This async multiplayer mechanic is seriously cool. Excellent job!

This async multiplayer mechanic is seriously cool. Excellent job!
I couldn't play, the game kept crashing while trying to sync, tag me if you can find a fix and I'll come back and rate
Liked the game, syncing was a little broke, got a few errors, but I really liked the idea of the game.
@trash @mmason I just posted an update that should prevent crashing when sync fails, instead you get a timeout message and can refresh the game. I'm not super sure why the sync fails. I might try using a different host just to see if the problem persists!
@trifectuh thanks!
Played your game! It was quite confusing as I couldn't understand what to do exactly. It would have been nice if the visual cues were informative. But overall it was a nice concept though.
Please play my game and give some feedback. https://therockripper.itch.io/the-selfish-king
Thanks
The async multiplayer mechanic is freaking amazing! I'm really, really loving it!
Some ideas: - when making a launcher, let me first decide it's direction, then let me confirm its placement - there should be some kind a cooldown between logins - let me spend my coins on manipulating the enemy god's side (destroy launchpads walls etc)
The sync does not work for me.
@sadsmile thanks so much! About your ideas: - what would the login cooldown do? just prevent players from playing both sides? - spending coins on more stuff would be cool. Maybe even traps and monsters. You can destroy objects right now by pressing F again after sacrifice, but it only takes one object at a time.
Doing multiplayer anything in 48 hours is a serious feat, well done!
You undertook a monumental effort- great freaking job. PS super duper love that artwork. Ultra high fantasy dark stuff like that isn't always popular but you nailed it!
@d3vil0p3r I recently pushed an update that hopefully fixes some sync some problems. I also received notice from the server that I had been blocked temporarily for too many requests, but it seems to be resolved now. Try it again!
@popdaddygames thanks so much! It was a satisfying challenge to get that multiplayer working. I hope to do more stuff with what I learned making this project.
Mechanic is kinda curious! very good job there!
Very innovative idea, and great feeling!
I wanted to check out some more games today, but I got stuck here. I think this game is just amazing, 5 out of 5. It's all super cool and I don't have anything negative to say. Love it! Also, go red!
@pancakefriday Awesome! I'm so glad you enjoyed it, but uh... GO BLUE!
WebGL/Linux version?
To heck with red, GO BLUE!
I came back to this game twice to see if the syncing bug was fixed and I'm glad I did, I've been playing this for maybe an hour and having an absolute blast. I think this would make a really good X v X sort of game, where you have teams of people trying to score as many points as possible while a timer ticks down.
I feel like you might benefit from somewhere to spend all the money you have (character upgrades maybe?) and controller support would be really cool.
I would love to see more of this!
I got stuck on this for way too long. Will definetly play again. 5/5 best LD game for me so far.
Nice gamefeel. The character was pleasent to move and control. I liked the idea of the asynchronous gameplay! After a few lives I felt like I have seen everything but I had fun. Good work!
The idea is really cool, I wish there was a mac or html5 version, can't play and rate without it  Good job still for doing this!
grats, cool job
Great controls, love the concept so far ! The level design feels a bit weird though, i've been bumped around for a few minutes without being able to do much. Guess some explanation would be more than welcome :)
@mmason Thanks so much for playing! Yeah it'd be interesting to have some kind of "rounds" and "matches" taking place in the game to tally a victory at some point. Maybe if I update the game again. Right now I think I'll probably just declare a winner when voting is over. Upgrades and more building options would be awesome. I was working to implement the multiplayer right up til the deadline, so there are a lot of ideas and features I didn't get to implement. I just tried to focus on what I had written down.
@nanda Thank you!! Check in again and make sure your god takes victory in the final moments! I think I'll tally the score at the end of voting.
@beardmage you can blame the other players for the level design haha. Every object in the game has been placed by another player.
An interesting game with a kind of mechanics.
Super visceral feeling when you're bouncing all over the place! Fun little setting.
Hi !, Nice game, I like the concept and the mechanic, it was fun ;)
The mood is so cool!
very nice job ;p
Great stuff! Love the user generated content concept! Hard to find out what you have to do in the beginning, but that is part of it I guess! I started in this weird world cramped with platforms and launchers and coins and had to find out what to do meanwhile having a lot of fun! :) Thanks for that!
@ragtagradical Hey, I really like this game, but I didn't remember or understand how to properly play it. I had fun, and think it's cool. My boy, Blaa, is losing though :(
You can watch me play it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PAOgJlbt3Y
@alext-design thanks for playing! But yeah, the idea is that each player is building stuff in the world. If you press F you Sacrifice yourself which opens a build menu.
Very cool idea and really impressive you made this work during a jam. The artstyle was pretty cool. The actual game though wasn't really fun for me but it is cooling feeling like a part in a bigger battle and I guess that's the idea.
@shakedimus Thanks for checking it out! yeah as the world filled in it became pretty impossible to have any influence in your sacrifices, so less fun. I think if I had found some way to set up rounds, or modify the world in more interesting ways it could have a longer lifespan, but as it is you're dealing with routes and paths and traps that other players built ages ago in a time of plenty.
