Smashing thieves feels amazingly crunchy. Very well done game feel. I really like the art, the happy train face made me smile too. I collected my reward... and smashed some protesters along the way :cat:

Great!
Great Audio FX, graphics and above all humourus. It felt a bit long / repetitive in the middle, but the ending was absolutely worth it.
 that was funny ... humor 5 stars  ... rigth amount of challenge and fun but a bit long the train raid
and since you used unity why didnt you make a web build it will give you more players
No music, but the sound effects are on point, this was a really neat concept that I think turned out really well
I really liked this one! The graphics were simple but nice, although it could use a background. It got a little repetitive towards the middle/end, but the ending was super fun!
Squishing bugs feels nice. Can't help but to get a little motion sick from shoveling coal while the train is moving. Enjoyed what I could play though.
Love concept. I enjoyed so much playing this game. It's really relaxing. Graphics and audio are also really cool! Good job!
Original, intuitive, great game overall! Would love to see a post-jam version!
Solid entry pkenny! I see that you had the train idea too haha. I had a good time getting going full speed, though I didn't realize at first that's what I was supposed to do (I thought the coal was limited!). Squashing bugs with a shovel felt satisfying. It had weight being it. And the art is so charming. Having faces on everything is great.
The ending was a pretty good joke too ;D. Good job!.
Something that stands out about this game is that it's playable w just dpad, or basically a 1-finger game if it was on mobile. I've found it hard to create compelling 1-finger experiences myself but you created a unique setup of elements here with such simple controls. I think you're right that the sound design was pretty key to completing the core loop, as just going back and forth between the coal was surprisingly satisfying. The game seems basic at first but you have to juggle speed, defense, and positioning which are all tightly wound together so as a player it's fun to think about all those aspects and what you want to concentrate on. You definitely got me to yell out when I got swarmed by 4 guys while I was chasing my train (and prevented me from getting a perfect score D:). Honestly a pretty original and fun game that inspires other ideas for me. If I were to tackle a train game I would've probably just given my character a gun but I'm thinking I should try more things like this.
What a useless piece of train! With enough determination, you could deliver all gold alone, by yourself! Ok, jokes aside, the game is quite original and what I like the most is that gameplay is very easy to grasp, you don't need a manual to understand the rules. And ofc, the rewards room at the end was satisfactory. In some way i miss some music (or maybe some dynamics, idk) on background bc the ride is very long and after the middle become tedious. Overall, great job.
Nice game, great concept :D
That was pretty fun. Would like more levels. Likes the sfx and the overall style very much. Thanks for that last room with the striking green thingies.
I loved it !
I loved this game. Stream trains have always had a soft spot in my heart! Loved having to add coal. I found that there needed to be a balance with the speed, so that you could get off to defend, but not have the train get to far ahead. For a 48 hour game it's amazing. Congrats.
I love how simple of a concept this was and how well executed it is. I had a lot of fun playing this, great job!
Very well designed!
- How you load the cargo in the beginning, tutorial and story. - Visual fire meter on the train. - The balance between how fast you want to run the train and how far you can reach back when the frogs take the gold and you have to run after them. - When you have multiple gold chunks and smash frogs, the gold fly further away.
I haven’t played enough games as a ghost shoveling coal on a train while protecting gold from frog thieves!
Hahahah now that is a truly perfect game for Ludum Dare! Simplistic yet innovative game core and playing it was super fun. I really like how you designed and balanced the game, player character performing actions automatically if close enough was super intuitive and didn't take anything from the game. Train speed and and bug attacks were well balanced and provided enough challenge for the whole game. And humour is also top notch, for some reason i was grinning through the whole game since the the train started moving and I finally got what kind of game is this going to be. All in all, excellent Ludum Dare game!
The sound effects of this game take it up to 11! Very simple premise, but it made even shoveling coal fun! I really liked how the faster you went also made it harder to (satisfyingly) squish all those gold-stealing bugs! I really connected with wanting to just get to the mint without being bothered by bugs! Bravo!
Great game, love having to chase of the gold stealing bugs and keep the train stoked with coal to keep the speed up.
Great effort for 48h, could defeinitely be worked on post-dare.

Very good game.
10/10 at 4:00!
Nice foley sounds =O
This is great! The sprites are really charming and the attack is surprisingly satisfying. It's simple but very easy to pick up and play. I would have liked more distance signs, since it's a little long without much background movement.
I met expectations in both metrics.
Nice game! Took me a minute to understand what I have to do, but then was super obvious :D Cool concept and a good idea. Lacking a bit on the theme front, though.
Love the concept, I'm glad you made a weird game this time! I was definitely feeling the pressure and panicking when the train was slowing down. Sound effects are awesome, and graphics are just about perfect for a compo game - nice to look at and enough detail to tell what's going on. Well done!
This game has by far the most fun core gameplay loop I've seen in any of the games I've played so far this time around. And the time spent on the SFX was well worth it. I also loved the twist at the end. Made me feel guilty.
Amazing job!
A super solid game! Really liked smash anymations and final bug riot, made me laugh. Great job.
Hi there,
another incredibely cute little thing you made here.
It will be hard to make much enjoyable gameplay than Psychotennis or Dashfister or whatever, but the simple gameplay keeps you busy, while it gives much space to your graphics, animations and humor. I really love to see this evolve at each LD. This becomes more and more cartoon, and wastes less and less time without straight-forward humour.
I loved the main character, tu cute walk and shovel animation... How *simple* and cute (eyes and mouth everywhere ! <3) this is at the same time... The satysfing brutality of squashing insects with that *pow* comics effect...
... The social message at the end, (I'm in doubt regarding the fact that I could have a "good" ending playing better, but I know I could be wrong :))) ... the joy to be able to crush everything when you know it's over...
What can I say constructive... I think you set up clearly your goals, and when I read back blog about Psychotennis designing, I know why it's like that; I'm glad you but more and more efforts in humor, cuteness, story and visuals after proving you rule in game designing and fun. You can keep this tightly efficient fun and simple.
Few sounds coming along with the games fits well and with game's visuals it simply kinda replaces parts of what could have been a ugly graphic UI :)
In few words, I'm glad to play another of your games and see the graphic style in constant evolution, getting more and more cute, with funny punchlines and such satisfing endings.
Congrats, Great job :) Cheers!
