Press R to Withdraw Sword .

Sorry about that!

Was fun! It seems like it needs to be optimized quite a bit, I was getting a frame rate slowdown pretty significantly the whole play through. But, I was able to see past that, and enjoy myself anyway! Definitely suspenseful and could be tons of fun if refined to play smoother! Very cool, nice graphics! Keep working on this!

That dancing minotaur made my day. Add a simple key notes and it`s gonna be great.

merdeboi 2019-10-08 13:37

Found a lot of keys and a few chests, definitely spooky and well animated Minotaur. Good work.

Pros: Ambient sound definitely created a suspenseful atmosphere. The variety in level design also made it more interesting. The animation of the minotaur was hilarious.

Cons: Optimization for frame rate and lighting. The minotaur's footsteps could be made more evident to increase the tension of the game. Some things that I was confused about were that the chests took up my keys without opening, not sure if they required more than one key or a bug. I was also not sure about the function of the sword.

I'd give it a 7.5/10, great work!

I saw this being played on a stream yesterday and wanted to see how it felt to play. Overall it has a really great, tense atmosphere, and lighting torches feels great, but I did have some issues with framerate and never managed to reach the end (but the game over screen is 10/10).

Really fun game, absolutely fantastic, you should make a bigger version of this

Atmospheric game. Easy controls (or at least easy to figure out). When the minotaur caught me I got the chills. And the b******d was dancing afterwards. Good job!

I hate games that are based on fear, horror, etc. I try this one despite this... Now I keep it for later because I have nothing right now to trace a map, and I really like the game. Small details : The sound of the minotaur approaching is too powerful, a pause option would be nice (I try 'Esc' and ended with a "Quit" draw on the middle of my view... but I still can move, and the monster too ^^'). Wonderful sounds, graphics and mood

Had a lot of fun with this exploring. Good atmosphere and love the lighting of the torches. Couldn't seem to use the sword and didn't see the Minotaur. A small bug that when you press escape, you cant click on QUIT so have to Alt-F4 to leave. Nice entry though! and hi to SAE! I have done a few global game jams in the past there so that building has game jam essence deep within! :D

I get lost so easily ;) I love the Minotaur model and animations, also the sound was very scary. Controls were a bit confusing at the beginning, and i dont know what to use the sword on ;) also i found way more keys then chests ;) But overall good Job!

I think the atmosphere is very well established thanks to the lighting and sound design but its really the actual gameplay which brings the game down a bit. I think with a better random level generation system and more responsive controls this game could have been just right. Despite all of that I absolutely love the idea of the game and I think it goes perfectly with the theme.

liked the art. Felt like closed loop Temple Run if temple run had better graphics. Maybe Music if added and matched would have made the MOOD category, as i previously judged from your screenshots it might be one of those Mood game plays. Also, looking forward to more of this development if you guys are gonna proceed. You can Drop in your twitter handles so i can follow you guys and stay updated ! Good work S.A.E students! Greetings from the Himalayas!

I like the absence of music, it makes the things more tense

erebus 2019-10-08 23:43

Great start. Looking forward to seeing a more polished version. Really like the concept, great mood. Thanks for bringing it by the stream!

sirred 2019-10-09 00:56

Very spooky in the beginning before I realized I could grab the torch. Was a fun experience. 10/10 dancing minotaur.

tjmcdonald 2019-10-09 01:21

Loved the atmosphere and the art! Very creepy and tense.

youngblade 2019-10-09 02:18

This game had by heart pounding so hard. The graphics and animation looked fantastic (also, the dancing Minotaur is hilarious). The atmosphere of the whole thing really made the game memorable. Thanks for sharing this with us on our stream last night!

trifectuh 2019-10-09 02:24

You get extra humor points for the title screen animation haha

In seriousness, I like the pacing and the moodiness of the game. Using lighting like this is a clever way to make simple (or nonexistent) textures look much more exciting and atmospheric. I think some work could be done in the realm of ambient sound effects. but the minotaur sounds definitely gave me a scare the first time I heard them.

Nice job!

morrilet 2019-10-09 02:35

This was surprisingly eerie. The snarling, the lack of music, the torchlight... You folks really sell the atmosphere. Unfortunately I can't comment too much on the gameplay as I got about 8 frames a second playing this, but the animations were really solid. I was pleasantly surprised that everything had a corresponding animation, and the dancing minotaur made the framerate worth it.

Overall this was a solid entry. If you manage to clean up the framerate a bit I'd be interested to give it another go. Nice work!

w0lfenstein 2019-10-09 06:57

Beautiful graphics and spooky atmosphere but so sad optimization even on good PCs :c

kekkodude 2019-10-09 07:11

I think i did it, i found an entrance that was textured differently than the rest off the maze and then, i got the thanks for playing splash, it was all a bit sudden, and with the Minotaur starting to breathe down my neck as i passed the doorway, i felt myself pressing W harder and harder, because everyone knows pressing the key harder makes you go faster, right? haha

The all around ambiance is on point, got my pulse going the first time the Minotaur came along, second rund he was very quiet, i was left to my own thoughts as i wandered the gritty corridors

found some texture tearing in the walls but other than that, overall i was missing some sound and a bit more ambiance audio. I gotta say i like it tho, despite the genre not really being my thing. it's doing what it's supposed to haha, well done!
