Very stylish

jozgames 2019-04-30 01:57

A arte ficou belíssima e gostei da jogabilidade baseada em escolhas que combina perfeitamente com o tema

Não sei como conseguiu fazer algo tão estiloso e polido em tão pouco tempo

maloy 2019-04-30 02:09

I definitely love the art style, very nice work !

2019-04-30 02:50

blednaya 2019-04-30 08:08

Nice one. Especially art and animation!

ananda 2019-04-30 11:08

The art is great!

bootlegjoe 2019-04-30 11:19

Awesome art style, fitting music, perfectly adhering to the theme and an actual fun game to play! Great job! Though there's one small bug where you can pay and then mash buttons to force yourself to the next level. (^: But overall, this was an amazing game, great job!

banzi 2019-04-30 11:26

Awesome artstyle, awesome music and well balanced. Very good job!

selewi 2019-04-30 11:28

@bootlegjoe Hey thank you for the feedback! Could you please send me the steps to reproduce this bug so I can fix it ? We will appreciate it a lot!

saulodaniel 2019-04-30 11:50

Very good, I found iterate the mechanics of the attack taking a specific combination of keys. Art and audio are wonderful, too.

selewi 2019-04-30 11:54

@saulodaniel Thank you for your comment! Yeah, combat is only A,S,D,Q,W and E so the player doesn't have to take off the hand from the mouse :)

Glad you like the art and audio, have a nice day!

ekilibr 2019-04-30 11:56

My 5 stars for the mood of the game. It has a pretty unique feeling, that support very well the gameplay. Great entry, good job!

purrseus 2019-04-30 11:58

Wow, this game feels incredibly polished! You fully forget it was a LD entry :open_mouth:

Amazingly well done; gameplay, tone, graphics, audio - it all fits - and how it fits!

It's a little like a Darkest Dungeon typing gambling game. I love it.

selewi 2019-04-30 11:59

@purrseus

>It’s a little like a Darkest Dungeon typing gambling game

Wanna be the marketing guy ?

justcamh 2019-04-30 12:00

All-round outstanding! The game didn't always feel overly fair though, since most enemies required that you take a blow. I thus found it hard to get new items, as the lost health almost always killed me... I also wish that I could have used an exclusively keyboard control scheme for the buttons. I was stuck using the keyboard for the game, and the mouse for the ui. Otherwise, outstanding, just as other commenters have said!

selewi 2019-04-30 12:04

@justcamh

Thank you for your feedback we appreciate it a lot! Big part of the game is chosing wisely between fighting against the beasts or doing a little sacrifice to avoid the combat, you can estimate the damage you'll take by making some simple maths with the enemy attributes and your typing skills... Use your wallet at your own convenience!

bootlegjoe 2019-04-30 12:21

@selewi All I did was just mash the Q-W-E-A-S-D and space keys, after paying to get to the next room, and it would spawn me there with 0 hp.

viktorwii 2019-04-30 12:28

Whoah, this game looks really interesting! One of my favorites btw

lamossus 2019-04-30 12:32

Shops seem to appear more often early game which is kinda weird because you don't have much health at that point and can only afford one item or sometimes none at all. And then later when you have a bunch of health you don't encounter any shops and enemies just start to beat you by stats. A bit more even distribution of the shops would make the game feel much more fair imo. Other than that the game is great! Loved the art especially

selewi 2019-04-30 13:00

@lamossus Every room has a chance of appearing, shops and fountains has a slighty less than common encounter rooms, you just had bad luck with your run... I must agree that the room selection needs some balancing/rework, but we hadn't enough time :(

yohsk13 2019-04-30 13:07

Great game, great ambiance, great dark art that remind me a lot of The darkest Dungeon ^^. Great Dungeon experience.

Ps : I did indeed find a way to cheat through rooms : you can overpay an item at the shop or pay the blood cost of an ennemy then rapidely press space bar to continue to the next room. (it allow you to continue with 0 blood points. until a Brute fight appear at least ^^")

selewi 2019-04-30 13:12

@yohsk13 This seems like a game breaking bug, I'll fix it asap! Thank you :)

team-kelly 2019-04-30 13:19

Soooooo good! One of my favourites from the jam and probably the most polished I've played yet. Cool graphics and tone but the design is where it really shines. I love how it has you weighing up what you think you're capable of and what you're willing to risk.

somogy 2019-04-30 15:14

Dude!!! Great game, i like this graphics, the concept...awesome!

selewi 2019-04-30 15:17

@team-kelly @somogy Cool guys! Make sure to post your scores :)

borys 2019-04-30 15:31

Game is awesome! I love Darkest Dungeon so I have to love this art style, it's amazing. Music is also so great! Gameplay is very good too, but I think that skipping the encounters is too much already in my opinion. Anyway, excellent work guys! One of the best entries!

mateusboga 2019-04-30 15:35

This game is so freking HARD! I cant' seem to get past room 5 lol. Awesome game though! I love the aesthetic and the sounds. Greak work!

akros 2019-04-30 15:36

Gives me Darkest Dungeon vibes, love it!

nico-fallosch 2019-04-30 15:55

What i liked: aweseome artwork! awesome Music! It represents the mood very well! And i really like the music adeout on death the fighting system, nice animations and good idea

what i disliked: the fighting system gets very fast repetitive it gets fast boring after optaining the excalibur^^

but overall awesome game i like it weill done all of you

shadow30 2019-04-30 16:17

I love the atmosphere in this game. Excellent graphic. The difficulty is a bit odd in my opinion, often ending in a one hit death.

sanavesa 2019-04-30 16:42

In love with the atmosphere too! Good job :D

z0rlog 2019-04-30 16:44

Wow! Really nicely made game. Graphics, audio, mechanics, loved everything! Although I was not able to buy anything at the store every time I was there, slow typer here  Anyway, my final score 10 spiders out of 10 imps!

dooda 2019-04-30 16:56

I hate to say this because I believe in the importance of constructive criticism, but this game is perfect. The art, music and idea are top notch. As a fan of Darkest dungeon I strongly approve.

selewi 2019-04-30 17:00

@dooda Those are strong words there, thank you <3

noemigruner 2019-04-30 17:50

Super cool game, clean, can be found on Steam ! Nice art work et sound :)

shaner421 2019-04-30 18:43

The style is to die for!!! Whoever did the art should be super proud. The gameplay is great, and I had a blast. Thanks for making this game!!! :)

ahmed-ali 2019-04-30 18:47

Great Superb...Bro.You will be proud of yourself for making this game in 48 or 72 hours

biebras 2019-04-30 18:51

This game is master pease, how did you make it in 3 days, that's dope, first-time giviing5 stars in all categories.

davidpixel 2019-04-30 19:14

Such a great game! So far the best one I have played in the Jam. All the Really good in all the categories, good job to all the team!

probe31 2019-04-30 19:17

I like the art of this game and the feedback for any action that i made.

sheepolution 2019-04-30 20:50

Very well done. Plays really well and looks polished. I like the fighting mechanic, very simple but it works. It's easy to underestimate your opponent. I don't have any complaints so good job!

anstabo 2019-04-30 21:07

Great darkest dungeon style visuals, you've clearly made the combat system with QWERTY keyboard in mind, because it's a bit hard to play on an AZERTY one, maybe arrow keys would be better ?

selewi 2019-04-30 21:12

@anstabo oh my god... how didn’t notice this ? I’d like to add support for that keyboard, would you mind testing it ? Send me a DM through twitter (@selewidev) i’ll be grateful!

giu-zcc 2019-04-30 21:19

Love the graphic, nice work!

jharler 2019-04-30 21:27

This is pretty fantastic. The art, sounds, music, effects are all top notch and very well polished. My only complaint is the difficulty ramps up quickly. I would've liked to encountered easier enemies for a while to grow accustomed to the controls and how the game works.

selewi 2019-04-30 21:39

@jharler Thank you for the feedback! We agree that the learning/difficulty curve is quite steep, we didn't have enough time to balance all the stuff but once you get used you will be slamming demons ;) !

selewi 2019-04-30 21:47

@anstabo Rolled out the update! [AZERTY Support](https://selewi.itch.io/blood-n-goods/devlog/78986/azerty-support)

dennis-jeong 2019-04-30 22:09

very cool art style! I wonder why you chose to do it with wasd instead of the entire keyboard? After i realized that the combat was a typing game, I switched my hand to typing position and it was a lot easier. Also, I feel like the fancy font you chose didn't make a lot of sense, because it was really hard to instantly tell QWEASD apart from each other.

selewi 2019-04-30 22:13

@dennis-jeong Thank you for the feedback! The reason we've chosen only Q,W,E,A,S and D is because it makes the game a lot more accesible to all players, there are some people that take a lot of time to write out there, aside from that, you don't need to put away your hand from the mouse (which is neccesary for interacting with the UI) so, that control scheme was a 2 for 1 there.

About the font, you could be certain about that, but well, aesthetics... :P

voidfishing 2019-04-30 22:44

this is a really cool idea and the art style is amazing - it's so stylish and polished, really impressive for a game jam. nice work!!

rancoud 2019-04-30 22:57

I like the ambiant and style. Like I said on twitch, I'm left handed so using AZEQSD is not easy for me, but I really like your game mechanics. Like you said adding the possibility to use 789456 keys on keypad is a good idea :)

jvolonte 2019-05-01 01:59

Oh boy the visuals! What an astonishing game. Great atmosphere, gameplay was entertaining and everything felt truly polished! Great work guys

rumsquawks 2019-05-01 04:32

To be honest, I came into this thinking that it would play a lot like Darkest Dungeon, but you really took the concept and went your own way with it! The button-press mechanic is really simple and fun (and it makes me realize how bad I am with navigating my own keyboard). Also, THOSE VISUALS. You're artwork reminds me a lot of Mike Mignola's and that's awesome. Only criticism I have is that the death screen takes a while to fade out and isn't skippable. Other than that, fantastic!

Also, wow, how did you get those sprites so crisp with Unity! I feel like the engine typically crushes the heck outta everything, haha.

ratz 2019-05-01 08:38

This is sick! The quality of this one is superb! Congratulation, great job!

drauthius 2019-05-01 08:48

Great and fun game! I could see myself playing this just for the fun of it! Only minor complaint would be the long death screen, which made it harder to just jump right back in.

fahim-faysal 2019-05-01 08:55

The art and BGM is fabulous. It reminds me of darkest dungeon. The musics is a very good fit for the game. I like how it slowly fades when you die. The gameplay is simple and satisfying. I do think that the rng is a bit unbalanced. You can encounter mobs that do too much damage very early.

halfmule 2019-05-01 11:46

My favorite entry so far. Great mood, graphics, music and gameplay.

I could not progress further than level 16.

However, it is normal that very quickly you must not ever get hit or you pretty much lost?

fusionnist 2019-05-01 11:48

Awesome! I love the graphics, audio, and gameplay - though I'm really bad at pressing those keys, which makes my runs rather short. If it had been just WASD input, I might have stood a chance, but those two extra buttons mess with me. It also somewhat forces me to use my left hand, since the right is gonna be on the mouse from stage to stage. That's just nitpick though. Cheers!

jofersgames 2019-05-01 13:33

wonderful :)

hadesfury 2019-05-01 14:46

2019-05-01 16_43_02-Blood and goods.png

Great game, a lot of well choosen inspiration :)

I did play multiple time :)

The mood is also awesome, thank to the music and the gorgeous graphism

tapehead 2019-05-01 16:14

This is a hard but also cool game. It looks and sound great, the mood is also great! It would be cool if the difficulty would build up a a bit slowly ^^

hugonun 2019-05-01 16:57

Managed to get to room 15, I was very unlucky with all the blood fountains.

Something I don't like is the time I have to wait for the Game Over screen to disappear. It's like telling me that I'm bad at typing games and wants me to feel bad about it as long as possible :(

nayaki-anandan 2019-05-01 18:47

This game was pretty cool! I loveeeee the audio and the graphics. I may have chosen a different key combination just as wasd doesn't really come naturally to a key-typing game for me. Other than that very impressive.

nandon 2019-05-01 19:17

Very cool concept, but so damn hard!

tricky-fat-cat 2019-05-01 21:10

Very good and well polished game. Well done!

omercanbalandi 2019-05-01 21:15

5/5 in all categories from me.Awesome !

afroant 2019-05-02 04:47

If I could give the graphics more than 5 stars, I would. Everything else was amazing as well. I want to play the full version of this game! Thanks for sharing on the stream!

pyrian 2019-05-02 06:35

A lot to like here, good concept, well put together, good sounds. But, c'mon. It's too difficult to be any fun. If it started off easy and got harder as you played it'd be really cool. As it is, I could never actually advance, and the only items I could afford to buy didn't even do anything. In addition, you should probably make the death screen skippable (I sure saw that a lot and it got annoying how long it is) and you should definitely leave some kind of message up telling you how much you lost and gained in each fight.

deathbysnail 2019-05-02 12:27

Great use of theme, great graphics, audio's cool, and I love your combat mechanics!

selewi 2019-05-02 12:29

@pyrian Ok, good feedback there we appreciate it a lot! We know the game is kinda hard at the moment, we didn't have time to make audio, art, mechanics, polish and also balance (Even though I've spent around 4 hours on it), but is not that easy so, I'm sorry about this one. The items you buy actually shows your stats changes in the bottom left corner, weapons usually makes you deal more damage each time you press a key, defense reduces the incoming damage from the enemies, if you have a defense of 3 and the enemy deals 8 damage, then you only take 5. About the death screen and the combat results yep, could be a good addition to the game... We had many stuff planned, but time tho

kaiomoi 2019-05-02 14:05

Very good and polished game. Well done!

d954mas 2019-05-02 15:41

Very cool game. Art is awesome

mykola 2019-05-02 16:54

Awesome game in all senses, the best I've played here so far. Graphics is great, sound is amazing, gameplay is absorbing, the UX (manuals, explanations, details, game flow) is magnificent. It all combines into a breathtaking atmosphere at the level of Darkest Dungeon. Reached room 60-something trying to find some shortcomings (which weren't easy to find), so here they go: 1. Played the whole game without sacrificing even once on encounter. Not sure if it's just me or the balance is a bit off, but I would usually gain more than sacrifice. 2. Once I get a build with ~15 armor and ~4 damage, I only get weaker stuff in shops, which is a bit annoying. Technically, the build seems more than enough to cope with encounters, but the willing to grow is not satisfied. 3. To be honest, I did sacrifice once on the 60-something-th room. I had ~150 hp and the sacrifice was up to 10, but I was left with ~50 hp afterwards, which was pretty disappointing. No cheats or special action combinations were used during the game, so not even sure how to reproduce it. 4. I really played the whole time with excitement and didn't get bored for a second, but I would still appreciate some kind of goal or winning point. Or maybe the game getting so challenging that you have to lose and get some score. But maybe I just haven't gotten to that point.

Well, those are some minor things I could notice, but all in all, it's a great game. Really well done, enjoyed every second of it, thank you guys!

wildcard 2019-05-02 20:20

I really like the tone of your game! The music adds a lot and the mechanics fit the theme very well! It would be interesting to see how you expand on this(if you choose to)!

selewi 2019-05-02 20:22

@wildcard We will expand this game! We've even made a [Discord server](https://discord.gg/tpPyMcr) where anyone can propose its own ideas!

black-flag 2019-05-02 20:22

Love the art, and the combat encounters are great! Overall, a really good game!

grllle 2019-05-02 20:35

So many ideas welded together and the result is super satisfying. Maybe the game i played the most until now. Quite addictive, at least for me!

deviant 2019-05-02 20:44

Very fun game, having to wait for the song to finish before being able to restart put losing into a lull, and not knowing how much HP you were getting from a combat made it hard to wager if the combat was worth pursuing or if you should just pay the toll and take your chances with the next room. Made it up to room 14.

tony-li 2019-05-02 20:50

Nicely polished game! The gameplay is solid, and the graphics and sound are very well done.

sadsmile 2019-05-02 20:54

5/5 game. My personal winner.

julllan 2019-05-02 21:52

I spend way more time with this then with many "full" games. Would rate 6/5, where did my time go. Made it till room 74 :D

captainpilot 2019-05-02 23:30

I really liked this one. The restart time is way too long when I wanted to jump into the next run

rob-avery 2019-05-03 01:33

Wow! Great from every angle. The restart screen takes a while to load, but other than that, just great! I love how you merged dungeon crawler and somehow button mashing in a way. Made it really fun.

calzep 2019-05-03 05:27

Really loved the use of the keys for combat. That made for a reallly interesting and refreshing experience. I could imagine drowning good time into this game if it was more fleshed out, and if it could be ported to mobile somehow.

hans1203 2019-05-03 08:09

The combat machanic was really smart and well polished. Although I think maybe the cost of combat is a bit too high, or maybe I am just not very good at this game .Anyway ,it might be my favourite game in this Jam.

giezi 2019-05-03 11:27

Nice graphics and mood.

jsmars 2019-05-03 13:10

Very nice artstyle and concept, nice work!

hugzfnr 2019-05-03 13:18

Beautiful game ! The combat feels really nice so coming into 3 merchant rooms in a row with a too low health, not being able to buy anything feels bad, and then I just wanna fight everything I see. Maybe the blood payments could use more diversity than just skipping ennemies ? Keyboard remapping looks quite important also for this gameplay. Gj anyway !

gerardb 2019-05-03 13:20

The game is hard. But very enjoyable and beautiful. Congrats!

dock-frankenstein 2019-05-03 13:31

It's really well balanced. Well done!

rayriver 2019-05-03 13:32

Really solid game, I love it. Nice work!

enver-arco 2019-05-03 13:47

Hard game but very well made and probably the game I've spent the longest time playing so far. Art and UI is great, my only complaint is that I don't feel mashing W,A,S,D,E quickly is an engaging combat mechanic

selewi 2019-05-03 14:21

@enver-arco We will add different combat mechanics for different character and classes! ... If you have any suggestion feel free to shot it in our [Discord](https://discord.gg/tpPyMcr), we will appreciate it a lot!

zubspace 2019-05-03 15:09

Wow, beautifully made! Looks really polished!

I love the scene transitions and the fadeout of the music when you die is awesome. I have the problem that the music somehow goes out of sync when switching tabs. But that's no big deal.

The only real complaint I have, is that it is too hard for my taste, even for a roguelike. But well, maybe I'm just not good enough yet. Going to practice a bit more...

I'd also add some kind of timer while fighting and a scoring system to give the player a bit of feedback. But that's all.

Otherwise very nice. Good Work!

selewi 2019-05-03 15:18

Thank you a lot for your feedback @zubspace ! We appreciate it a lot. As you stated, the difficulty is clearly a problem in this game and we're currently working on new updates and features for the game, so, consider joining our [Discord channel](https://discord.gg/tpPyMcr) to help us and send some suggestions <3

evgeniya-zapolnova 2019-05-03 15:48

I like art and idea. There are some problems with sound. It slowed down and than went faster. And a rat is amazing :)

selewi 2019-05-03 15:53

Hello @evgeniya-zapolnova we're sorry you've been experiencing these sound problems :( ... We know there are some issues with the browser version of the game but you can dowload it for desktop, audio works way better there. Have a good day!

pixelsplash 2019-05-03 16:31

Amazing game, I loved the polished it was and the original idea, strong entry!!!

chefboircheese 2019-05-03 18:03

The art style and overall feel of the game is incredible, especially for only 3 days worth of work. Great job!

nyri0 2019-05-03 21:30

Really good game, beautiful graphics, nice music and mood, fits perfectly in the theme.

caeonosphere 2019-05-04 00:10

Reached 15, at which point I got one-shot for 18 HP by a brute spider. Cool concept and graphics, if a little repetitive.

flukeshot 2019-05-04 05:11

Such a high level of polish for an LD game, superb. Too bad I am terrible at speed typing. So great you got your friends to do the violin, really made the mood/audio that next level for me.

cem-adiloglu 2019-05-04 07:14

nice style

chili-turtle 2019-05-04 09:41

great game, sadly the balance is super off. I mean a rat with 20hp and 3att wich hits you at least once or skipping for 2hp. The furthest I come was just skip nearly all the fights

iarwain 2019-05-04 09:43

Very impressive entry, with a tremendous amount of polish for a gamejam entry, congrats, I loved it! One minor gripe for me though: the game over screen is quite long, I wish I could restart faster. :)

finn-truman 2019-05-04 09:51

It's truly gorgeous and well put together, but I ultimately got fed up because the random enemy generation is very unfair. It's not uncommon for the first enemy to be a dinky rat that for some reason deals six damage, and you can find enemies with 20-something stupid health before you've seen your first shop. It's almost as if the enemies use the same RNG stat rules throughout the whole game with no scaling.

I also don't like how if you miss a key, you take damage. The very nature of this mechanic encourages fast key pressing and key misses are bound to happen. And missing a key already carries the punishment of not dealing damage (since every damage point is essential), and letting the enemy get that little bit closer to dealing damage to you anyway.

Despite that, I played it through a few times because I enjoyed it, but ultimately turned if off because of these issues.

bentebent 2019-05-04 10:50

This is my favourite of LD44 by far, it looks fantastic, is juicy and has a great mood. I didn't mind the balance but it could use some tweaking.

weine 2019-05-04 10:50

Very stylish and innovative gameplay. Good mood, but also very hard.

lazertrax 2019-05-04 10:58

Great Game! reminds me alot of Darkest Dungeon because of the art style but the game play is unique and really interesting! It's a very innovative thee interpretation that I could easily keep playing for hours. Awesome work on this one

spaceface14dev 2019-05-04 15:58

Sweet game, with amazing art, thematic music, and fun gameplay!

ruben01 2019-05-04 17:30

Really good game, art looks beautifull, the theme is implemented in a great way, loved it all around

geist-191 2019-05-04 18:42

I really enjoyed this game! It reminded me of a rhythm games yet it was something completely new and the experience was great! The art is perfect and very unique! I had a lot of fun!

nippaaah 2019-05-04 18:43

game looks awesome! I'm personally too bad at it to get further than room 4, but it looks great, feels great and makes you wanna try over and over again. great job!!!

selewi 2019-05-04 19:13

No problem @nippaaah ! We're aware that the game is difficult for some people so we're going to introduce new easier classes for this public. Stay on to the news ! (we have a discord community for this)

johnnydalvi 2019-05-04 19:34

my first 5/5 to all categories, it's an amazing game, congrats! the only thing that I missed a bit was a Restart button and some more balance, but it's a Jam entry, so that's fine.

selewi 2019-05-04 19:46

Thank you so much @johnnydalvi ! we really appreciate your time for playing and rating !

cocapasteque 2019-05-04 20:05

Super game, loved it. Loved the Darkest Dungeon vibes also. It is also super hard for me haha but still. I think it may benefits also from a way to restart a game faster :) Really really great !

selewi 2019-05-04 20:25

@cocapasteque Thank you so much for your feedback! we're aware of some of these inconvinients, so we will keep working to make this game better :)

mika-la-grand 2019-05-04 21:00

Awesome art and great music. The audio was a bit buggy at times in the webplayer, but perhaps that's not the case in the standalone builds. The enemy stats seem to be random, which is great for replayability. The restarts could be a bit faster though. Perhaps also do more balancing on the enemy stats, because I had a lot of very high stat enemies right from the beginning. Perhaps also tie them in with the upgrades that the player has.

selewi 2019-05-04 21:04

@mika-la-grand Thank you so much for your feedback! We've setted a [Discord](https://discord.gg/tpPyMcr) community because we will keep updating the game with new content and balancing as you stated! Feel free to join and help us too :)

bakenshake 2019-05-04 22:00

Great entry! Excited to see the development continue. As others have said, I do get Darkest Dungeon vibes, but it's unique in the key sequences. Nice take on that. Graphics are solid. Would have liked a tooltip hover to know what items did for me as well as maybe a minimap of the dungeon? Or is just endless?

selewi 2019-05-04 22:25

Hey @bakenshake thank you for the words! Take a look at your stats when you hover shop items, you can see what they do. The “map” of the dungeon cam be seem in the top center of the screen, you can anticipate a max of 2 rooms tho

bakenshake 2019-05-04 22:32

@selewi Oh my bad!! I didn't realize that. Thanks for clarifying. Maybe I went too fast and was distracted by the graphics. :)

icedmetal57 2019-05-05 00:09

Loving this game's style. It's got a great aesthetic and sound design. Had a few moments of overlapping audio, but otherwise it was solid. Reminded me of Darkest Dungeon for sure.

plexsoup 2019-05-05 00:43

Great game. Amazing artwork and audio. I just wish it was actual words instead of qweasd. I normally type quickly, but when posed with random strings of letters I blanked out. I imagine I'll get the hang of it after a couple of runs through.

I played through again. Helped to think of words that started with that letter. Now I wish the button options responded to keyclicks, so I could progress without switching to mouse.

peachtreeoath 2019-05-05 01:24

Incredibly polished game, I got around level 35 before stopping because nothing could really hurt me, though I do understand the enemy #s were rising and were eventually going to consume me anyways. I can't believe you guys only have a few jams under your belt, you seem to be very seasoned as this is a hell of a game!

selewi 2019-05-05 01:52

@peachtreeoath thanl you for the kind words! This was our first jam as a team, never worked before together but everyone was really compromised so it furned out really well :)

alienplay 2019-05-05 05:58

It's a very interesting and addictive game. I like the graphics, the music and the atmosphere in general. It's was very frustrating, though, to wait 5 seconds when replaying the game. It felt a but too punishing. Other than that, I really liked the game! Also, game's page looks beautiful! :) I like when someone leaves time for designing that as well.

franklins-ghost 2019-05-05 07:51

The art in this is so good, really made it a pleasure to play. The gameplay worked really well and kept me going back trying to get further. Music also helped set the mood.

local-minimum 2019-05-05 08:31

I got to room 3, that was as far as I could manage. Maybe there could be some difficulty settings like either giving you more blood to start or if the early rooms you encounter enemies that require less variation on keys to press. I'd also really would have liked, and probably would have tried more times, if I didn't have to use my mouse. The menus should have (Q) (W) (E) hotkeys and in particular the ones inside the game like 'Next Room' and 'Pay or Fight'. Since I only have a qwerty keyboard, I don't know if the game properly detects and allows for other layouts too. I'd also really would have liked to be able to press some button to get out of 'You Died' thing since if you only get to room 1, 2, 3 then it happens too often and takes too much of the time.

The graphics was really well made, everything extremely polished and well put together. Music fit the mood well. So I enjoyed it even if I barely got to see any of it. I liked that I could kill myself in the shop too!

hauo 2019-05-05 09:05

Lovely thematic game. The style is great, and the mechanic is in the forefront of the game, with everything having a cost you really need to think whats worth to pay life for. The difficulty might need some tweaking, but honestly, can works well as it is, every Rogue-like have runs that just wont work based on luck. Also really enjoyed the combat system, a rather elegant solution to add a more "active" combat for static encounters! Great work, one of my favorite games so far.

oillen 2019-05-05 14:17

The game is clearly fun, the guitarheroish combatsystem for example is cool, but the balance or experience suffers from it's randiffcultness of enemies and shops. It is strong at graphics and audio, has a good mood and to me it is a perfekt take on the theme.

quadape 2019-05-05 23:43

Very cool! I wish it was a little less random, sometimes there are shops at times, where I would be able to afford anything. But otherwise it is really great, art is outstanding, music and sounds are great, gameplay is fun and addicting. Good work!

ivan-garcia-filho 2019-05-06 01:31

Awesome art, i love that bloccking/colorring style, remembers me of the darkest dungeon and hellboy. The music gets repetitive and would be nice if you could randomly chose the next loop and add also some ambience to every room, like dripping water, some rats, bats, and echoes to enhance the sensation of emptiness and loneliness.

franvadillo 2019-05-06 09:45

One of the winners of the jam probably, really really good. I played one game and another and another, and when I realized I were in the room 75. The visuals, music and gamefeel are really good. It is well balanced to be a jam game. The main problem I found, probably because I played a lot, is that at certain point it gets repetitive, like it needs some variety of enviroments and enemies. I understand it is because you only had 3 days buuuut I had to tell you. Really good game with Darkest Dungeon vibes, simple input, nice mood and good gameplay. Good luck and good job.

selewi 2019-05-06 11:12

Thank you for your feedback @franvadillo ... We're aware of the repetitive issue and we're currently working on new content for the game... More classes, room types, enemies, bosses, items, and even more! Feel free to join us in our [Discord community](https://discord.gg/tpPyMcr) server to help us !

krapht 2019-05-06 11:37

the you are dead screen lasts way to long. Made it annoying to play more then once. Overall amazing game. Thank you.

wojciech 2019-05-06 11:56

Enjoyable aesthetic, good idea, quite some content. I'd say it would've been better if you could do all the controls with keyboard instead of some with the mouse, since they are just button choices. Also a use of the whole keyboard for the fight would've been more interesting since you could use both hands then. Overall very well put together, congrats.

garys 2019-05-06 12:50

Lovely artwork and I liked the sound... I liked the gameplay concept too, but I have to say I found it very difficult. Main thing I'd change is the amount of time the game over scene takes! When you're dying all the time, as I was, it's very frustrating to have to wait so long before you can hit restart.

jam373 2019-05-06 20:10

Really great work! Super fun even though I'm terrible at typing games, the great mood set by the art, sound and the world kept me playing! Is there an end, like a boss or something? or does it go on infinitely?

feips 2019-05-06 21:09

Amazing work, I think this game as well @secretpocketcat 's entry will get me into typing games.

Thank you!

selewi 2019-05-06 22:53

Hey @jam373 Thank you for playing! :) At the moment the game doesn't have an end, but we plan to keep working on this and add a final boss, as well as classes and rewards for beating the game, to keep replayability! ... Join our **[Discord community](https://discord.gg/tpPyMcr)** if you want to stay tuned!

conroy 2019-05-07 03:01

Very good job here, you accomplished one of the hardest parts of a game....making it fun and addicting! The art style was great! and the gameplay was very smooth.

ryunos 2019-05-07 07:34

I have some problems with the music; it sounds laggy but it's a great game anyway! Will play again :)

lexyvil 2019-05-07 08:19

Fun game! And quite hard, too. The only improvement that would have made me enjoy it more would be to make the fade-in and fade-out of the gameover screen faster. With the amount of times I die, I would want to get back into the game straight away rather than having to wait~

henanboy 2019-05-07 08:39

Wow! The art, the sound, the game play, everything is extremely well done and polished. Amazing job!

dimesto52 2019-05-07 10:35

the graphics and sound of the game is great but it's difficult to block my fourth room which is a little frustrating

selewi 2019-05-07 10:55

Hey @ryunos ! We're aware of this issue happenning to some people, so we encourage you to download the desktop version which works properly :) Thank you for playing the game !

selewi 2019-05-07 10:56

Thank you SO much @conroy those are encouraging words :D

selewi 2019-05-07 10:56

No worries @dimesto52 , we're taking care of players that feel that the game is quite difficult by introducing different classes with many gameplays, stay updated :D

nnnikki 2019-05-07 18:37

Nice little dungeon crawler! I loved the artstyle and atmosphere. The fighting system is also quite unique. I liked it.

ithildin 2019-05-08 00:01

I remember looking at some screencaps checking the feed and thinking "Those graphics look amazing, I need to try this!". And after 27 levels I can only say...wow!!

Great take on the theme, impressive graphics (the Darkest Dungeon comparison is inevitable, but it was also one of the reasons that brought me here) and music, and the whole package in general feels more solid than some commercial releases. I also enjoyed the mechanics, even if eventually battles became a bit repetitive. This is understandable given the time constraint, and even more so considering the amount and quality of content.

A couple of questions / suggestions: * Having to switch back and forth between keyboard to mouse breaks the flow a bit. Are there hoykeys to move to the next level after beating it, or for the choices? If not, it would be a nice addition. * Is the game objective to survive as many waves as possible or is there an end? In the second case it would be nice to have a progress indication.

I hope you keep expanding it (just saw on Itch.io the concepts for the new characters ), because it has a lot of potential. Brilliant job!

selewi 2019-05-08 00:30

Hey @ithildin thank you for playing, and of course, for taking the time of leaving feedback! The game is intended to play like a first person shooter right now, like... Use your left hand on QWEASD and your right hand on mouse, we have plans to add fully support for keyboard (and even controllers) at some point but it's not our main priority right now. About the objective yes, currently the main objective is surviving, as the rooms become slowly harder.

We're working really hard into bringing new content and we would appreciate a lot if you come with us and help us on our [Discord server](https://discord.gg/tpPyMcr)! <3

Have a nice day!

shess 2019-05-08 02:28

I'll be completely honest with you, the graphics is so breathtaking I might have added a few stars here and there just by association. But the core gameplay loop was addictive and polished, too! Everything feels so organically... right. Right where it should be. One of the games I'd love to add to my personal collection, really.

rocketraccoons 2019-05-08 06:28

Very nice game! Reminds me of 'Darkest Dungeon' and i love this type of games. Makes a lot of fun. Can't wait to see your further progress with the new characters. Great work!

aurel 2019-05-08 06:58

Pretty fun, but once I got to level 71 I stopped as the game stopped increasing in item quality.

Capture.PNG

All in all, it was really fun, and I really enjoyed it. It felt polished and clean, but could have used some more balancing in the RNG. Getting to a level 60 shop and getting all rags and low level gear...

ddrkirbyisq 2019-05-08 09:00

Very nice! Stopped after lvl 100 when it was clear that I wasn't going to be dying anytime soon... keyboard was interesting as I decided to use colemak instead of dealing with my somewhat rusty qwerty skills, which ended up splitting the inputs up over two hands. Nice clean UI design and I really appreciate the visual polish, with the screen shake and subtle UI animations and all. Blood fountains were a bit confusing at first glance (but maybe that is the intent?), I'm not sure the 4-leaf-clover translates super intuitively. Maybe if there was a % symbol... It was never worth it to pay the life to skip monsters, even in the late game, as in the end that is always going to be a losing strategy if you rely on it consistently. I think to address that there needed to be a little more variation in enemy strength. There was some, but not enough so that the toughest enemies were worth avoiding.

Great job overall!

krammetje 2019-05-08 09:35

Interesting typing game. I really enjoyed it.

pl4typus 2019-05-08 09:55

Awesome game. BUT !... I definitely think it has to be more finely pitched.

Several things that could be consider to polish it a bit more, most of them are quality of life features:

- while we mouse-over an icon, some little window could show up to remind us what it is for - on the web version, the game stops when we change window, that is unfortunate especially considering that the game over screen is super long to pass (it was actually faster to reload your page ...) - if you consider pursuing th development of this (what I think you should, it's definitely a good game), consider making the QTE not AQZSED based but maybe, with a controler, ABXY based - about that, maybe you could have made the first 10 levels only 4 buttons QTEs (maybe AQZS) and the rest of the game 6 buttons QTEs ... To make us accustomed to the system ...

Also, on the difficulty and the balance: - I think that the system is not quite well balanced, but I may be wrong. I feel like the first encounters are **super** decisive for the rest of the game and that the first merchand also. About him, sometimes he can offer you (the first merchand), stuff at like 14 or 15 HP to trade, wtf? I had like 6...

screen blood .jpg

Here, for instance: WTF ?! This shit spider deals fucking one-shots per second !

Most of the time, it was more interesting for me to trade my blood instead of fighting... That's good in the few first rooms because it make an atmosphere but man ...

This is what I think after playing it a bit: you challenge us to kill the ennemy before it can attacks us because most of the time he deals more damage than he asks for blood. You should make this maybe a seoncd-part of the game feature, after a checkpoint maybe, and let the first few rooms of the game be: if you can kill the ennemy within two of its attacks, it's still interesting to fight.

Or I am just super bad :sob: Nah, definitely, sorry, I have tried many times and still, meeting a two shots spider in the first room that I need to kill within less than 5 seconds is not fun at all, only frustrating. And I'm serious calling it not fun: I don't find nothing enjoyable in keyboard-based QTEs. Especially if the letters are random. What **could** be cool, on the other side, would be that we need to type a certain word to kill the monsters. May it be curses or power words are we would have been a wizard or smtg. Then the QTEs would be fun ...

On the other side, HUGE musical track that evolves quite like it should be. And super nice art. And UI also. Keep those up.

fenderbate 2019-05-08 12:22

A very well made game! It's solid overall, you should release it as a complete game!

selewi 2019-05-08 12:30

Thank you @fenderbate . We will release this as a full game! we're currently working on it and you can see the progress in our [Discord server](https://discord.gg/tpPyMcr) feel free to join us!

webox 2019-05-08 18:29

Que bueno ver compatriotas acá! Hermoso juego, me encantó el arte, muy divertido. Una belleza! Genial laburo!

zoneoutapps 2019-05-08 21:44

Rockin!!! Perfectly balanced toughness and gamble! :D I loved thinking I could beat the Imp...didn't...but made me want to try again! People want games that are SO easy...I'll never understand that. Good job!

selewi 2019-05-08 22:56

@webox vamosss!

ryunos 2019-05-09 08:29

@selewi Well I would have loved to but I'm playing on a mac sooo... It's a bit difficult.

cakemonitor 2019-05-09 08:41

Great looking game! But that game over screen is s...o... ... s...l...o...w... it's literally quicker to quit and reload the game!! The balance seems off (or maybe I'm just really bad at it) andthe best strategy seemed to be never fight, never purchase, and hope for good RNG at fountains.

x-budsterized-x 2019-05-10 18:08

well, this one is by far the best game I have played during LD44. I don't really have anything else to add on top of other comments, other than give you another rating. Great one! :)

a-coltzz 2019-05-10 20:40

This game is straight up 5/5 I really loved everything from gameplay to story to music, amazing job guys !!!

mashupgames 2019-05-10 20:55

Definitely my favourite game of this jam!

adam-clayden 2019-05-10 20:58

Nice concept. The audio was a bit choppy on my laptop (Google Chrome) but it was nice audio nonetheless. Gameplay feels nice and the art style is cool

selewi 2019-05-10 21:09

@adam-clayden the desktop version shouldn’t have this issue! ;)

joror 2019-05-11 14:25

Great art and interesting gameplay! Would have loved to actually see the moves the enemies and I do, but I am super-focused on the letterstream. A pause/cadence in there to actually see and enjoy that would be nice. :) Excellent work!

ethan-kennerly 2019-05-12 01:28

When I realized I could type faster to attack faster, I felt skillful. If you continue to develop this, in Microsoft Edge browser, I didn't see a mouse cursor.

secretpocketcat 2019-05-12 13:26

Haya, fellow typing game devs

I really like this and I'm getting a strong Darkest Dungeon vibe. The visuals are great as is the music and the coregamplay loop is really satisfying nad more-ish.

- The first 2 encounters could pick from a pool of easier enemies or be fixed entirely (yay spiders) and the harder encounters should probably reward the player with more blood in return. - A lot of the UI could be bound to keys (purchase with 1-3, next with space, Fight with F etc.) - having to use the mouse for half of the game felt a bit akward, but maybe that's just me. - The transitions could be a lot faster, especially the death screen is just rubbing the player's failure in their faces. (This's actually what stopped me from playing more of the game).

I've encountered the Edge-related issue described by @ethan-kennerly when working on my previous LD entry. Putting [this](https://stackoverflow.com/a/44819822/6021966) in an entry point should deal with that problem.

selewi 2019-05-12 16:01

Thank you for addressing this issue @ethan-kennerly ! We will keep developing the game but we won't support browser anymore since we have a lot of problems in that platform, specially with audio.

selewi 2019-05-12 16:02

Hey @secretpocketcat Thank you so much for your words, and even more for taking the effort to help us with the development of the game! We appreciate it a lot. The game will be updated soon with more balance, content, control schemes, classes, and even more! So stay tuned ;)

aim 2019-05-12 19:06

I like your battle mechanic. It's really fresh.

My one piece of feedback is the game over screen lasts too long and there's no way to fast skip it.

d5r 2019-05-13 07:23

Lovely game! Everything from art, sound, aesthetics to even the screen shake makes playing the game feel really good! The beginning felt a bit too tight money wise since each enemy encounter didn't feel like it gave enough coins for defeating the enemy (either that or I just really suck) so maybe FTL-style events that give out some blood randomly might help players become better equipped as they progress. Looking forward to more updates to the game!

selewi 2019-05-13 11:22

Hey @d5r thank you for your feedback! Indeed, we need those "random events" at the moment we count with blood fountains but I agree that is not enough Feel free to join to our Discord community to stay updated! :)

Darkest Dungeon: Pocket Edition

2019-12-03 16:27

this is a biiiiiit late, but the discord invite isn't working anymore, is that still even a thing?
