Funny and scary! Nice and smooth controls. Feels complete
It's pure fun. the art is great and sounds pretty scary)
Good job ! The sounds are funny ! The physic is not enough reactive for me, but it works and you had fun making this game I think, so wp ! The concept is not very original but it's good ^^
Atmospheric game with some really cool mechanics. The throw-punch-pickup combo is cool and adds a lot the strategy. The pope-hat really affects how you choose a path through the level. Graphics look great and really fitting for the style and the only part I reacted to was the blood which seemed flat compared to the other textured graphics. Fun game with a good feeling of progression in a short time!

I did it!
It took me about 1 hour to beat it and it sure felt rewarding to do so.
I few cool things that I noticed. I'm not sure if you did this intentionally but it was cool either way:
* You can use daggers as traps to gang up pope hats and kite them * You can sometimes knock enemies vertically with the dagger if they bounce/hit walls. * The slice + implode mechanic had a very "cool guys don't look at explosion" feel, I like it!
What I like to see in case you're creating a post-jam version:
* It would be nice with a speed runner mode, i.e. with a timer * Only do double jumps on "button down" instead of "button hold", I sometimes died because I held it too long * To make the playthrough quicker, maybe the slice animation should be non-blocking * A downloadable version where you can use a gamepad? :D
The only bug I experienced was when once when I held input right before restarting the game AND holding down a button (at the LOSER screen). That gave me constant jump input on the next round. But it only happened once in like fifty games.
Great work!
I knew something like this would pop when i saw the theme and the implementation was nice.
The graphics are on point, quality pixelart, however i found the sounds a little too exagerated. Nothing that affect the gameplay however, it just startled me the first time i killed a priest and when i died.
I liked the level-design, making use of the "pac-man style" maps, required for the strategy against the flying hats. Just like @0x01f0 already said, the hold to double jump is sometimes a drawback, maybe a double tap would be better.
That said, it was a very fun game to play.
@selina thanks for your kind words and thanks for playing! We did want to make it as complete and polished as possible, but alas, time is limited in a LD. :-) Scary? Well, they are just pixels you know. Or are they...? :smiling_imp:
@dapotap hey thanks! Glad you liked it and hope you had a fun time playing! After this @sawtan will start boosting about his gfx. Again. ;-) And I will start boosting about my scary sounds... :open_mouth: :loud_sound:
@hebbinckuys-paul thanks for playing and thanks for your comments! Hm, "concept is not very original"? I'm quite sure we invented this type of concept for a game for this LD!? Never been done before, they told me? At-least that's what my team-mates tell me! ;-)
Of-course we were inspired by games like this. We love the genre (Bubble Bobble I'm looking at you!) And yes, we had fun! But also difficulties and sadness at times, as per normal in a LD. ;-) I'll tell our sound-person/engineer about your praise of the sounds. (Hey, that's me! Thanks dude! :speaker:  )
@sbtn flat blood eyh? Well we had MINOR problems with getting it SHARP enough thru the MAJOR pixels. (that's a free music joke for you right there! )
Kind of you to play and comment! @sawtan will be pleased people like his stuff! He gets very disgruntled when people don't. (**hint hint** people giving grades!)
@khorm put a lot of effort into those levels, to get them just right. He fought right to the bitter end, and still wanted to add more levels. So a :trophy: to him!
@0x01f0 w000t!? They told me it was impossible? It could not be done by a mere mortal human, they said! And you sir/madam did it anyway? What kind of beast art thou? Well, we have no choice but to send you the check. Get back to us with your adr and we'll mail you the giant check of awesome! :trophy:
Wow, can't believe you put so much effort into playing it, makes me happy and proud. And a bit worried for you... :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Naaah! We made this game for people like you. The 4% that actually are sadistic enough to go to the bitter end just to hear my voice at the winning screen :speaking_head: . We salute you! :v: :confetti_ball:
Big thanks also for your great feedback! We agree with it but we'll blame it on time. She is a cruel mistress especially on a LD. :sob:
@derek-volker well somebody had to do it. So we had a sit-down with the chaps in the team and agreed to take one for the LD-people! Hell yah! Heroes they called us. (no, they didn't, nobody called us that)
There was sure a lot of devil/hellish-themed games, but the theme name was kind of telling for this area I think.
Gfx-guy @sawtan is happy! Sound hobo @rolle is sad. Nah, jk! Thanks for the comment, I agree. There just wasn't any time to fine-tune the whole game together, to make all parts really tight. It's more of a concept, a feel of what we had in mind. (BTW killing priests should be startling, so that's a good sign  )
The idea with the levels was some kind of puzzling feel to it, and @khorm did a great job! But ofc we didn't make it all the way we would have wished.
Thanks for playing and thanks for your comment! :joystick:
really nice old school vibe! i could totally see myself playing this while sneaking onto the pc of the older sibling of a friend while he's out doing older kid things. nostalgia++
funnily when I clicked on your game I thought the name was "Sacrifractions" and that there'd be some kind of math involved. I was not disappointed to discover I was wrong.
@ragtagradical That's the best of comments to play, I think I got stuck in the early 90's when it comes to game graphics, I just can't get away from that nice SNES/Amiga palette that I learned to love!
Good to hear that you prefer this to math problems! :beers:
A really good game. I like the mood of it best. GG
An interesting game with a kind of mechanics. I put a rating) Please rating and me, thanks in advance)
@mladjo2505 thanks for playing!
@mladjo2505 thanks! Will do right away! =)
Really well polished game.
That's a very cool game! I like the artstyle and sounds. It plays really well and is fun!
@cribin thanks! We used a lot of wax and cloths! Buffed her right up to top-notch polish!
@kaeveris thank you! We like to think so also!
It's a lot of fun. As the difficulty grew, the game was difficult. But it's fun. The mere touch of a dagger left the enemy. Why are the enemies stabbed in the sword praying? Are you disappointed? I want to see the end of this game, but it might be difficult for me.
Good job guys! My only comment will be about jumping. Keep up the good work!
