Really like the hand drawn asthetic. Nice work!

2018-12-04 02:42

I second the love for the hand drawn aesthetic! One note though, I don't know if I'm just playing it wrong, but once my rocket went into space, even with the fast forward button at max, it still was just floating over the earth for the longest time and that kinda got old after awhile. Maybe it's just me. Anyways, this was great!

fernando-tonon-de-rossi 2018-12-04 02:48

Really liked the art style and the SFX!

Didn't get how does it fit the theme, but it's still an interesting game! Congratulations!

I got fired several times... :sob:

secretmapper 2018-12-04 02:51

As others have said the aesthetic is unique and beautiful!

dry-squid 2018-12-04 03:35

Very pretty, but doesn't follow the theme

zebshee 2018-12-04 04:58

Really fun style!

alobker 2018-12-04 17:46

The art was amazing, but it needs some improvements in terms of gameplay. Having to click 10 times before launching a rocket was kind of annoying.

jared-york 2018-12-04 19:45

@trifectuh Thanks! I think drawing the art took me less time than if I were to make it pixel art.

jared-york 2018-12-04 20:00

@betz Hmm... your first module should be centered in the middle of the station view. Earth wasn't moving underneath? I'm glad you liked the art! ^_^

@fernando-tonon-de-rossi Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed my art. I was trying to approach the theme from the angle of making sacrifices with the money you have. You can't launch a Shuttle, or another other rocket except the Neutron off the bat. You also have to make a choice of which module (payload) to launch with the cash you have. Yeah, getting fired just happens haha. If your cash is in the red for too long, you get fired.

@secretmapper I appreciate it! It turned out about as well as it could in the time allotted.

@dry-squid I'm happy you're fond of the art! In terms of the theme, I was trying to approach it with the angle of making sacrifices with the money you're given. For example, you can't launch a Shuttle, or any other rocket with the cash you have immediately, because you won't be able to afford any of the modules. It's all about making decisions about which rocket and module you can afford to launch, while keeping in mind how many discovery points and cash they generate.

@zebshee Thanks Zebshee!

@alobker I'm glad you enjoy the art! The reason why there's so many clicks to launch is to force players to make strategic decisions about which rocket and payload to launch. This as well as how many discovery points and cash the payload they wish to launch would generate to make up the costs. I guess I could have made it without any option to select your rocket and payload, but there would be virtually no decision making or depth. Thanks for the feedback though!

@jared-york Props then! It truly is one of the most beautiful games i've ever seen. would love to see this released for a kindle or e-ink display

jared-york 2018-12-04 20:21

@dry-squid I may very well consider that. I'll let you know if I make a Kindle or e-ink version. Thanks for playing! ^_^

bananamellow 2018-12-04 20:45

Love the artstyle! Great game, but I had a bit of trouble understanding what were the pros and cons of chosing diferent tipes of shuttles for example

ente 2018-12-05 02:02

Hm... I didn't really get what I had to do in the game. I had several of the loads in space and could interact with them but I tried several times and didn't really see the logic behind it. Hmmm... Some explanations how you get the points and what is your job would have been nice! :) I liked the animations of the rocket launching!

justalocalhero 2018-12-05 03:35

Really great look. Love that you can watch your station orbiting earth. I'm sure I wasn't playing optimally, but it seemed a little on the tedious side, just waiting for the numbers to slowly tick up so that I could afford the next launch.

coda-highland 2018-12-05 03:36

I have to agree with @ente and @betz, I can't figure out how to actually play. It seemed fairly obvious that you just picked the cheapest options for the first couple of launches because that's all you can possibly afford, then twiddle your thumbs on fast-forward for a long time because there's no obvious way to make money except to just wait for it to slowly increase. Ten weeks later and I've not even made half a million cash when the cheapest rocket I can launch costs way more than that. What am I missing?

daniel-grinshpon 2018-12-05 04:07

I'm loving the paper art, but it's a bit difficult to figure out what I'm actually supposed to do.

jared-york 2018-12-05 04:24

@bananamellow Thanks for playing! I'm glad you like the art style! There's not really any game affecting pros and cons for the different rockets yet other than cost. There's a menu on the bottom left that you can click to view the stats of each rocket.

@ente Yeah, I didn't have time to really make docking actually do anything. :| I tried to add the brief explanation when you first enter the game, but I only had 15 minutes before submission. I'll try to improve it! :) I'm glad you liked the animations, they are what I'm most proud of with this game. Thank you for playing!

@justalocalhero I'm glad you like the station view! I didn't have enough time to really check how balanced the game is. I believe it's actually impossible to launch another rocket without being fired. :( I will try to fix this and make the game beatable in a post-jam version. :) Thanks for playing!

@coda-highland You're right, in the beginning you can really only afford the cheapest option. I didn't have enough time before submitting to ensure the game is actually beatable, or even able to afford another rocket. You're not missing another, nor is it your fault. I will be balancing everything and will be releasing another version ASAP. Thank you for your feedback and for playing!

@daniel-grinshpon Thanks for trying it out! I'm glad you like the art. I will try to update the game in a post-jam version and make the explanations a bit more clear.

daniel-grinshpon 2018-12-05 04:28

I think you got a lot of potential here. Maybe make a better tutorial/instructions, and once you flesh it out it could be really great fun. Once I kinda started to understand, I was having fun.

arvejeitor 2018-12-05 11:38

LOVED the art style! very original

hystaf 2018-12-05 16:37

I like the idea but the beginning is really hard to hunderstand what you have to do.

willbl3pic 2018-12-05 17:28

Love the aesthetic.

pandanym 2018-12-06 05:41

Didn't read the info, got 2 billion in debt in the first few seconds... Whoops. Don't put me in charge of nasa. Of course like everyone else, I'm going to praise the art style, even if if sometimes was a little bit detrimental to readability. Didn't understand at first how to build the space station, and when I did I lost ! Well, I tried again and it was actually really fun. Thank you for this entry !

vodish 2018-12-06 06:38

I liked the graphics, but I got fired every time right at the beginning, no idea how to get a successful run. I'm as good at this game as in Kerbal

purpledartfrog 2018-12-06 07:50

Love the aesthetics of the game - good job

julianeder33 2018-12-06 12:22

I love the art style. Some mackground music would be nice.

chrismcmath 2018-12-06 17:52

Your passion for space exploration really shines through and gives the game a wholesome, loved feel. It's clear you know a lot about this subject and sometimes that can be a little overwhelming, but your charming vocals and visual effects soften what could have been a dry affair.
