for mac os i got could not find game
Tried on Win10 with an Xbox One controller and a 360 controller and wasn't able to get it working. Even one on keyboard and one on 360 controller didn't work, all register as player 1
Played by myself and man that car is hard to control. I think part of it is that there are only so many sprites so I can't tell exactly which way I am turning. I liked all the characters and really appreciate the effort towards a couch multiplayer game!
Great job! I played until I maxed out acceleration and handling.
The upgrade system is great! you can really feel that you made a difference to your vehicles properties. The sprite doesnt accurately convey what direction you're heading but once I got used to the controls it felt pretty good handling-wise. Nice job!
Graphics and the scene looks great. The movement was very interesting and grew on me after a while. It was just a bit difficult for to keep track of where I was sometimes.
Really fun game! I fell behind at one point and instead of trying to catch up I started driving the course backwards to cause as many crashes as possible! :D Good job.
I loved the art style. Well done !
Fun audio. The music is also great!
I like the art style and the sound and music fit well. good job!
A big mess at the beginning or I went upside down, but it's a good first step towards car games! good job.
I only ran two laps before getting bored and quitting. I understand the 8-directional limitation of sprites, but that doesn't mean the car shouldn't be able to move when pressing the directional arrows. I'm sure the upgrades would have improved the car's performance... I get it. But I just didn't feel like torturing myself only to find out the car handled better after the initial grind. Then again, it's a 3 day game jam, so.... not bad considering the time/effort.
I tried this on my mac and got an "unable to find game" message
Nice work guys, impressed that this is a fully-implemented game with a core game loop, secondary game loop, AI, auto-generated content, multiple maps, progression system, etc. That's quite a lot to get done in the 72 hours!
My only major complaint is about the start of each race. I would: 1. Have a delay between when the race track opens and the race actually starts. It was a bit jarring the first few times to take in all that information at once! 2. Align the player's vehicle in the direction that the race goes. Always took a second to orient myself in the right direction. Either that or always have the race start on a "down" section of track.
Challenging game! I am impressed you were able to make this in such a short amount of time. It seems like a full featured game. I also really liked the audio and artwork.
Pretty cool stuff, a nice grooving tune, and the art and gameplay work well together with a slight-goofy slightly-madmax mashup that I liked.
The first few races were real tough for me. Race one I was figuring out the keys and because the car points in a random direction, even though I guessed the controls right I went backwards. The next 3-4 races I was still confounded by the random start direction, and as soon as I fell behind in those first few seconds that was it, I never got near another racer again unless I drove backwards for laughs and some interaction. I also struggled with the walls, because the collider doesn't really align super-well with the sprite in some places.
But, after some races I started getting the hang of the controls, and also got a few upgrades. I learned how critical those first few seconds are and was prepared to be facing the wrong way. I got semi-okay at cornering, releasing gas as I approached the turn, and being extra careful about not hugging the walls.... and I was able to finish in 4th in my best race! A big improvement from "always always last" that were the first maybe half dozen races.
Cool little rally-rumbler with some panache - nice work!
Heh, that's pretty cool. I used to play games like this back in the day. You don't see them around much anymore.
I love Rock N' Roll Racing (SNES), cool to see a game that (I am guessing) was inspired by it. Really like the characters, they were hilarious.
