Wow, the style is really annoying, but it fits the topic, well done!

bakenshake 2019-04-30 02:37

The graphics are cool! The intro was a little long and waiting for text to print is never fun. Very unique style, though. Nice take on the theme too.

velvetlobster 2019-04-30 04:21

This art is amazing, with a very own style. sometimes text seems too slow

calzep 2019-04-30 05:25

wish there was a webgl or linux build

gorrion 2019-04-30 05:40

A bit lenghty intro, some bugs here and there. Sometimes you spawned right into an asteroid (and die). Other than that it's quite alright

estuvomuybien 2019-04-30 05:52

Nice addition to good ol' Asteroids. Not that difficult, plenty of particles. Can see a potential plot, would like to see it fully played out.

kp-cftsz 2019-04-30 07:12

It's got character

arcus 2019-04-30 07:54

Creepy graphics! A bit more colour would be nice, to make things more eye catching :)

lagrume-masque 2019-04-30 22:34

I could not play as the game stayed stuck at "your looking to buy?", wherever I clicked the same sentence was prompted. I did rate your art that I found sppoky but cool. I also like the intro but sometimes the texts were too long and I coulnd not read them until the end.

Hey all! Thank you for your constructive criticism and feedback. This is the first time we've ever done anything like this, so hearing from so many people is great and it really does help us out! It seems unanimous that the intro text is too long/not skipable; we totally agree, and since we're going to keep working on this after the jam, we'll definitely add in skippableness once scoring as over (though it's minor, I feel like adding the feature before play+rate is done with might influence scoring and go beyond LD rules). We have, however, made the following changes that should still be in complience with the jam: @lagrume-masque , we've gone in and made it so you cannot get stuck in the store text (thanks for catching this bug! :^) ; @calzep , the executable should run in linux as well as mac and windows since its a Unity build, though, we see that we didn't initially mark it as such on itch.io. This is changed now and we encourage you to give the game a shot if you're still interested!

Again, thank you all for your feedback! It's all very encouraging and helpful! :^)

I had to go back and figure out what the shoot button was after losing the first playthrough to not knowing controls. After that it was easy because all I did was hold down shoot and spin in place. Some ideas:

1. Give me some destinations to move to(e.g. collectables), and then spawn new waves on a timer so that I get intercepted. 2. Give the enemies some movement patterns other than "berserker run at me".

The story has plenty of writing(good effort) but the writing feels flat(effort wasted), because each scene plays linearly and is focused on concrete justifications(business language) and not a feeling of anticipation for "what will happen after that, and why"(storytelling), like something that will be revealed and how additional themes in the work might interact with the main "your life is currency" one. When the twist comes, it's surprising but doesn't communicate a lot since we never build much of an investment in the characters or world.

cubicode 2019-05-01 06:09

As already mentioned, the intro is quite long, and I had some troubles to read some texts before they changed.

Also, I think it would be great to have a restart button. (Or did I miss it?)

Other than that I really like your game.

dorblin7z7 2019-05-01 06:13

Definitely oozing charm. It was a little hard to control, but was fun once I got the hang of it.

calzep 2019-05-01 06:14

@rumsquawks extracted it, dont see a linux executable. Only windows.

nebrazif 2019-05-04 14:46

It's a good game !

The link on this page mentions all platforms but itch.io only has one zip file, which only contains Windows executables (no OSX or Linux).

rumsquawks 2019-05-11 23:16

Hey all! Thanks again for the additional feedback. To those who believed my unintentional L I E S and went to our itch.io looking for a Linux build only to find Windows executables, so sorry! I completely misunderstood how Unity's packaging system for Mac/Windows/Linux builds works. For those individuals, there should now be a Linux build up on our itch.io if I did everything correctly. If not, so sorry yet again! None of our team has a Linux nor do we actively use Linux, but we'll work on getting a build our to you all if we muff things up again! It also should be noted that this Linux build up on itch.io is alongside a new Windows build, which includes skippable text and some sounds, features which were not present in the original LD build. We've left our original submission up on itch.io, so if you intend to play and rate, please refer to that windows build, or play the Linux build and neglect the changes we've made. Sorry that this approach is a little sloppy, but I felt like giving a new Linux build with changes and additions was better than giving no build at all. Again, thank you all for the feedback! Best wishes for this final week of play and rate!

pyrian 2019-05-12 07:19

Played the LD version and kind of regret it, lol. Yeah the unskippable intro is way too long, but you know that already. ;) The wave start is just weird, all this stuff coming at you and little you can do about it. The aliens in-game look terrible. I like the store art. Took me a bit to figure out how to operate the store, I tried clicking on things and that just buys/sells whatever's selected, or the first item if nothing's selected yet. On the second wave I started off "zonked" - I still had full health but I was gone?

webox 2019-05-12 22:52

For some reason my ship spinned out of control, like it's super sensitive. Your art style is great! the game needs a bit of polishing but that's fairly common for a jam! Overall a fresh approach to the asteroids formula, great job!
