!
Oh my god! Got me chills. The game has awesome graphics and awesome horror ambience. Very well done dude! Keep it up.
Love the graphics and concept of this game. Although it wasn't really that scary since you are controlling the scary dude, but the audio and the blood still managed to give me a feeling of dread and uncomfortability. Overall great job on this game!
Nice Graphics!!! Its look like created for a year. The lighting also in the scene is good it makes the game more attractive. Good Job!!
Hi @ragtagradical thanks a lot! I haven't saw this movie, but I'm feeling curious about it, I'll put im my list! My original idea for the game has a lot of more functionalities and a deeper plot, but it is impossible to do that in jam time, so I had to simplify a lot. Maybe in the future I'll work on a full game with this concept.
Thanks a lot @gustavo-manchae I'm thinking in work more in this game and release a full game in the future
@aditya-shukla Thanks :smiley:
Thanks @kristian-david I like to think that the game is more about be an uncomfortable experience than a scary game.
@ekkoekko Thanks! I've put a lot effort on these graphics. It is more about texturing, materials and pos effects than modeling.
Wow, amazing mood and disturbingness, especially for a jam game! I really want to see this idea developed further into a even more disturbing and deep story. It's a very interesting point of view for a story, being both the executor and the victim. This gave me a lot of cool ideas, congrats!!
Interesting concept and nice graphics!
Well, very impressive!
Nice take on the theme: very unusual realization.
Other people already said lots of complements in their comments above, and I totally agree with them, but all that is not important that much... For me, the most important thing in your game, winch distinguishes it from 95% of all other LD submissions is that it makes you think. It has a "message" within.
And you have my respect for being solo. Bookmarked your gave for future reference.
Well done!
Very cool and creepy! Seeing "yourself" get tortured was really unsettling, so kudos for mood. I also encountered the floating bug: [Screenshot (131).png](///raw/a80/7/z/14673.png)
Man, this game it's tense, like the mood, and the enviroment it's great! Well done
Thanks @ghust1995 I'll work more in this game in The future, probably when I finish to work on my current project
Hi @maxklimenok thanks a lot for these kind words! I've put a lot effort in this game and I think it's my best game until now. I already have an idea for a complete game with this mechanics and a full and deeper plot. Well, thanks again!
Hi @caterein unfortunately I didn't have time to fix this bug, I will fix it on a pos jam release. Thanks!
Thanks a lot @marcius-oliveira and CalebLewis
The graphics in this game are amazing. The idea to play the torturer but control the camera through the victim is genius. If you expand upon this game I think voice acting would go a long way because the text went kind of quickly. Extremely well done. Fantastic!
Seizure incoming in 3, 2, 1...
Confessional_2018-04-29_21-07-35.jpg
What an unnerving piece, this is. Dreadful from beginning to end, with a great and fitting track along a model worthy of having it's own series of scary films. The whole game plays like the start of one of those Saw films or something, but with an even more helpless victim. It's startingly good.
There's not much to it gameplay wise, but the game is more for shows and a short yet impacting experience. While gore for the sake of gore is not my bread and butter, I'm sure that some people will find some weird thrill here. If I could suggest one thing to focus on it would be the sound effects. They're very simple in comparison to the track. Like, stabs and slices sound like muffled hits with a blunt weapon. It kinda takes away a bit of the impact.
Good job regardless. There's not many horror games around, so it's great to see one that gets its point across. [My team](twitter.com/whalesandgames) wish you a great judging period. Cheers! :whale:
Wow the atmosphere is amazing, I know it's a lot to ask but would be great to include voice acting. It's the first game here with multiple language support WOW. Good job :) Screen Shot 2018-04-30 at 1.16.17 PM.png
Wow! What a creepy and scary horror game. Great idea to view it as the victim but play it as BagHead. Fantastic art direction on the room and also on the details of the character and bag.
The music is fantastic. Did someone on your team compose it? Great job creating such an atmosphere. The piano on the title screen is especially haunting, and I like the metal-sword scraping sounds throughout the game track. very memorable score.
Game play is pretty good, but somehow I got stuck behind the oil drums at one point and I couldn’t get out without a restart.
Considering some of the violence in this game, the sound effects for the baseball bat and hammer could be a bit more severe. I also like comments by @Paul Avallone and others about adding some screams or other sound effects.
I like @listonos idea to add a backstory. But as opposed to other comments on not showing things as needed for horror - I think that works in movies, but not necessarily games (for control reasons). To me seeing the chainsaw cut of the arm is traumatizing and more powerful than not. Also, it would only be frustrating if you couldn't see where you were going. So for these reasons I think removing visibility (which normally works for great horror movies) may not port so well here.
Anyway, fantastic delivery on this game! You have really achieved something impressive here!
Best, Dave
(p.s., I did the voice for our game submission https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/rex-mcfury-public-defender and also the singer in my band is a very talented voice actor – drop a line if you would like to chat about any of your needs. – I will share your game with my singer – he very much loves horror things like the game you achieved here).
Really creepy stuff! Just played a game recently that used a third person camera for controls (Psychonauts) but the idea here is quite twisted! Great mood and nice graphics. Good job!
Woah! I'm very impressed! Extremly good job with this, and it looks so polished in just 3 days! Keep up the amazing work bud!
This game is awesome because the music and the graphics are the best combination, but I don't like the game because it is quite limited. For being a 48h game it's not really bad. Congrats.
Congrats on doing all the work on your own!! It's quite impressive. I like the idea of controlling the perspective of the tortured man, but I was expecting the story to develop in a way that exploited this more. The lack of sound effects really penalized it, but in a one-man-team it's understandable. Great job :)
The atmosphere is on point, and the mix you've chosen works really well. I really didn't expect something like this, and I must say I'm impressed. Great job dude
Nice interesting mechanics. Very unique indeed. Looks great, feels great and sounds great. Hope you guys are working on a post-jam version.
The idea is very good. Keep developing it. Maybe port it to a cardboard VR version with realistic graphics. I found a "bug" where you walk on top of the barrels on the back of the room and then the bagman starts walking on the air.
Very interesting concept. Solid entry, definitely fits the jam theme.
Tried multiple times to play this, but gamejolt keeps showing me a '403 Forbidden' nginx error when I try to play it. Do you have a self-hosted web version somewhere? Looks like a very well polished game!
Hi @the-noffs unfortunately not... Could you try again? I tried here and works, maybe it was a temporary issue. Or.if you can, try the downloaded version.
@Rodrigo-Denubila no, it's still ongoing for me. :( I'm on linux and don't see a downloadable version for it.
Interesting concept to control a character through a 3rd party's eyes. Good work on the animations! I would've liked to have seen more in the audio aspect of this submission, but overall great work for a game-jam!
Really creepy !! :D
Incredible! Love how you played through the victims eyes
A pretty mental thing. It's unsettling how uneasy it makes you feel when you control both victim and torturer. It's also an amazing concept in general to control to opposing characters at once. Makes you think deeply about every step you take and is an intense journey. Graphics are insanely good for such a short timeframe! With a bit more polish (especially voice acting) this could become an underground browsergame hit!
As it is now, it is, simply, an amazing Ludum Dare entry!
Cool idea! Nice horror
Great job! I was hooked from the beginning. Really impressive work!
Hi @the-noffs I put an HTML version at http://denubila.com.br/aprovacao/confessional/ take a look!
Great atmospheric experience! Your take on the theme is surprising and interesting and it works really good. From the very first second I've felt like I'm my own biggest enemy in that game. Great job and good luck!
Oh dear, this is giving me the creeps. Very nice concept & entry in such a short time.
Easily the best graphics in this Ludum Dare!
haha nice one :)
nice game here, I just missed the screams :)
Interesting idea, I thought the animations were maybe too long. The story was intriguing, the mood could have been pushed a little further since the game is mostly about the feeling of the story I think.
That was really cool, it took me a minute to understand the whole "first person view" mixed with "third person action", but it blew my mind once I got it. I have a friend who makes slasher films, he is going to love this game!! You did amazing, seriously, great job!! Definitely one of the top 10 I've played as of yet!!
Great job with the unsettling mood. The way I was controlling both the victim and the bagman was extra creepy and a really nice touch. The music and sound effects were a great backdrop and the bagman looked convincing. A unique and moody entry!
Holy Craps! Serious polish work. I love how well it matches the theme haha This game is Brilliant xD I also feel like this would make a PERFECT multiplayer game! Anyways, that's beside the point. Great Job :D
WOAH! That was amazing! Felt like an interactive movie scene. Really well done! I'm impressed the quality you achived with so little time. Congratulations! 5/5
Hi! Nice game! Graphics are really nice!
Would you rate my game? https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/the-game-that-bad-that-it-is-actually-good
Thx a lot! :)
Perhaps the most disturbing thing about this game is that towards the end I found myself believing the guy in the chair deserved it :) Great execution, pun intended.
In this game you can be sadistic and masochistic at the same time ... something quite disturbing. The graphic and animation display is quite impressive for 72 hours. Congratulations. By the way, I managed to cut the same hand twice XD
Interesting combo! The initial twist of looking with the victim, and realizing you are the torturer is nicely set up. Good graphics and visual flow for all the animations, nicely done.
I would have liked some more choices in the gameplay though, it felt a bit like there was only a railroad. Some ideas to improve there: - Have the victim try to escape when you take too long between actions - For each implement, offer two ways to use them - and try to gauge from the talk which one would be most effective - Flip the script again, and switch to the bagman as the one that looks, and the victim to act (all of these are hard to do in a jam of course)
Hey guys, thanks for the feedback on the game! You can check out the soundtrack i made here: https://soundcloud.com/luanmna/sets/ld41-confessional-soundtrack
Wow great game, was not expecting a game like this but, it was so gooood. I Really like the quality models and the animations. The music also sets the scene very well and provides a real spoooky atmosphere. Thanks for coming and rating our game!
There is nothing much left to say here, except GJ. Hardly any flaw to report here, except that moment when the confessor climbs the barrel and stays in the air. I'm not sure if I did something right with the order of instruments or is it an expected end, but I did manage to save that soul in the end. I'm not a fan of torture but this was some inventive stuff.
good job! the graphics and mood are very well done! :)
