Really sweet game, was smiling every story moment, got a bad end, but i'l try to get better ones. Are they based on maxed out stat, or is there ending for balanced all-arounder?

godsh0t 2020-04-21 18:41

Combination of stats and chosen work determine ending. You will have to figure out how to get morality, intelligence and trust up to a certain degree to get the best ending. ;)

rednaxelus 2020-04-21 21:35

I wish there were a shortcut for planing a whole month with an activity. Lovely visuals

alexander-leitner 2020-04-21 22:27

The art and visuals are beyond beautiful! The game is so clean

sigod 2020-04-21 22:34

The game is way too long for the jam, but the story kept me in its grips. I got alchemist end.

eoshadows 2020-04-22 00:04

I enjoyed it! According to the Outer Federation though I must be a terrible parent - I keep getting the Bad End xD

The graphics are good and it really makes me want to keep trying different schedules to raise the Giver. All I wish though is that I could go back to the menu every time I get to an ending, rather than having to leave the game and get back into it every time I want to restart.

Anyways, really well done!

The presentation, mood, and music are freakin perfect in this. A bit long but I very much enjoyed it. Could make for a great mobile game *hint hint*

Thanks for the love, everyone! :)

@Sigod: Yeah, my first test play through of the whole thing from end to end (2 hours before submission) took roughly 45 minutes, which meant I only got to test two endings before we had to submit. Earlier builds of the game had a line of text show up for every day, not just when a stat growth was critical like it is now.

@Rednaxelus: Good suggestion!

@EOShadows: I agree, and I would have loved to add that but for uninteresting technical reasons, there was a risk of other gameplay things breaking if I patched it in at the last minute before submission, and I didn't want to make the game wildly unstable because I promised the rest of the team it would be more reliable than the Guilty Gear Strive lobbies and I think I nailed it on that front tbh (sorry arcsys I love you)

Salaryman ending appears to be bugged because I mistyped a variable name :(

I saw hips, I clicked. I tried to give this game all I got but ended after the bad ending (got as far as getting to the hamburger joint). the story was extremely enjoyable hitting all the right notes with tone but planning the weeks felt like a chore, maybe its just not my kind of game but it definitely feels like those sections could have been designed to be done faster. the design of the planning was nice with the balance between money, various skills, and stress. atleast that was interesting but doing it over and over again was a bit of a drag atleast in my experience. insane ammount of playtime and depth for a LD ty for making it/

Fun, but a bit long to get all the endings

technogoth 2020-04-23 02:01

This is a tough one. I normally love these raising type games. I've played a bunch over the years. But It just missing something. The lack of feedback from doing actions for one thing. The fact that most turns nothing means there isn't a good loop of seeing things improve. I think I got a bugged ending. It gave me bad end even though my stress bar was empty and all but one of my other stat bars were maxed out.

yeti-kid 2020-04-23 22:19

A lot too read but it's clear that you had a big story in your head and surprised how much detail you put into the story in such a short time. Well done!!!

noahnewline 2020-04-24 03:31

Such a delight! Loved the writing, the tone, the music, and the art. The world felt cohesive and well-thought. This feels like it could be fleshed out into a whole game! Great entry

Good Job!

aztec 2020-04-24 17:06

Although simple, the game was engrossing enough for me to play it for almost an hour.

An impressive execution of the 'Princess Maker' genre that I wouldn't have expected from a game jam

samstallion 2020-04-25 01:36

Graphic treatment was a interesting take. Story was intriguing, I'll probably come back to play when I have more time. Nice game!

veka 2020-04-27 22:29

Very good game! I liked the setting, story progression and the relationship building between characters. Interesting visual and audio design, which fits perfectly to the overall tone of the game.

Too bad I didn't have time for a whole playthrough (wish there was a save option), but definitely going to give it a second try when I get some more time.

saviorium 2020-04-28 00:50

Got true end first try. It was too obvious though. I just coudn't make myself to force Celestia (her name from source code :) ) to do some things, like work for black market. Loved writing, music, and visuals. The story was cute. Impressive work for three days. I hope you will add more story branching or that lifestyle choice feature someday.

**[SPOILER WARNING]**

Aw, that was nice. I got the Alchemist end - cute reference with the cart, haha.

As my girl tended to get less and less stress from her daily activities, I filled her whole months with one activity. I wish there was a button for it, or a way to repeat the previous month at least!

I liked the writing. I would've liked more events, as they were (perhaps unsurprisingly) my favourite part, but I understand development time is limited and and there is quite a lot content as is!

[M]ACHINE [L]EARNING TEAM, YOU HAVE GIVEN ME ENJOYMENT. YOUR GAME WILL BE RATED. EXPECT RESULTS IN 11D 07H 35M.

(I read the other endings on Github, and the True End, while heartwarming, seems to not be in line with *any* of the other endings? Especially e.g. the Pirate/Salaryman endings make quite clear that the Outer Federation exists.)

godsh0t 2020-05-02 00:35

[*warning* spoilers ahead!!]

@tobiasw Thanks for the kind words! As for your question, there is only one "canon" ending which is the True End where it's revealed that the Outer Federation doesn't exist--it's simply her sending emails to you. There are a number of small hints that suggest this earlier on, fidgeting behind her back and immediately receiving emails, emails telling you to "administer" her favorite food, stopping to look at the royal family crest--also, if you think about it, what kind of super advanced aliens would send you emails anyway? The rest of the endings play as if the Outer Federation is real to keep up a sort of meta ruse so that anyone who managed to get the True End got a nice little surprise. :)

tobiasw 2020-05-02 00:57

**[SPOILER WARNING]**

@godsh0t Ah, gotcha! I can respect that - I didn't consider that the others might not be canon. Thanks for the answer!
