Woah really solid looking game, I loved your take on the theme I think you really nailed it!

Woah really solid looking game, I loved your take on the theme I think you really nailed it!
Super cute game! I agree that the delay is a little aggravating, but I'm assuming that was an intentional design decision. I can see this being not the most user friendly game for non-programmer types, but I really enjoyed it. Good job!
super cute game, I love the use of a cat's 9 lives, great use of the theme!
This game is great lol, love the theme
Dude this game is amazing! Can't believe you did it all yourself, astounding job!
Really cool game, it's very impressive that you got this much done! I don't have much to add that others haven't already said, but I wish there was more feedback when hitting the oil wells as I wasn't sure if they were destructible at first. Overall great job, and I love your improvised sound effects!
MOOD. Looked amazing! I'm not sure I dig the timers on the cards as it made me panic and kinda skim all of the cards. Pretty cool concept tho, and super ambitious to make a card game for a jam. Great job!
Thanks everyone for the great feedback, and for playing! I’ll definitely keep all of your feedback in mind if I continue this project.
@lyrcaxis yeah this was the first time I actually tried to take LD seriously, didn't realize I shoulda opted out of audio, don't think I can anymore? Glad you were able to satiate the demon lord!
@voidfishing thanks for the feedback! I agree that I should have added more feedback when the ghosts hurt you (they take a small amount of essence from you on contact), and I wanted to add a skill on cooldown to push them away from you, but didn't get the time to add it all in.
Really nice art, and the music is really cool too! I would have liked a prompt on the start screen to tell me how to start (unless I missed it). Overall, is a really cool game, good job!
Wow loved the art and sound in this game, super well done! I felt a little confused in the actual gameplay part, as I didn't realize right away that I needed to click on the customer to give them their ice cream. I think it'd be better to have the icecream stretch out to them, but I understand the constraints of this jam and you definitely did an amazing job in such a short time. Great job!
Wow great game, such soothing music, really love your implementation of the theme. Great job!
This is so cool, one of the most impressive games I've seen so far, awesome job!
Lol I love your take on the theme, this is great!
Really liked the art style, really solid game! I agree with what @entirelybees said, it was pretty hard to get to the shop and pick up the green fluff in the hectic chaos. Overall though, it was great!
This is a really cool concept, and the art is insane! I love the mood, so cool. But why do I have to walk back from the start? Makes it a bit tedious. Overall tho, great job!
I love the aesthetic of this game, sounds are super great too! A little light on the gameplay side tho, and took me a little while to figure out how the game works, but overall really cool!
Really good execution of the theme! The art is very solid, effects and sounds are really juicy, good work there. As others have mentioned, it's a bit repetitive, but there's only so much you can do in 2 days. Great work!
Really cool take on the theme, very impressive that you were able to make this and so many levels in such a short time. The game does feel rather complicated, but you've done your best to clear that up with the in-depth tutorial both in the game and in the description. Good work!
Really neat concept, I like your idea of "loop within a loop". I agree with the others, it was a little confusing understanding how to control the game, and after I captured a bunch of dragons, it was impossible to lose. Overall though, great work! The art and sounds were great!
Really cute game, props to you for raising awareness through the jam! I found the boat a little slow to control, and it was a but unclear if I was supposed to drop the collected garbage off somewhere and how to go faster. Overall though, I really like the art and concept. Great work!
This is a hilarious concept, and super beautiful in graphics/music/mood. The controls were super hard to figure out though, some basic tutorial could have helped, and it seemed that the controls flipped if you were hit by one of the spinning things. Really neat, really weird, great stuff.
Man this is a really impressive entry. I thought I was clever coming up with "sticking enemies in loops, not you", but my solution seems a looooot less cool and polished than yours, the rope physics are really cool, and the sound / FX are super juicy, I had a blast playing.
That being said, I did find the controls a little weird, as I kept holding the left click thinking it would cast the rope farther. Using the same button to throw / pull back didn't click with me, but that might just be my personal preference. I'm not sure if this was a deliberate design decision, but it would have been nice to be able to retract the loop when it was electrified, although that might make things too easy. I also think some kind of visual indicator to know how much rope you have left would have been helpful.
Anyway, I think this is really the most polished, complete, innovative, and on-theme Jam game I've played so far, great job!
Really cute game, love the art! The music is sooooo catchy I legit wanna just listen to this on it's own. Nice take on the concept too, really impressive that you got this done in 2 days.
Thanks @yeomsley @jessifin @engired @ale for the nice comments! I agree @ale, if I had more time I would have reduced the drop rate of pickups, thanks for the feedback!
Thanks @nethead I really appreciate that!
That's super fair criticism @rhoff95, the controls changed a lot during development and I guess I got used to the somewhat weird controls. I think you can use left CTRL/ALT to simulate the clicks as well, but that's not super comfortable. I like the idea of placing the wands near the wizard, I'll keep that in mind if I expand on this in the future.
Thanks @thelonewolf @magnusfurcifer @danman9914 I'm glad you had fun with it!
Thanks for the great feedback @namidasai @frogman @dracominer @omar-14! @frogman the dash definitely doesn't work like other games, so I can see that being surprising. If I had more time, the goal was to make interesting tradeoffs where you could accidentally push the demons out of the loop if you just spam it all the time, so I would have liked to expand on that a bit more. @dracominer I agree the demon movements are way too erratic, I wanted to add in patrols for some, and have some of the demons try to attack your wands but I ran out of time before getting that in a usable state. Great feedback nonetheless!
Thanks @nerdytopic for your feedback! I agree, the floor is quite busy and uniform, I'll keep that in mind for next time. I've never really thought of using proper colour theory for jams, I just kind of go by gut feeling, so that's something I'll definitely look into for the next project. I'm glad you liked the idea and had fun playing!
WOW! This has to be my favourite game of the jam so far. I'll admit, I didn't get it at first, but after realizing the health packs made my hoop bigger I had a much better go of it. Then I thought "oh this is too easy now, I'll just keep crushing these fools", then the lazers started firing. It took me a while to realize they were coming from horrific creatures that I could only push back with the hoop, but it was so cool to see them for the first time. The last 10 seconds were the most intense I've felt in a jam game. Kudos to you, I love everything about this game. Nailed the theme, the art, and the sounds.
Suuuuper aesthetic game, love the music and how it changes when you get the triangle. I found the reloading at checkpoint controls a little jarring, as I'd often be holding a direction when I died, and expected to keep going in that direction when I reloaded. Other than that, really neat take on the theme, very well executed, great job!
Lol this is hilarious, I liked the touch of the screen darkening, thought my eyes were going on me, good touch.
Cute game, love the 3D graphics, and the colours you chose were really nice to look at! Took me a bit to get a hang of the controls, but I was able to pretty quickly get to the ground after a few minutes. Neat concept!
Really neat take on the theme, I think this was the perfect place to explore this idea. I'm not much of a fan of pinball, but I must say it's impressive you made a level that (at least to me) didn't have any places you could get stuck in. I would have liked more interactability in this game (as others have already mentioned), but overall this is a really cool experiment. Great work!
Good job making a complete game in just 48 hours! Like other have said, it's lacking a bit in mechanics, but what you do have is really solid. If you were wanting to expand on this, it could be improved by making multiple rings that you can jump between with the other arrow keys and reducing the amount of time you need to sit on a glowing section to close it. Overall great work!
Ugh this is too real, amazing job!
I looooved the style of this game, and getting all of the music going was so satisfying. Really interesting take on the theme, great work!
Wow, really cool take on the theme, and like others have said, super impressive you were able to get this done in time. Took me a little bit to figure out what the goal was, and to navigate the menus, but that might be due to me not being very familiar with Pico-8. Overall though, one of the most impressive things I've seen so far, great work!
Really nice puzzle game making good use of the theme, great work! I appreciate your thoughtfulness in adding tutorial levels at the start, although I would have like the relevant information distilled in less words. Overall, great work!
Like others have said, this game looks and sounds amazing. I love the extra beat the rockets add to the music. It was hard to tell when the rocket hit the enemies as it didn't blow up on contact with them, and the death animation wasn't clear (it looked like I was still playing, perhaps screen shake/sounds/colours would have made this more clear?). Overall though, this is amazing for such a short amount of time, great work!
This is so chill and felt therapeutic to play after grinding to make a game over the weekend. I had fun absent-mindedly jumping up and down while listening to the music. I like the idea of the level being made out of the music notes too, thanks for posting!
Love love love this idea, so cool. The sounds are nice and crunchy, it feels really nice to play and look at too! Like others have said, it seems a little too hard, perhaps you could have started with larger enemies. I think this was a great submission to the jam, you could really expand on this idea as well, allowing the player to jump between rings and switch between shooting inwards and outwards, having external and internal threats, lots of possibilities!
