very interesting visual style. great job!

caspercaper17 2019-04-29 07:54

The art is AMAZING on this game, the style is so unique! I did find it a little hard to control the planet, but furtherwise its an amazing game.

purpledartfrog 2019-04-29 08:10

Unsure what to do - but love the art work - reminded me a lot of an entry last time around Jared - I suppose

robowarrior1982 2019-04-29 08:48

Fun concept ! (i like shaking and look man fall!) Paper graphics are nice, very original, it's peace and relaxing i like this entry !

jsec 2019-04-29 09:33

Art is extraordinary! Love it! Have a cookie mister!

fm-studio 2019-04-29 09:42

Enjoyable concept. I like the art style. I would like to see this project pushed further. Great job!

furtive-pygmy 2019-04-29 10:06

That is some good art! Love the sound effects, fits the theme, just a solid entry all around!

jani-nykanen 2019-04-29 10:34

A very personal visual style.

morg 2019-04-29 10:36

Super cute game, I like the art and the sound style. The mechanics are also very interesting, I was a bit confused at first but then I realized I could shake the planet and that added a whole lot of fun.

corny 2019-04-29 10:37

So relaxing! I really enjoyed shaking those little people off the bottom of the planet - hearing their little screams of anguish was very satisfying. Shaking the clouds and smiting them also felt very good. And the sound design and artstyle only solidified my opinion about this game being a great, if a bit sadistic experience. But it's for the good of the planet, so I'll let it slide.

paul59 2019-04-29 11:38

Nice! Good art and sounds, a different experience to anything else I've played so far.

zubspace 2019-04-29 11:40

Superb game idea. The simple hand drawn style is really, really nice to look at. The way the people occupy our planet is wonderful to observe.

Thank your very much for this gem!

jka 2019-04-29 12:27

Such a wonderful looking game! It actually looks like you're playing the game on a piece of paper. The game play is solid and the audio is excellent. The only fault I can find is that the shaking of the clouds felt a little fiddly to me.

lyghtningwither 2019-04-29 13:00

Nice! The paper drawings were so realistic, I thought that your screenshots were you conceptualizing. Also, it's kinda hard to play.

belea 2019-04-29 14:08

Visual style is awesome. I love the drawings. The shake is so smooth and the gameplay and theme works great.

One of the most interesting games of this compo, well done.

notb 2019-04-29 15:46

Very cute visuals and pleasantly surprised by the actual game, not what I expected. Great use of gravity. Nicely done I think you could make this a bigger game!

barrier 2019-04-29 16:52

I love the hand drawn artstyle, wish I could zoom in the game, everything is a bit small to me. Wasn't sure how to get rid of buildings, lightning didn't seem to work, or maybe I didn't aim it right? Shaking people off is fun :)

jeroenpx 2019-04-29 19:19

Haha, loved shaking the whole planet!

Interesting way of making the graphics and they look really well. I did not notice the bird sounds until after I played the game though. (Could maybe be made a bit louder)

Moving the clouds felt really slow, but we could just shake the whole planet, so I did that most of the time instead. :)

grllle 2019-04-29 21:09

@barrier : Thank you! Lightning should work. Everything nearby the cloud should go down. But you're right with the zoom. It wasn't possible to scale the game without redrawning many assets unfortunately. Playing in fullscreen helps a little bit :)

grllle 2019-04-29 21:12

@jeroenpx : Thx for the kind words! The low volume bugs me the most to be honest. I did everything with headphones and it seemed ok but yeah...bummer :D

vinmh 2019-04-29 22:33

Really interesting mechanics,! The art is also very nice.

neonjeff 2019-04-30 00:05

Wow I love the style of this! I tried playing this on a touch pad which was a little tough, but still worked! Almost didn't realize there was audio but turned up the volume and enjoyed what I heard :)

omnipotentindie 2019-04-30 00:08

Wow, best looking game I've seen so far. Sometimes it's hard to manage what's going on and everything feels a little too slow

dinosire 2019-04-30 00:27

This is so cool, one of the most impressive games I've seen so far, awesome job!

kovakomes 2019-04-30 00:47

There's something about the hand drawn black and white look that's so appealing. The little sound effects made this game even more charming. Well done!

cheesepencil 2019-04-30 01:17

sound seemed super quiet, great entry tho

oku 2019-04-30 05:53

Nice message, loved the mood. I liked shaking the planet so much!

tattomoosa 2019-04-30 07:57

Really cool! Loved the art and their little screams. Definitely would have liked it zoomed in a bit more. Nice take on the theme, too.

thegamer1123211 2019-04-30 08:42

I absolutely loved the art! The gameplay was fun, the sound was good, overall a really good game!

mrpiedpiper 2019-04-30 08:44

This game is really amazing! The graphics are beautiful and unique, the sounds are so fitting (Great ambient noise), and shaking people off the bottom of the planet is both humorous, and makes fun noises!

Something you might want to consider adding if you keep developing this: I kept looking at that one meteor just floating around and thinking, "I sure wish I could use that."

liauj 2019-04-30 08:55

This was extremely relaxing to play, a nice change of pace from the other action games. Thank you for sharing your workflow as well!

grllle 2019-04-30 08:56

@mrpiedpiper Thanks for your kind words. Yeah, many ideas for additional 'weapons'. The meteor didn't cross my mind yet, great idea!

walik 2019-04-30 09:13

Loved the humorous tone, the graphics, animations and sound effects are hilarous.

ioleoso 2019-04-30 10:22

Loved the artwork and the SFX (pitched voices made me laugh loud). Actually the music is quite low in the mix (even with headset and volume 100%) but the moog sound is always a good choice!

deathbysnail 2019-04-30 11:49

Love the look and the audio!

pete-h 2019-04-30 12:34

Really lovely little game! Art and audio are brilliant and game play is really nice.

Felt the time ticked by quite quickly and things got out of control fast, but think with a bit more time I would get a the hang of it!

Great submission, thanks!

trifectuh 2019-04-30 15:08

Incredible visual style, nice job!

taddl 2019-04-30 17:21

Really good game, I love graphics and the audio. I also like the gameplay concept and how it all plays together.

I only found the control to be a little finicky with the mouse shaking. And a little background music would have been nice.

grllle 2019-04-30 17:23

@taddl Thank you! there actually is some background music. Little to subtle i suppose :)

anstabo 2019-04-30 19:11

Love the ink paper style, it works great with the gameplay, it took me 1 minute even after reading the instruction how to fully play it, would be nice to have objectives more than just stay alive, great concept though !

rancoud 2019-04-30 19:33

Interesting, stylished, audio works very well. Great job!

vanleiden 2019-04-30 19:41

This is amazing. What a cute concept and art style!

inkyglow 2019-04-30 20:37

This is awesome! I love that you went for hand-drawn graphics, and the gameplay is unique and fun. It kind of reminds me of the Samorost games, from the feeling it has. Great job doing something this innovative in 24hr!

sarneh 2019-04-30 21:20

Wow! This is so... I don't know how to describe that. Games like this for me is the reason why I love game development. I love that you can take any idea from your head and use your creativity to create something so pleasant like this diamond. Love it! :)

grllle 2019-04-30 21:47

@sarneh man, I can feel you! Your words mean a lot to me!

kristinnes 2019-04-30 23:11

Great game. I love the graphics especially. Well done

jamesolivermusic 2019-05-01 11:17

Very nice! I like the art style. And the lack of music seemed to work in your favor. Well done!

seriar 2019-05-01 15:46

This game looks awesome and is nice to play. Great job!

invader 2019-05-01 17:00

It is hard to understand how to get rid of the colonists without reading the instructions. Some floating text with hint what to do after the first colonists landed on the planet would make the experience better. Once you understand how to shake off these nasty colonists, game becomes much more fun. Especially when they are falling down into outer space with screams ))) Nice effect! And very distinct and pleasant visual style.

lumpy 2019-05-01 17:33

I really enjoyed the art style you went for here. A well thought out choice, considering you had to work efficiently. Well done!

richard-jedlicka 2019-05-01 19:57

Haha, thats funny. I like it. Great hand-drawn visuals.

garys 2019-05-01 21:00

The artwork is great, and aside from the actual gameplay the little touches make it so much fun to play. I loved the sound effects... honestly this is the first game I've played from LD44 that really made me laugh (at the sounds of the little humans falling off of the planet). Really slick presentation... loved this.

raphael-maia 2019-05-01 21:43

I loved this artstyle so much

oivin-f 2019-05-01 21:56

Very fun, inventive game, and I love the hand-drawn aesthetic! I feel the clouds moved a little slowly though, but for the short experience that it is its a pretty fulfilling one

abraxas-interactive 2019-05-01 22:07

LOL the screams of the colonists had me dying. This is a fun little game, love the art style, too, and who wouldn't? Awesome work, keep making stuff like this.

dani-desa 2019-05-01 22:48

Oh this was amazing. I always wanted to do something in this kind of graphics style. Remind me of this game called "Hidden Folks". I would love to learn the process of making it, please if you do a post-mortem send me the link or let me know. Also I think this game with this graphics it would be perfect as a Mobile Game where you shake the phone and use your fingers to rotate. I think it has a really good potential. At the beginning I was thinking that everything was too small but I think it is better small! And the audio, it really fits into the game. 24h for this? My God.

jvolonte 2019-05-02 00:13

Cute and original! Nice entry

m-meow 2019-05-02 00:32

Like the concept, even fullscreen it felt small though.

(disclaimer - I played with a track-pad making the gestures slightly more difficult)

neowedge 2019-05-02 12:11

Great game, but it's very difficult!!! I love ambientation, good job!

udo 2019-05-02 12:27

I laughed so hard playing this, well done! I liked the cute little sounds everybody makes all the time. I do wish this had a different control scheme though, maybe two keys for rotation or something, but that would also change the difficulty of course...

cee-dee 2019-05-02 15:03

This game is DIFFERENT! The minimalistic sounds and its art make it stand out! Really good work!

Although I looked it up in the description, I could not find out how to really succeed at this game. Maybe you could have pointed that out in-game.

I think,if you had more time to polish to game, this would have become a real burner -- although it's already exciting!

firellon 2019-05-02 19:16

Solid. Unusual concept and design, liked shaking colonists off a lot (though felt a bit sorry for them), charging clouds feels good too (is there a way to get new clouds?)

I think, it would make a big difference if you scale everything up to a degree you could see the colonists and their faces

The graphics of this style is certainly charming

Keep it up!

jk5000 2019-05-02 19:42

An super well made and funny little game. The graphics and sounds is pretty amazing. Well done.

tommyflower 2019-05-02 21:54

I hoped that someone could make a game about the planet in a not rhetorical way. This game is very funny, mainly because of the cool sounds effects. It was easy to understand and play and I really enjoyed the interaction and animation. The craphics are cute,I would have liked to have a closer look at the planet maybe. Great entry!

gurkan96 2019-05-03 11:53

Great Visuals love the game would have liked a in game tutorial.

mika-la-grand 2019-05-03 17:51

Great drawings, though it is hard to see the humans. Maybe you can create more contrast between the planet and the humans, to make it easier to see how many and were they are located on the planet. I also saw that you added the Moon, perhaps the player can slam the Moon into the Earth to get rid of loads of humans at once (while doing damage to the Earth).

flamus 2019-05-04 14:11

Well done! This game looks great and is absolutely amazing to play. Gameplay give me some nostalgic vibes of notebook sketches.I felt relax after playing for a while... not mentioning being angry at greedy colonists :D Congrats!

lexyvil 2019-05-05 07:17

Interesting concept! Never seen one like it. The only thing I wish the game had was a way to zoom in a little, the colonists were rather small on my screen~

jjjjason 2019-05-06 02:21

Everything feels quite designed for such a short time period, great work on that. The audio adds a really unsettling sort of vibe for me, which is definitely not what I expected going in!

Edit: thinking about it, this game very strongly captures the feeling of when you're a kid and you turn yourself upside and are afraid of falling into the sky. Turns out the planet's been rooting for that to happen.

jin9310 2019-05-06 17:24

Love how you have approached the art style! Amazing

pixel-boy 2019-05-07 15:14

I haven't succed to protect my planet but never mind, the drawn art style is well done, combined with the sound effects light, the atmosphere is quite calm and relaxing, I enjoyed the experience ^^

kuro 2019-05-07 23:39

I'm really surprised by this. Simple, yet original, polished, fun, and awesome, and in 24 hours? Are you a wizard?

To me, this is a perfect LD submission.

amerigo-gazaway 2019-05-08 06:32

Brilliant concept and execution with the hand drawn artwork. Love the SFX as well, perfectly fitting!

joshyoshkenoshi 2019-05-09 09:47

I absolutely adore your hand-drawn art style in this game! I felt that that this entry fits the theme really well, and is simple and fun to play. The only slight issue I experienced was that I sometimes found it a little bit difficult to see where colonists were because they were so small.

musxue 2019-05-11 12:42

like the visual style. My suggestion is maybe you can make the rotate action more--how to say--more attracting and powerful? And also the thunder.

I should thank you for tell me another possiblity of "Your life is currency".

tamail 2019-05-11 14:55

Oooh, I loved this one! I really like the audio and visuals of the game, it was really cute and awesome! I also loved the gameplay and idea itself! I have nothing to say against this game :)

henanboy 2019-05-13 01:27

The art for this game is amazing, and the sound effects give it so much life. The game play, while simple, is very satisfying (Especial shaking the colonists off), fun, and polished. Awesome game! I really enjoyed playing it.

gurkenlabs 2019-05-13 20:36

Beatifully hand-drawn art and a unique concept make this game stand out from all the compo games. The goofy voice-acting was also pretty fun. I would have loved some music to round the experience. Also, the controls were not too intuitive. But all in all, I really enjoyed your game!

grllle 2019-05-13 21:00

@gurkenlabs yeah, the music is quite subtle ;) Thank you for your kind words!

arkinrev 2019-05-13 23:40

Everything was great! I loved the entire hand drawn style, the sounds, and shaking people off of the planet, as well as the tie in with the theme. Great!

aeveis 2019-05-18 06:32

resources depleted after 553 years. Liked the game! The drawn art style is nice and the sounds are very cute. I wish things were a bit more zoomed in so I could see it better, like where the people are on the planet. The shaking mechanic was really nice, could be cool to see more done with it. The clouds were useful for buildings, but they were very slow to move. Nice job!
