Well, i like the idea of health as your upgrades currency. It allows you to play safe or risk and upgrade every time to 1 health point. One thing I think you may consider to change: Shooting is under W, what is a little bit strange for me, because it's more like move upwards button than shooting. Maybe change it to spacebar and btw, put in description controls, even if they are simple like A D to move left, right and W to shoot.

@don-kyniu Thanks for the feedback. I've added spacebar as another button that can shoot
i really like the art. It was a bit difficult to upgrade while playing because I still had to play the game. After a few upgrades I was crushing all enemies easily :-D
Nice gameplay and graphics, the game concept was also personal.
I'm just wondering does compo rules let one use CC licensed material, even if one opts the corresponding category out? If it does, then no problem.

A different take on space invaders. Fun!
@jani-nykanen for the Compo everything should be created (with the exception of fonts) in the allocated 48 hours.

@paul59 thanks for letting me know that, I'll try and make my own music for the next ludum dare. I guess I should change my submission from Compo to Jam to keep within the rules now.

cute game, very hectic! lots of bullets raining down! it would be good to have some sort of feedback when a bullet hits so you can get a feel for the hitboxes and when to dodge :)
(minor technical detail) this didn't work on firefox 56 for me, it said to rebuild with assertions enabled.
Neat idea, I did find upgrading early makes it ridiculously easy. I'd play with the difficulty curve a bit.
