LD39 — Running out of Power

Geralt's secret powersource by Sublustris 2017-08-01T22:25:25Z

Awesome! Jumping is a bit cumbersome and had me get stuck on the edge of the platforms a few times. Combat is very hard, but after I had a rhythm going (does the snail pace follow the beat? if not, could be interesting to tweak it), I was enjoying it. Go team Triss.

Surge - LD39 by IcyLava 2017-08-20T21:11:45Z

MacOS here, I get the same crash @gagapete does. I managed to play the game on Windows though. The game got brutally hard almost immediately and I got frustrated countless times trying to hit the ball but getting a ball to the face instead (kind of like when I tried to playing volleyball in high school). However, I got sucked in and managed to finish the game. Overall it was an enjoyable experience, but could use a bit smoother difficulty curve. One more thing - since you're just a square, you can't tell which way you're facing and thus which way you're punching.

Away Team by Joe Miller 2017-07-31T23:31:19Z

Quite deep and well explained stats system. The music creates a nice mood and lets you drown into the experience. UI ergonocmics could maybe use some improvement, e.g. present more information graphically instead of just text.

Robit Needs Love by domrein 2017-08-02T00:03:51Z

Nice work. The robot was cute and I wanted to help my terminal bro. Baddies can reach you on the lowest level before you can extend your head and while this is countered by your lazors long range, I think it breaks the flow as you get stuck too much.

Fading Points by SMILEY_4_ 2017-08-20T09:22:16Z

I really like the minimal aesthetic. Puzzles were generally fun. However, as others were saying, the "wall" dots seem to disappear at random (I don't think it has been explained anywhere) making it hard or impossible to strategize. At least making this predictable and for example highlighting the next dot to disappear would make the game feel more fair.

I ran the game on macOS and it works fine, although I think it didn't register my mouse clicks at first (can't reproduce).

Wrong Slumber by ick 2017-08-20T10:16:29Z

I loved the aesthetic, ghosts were super cute! I liked the short rapid fire mechanic as it pushes you into combat, creating a nice positive feedback loop (reminds me of the new Doom even). As others mentioned, enemy spawning is a bit broken and I died a few times because I couldn't find the last ghost.

Unlimited Power by Jojoprog 2017-08-01T21:20:08Z

The coop idea was very cool and with some polish this can be an amazing game. Played with girlfriend. There is no audio so we made sounds with our mouths ;)

Couldn't find the source code

Spaceship Rescue by cybersoftuk 2017-08-01T20:52:22Z

Pretty cool game to chill out to, especially the music was nice. Not sure if I understood the rules but I got to 68k points. The double spaceship thing was quite original.

Jam Simulator by vizitas 2017-08-01T23:05:57Z

The deadline was closing in and I got anxious that I'm spending time walking around the home making coffee instead of coding. I ran back to the computer and got back to it but the code was all tangled up, I thought the fatigue must be playing tricks on me. I hastily finished the game and submitted it with satisfaction. I scored 4615 and got good reviews.

Congratulations on the game. The idea is cool. It really tests your multitasking and touch typing skills. One thing though - I see it that the UI says to press space to stop coding, but I barely noticed it. It is displayed only when you are already concentrated on the letters which makes it almost impossible to notice.

Influencer Tycoon by pst723 2017-08-02T08:15:01Z

@cybersoftuk Correct. The world is a torus of 8x6 areas. For each area a template is chosen at random and then populated according to spot probabilities and design rules (buildings must have the entrance placed next to a walkway).

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Famous Knight by Lucas Ferrantelli 2017-12-07T00:54:49Z

Original and fun take on the theme. Delightfully animated. The only complaint I have is that the combat felt a little bit sluggish.

COINS by oab 2017-12-28T16:56:19Z

The game felt pretty intense with the tiny playing field. Good animations and screen shake make it feel alive. I agree with others that its easy to miss that you're standing on a soon-to-explode "X" field.

Bike taxi service by snarf2000 2017-12-20T00:23:55Z

Fun take on the theme. Cool voxel graphics, nice details like the dirt and tire tracks. The music fits in nicely. Just the right difficulty to get a hang of it after a few tries. Overall cool game!

All-You-Can-Loot Cavern by Deatrathias 2017-12-04T20:53:01Z

Cute idea, although I found the game is much more fun if you just ignore all the gold and collect just the "useful" items. Good enemy and item variety, the music was cool as well. Seconded about the panther.

Avenging Patricia Dare by pst723 2017-12-04T23:23:26Z

@gus-the-shark Yeah, I had more enemy classes in mind. However, this was my first time doing sprite based animations, so drawing and animating them took me a lot of time.

Avenging Patricia Dare by pst723 2017-12-05T20:00:27Z

I changed the attack key to something less offensive. Honestly, I thought most people would have the accessibility thing turned off.

MORE BLOOD by generalvivi 2017-12-04T22:40:02Z

I really liked the aesthetic. Managed to get to 1000 blood after a few tries. I felt the game was well balanced. Wish bullets were a bit more obvious though - at first I was getting my ass shot without even noticing where they come from, until I learned that I should just run around all the time and then I'm safe.

Hydronaut by terakorp 2017-12-04T23:13:52Z

Minimal but very nicely executed. I enjoyed droning out with the chill music.
