Damn knife guys! @magnanix I feel you dude. I didn't know you could walk trough them?? I jumped just like you lmao. Was quite difficult due to needing perfect timing. Welp, I guess I'll give it another shot. Of all the games I tried yet this looked the most finished.

Not a fan of the long attack animation, I have no problems having a long cooldown but hate when I'm being weighted down by my own attacks, especially if it's a basic attack. Many things also aren't clear like the crafting system or the pickups. Overall I'd say one of the more ambitious jams I played and I encourage you to continue with the project, I myself want to make a dungeon crawler one day and you have a solid base.

I could say all kinds of good and bad things about this game but bless you for the speed buttons, every singleplayer management game should have them and it was the right choice to include them. Will you expand upon the existing concept into a city building game?

What made you play the game in the first place? I saw it on youtube, and I generally love this type of game (made one myself, way more chaotic and random, and upon reading your post-mortem I see we both had similar problems due to time constraints (civilization war, trade and the like) so I immediately tried yours. How would you describe the game to a friend with one sentence? Like doodle god except you actually see your results What was the most memorable thing you encountered? The nuke :) (mebbe the monolith) What did you find lacking or would add in the game? I suppose the things you already mentioned in your post mortem? Perhaps a more self aware world, I love and farmy simulations. Like, life spreading and the society things you mentioned.

Loved it. My only gripe is too steep hills, going uphill would blend too well with the "normal" snow and suddenly change my direction and going downhill would accelerate me so much I would have no chance of surviving. On the other hand life would be quite boring without such small and sudden challenges (just ran into the ridiculous hill twice), haven't beaten it but will (man once I got 30 within 2 seconds but got too overconfident ;_;)

Ah, lovely base for a proper game. Check out forager and minecraft skyblock survival and expand in such a direction. Everything you make has a positive and negative effect, so you gotta balance it out, also each spawns certain monsters, basically higher risk higher reward sort of thing. Also is there a reward for getting all 8 block types to 100 on the trophy?

From the games I played yet this is by far the most atmospheric one. However, when I get to the door that seems open, nothing happens, I can't interact with any doors, none of the doors are open, and the rest of the game is fenced off. Is that a bug or am I missing something obvious?

Interesting concept. Camera work needs a lot of work tho. When you press the dash button and try to retreat the camera will go all crazy. I personally would accelerate the dash buildup, and maybe make it a jump to give the player a feeling what is happening, as it is now I feel like I'm being teleported, which makes more complex platforming rather difficult. With a little polish this can be a good game. Don't forget to find spooky music! Would like revisiting the game on halloween, you better make it spooky ;)

Is it just me or are there no upgrades after getting brain and tentacles? I tried eating things for a while but nothing, the NEUTRAL also didn't change :/ All in all love such games, good ol' Spore. I actually thought about making something like this myself :D

It's a bad idea to have controls keys on both sides of the keyboad (TAB and E on left, arrows on right side) AND the mouse. My advice is to add WASD controls, will be way more enjoyable. EDIT: Okay I just noticed the control scheme on LD is said to be WASD but that wasn't the case for me, WASD didn't do anything, had to use arrows. EDIT2: Okay now the LD description got fixed X) Nevermind the edits lmao

I think the MEGAHIT room is bugged, I can enter it, defeat the enemy, open the box, can't pick up K nor leave the room, otherwise an interesting game, will be revisiting.
