The game has got great style. Lots of nice visual detail and good music!
I love how you interpreted the word 'power' as 'superpower' and not electrical power - haven't seen that yet :P The controls 'x' and 'b' didn't work for me :( I'm using the web version. Other than that, this game's pretty nice. The intro moved me. The guy just wants to be young again!
@angela-he Hi Angela! thanks for trying our game, i'll check yours out tomorrow :). By the way, those controls you mention were for xbox controllers. In the "how to play" section we put both the gamepad controls and the keyboard controls (it says something like "press the X button / shift key..."). Sorry for the confusion!
Cool graphics. I also like the idea of superpower. But the walk animation seems to be way to slow.
The art style is easily the best thing about this game. However, as a brawler it leaves much to be desired. The level is short and there weren't many viable options to the combat. You can beat the game by only punching without needing to use the aerial or charge moves. As it is, there's no real reason to even have those more powerful moves from a gameplay perspective.
This was really cool!:D Great art, great music, great story. But fairly glitchy (I played Windows download)
The story was sweet, there was just enough and I loved the ending :') But after they laughed together, I just got a black screen with the music still playing and no options (pressed all da buttons).
Second playthrough, second half of the first screen, I got cornered by 3 enemies by the door and when they punched me out of bounds, I couldn't come back in bounds. I could still punch and have backpain lol, but yeah, it softlocked.
Second screen all four enemies overlapped into a super 8-armed foe that killed me 3 times in a few seconds. This was way harder than the boss (who was too easy, he threw mayybe one punch at me and the minions only made it halfway before I'd won).
Again, this game was really charming, I'd just polish up the code a bit and rebalance things! Good luck~
The art is good. I liked the villains design
I enjoy this game but I think the movement is a bit slow...but if the main character is an old man it´s comprensible. Good job!
Great art and original interpretation of the theme. Unfortunately I think the way you applied the theme to the game affects negatively to the gameplay because although you are an old super hero, and he's the fact an old person, the slow movement of the character make it tedious to play... I think a different approach to represent the decay of the hero, mixing up and down power moments could solve this. Other aspects of the game are pretty good. 👍
I enjoyed your game from frame 1!
I hope there were clear instructions regarding the inputs, rather than dying a lot.
Also if the old man were able to move faster, I think it might have been more fun :D

What a cool game ! I like the art, and i love the idea It's a well polished game, you really did a lot of work in such a short time, great job
That's very nice to have a beat'em up in the jam. Graphics are sweets. The story give a soul to the game
What a great take on the theme! And the retro feel fits quite nicely. I like how you introduce the story without any words in the beginning, and how intuitive the controls are (although Windows kept wanting me to activate sticky keys... Overall a very good game, quite polished and fun. It got repetitive and "old" (get it? :smirk:) quickly, and I think there are possibilities to use the concept for some much more involving gameplay.
Cool! Neat little mini-streets of rage or something. I like it. This is really impressive work for 72 hours with 16-bit style graphics and audio. Nice work!
I enjoy very much the different take on "power" in this game also the sound and music fit very good with this game and make it feel a bit retro to me. I do think the guy was moving a little bit slow. That might fit with an older hero losing his powers but for playability, it is a bit too slow (for my taste)
Hats off to the artist as you recreated that 16-bit feeling really well. It played pretty well too, except that good old Windows' "sticky-keys" kept getting in the way. I really liked the way that the superhero would bend over as he got really tired ... I do that too!
The game looks amazing and the idea is great but the controls really made me feel like I was an old man who can't control himself (maybe that's the plan?! :D).
The X button didn't work and I couldn't use Shift because of sticky keys. I manage to realise I could use the mouse so I did but I think the difficulty was a little bit too high at the beginning because of the controls.
Also I couldn't reach the bottom of the screen and had to watch some chicken and die again. :construction: :poultry_leg:
But other than that issue, I really like the idea overall.
I realy like your take on the theme. nice graphic, how to play section and option menu
It would be nice to have more cnotrol in intro (test moves etc), just moving was strange (or maybe take away control and make it only intro scene)
Adding attack that moved character foward would be nice.
I didn't like black screen at the end of the game :(
This game is really cool ! I'll give them to some friends, I had fun with it's theme ! Nice art too :D
I liked the graphics, but I had some problems with the controls. A better tutorial level would be helpful.
Cool game, but hopefully I had a controller, elsewise it could be difficult to understand the controls. Art is cool, sounds/musics too (even if some sounds was just in my right ear, it was not confortable). Cool game though, plus this is an original idea, so congrats :)
This game is incredible ! I love the story, the humour, the graphics/art, the sound/music... I'm really amazed. it's intelligent, funny, cute... Also the theme is totally respected even if I didn't expect that. You can be proud of your work guys  !
The art is very good ! Congrats for that ! For the theme interpretation, I think it's a good idea, but not sufficiently exploited by the gameplay. Overall, you made a very good entry :D
Great entry! Nice graphics and also great sound. Almost finished game, that's really nice! Good job!
It was a basic beat 'em up but, just like in the arcades the presentation is what made those games compelling and thankfully this game is presented very well. I was little disappointed that the superhero didn't have any lightning special attacks given his costume design.
would like it more if it didnt have depth and was only sidescrolloing
In my opinion, this game was more of a story than a beat 'em up, but it did an excellent job at telling the story through music and art, both of which were very good. The combat was pretty easy, which made me feel like it was more of a support for the actual story, so if you wanted to focus on the gameplay, you might want to have made it a little bit more challenging (and longer). But looking at it from a storytelling perspective, the concept is really good and original and the story you had chosen was actually pretty moving!
Nice combination of retro and modern arcade beat-em-up with the main character representing the best of yesteryear. Simple controls, always appreciated, and an interesting take on sound by having it pan based on the position where the sound was emitted. Very nice.
Really like the style, audio and gameplay! Some more attack variety would've been nice but It's totally understandable for a LD game  I also loved the ending  Well done, all of you!
Very fun game! The gameplay is very enjoyable and the art style is amazing, good job!
I Recently played your game during a live stream at your request. [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEKsM8vugRs) .
Wow the art on this game! Very retro feel to the game and that is a good thing for me. Made me think of TMNT arcade game. I liked how you could continue from where you died and keep playing. I did feel like when you died it would give the bad guys a chance to stack up and spawn kill you. I liked the ending and the cut scenes! Awesome job!
if you haven't already please give my game a try [Zombie Power Station](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/zombie-power-station) HTML5 Thanks
Sooooo goooodddddd!!! Great job, guys! Though the last boss was a pushover by repeatedly using the charge attack. Interesting gameplay nonetheless, and of course everything else here is great!
I like it, but no invincibility window means getting rekt in a corner when there's more than 3 enemies. Great art and really ambitious game !
This game is super cool! Congratz on getting it done within the ludum dare timeframe. The running out of superpower idea was really cool as well (although I didn't really felt it in the game itself). But great job!
Last Shine is a good game with a great scenary! I really like it. Cut-scene is perfect.
Pretty cool game! Great artstyle :)
Awesoooooome! Everything fit so well together. But so hard. Good our hero still has his "Continue" ultimate power^^. Actually that goes well with the game story. I really loved the coughing effect. Makes you feel with the hero much more Very great work!
This was really a lot of fun, especially the coughing fits which got me killed a few times. It's good that you can keep continuing though, I suppose that sort of fits the spirit of the game too. One minor thing I noticed was that sometimes enemy attacks would land even if the player character seemed quite far away from their point of origin vertically. I loved the start too, and the babbling reporter!
** What I liked **
__ + __ Art style __ + __ Theme interpretation __ + __ Musics and sounds
** What imo could be improved **
__ -- __ The fights does not feels right, for a core gameplay this is very bad :( It's not clear when you gonna get hit, enemies restore and hit back even when being combo-ed. __ - __ Got kicked out of screen by an enemy, couldn't get back, had hard time re-entering the game, the intro is really too long... __ - __ Gameplay should be explained while playing, several screen of touch description is pretty boring
** Overall **
Got really hooked by the ideas and graphics. The music follows very well, but the realization and gameplay is way behind. It's frustrating because I really wanted to play the game I expected while seeing the promising presentation, and I was totally in until I started to actually play. Still a great job and a fresh idea, keep going !
edit: Could go to the end in the post jam version. It's a bit better but I feel the fights still lacks precision and clarity. Glad I could go to the end, the story is pleasing and well illustrated with great music =)
Wow, this was a tremendous amount of work to complete in such a short time frame! It successfully replicates the style of a Final Fight type game, complete with the occasional (and appreciated) sense of unfairness from enemy attack. Very cool!
Such an ambitious project, and very well executed. Graphics and music are very good. I'm really impressed. The gameplay could be improved a bit (the super punch made the game somewhat easy, especially against the boss). But insanely well done anyways!
Lovely art and sound. It was a great little experience to play through and the ending was touching. I did feel like I was getting rocked in the combat without much that I could do (thank god for continue) so that was a bit frustrating. Very impressive that you were able to put all that together for the jam though.
Had fun with this and was nice to remember the old days of going to the arcade and playing the tmnt, simpsons and x-men beat'em up games. Was a well done homage to them, with its sound effects and art. Also the ending was a nice funny surprise.
Very nice style to the game, feels pretty polished! It got kind of difficult pretty quickly, and I would often get stunlocked in the corner and die. Maybe if you charged a power attack or moved a little faster that could help? Otherwise, I really enjoyed it! The graphics were good and the music fit well.
The game's so short, but it's really nice and sweet! Kinda challenging, as you will often die after a group of enemies appear. I know the hero's gotten old, but a bit more balancing on this part would be nice (I did like that he gets bad sometimes, though :P).
Great work on the visuals for the game, as well for the audio! The story's also really nice and the ending was quite a nice thing too! :D
Good job there! ;)
Despite the weird collision detection this was pretty darn good.
Challenging, but fun. I enjoyed the graphics a lot and the music was very well made. The keyboard controls were a bit fiddly, but not enough to make it unplayable. Overall, very nicely done. Congrats!
This was a solid entry! From a visual aspect it had a great deal of charm and it looked way above average for a Game Jam title. I also enjoyed the humor and the take on the theme and while the music you had was good, I don't understand why you didn't have any playing during the main chunk of the game. Perhaps it was a bug (I played the web version). The gameplay was quite standard and worked okay, but I believe some things can be done to improve it. Firstly, I found that it wasn't as satisfying as it could have been. Perhaps some screen shake or enemy flash or something along those lines would make it feel even better to battle enemies. Speaking of the enemies I found myself often times getting ganged up on and it didn't feel very good as I didn't seem to find a way of getting out without brute forcing my way through it by dying multiple times. I eventually figured out that perhaps I was meant to use the blocking but I found it very unintuative that it was a toggle. I'd much rather be holding down the button to block and releasing it to stop. Overall, this was a solid entry with lots of charm and a cool take on the theme, but also with a couple of things left to iron out. Good work, regardless!
