Nice entry, liked the attention to detail in the graphics, parallaxed stars, etc. Found it easy enough to kite around the drones to avoid being hit.

leinades 2019-04-30 07:11

I think it would be more fun if the firing mechanic was a bit more engaging, higher rate of fire and more bullets to kill enemies. Movement is a bit slow too.

comicsans 2019-04-30 12:47

Thanks for the feedback, @doug-graham and @leinades! I totally agree about needing to move faster with more bullets. I always say I'm going to save the last day for tweaking gameplay, and then I end up running out of time, despite my best intentions.

LOL, a friend created a speed run video: https://youtu.be/C67TCUgnqYw

It's been too long since my Tyrian days! This is an awesome entry, and other than and vague roughness to the controls, I can't find anything to say. My escortee could have done a little more in their own defense lol, but it was definitely a great time!

Great graphical work and captivating story and gameplay! Amazing work!

jordantanner 2019-05-07 11:29

Love me some space shooters! I found myself wishing for some faster-paced mechanics, but then again maybe I'm just a speed freak. Really cool vibe in this one. How many parallax starfield layers are there? I'm guessing three. Looks really good, well done guys!

lyrcaxis 2019-05-08 09:00

Was pretty fun.. took me 3 tries to understand the mechanics, and another 2 to finish the game.

comicsans 2019-05-13 20:54

@jordantanner Yep, 3 star layers. Thanks for the encouragement!

comicsans 2019-05-13 20:55

@vulpineblazeyt Thanks for the feedback. We've gotten several comments on the clunkiness of the controls, definitely could use some tweaking. Ha, good suggestion about having the merchant help defend itself at least a little. :)

comicsans 2019-05-13 20:56

@copper-aardvark-games @lyrcaxis Thanks for playing! I'm glad it was fun for you.

argon 2019-05-14 05:19

Mood works well, but I think it need to be a little faster and and precise, well, good job anyway !

amerigo-gazaway 2019-05-15 08:25

Love the sound and music, also like how you incorporated the theme in two unique different ways. Great work!

tommyflower 2019-05-16 08:09

Great entry! I loved the colour scheme, music and sound fx. Also found the plot and concept intriguing. Having to defend another ship engages you in a different way. I wish it had been more dynamic, expecially when firing, because it makes you feel a bit uneffective. I really appreciated the arrows that show you where enemy and friends are and the clear energy bar. Overall good solid game.

mika-la-grand 2019-05-18 17:57

Nice graphics, perhaps also add some music. I found it quite difficult to control. I am more used to wasd being the direction of travel, rather than w/s forward/back and a/s to rotate.

comicsans 2019-05-19 19:27

@argon Thanks for the feedback, Argon! We totally agree that the gameplay needs tuning. I hope we eventually get around to that!

comicsans 2019-05-19 19:28

@tommyflower @amerigo-gazaway Thanks for calling out our thematic efforts! We probably prioritized the theme too much over gameplay, but it's nice to have that effort recognized.

comicsans 2019-05-19 19:30

@mika-la-grand I'm sad that you didn't hear any music! @dav did a great job on it. Could you let us know what OS and browser you were using? We'd like to test.

mika-la-grand 2019-05-19 20:09

@comicsans I was using Chrome on Windows 10. I just tried it again, but now there was music. The soundtrack of the start menu is quite nice.
