LD39 — Running out of Power

The castle by Tero Pulkkinen 2017-08-02T05:19:27Z

Cool tech demo, but no real gameplay to be had

Avalon by chaoseed 2017-08-03T06:36:47Z

Keep it up, may not have made it this time, but participating is the first step.

Space Journey by foreverip 2017-08-04T21:48:29Z

I liked the intro, the gun felt like it had a weird spread on it. I felt like I didn't have a good direction of where I was going and just kind of aimlessly wandering.

The Hard Life of Egg Robots by Noxalus 2017-08-03T03:32:23Z

Pretty fun arcadey game, reminds me of bubble bobble, which is a good thing.

Nuclear Arms 4: Fallout of The Mountain King by Logicon211 2017-08-03T04:53:32Z

Managed to get stuck in the very beginning by jumping on the barrel and it moving away before I shot it. I liked the music, and the A+ pun. Funny stuff.

I'm an (nuclear) engineer! by zgragselus 2017-08-02T04:54:06Z

Found the instructions a little confusing at first, but then I think I got the idea. Generated some power, was a good time. Most fun was definitely accidentally making a nuclear disaster, the explosion was nice.

Solar Defence by w1n5t0n 2017-08-03T03:35:08Z

I really like the idea presented to be solar powered but having terrain block out your energy.

Starship by wesley werner 2017-08-03T05:25:28Z

I really liked this, though I kind of wanted to aim. Major props for using a fantasy console.

My Kingdom for a Rabbit! by incobalt 2017-08-02T21:57:27Z

I was honestly surprised I enjoyed this so much. I don't normally go in for this kind of game, but the art/mood/writing really sold it for me. Also this take on the theme is one of my favorites. Probably the most charming game I've played this LD.

Space Warrior by Pio 2017-08-02T04:46:13Z

The execution wasn't great, but I really like the idea. Given more time I think this could be made into something really cool. The gravity was really clunky to deal with

Mothership by Almax 2017-08-04T21:33:56Z

I really like this idea. I've never played an RTS like this. Still rough, but I think think this could be made into something really cool.

Tiny Warlock by bwalter 2017-08-04T02:15:10Z

It feels really satisfying to play, thought it can be pretty hard to see what's going on with the particle effects vs the size of the enemies/character.

ZapDune by diptoman 2017-08-02T05:58:32Z

Game was pretty fun, the movement could be the foundation for a game in itself.

Defend Home: Mars by sgt3v 2017-08-03T06:57:52Z

Simple fps game, but it works. Had some control issues with the fact that I play fps games with an inverted y-axis (didn't see an option), but otherwise felt pretty good.

ABANDON SHIP by attrition 2017-08-04T05:03:32Z

This was fun. Only downside was that I felt I had to play the same level over again to get a perfect score. I would mind this as much if there was a level select, but since they are sequential it feels little weird. The control felt nice and the art was great for doing its job, I knew what everything was immediately.

Solaris by wenright 2017-08-04T21:38:14Z

I like the idea, but I never had a reason to shoot. I just kept going until the game crashed (I'm assuming a memory issue)

PowerCubeStationBox™ by NueboMundo 2017-08-03T06:31:02Z

Very cool, unfortunately I was playing a laptop so I think I was playing hard mode. Really cool idea and it was fun figuring out the system.

The Last Cup Of Coffee by jin47 2017-08-03T18:55:07Z

I liked the animations and look of the game. Had personal trouble playing the game as I use inverted y-axis for camera controls and I didn't see an option for it, didn't let that effect the score though. Was fun!

Swing by Lovro Kalinovčić 2017-08-02T04:57:39Z

I really liked the design of the game, was really fun. Only snag I had was that I frequently confused which way I was facing.

Last Bot Standing: Game of the Year Edition by Shaolin Dave 2017-08-02T05:17:31Z

Feels like a modern pacman, that music was fantastic, love it.

Electron by OneMysteryMan 2017-08-04T21:42:10Z

Web version won't start for me, here's the error: ``` Uncaught abort(83) at Error at jsStackTrace (blob:https://onemystery.xyz/5f54198d-52e1-467c-b8b0-a5bd871c65f4:1:17947) at stackTrace (blob:https://onemystery.xyz/5f54198d-52e1-467c-b8b0-a5bd871c65f4:1:18118) at abort (blob:https://onemystery.xyz/5f54198d-52e1-467c-b8b0-a5bd871c65f4:3:55914) at Array.b83 (blob:https://onemystery.xyz/c47ff196-fa82-4ec9-afc2-6057386e0f4d:41:28665) at __ZN13FOutputDevice4LogfEPKwz (blob:https://onemystery.xyz/c47ff196-fa82-4ec9-afc2-6057386e0f4d:19:1735495) at __ZN6FDebug12AssertFailedEPKcS1_iPKwz (blob:https://onemystery.xyz/c47ff196-fa82-4ec9-afc2-6057386e0f4d:16:656213) at __Z17LaunchSetGameNamePKwR7FString (blob:https://onemystery.xyz/c47ff196-fa82-4ec9-afc2-6057386e0f4d:35:1477695) at __ZN11FEngineLoop7PreInitEPKw (blob:https://onemystery.xyz/c47ff196-fa82-4ec9-afc2-6057386e0f4d:27:3343542) at __ZN11FEngineLoop7PreInitEiPPwPKw (blob:https://onemystery.xyz/c47ff196-fa82-4ec9-afc2-6057386e0f4d:38:1918049) at __Z10HTML5_Initv (blob:https://onemystery.xyz/c47ff196-fa82-4ec9-afc2-6057386e0f4d:5:690922) If this abort() is unexpected, build with -s ASSERTIONS=1 which can give more information. ```

Constellation Exploration by matfernandestt 2017-08-02T18:34:12Z

Fun little game, the music was great. The dash felt a little weird, but this is a great arcadey kind of game.

Lantern by Kaban 2017-08-02T04:41:02Z

I really enjoyed the visuals and the mood the audio created

Temple of Illumination by Johngun 2017-08-03T07:02:09Z

Got some super meatboy vibes, felt pretty good. Really liked how fast it was to restart a level.

Hog-Nosed Coon by hijomo 2017-08-03T22:42:14Z

I liked the music, unfortunately the gameplay was very simplistic.

Running Outer-PWR by Amatwiedle 2017-08-02T22:50:32Z

I like the music. The jumping felt a little weird, I found I was able to momentum myself very high from the walljumping blocks. I really like the concept of running around the outer hull of a spacestation. It made choosing where to go next feel very interesting/satisfying.

Power Running? You'd Better Go Catch It! by dgollahon 2017-08-03T06:34:30Z

Fun little game, looks pretty good. Had some control issues with w being jump.

Spaceship Ferry Captain's Handbook, Chapter 12: What to Do in the Event You... by sketchycode 2017-08-03T03:41:06Z

Man, I'm really bad at this. I did complete it, and it was pretty funny bouncing around between all the rocks when I lost control. I found it particularly difficult that I had to aim the ship backwards.

daemon by bombjack 2017-08-02T16:28:50Z

The pixel art is great, the controls and style reminded me a bit of Ninja Gaiden. It felt like the difficulty ramped up a little fast, but I like the extra jump from the sword.

Stargust by eggnog 2017-08-03T04:23:11Z

This was really fun and super charming. I really enjoyed it.

The Torches Are Burning Low by Didactylos 2017-08-02T06:03:11Z

Enjoyed the graphic style, the jump felt really weird to me. I also play fps with inverted y-axis so I had a lot of trouble dealing with that (not docking any rating for that, just a note for future support). I didn't see any relation to the theme, but fun little dungeon maze game.

The Last Question by Terribly Awesome Games 2017-08-02T04:25:58Z

Really enjoyed the mood you set, the art, audio, and story worked really well together

Deleted by maaxoom 2017-08-04T21:54:34Z

Felt pretty good to control. Not sure if I was doing it right, but I was just mashing the right trigger to recharge.

Wave by logiraffe_shawn 2017-08-02T06:21:11Z

Feels very relaxing, I really liked the art. Got some flow vibes from this game. The orb collection sound seemed a little out of place. Also, I really wanted to be one of the animals.

Wayside : A world awaits you by TheCodeFactory 2017-08-02T22:57:05Z

That was a fun little game. Reminded me of a 2d golf game, but the hazards were more... hazardous. Fun stuff.

Space Bear Panic by Chris Coe 2017-08-02T04:34:42Z

Nice simple game, I loved the art and the soundtrack.

Runnerbot LD39Entry by Pixel Game Wizard 2017-08-03T06:43:48Z

Clean gameplay easy to understand design. Ramped up pretty well too, good job.

Power Cores by Ray 2017-08-03T04:39:10Z

The controls felt really nice, bu the camera was a little disorienting. The death animation was very satisfying and I liked the music a lot. Great job.

Torch Boy by FloBar 2017-08-06T03:49:24Z

Liked the slow falling on the charge, I was very surprised when it ended after the first level.

Sensory by VarelseGames 2017-08-03T15:02:12Z

@simonhutchinson Audio is opted out because the game makes use of creative commons sounds, lightly edited. I didn't really create any of the sounds, nor are they altered enough that I consider them mine. On top of that, it's not really what I set out to achieve, while there are lots of people who made great original sound effects/music that deserve ratings.

Sensory by VarelseGames 2017-08-04T02:46:59Z

@logicon211 Yes, that is the mechanic that seems to have the most trouble being communicated. I have better ideas for how to use the sound sensor in the future. In the worst case I've seen people wander through the sound trap not taking any damage and never learn the mechanic for the later levels. The mechanic needs work. For bonus the sound sensor is very helpful for the moving platform.

Qwik by Sno0w 2017-08-03T22:37:38Z

A good start to a racing game, the drifting felt a little harder to control than I'd like. The music is nice.

Exception 39: Core Molten by PanDorfa 2017-08-02T18:57:53Z

Controls felt a little floaty, but I really enjoyed the repeated use of the bouncy platform design. Neat little design concept.

powerrungame by XRQTQMWQ 2017-08-04T21:45:24Z

The controls felt very strange. Looks like you have a decent start to level generation. The game itself seems like you didn't quite finish it.
