High points from me! This was wonderful. Never had my J key been used so many times in a row. I love how the game looked and the overall concept. Very creative. I think I got to outer space. The sound design was great too. I like how the levels were designed too. The traps always felt fair and well placed and adding something like the metal wall was just what the game needed. This is one of my top faves! Fantastic work!
this game is amazing! my favorite I've played so far! Love the design and the simple concept!
really great game, adore the arcade style art. music was fun too!

This game is quite good! Love the dreadful feeling as all 4 corners of the wall come crashing down on you! The traps and walls weren't unfair in it's placement and the speed when it's placed.
wow. i am stunned at this.
i can tell there's a real musician here instantly because holy shit this music is phenomenal. i'm extremely picky with music as i've been listening to about every genre under the sun for 4 years now, and my taste is getting real niche, and it's taking a lot to impress me now. i've got my own favorite video game osts after hearing many, and my absolute favorite two retro soundtracks are both by the Follin brothers, the silver surfer ost and the plok ost. this music reminds me of them, but modernized in the absolute perfect way. the diversity in the sonic palette for the drums and how they pierce through the mix is fantastic, the mix altogether is amazing. the progression through the track is perfection. main motif holds the exact amount of weight it should, euphoria every single time it came back in, especially with the lead-up to it adding so much tension. the amount of pieces that get taken out and put back in adds another layer of dynamism to the track that i adore. i've heard a gigantic sum of video game osts. hundreds and hundreds listened to outside of their respective games, and this is one of the best video game tracks i've ever heard. if this was in a big game? it'd become a classic without a doubt.
the funny thing is too, that this music is paired aesthetically with complete cohesion to the rest of the game. the constant dodging and weaving, the ethereality of the unknown of the space was clearly something you all understood as it is only enforced by the random switches and reverb-laden spectator shout-outs that happen alongside them. you know when you play a game and it feels so magical you start to genuinely get a little emotional? i had that happen here, it's hard to explain why. in a way it feels as if you captured something really raw in this, something that correlates to the natural human struggle of fighting against every unknown constant to keep yourself as stable as possible, feeling like everything is swallowing you. etc. might seem like over-analysis but if i felt it whilst playing then that's what i'm taking from it
gameplay is great. really really really fun.
game looks absolutely amazing, every sprite and effect is perfectly tailored to the aesthetic.
i rated every single thing 5 stars and i've only given out two single 5 stars throughout every game i've rated so far. for a game jam? this is a masterpiece. can't imagine it getting any better than this.
i've been listening to the music the whole time writing this dude i don't wanna stop listening ever

Very high rankings from me. Loved the innovation here and use of the theme, but also the overall presentation was awesome, and loved the CRT shader. Of course having an online leaderboard is awesome too!

Very atmospheric and frantic while also being simple and easy to understand. Music rocks, and visuals are fun. Very nice work!
Guess I'll just echo what @imontheweb said, holy moly ya'll nailed it. The high score ranking is a great touch that had me wanting to play again after each defeat. Very well done

this is really fun to play! i love the huge SPACE that appears when you use your ultimate. love the feeling of the walls closing in on you - it's really hectic and exciting.

Amazing game! Definitely one of the best I've seen around here. The way you worked with the theme was just perfect!

S P A C E. This is awesome! It took me a minute to figure out how things work, but it's a really cool design. Pushing back the borders feels really good and the ultimate was satisfying. The music came in bangin right from the start too. So cool!
I made the leaderboard! Probably not for long. kickass game. good job. I love the retro TV screen look. I wish more retro pixel games did that. I'm super impressed with everything here.

One of the best games I played so far here, loved the artstyle and the rankings. Big retro feels
I really liked this one. Felt like it could be released as an arcade game in current state and compete with a lot of what's out there. The graphics and music fit perfectly, and the gameplay was fun and stayed interesting as the levels went on.

Hello!! Thank you guys so so much for all the love and support! Since I'm so flattered by @imontheweb and others' comments, I've decided to upload the music for this game to YouTube, and maybe one day to Spotify as well! Please enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0A-g6u0-xs
Nice Game! well polished and fun to replay. I love the voice audio every time you change a level  or when you use your ultimate **SPACE**

Great visual direction and the game was fun and challenging at times! Would have liked to see some different mechanics at each "ascension" into a different space. The music is absolutely awesome and I kept playing just to listen to it. I had top score for a brief moment!

@euix Thanks for your thoughts on the ascension mechanics! We added the metal walls at Stratosphere to prevent players from just running around in the same circular path all the time. Some of the later hazard ideas we considered were bullets that ricochet off of walls, missiles that chase you around, or blades moving along the walls, but we decided to keep the game simple for now. If anyone has mechanics or other ideas they'd like to see in a post-jam release, we'd love to hear your feedback!
Thank you everyone for playing!
I have no idea what I want have to say about this game but I need a reason to keep the music playing in another tab, and coming up with a comment is the only real excuse I have to not move on to judging the next game.
Highly stylized, highly polished, awesome game! Fun and original gameplay too! It was super hard for me, I wasn't able to escape and I didn't even make it onto the score board. I think my high score was 58
Normally I'm not a fan of crt filters or other screen space shaders, but I think it works really well with this games style and theme, and the distortion effect near the edges that went along with it really seemed to fit as well
Only one small bug I noticed was that whenever I punched the bottom border of the screen, the character would teleport downwards as much as the edge receded, which didn't happen for any of the other directions

Nice little game. Good style and gameplay. Great music, too. Fitting really well with the theme.
i give up fight, because everyone dies
Gameplay smoothly fits with the jam! I really enjoy manage how I move next and the process and flow are so fun and cool!
Nice polished look with that retro monitor effect. Switching up to the stratosphere was also very satisfying :) I gave this one a few plays and really enjoyed it. Nice work!
Love the CRT style look, a fun little retro game! Really cool interpretation of the theme, I definitely felt the limited space.
The music is _slaps_, it's so good. Very fun arcade game. There's not much to complain about, this feels very well polished and everything runs smoothly. Maybe I would animate the walls getting pushed back rather than just instantly teleporting back to give a better sense of the player actually punching them? Still, that's a nitpick. The game was a lot of fun. Great job!
cool and well-executed idea! very fun to play, also loved the chippy groovy music : ) oh, and having a leaderboard is good fun

Nice game. Not sure if it's intended, but punching the corners will push both adjacent sides back.
Cool game. It took me a couple of rounds to figure it all out but the It got addicting. The one improvment feedback I have is that I would like for my name to be remembered if I have entered it to the highscore once so that I don´t need to waste glorious playtime to typing it =)
Nice! Maybe smoother wall movement would have been even nicer? Anyways, well done!

@nathmate Yes, punching the corners (while moving diagonally) will push two walls but each wall only half as much.
@henrik-ganard Sorry for wasting your time ;)
@notnasiul We can make the wall being pushed back smoother in a post-jam! (We made the walls incrementally close in on the beats after benisu created a banger of a song to make it feel like a rhythm game.)
Again, thanks everyone for the comments!
I know people judge, but I don't know why my browser is freezing and I can't even play. loads but freezes :bed:
That CRT effect on the art was sick! Loved the pixel art. The theme implementation is pretty amazing. Really nice polish overall, the music is a bop.
Amazing game! It has amazing art, amazing music, amazing everything. The only annoying bit is that sometimes you can get some really bad RNG and get stuck between traps without any escape. Great job overall!
You basically nailed this - perfectly on theme, wonderful art style (love the CRT effect), nice music (endless loop sounds great without fatigue) sound design was nice too. Great work!

@lincolnsalles not sure why that's happening :( we can try to make a downloadable version as well if that might solve the issue
@deadjolly thank you! we were so lucky to have such a great one-person art team :D
@bluedandelion thank you! yeah, we tried to balance traps so that they spawn a certain distance away from the player to avoid getting stuck, but there's definitely some work there to optimize spawns so RNG won't dictate too much of the gameplay
@dan-burns thanks for the nice comments!

Hey, I’m the host of the Ludum Dare score chasers tournament for this jam
Wanted to ask for score chasers if you were fine with me playing some gameplay of your game in the background in the waiting period / intermission as well as playing the music from your game. In the waiting period its going to cycle between gameplay of a bunch of different games in the background (with music from games in the jam playing as well)

@ategon Sure, feel free to!
Nice idea! It's fun to play and looks good. Really hard!
Music slaps, gameplay slaps, graphics slap. Awesome work to all of you! The only note I have is it would be nice if your score wasn't capped at 130. I tried for a top score but I just don't have the chops...

Very cool game, the theme is spot on, the music is great, the graphics are simple but very clean and well made and the crt effect really sells it. Great entry!
