An Empty Room by Cosr 2012-01-09T14:35:00
very awesome concept, but I have no idea how to not die. I made lots of noise and it sort of kept the dots at bay for a couple seconds...then I died again. Cool use of microphone though, VERY original :)

very awesome concept, but I have no idea how to not die. I made lots of noise and it sort of kept the dots at bay for a couple seconds...then I died again. Cool use of microphone though, VERY original :)
This was really fun! :) Great audio and graphics, reminded me of some classic NES or Atari action. Awesome. I did notice a crash/bug when I lost a game though. The game didn't crash when I won or tied, but I got the "This program has stopped working" error when I lost. Good job!
nice and creepy music!
Wow, good stuff. I couldn't figure out what to do, and when in open water there was no sense of movement. The horizon was still, and the water was just blue, only the boat and guy animated. I loved the music and the graphical style though! :)
Unfinished, but very playable and fun. Great graphics and sound to boot. :D
pretty fun, but very hard to tell what is what on the screen. I died quickly, but took two aliens with me! haha :)
is that Mr. Peanut? haha. Pretty interesting entry, although it's also pretty bare. Interesting mechanic with rings for flight.
Dude, awesome! Very fun game :)
wow....hahaha. I could never catch the cat. EVER.
Nice job!
excellent entry. Very creepy, and very hard! Love it.
nice work! Very fun. Reminds me of jumpman lives! :D Great music too.
Your HowTo screen ruined the surprise :P hah.
Very neat concept, like Sokoban and gladOS had a baby. My only beef is that dying made me restart the whole game, including the "tutorial" levels. Otherwise, very enjoyable.
Extra points because we apparently have the same laptop model! :)
very nicely done. It took my back to Kroz days :D
cool sounds! I found the controls very annoying :\
I too am a member of the "Could not find the main class: Snowfall. Program will exit." club :\
Dude, awewsome! hahaha
such fun!
Linux only? :(
Score!
Super neat concept, and interesting graphical style :) I played for a bit but kept clipping out of the level and dying on the "first real mission, don't disappoint". Fun though!
Hah, awesome ending (thanks for the readme tip on it :)). Very funny, and great audio :)
not bad, but the cruelty would have been way more effective had you given the player some method to save some puppies. Having no power or choice just makes it a necessary and boring mechanic. Give me the power to save some puppies however, and not all puppies, and I'd feel more guilty as I have to choose which puppies to put down.
neat :)
cool entry! I couldn't figure out how to not die with dynamite though. Some more hints or warnings about traps and things that kill me would be nice.
also, awesome community content! :)
I can't get it to run. I double-click the exe and nothign happens. But I can run other XNA/.NET entries fine :( Any ideas?
keypad only? But I only have a laptop! :(
nice job, very cool!
Super cool aesthetic! I love the creepy dark look and sounds :) I too ran out of ammo before encountering enemies.
Hmm, it says I need the August 2008 version of direct X to run this game :(
Finally got it working. Pretty cool, but the physics are very frustrating at times. I stopped playing after I died the 20th time on the 3rd or 4th level. Love the audio and theme related aesthetic :)
interesting play on zombie theme. I like the mechanics. The collision detection got a bit sticky and made things more difficult, but well done over all :)
nice work! I would have loved some sound and ability to fire on an angle. awesome day/night cycle and progressive difficulty. I like the weapon variety too. Cool stuff!
great path finding, but the controls are frustrating a bit. I did beat it though, so it must have been interesting :)
Very cool music and audio. But I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the skulls. Both the throw and collect buttons threw stuff, so I couldn't beat it :\
This doesn't really feel like a game, and is kind of boring after the first stage. I think there is potential in the idea though, perhaps more time and a more fun mechanic would make it better :)
Great work :) And amazing community effort. All those binaries plus timelapse! (FYI it seems to be broken on youtubes)
your website seems to be down :(
Nice work man! I love the graphics. Is that real 3D or simulated with sprite/location calculations? The collisions did get a bit annoying, but I still beat it and had fun :)
Very cool! Love the music. I found the collision a bit hard on the holes that you had to fall though. But neat concept and great visuals and music!
hahaha, very fun! I love the little hug me sounds. And once I found out what the power ups did it was an extra dimension of fun. Need moar bombs! :)
thanks for your feedback! :)
Yes, definitely agree. I also want the avatar to move around a lot faster, and populate the level with more stuff. Time ran out though. Thanks for your feedback, eld! :)
Thanks SonnyBone and vubuntu! :D
Thanks wally2069. You guys have inspired me to keep working on this one!
Thanks for your feedback and bug report, Benjamin! :) That was one of the bugs I was trying to squash in the final moments of the compo. I put in a hack for level switching but it overlooked the avatar being there persistently, and was check it's variables without it actually being there (d'oh!).
Thank you Suese! :)
@Raptor85 Any specific errors, or does it just crap out?
@defiantburrito Thanks! I think I missed the fun boat a bit for sure. It's a bit serious, and simulation-ey.
Awesome! I could only get to 6/10 gold, and died a few times. But never from no oxygen...the shark got me! :)
Won't work for me either, windows 7, 64 bit. The error details say:

Huh, i tried all that and when I tried to add an exception, I got an error that says
"This program must run with data exception protection (DEP) enabled. You cannot turn off DEP for this program."
Well that sucks. :\
oh snap, that might be it. I've got VS on my system. I'll give that a try once I get back to my compy :)
Man, I am glad I was persistent. I tried it on my other laptop also on windows 7 but no VS and it worked.
Awesome job! Great sounds.
Duuuuude. Awesome job! What a great fun game, and I love the concept and humor! :D
Anything else I need to install? It wont work in chrome 16.0.912.63 m
It just opens to a black page, with the instructions, but no graphics or sound
interesting concept!
Pretty fun, although the jumping and sticking was a bit hard to work around. Original graphics! :) Good one!
holding off until the bitly concerns are addressed. Screenshot looks neat though :)
Cool tech demo and music, but not really a game (per your comments above). Any future plans for it?
514 zombies and Godlike! Nice. :) Very fun gameplay
Any plans to polish up the graphics and sound?
says I'm missing libstdc++-6.dll. I'm running windows 7
super awesome wicked graphics. But I found the game waaaaay to hard. Couldnt get past the first level :( Cool that you included the editor too! well done!
kinda cool, although I found I never died. I ended up stock piling over 50 missiles with nothing to shoot at. Cool alone/space vibe though :)
excellent entry! I found the ghost very hard to get past, and died. But up to that point the game is great! :) very nice gameboy-esque graphics too. well done.
Interesting concept, and awesome that you also made a level editor. However, I couldn't really figure out what to do. I just ran away from the slimes until I died...over and over. I was also confused by the spawner and thought it was the end square for a couple rounds.
awesome job, and very original idea! :D Worked on win7 64 bit for me
Great job! I found the control scheme took some getting used to but it was neat once I got the hang of it. It would be cool to see some kind of "mode" indicator to show if I am using blue guys, etc.
I was able to use 64 bit windows 7 with no issues, but I have game maker installed. I wonder if that's it?
very original concept! The game itself was really buggy for me for some reason. I could only spawn more than one soldier unit. and once the finger got to it, the finger moved slowly down off the screen then the game exited
nice game! Some more polish and this could be amazing fun. The game as is is still pretty great. Reminds me of starcraft, but teensy. Cool! :)
this is great! :D
very original :)
i like the graphical and audio styling a lot. I could not figure out how to unload my items from the other world though. Barking as the main mechanism was neat
I tend to agree with graytest. Cool game, but not terribly engaging with respect to gameplay
very original concept, but it's quite buggy at times. I was able to beat the first level, and after that it locked up on me for some reason.
pretty fun! I couldnt keep up at the end, but that made it challenging. Pretty fun, simple mechanic too :)
excellent! :D
Pretty cool man! I wasn't sure what the end-game would be so after my planet got really big I just got wrecked by a scorpion lol
pretty fun! Love the moody lighting/fog of war :)
nice concept and graphical style! I couldn't not die for more than a few encounters though. The world seemed to be a bit too randomized almost, i got lost and just ended up moving around trying not to die
Nice work! Impressive quality given 48h time frame
holy sweetsauce this is maybe the most original game i've evern played! haha! Love the sound effects. And now I'm kind of hungry for some DEADBEEF.
neat concept. I was not able to maintain all my guys on the screen, so I ran out. There was also a bug (?) where all the bugs overlapped each other in the middle of the screen. Good music!
pretty fun game. I could not figure out how to get all the rubies on each level. Time for another play-through!
The 4 way movement + 4 way shooting makes for some frantic gameplay. It's pretty fun! I lasted 3 rounds and killed 54 enemies. The music is pretty great too
This is a really neat concept! However, the first mode that I discovered was the "turn based movement" and the speed of the controls made me so annoyed I almost stopped playing. Then I read the comments, and discovered some other stuff too. And I found a sword. Neat. I think overall if the game was a little snappier control-wise it would be more enjoyable. Seriously good idea though :)
Pretty cool game! I really like how the idea fits the theme. It was fun to fiddle with different settings and see what happened. It had a good "sim" feel to it and I liked the music. I max'd out around 1350 population and 50 or so species! :)
Duuuuude, fantastic entry! LOVED the graphical style and audio, and great use of the theme. Well done! :D
I can't play it :( No Android...
I liked it! However, some audio would have been nice. I found the balance of resources hard to manage, and I usually ran out of resources or workers after a few minutes. The idea of a tiny micro battle is neat though. You should expand on this game :)
I really liked the visual style! :) I couldn't quite figure out how to kill the zombies though. I kept falling down and restarting :\
This was a well executed idea :) I loved tacking on more globs of goo to my guy so I could shoot and move faster. I did find it hard to figure out where he was when the level was crowded with other guys. Good job :)
I like the super chunky pixel graphics! Some sound would have added a lot to the game. I also enjoyed the humor in the intro scene :)
Very neat concept, and the first colour graphics were really cool looking. The music was also great. I got list after 8 bit as the girl in the woods seemed interactive, yet she wouldn't attack or let me level up. I found the controls with mouse kind of annoying, and would have preferred arrow keys. Good job overall :)
A pretty fun concept, and good audio. I found the gameplay a bit dull after a few rounds of evolution though.
I think this had some potential, as the graphics and sounds were great. However, I couldn't get past the first area. And I fell off the edge to the right into the black abyss. I found the controls very frustrating. And when the Ameebas moved, they pushed me through the floor :\
don't have android :(
Clever take on evolution, I think :) The lack of audio and animations kind of made the game feel lifeless though. Also, I think I found a bug - at the end I put down all my horses and the game crashed :|
Cool concept! I died so hard every time! haha. I think it could have had snappier controls, and of course audio would have made it better. Good work! :)
I really liked the idea and mood. The controls made me frustrated when trying the smaller platforms though. I couldn't get passed the level with the flamethrower. I tried a couple dozen times and couldn't make the second tiny platform :(
SUCH funny dialogue during the tutorial :) I really liked the super crisp graphical style. I must admit, the game has a very slow pace, so I found it hard to reply more than a couple times. Good job though
Haha, very fun voice effects. I like the concept, it's pretty funny, and not what I expected. Good music too. :)
I like the concept of running to catch DNA things and evolving. I found the controls to be a bit sluggish feeling, and I couldn't ever run very far from the dude behind me. :\
Pretty cool. I really liked the DNA strand animation! The best part of this is your description - "BUT IT'S AWESOME THAT WE DID THIS, EVEN IF IT SUCKS.". That's the key right there. Can't wait to see what your future entries are like! :)
Cool concept, having to switch modes to pick up certain "food". The music was good too :)
I liked the sound effects and the concept. However, I didn't quite get into the game play as it wasn't very fun for me. I think speeding up the game play or allowing for more time before you lose might help with the pacing and fun factor.
it was...interesting. But I couldn't really figure out how to make the little dudes do stuff. I like the ridiculous humour. Some sounds would have helped the overall feel I think.
Very cool intro narrative, and I loved the graphics and music. I found the game didn't progress as quickly as I thought it would, I the second time around, I wish I could have skipped through the the intro text. All around a fun game! :)
Interesting concept! I like the snappy/bouncy feel of the controls, and that the border got smaller if I hit it. I couldn't get the second set of genes though. But I like the idea of different stats/upgrades with each gene. Very nice!
It didn't really seem aligned with the theme, but it was a cool concept anyway. I liked the mechanic a lot, and the graphics and sounds were cool too. I was unable to beat match all the way though, but did unlock a few additional bits of music/rhythm. Nice job!
not bad - I got 105 apples! I like the idea of having to watch the horizon for incoming apples. I did find that the game pace was too slow though. More frantic progression might add some more intensity and fun into the mix. Perhaps "X apples in a row" bonus with crazy reward or multiplier sound effects or something.
I really liked the first level, but I couldn't get passed the second "2d jumping guy" world. I kept getting stuck on seams, and I couldnt jump :(. Really good audio in the first world
Great music :) I liked the bunny's animation as well. After falling down the first major hole, I couldn't jump passed the spikes. I re-tried the level, but that section of it kept coming up, so I couldn't progress. Randomly generated levels is a cool idea though, and it seems to work with this game.
Best audio of the competition that I've seen so far! :D I found myself "feeling around" with my ears to hear when I bumped the walls, etc. Very well executed. I wasn't sure if the game had ended, but a white fish with no eyes (me, evolved I presume?) appeared for a second. Seriously great audio and mood though, wow.
It was pretty great! The controls were a bit unpolished feeling, but I got a grasp of it and finished. The power ups could have stood out more, as the first level's yellow on baby blue background took me a bit to notice. One thing that happened on the first couple levels was that the keyboard input from the previous level continued and I instantly went off the edge of the screen. Well done overall! :)
This is pretty fun! I cannot win for the life of me though, haha. I got 7 of 15 once, which is decent. It's neat to see someone using html5 too. I love the graphical feel of the parchment and hand drawn map items. It's a great aesthetic :)
This was really fun to play. GFX and audio are top notch as usual :) One thing I did stumble on was difficulty curve. I demolished the first room, and the first couple people in the next room, then was unable to recover. Every time I got up I got knocked back again because there were too many guys in the small room. But I must admit, I will keep trying, because the combat has a nicely satisfying crunch. Good job!
This looks amazing! But I cannot get the key to work in the lock :( It falls behind the door and is gone. The ambient sound is great too.
I really didn't like the sluggish controls, and I got stuck where I couldn't seem to evolve any more, and couldn't jump over the barrels/boxes. I liked the music, and overall quirky nature of the idea though. Rock and roll kittens!
Pretty fun entry. I would have loved to have some audio though.
Really good job! :) I loved the satirical story and voice acting. The graphics and music were great too.
Pretty neat visuals, and I like the old school "1 block at a time" controls. However, I couldn't quite figure out how to play properly (or at least I don't think I was playing properly). The minimap was cool.
I thought this was really good. The music and parallax background made it just fun and moody to wander around and explore. One bit I think could have been better was the combat and labels on the cell types in store (how much the cost and what they do for your stats). I think that'd make this game even better. I got pretty far before dying, but I don't know how to max my stats or do combat effectively, so I don't know if I can beat other life forms. Well done :)
Lovely music :) I liked the concept of the game. But I found it really easy to just buy/plant/sell and get rich. After a few turns, I had more money than I could spend.
Pretty cool concept, but the game kept crashing on me :\ The gfx and sounds were nice, and the intentionally frustrating starting controls were a neat idea. So hard at first, but fun!
Thanks lazybraingames! I am really happy with it. I hope you enjoy your extended play through :D
@Kuulog - yeah, I discovered that book throw bug right after submission time ended :\
@Zed - Thanks - I think the rope is my favourite texture in the whole game, and it was the last one I added! hehe. The game definitely short. I wanted to make more levels, but ran out of time.
@Cell - thanks :)
@NateNaterson Thank you sir! My one and only play tester also had this experience. Thanks for the feedback :)
@zatyka Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback daydalus! :D
Thanks tastive!
@Gidaio and @tigerj - I am so glad to hear you liked it :D I had so much fun making it!
@Misfit thanks!
@cacciatc Thanks! I was really pleased with how that bit turned out!
@Puzzlem00n Thanks! I picked Dawkins because of his "Selfish Gene" work, and how memetics was based on that. I wanted to incorporate more themes from The Ancestor's Tale as well (hence the rats) but didn't have time to elaborate as much as I wanted :) Thanks for playing!
@olav_st Thank you! :) I'm sorry the audio didn't work for you! Did you get any errors or anything, or was it just not producing sounds?
Thanks berkano! Good suggestion about music. It was definitely on my to do list for the compo :)
Thanks Fadobo! :)
Thanks for playing and your feedback RawBits! :) I didn't make the ending very obvious, but you did make it to the end. A better ending and a fix to that book throwing bug ware on the top of my fix-it list for sure.
AMAZING job. Love it :D
Revisiting now that I can officially rate it. Great game, I really like the use of the theme. I found myself laughing while playing, and actually wanting to play more if I died or had to restart. The banana boost mechanic is cool, and is introduced well, i think. One bit I think could be better is the crate movements. I got stuck 2 or 3 times trying to move the same one (it got pushed against the wall when I jumped). A "pull" ability would solve this. Maybe something to work in later if you keep working on the game (which you totally should!) :)
Amaaaaaazing audio and mood! What a creepy, creepy game. Very well done! I couldn't get "outside" to meet the new cpu though. I walked back through every room to every corner, and even tried space-bar-ing every wall wolfenstein style. I want to finish! :S
Crashed on open for me as well. Here's the error text:

I got a glowing sword and killed a minotaur, then died at the hands of another, more vile minotaur. I found the commands a bit hard to learn on my own, but I guess they are there in he entry page so it's all good. Fun game :)
Hah, I love the audio! "OH YEAH." :D Very interesting idea, too. I found the mechanic hard at first, but got used to it and it works well I think. I did have the blue block get stuck a couple times on the wall though, which meant I had to restart the level. The upside of course that the levels were nice and short, so it wasn't a hassle. Good work :)
This was great! The audio was of course superb. One criticism I suppose is that the car crash sound was a bit too loud compared to the rest. Although it's a car crash sound so perhaps it should be that way. I also wish there was an ending (or perhaps there is but I think I played for a solid 15 minutes). Well done :)
I thought the music was cool, but couldn't really figure out how to play properly. The cars never seemed to go at each other properly...it took ages :(
I can't run the game either. Here's the error I get:
http://whilefun.com/img/misc/SpaceTheoryError.jpg
I loved the mood and music, and minimal pixelated graphics. One thing I thought detracted was that the story text was easily missed as it was only visible when I was on the block. I found myself having to go back a step or two to read it each time. On the upside, I wanted to read it all :) The commentary was a nice and funny touch. Well done!
Very impressive graphics and sound. I was unable to find other games, so I just ran around the arena alone. I didn't think this stuck to the theme much, but it was still pretty cool. Good job :)
I loved the monochromatic graphical style, and the music was cool. I found the gameplay a bit flat though...it wasn't clear what I should do next. But I did keep going right and beat the game. Some more animation and game sounds would make this game better. I hope you put more time into it :)
I was unaware that going outside gave me negative points, and found the controls hard to use well. The idea is neat though, and the background and graphics are pretty good too.
Very good entry! :) The music and overall aesthetic is sort of "Terminator"-esque, even though it's 16x16 pixels. Very original, and fun.
Cool idea, I liked that I could fire really hot potatoes, but at the cost of taking longer. The sounds were subtle and effective. I wish the controls were a little more fluid for more twitchy multiplayer craziness. Good work :)
Ok, that was really hard, but I'm glad I went ahead and installed XNA (I thought I would never say that haha). Good job! Love the music! :)
I had trouble figuring out how to progress past the transportation hub. The guys just kept wanting to shoot me. Very good music and graphics...and way to include a potato! :)
I see what you mean by not quite finished, but what is there is pretty good! :) It managed to be a little unsettling with simple blocks and colors and sounds. Good job!
Wow, good job! :) It got very difficult at times, so I'm glad there was a skip level button
Pretty cool - I love that you basically included a level editor with your game. That's great! I found the hero movements a bit sticky (got stuck on the walls a lot). Good job, I hope you do more LD jams! :)
Very, very odd, but really interesting. I loved the sound effects, and music. It seems you really put yourself into your game which is awesome. Good work :)
Hah, hilarious idea! I found it hard to play (got stuck under blocks), but it was original...and funny :)
Ok, that's pretty original :) At first I didn't get what it was, then saw the first result. Super cool idea!
Excellent use of humor...funniest game I've played so far. The mechanic was pretty interesting too. I scored 5870 with 104 hits and 9 misses. The quick time event jab was very clever also, made me laugh. Well done! :)
Very nice work. I really liked the use of the theme here, very unconventional but interesting. Keep making more games! :)
Pretty cool idea, although I found it hard to control. The scoring scheme is neat, and the music was great :)
Neat idea! The pace seemed a bit slow, and the ball got stuck a couple times, but it was pretty fun :)
Regrettably, I cannot play :( The screenshots do look intriguing though
It took me a few tries to figure it out, but once I did it was really fun! The music and gameplay went together very well I thought. Good stuff :)
I was potatonuked! That isn't nice. Very original idea, I thought. Catchy music too. Good work! :)
Ah, nice! I really liked the music and space visuals. One thing I thought would be cool if the player could "quick restart" (just mash space or something) rather than pressing enter and selecting play with mouse. Well done though :)
Pretty neat concept! I thought this was a great entry. I had a lot of fun playing, and figuring out the mechanics. That level with the two red boxes is angering. Haha. Good work :)
Pretty neat idea, and very challenging! I can do about as well in this game as super hexagon...haha...only about 13.9 seconds! Some audio would have added a lot to this entry. Good job :)
Great graphics and sound. The gameplay got a bit tiring after a little while. I got 1,200,000 points :) But then gave up :( Some bonuses or other fly types would zazz it up a bit I think.
I found the controls very hard to use with keyboard. Precision aiming would be better I think, or I should have used a joystick. I was only playing single player, and could not get a point for the life of me. I liked the music and sound effects. Interesting take on air hockey, too.
Graphics are amazing as always. Pretty fun gameplay as well. Interesting take on the theme, too. Good work :)
Seriously amazing job. This has depth, fun, and is a very good use of the theme. Well done, I will be coming back to this game. I hope you pursue it further after the jam :)
Pretty cool idea! I thought this was original, and interesting, and minimalistic. I did find timing the line drawing a bit hard to master. Often I would draw the line, but let go of my mouse button a hair too late thus letting the block pass through. Maybe tweaking that would enhance the fun factor a bit more. Good stuff.
I had the same problem as jayemjee. I'm running windows 7 and an ATI Radeon HD 6800, AMD FX 4100, 8GB RAM
Very great mechanic and introduction of it on the title screen. The music was great, and the minimal visuals and one button controls were well done. Good work! :)
I thought this was meaningful, and interesting. I think some movement/AI bugs kept it from being really good. Interesting choice above omitting sound. I think it made the resulting "win" conditions more potent. Good job :)
I thought this looked and sounded really great. I had a really hard time grasping the gameplay though, even after reading the instructions a couple times and trying it. The music was lovely.
Very cool idea! The controls were a bit hard in spots, as I got stuck on a couple wall edges. I hope you add more content here, as I think it has potential! :)
Pretty cool game, I enjoyed the rope mechanic. I got lost a bit, and couldn't find the end (I assume there is one). Great music, and a good amount of creepy factor :)
Thanks egos!
Thanks Tobias! I want to add more levels with steeper difficulty at some point
Thanks Kingsman142, I'm happy you liked it! I agree the dragging lag is kind of annoying. I think I have a "//TODO: tweak this" in the comments :) It was a work around for a bug that went away. I might make it user configurable or just better. Thanks for the feedback! :)
Thanks for playing, and your feedback Kashi! I will look into tweaking the timers or perhaps adding a difficulty setting.
Thanks for playing tiffi! I hope to add more levels with increasing difficulty :)
Hah, yes, sorry about that CiderPunk. That's now a couple votes for "better mouse speed!" :D Thanks for playing!
Thanks for your feedback, loxo! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope to add more puzzles, and maybe keep the concentration of timed ones on the low side :)
Thanks Masadow :)
Thanks, JustinMullin :D
Thanks, FREEZX! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D
Thanks for your feedback, Shugor! A level creator is a great idea :)
I appreciate your feedback, fullmontis. Thanks for playing! I am glad you enjoyed it :)
Thanks ShellfishGames! That is great feedback. I am glad you liked it
Thanks nddrylliog! :)
Thank you awppy :)
You are welcome, pvwradtke! Thank you for playing, and the great feedback. Glad you liked it! Cheers :)
Thanks mattperrin! That's awesome, haha. I actually put a lot of thought into the dissolve animation (it's random, but symettric, and still blocky...I love it), so I am glad you enjoyed it too :)
Thanks for playing, kyru! :)
@Alexander, what did you use to play? :| I can't imagine using a touch pad or something similar...oh dear. Thanks for playing! I am considering adding gamepad and/or basic keyboard support (or maybe porting to a touch device).
Ah, great ramoncb! I hope you are inspired to finish the last 3 levels. The ending is super cool...I am biased of course :) Thanks for playing!
Thanks for playing, olkeencole! :)
That is an excellent point, moomoo112. Thanks for bringing it up. I was trying to go for a psychological trick by making the first solution "too obvious", to see if people would ignore it and complete the switch/zapper puzzle instead of the "drag 2 blocks up 32 pixels" puzzle. When replaying it, I actually avoided the obvious solution, and used the switches...so I didn't know what you were talking about. I replayed again, and saw it. Whoops! I think I should have given this a bit more thought, or made it a bit more subtle (or less subtle?) or something. Something for version 2.0 for sure. Thanks for playing, and your feedback! :)
Thanks, Tifu! :D
Thanks for your feedback, DaveDobson! This is all great stuff. I am incorporating this and everyone else's feedback into "v2.0" that I plan to post soon. Thanks for playing! :)
Thanks for playing Kvisle! I'm glad you finished it :)
Thanks for playing, Christopher :)
Thanks GranaDa! Glad you liked it :)
Thanks Tsuki_Usagi :) I am glad you had fun! I've started to develop more puzzles, but have not quite got it ready yet. More complexity and difficulty are the key ingredients in the new ones.
Thanks for your feedback, bvanschooten :)
Thanks a lot, Purplescape :)
I found the controls with the mouse to be a bit hard to master. Nice use of the theme, and nod to potatoes haha :)
Pretty cool! I totally abused the double-jump to get to places I don't think I was supposed to get to. Fun entry!
Unfortunately, I don't have a mac :(
I couldn't make it past age 5. Good use of humor, and theme! :) I died a lot, but each time was fun and usually good for a chuckle when I died of [something]. Music was nice too. Good job!
This is a really great entry. I got stuck on a couple parts and was tempted to quit playing, but pushed through and got to the end. I think checkpoints in the 2nd level would be helpful. Audio was great, visuals were subtle and nicely done. Good job!
A mere 59.5 seconds the first go, and a respectable 184.6 the second try!
Very good audio. It took me a second to realize that the wave timing was the level of the water relative to the screen/frame. Once I got that, I was able to ride them a bit and took slightly longer to die. The second go round was way better.
Consider putting this up in mobile app stores, if only for fun. High score bragging rights could be fun. It's a perfect touch screen game :)
Very unique take on the theme. I found that there was almost too much to keep track of, but it was still cool. The spectate option after the fact is great, because it shows just how bad a job I did entertaining the crowd. haha. Nice work :)
What a crazy and interesting game! I found the arrows counter to what I would expect in terms of movement on the screen. If you are going to work on a post-compo version, consider a "flip x" option or something. I really appreciate the concept of matching the holes to the falling triangles. Nice work :)
Neat game! At first I found the inverted W,S keys annoying, then reached for my Xbox 360 controller and was off to the races. It took me a few moments to realize that the Stroke movement could be held. I also didn't realize at first that the sonar was functional. Cool idea! Once I got that, the game became instantly more fun to play. At the end, I didn't understand where I needed to go, so I just kept swimming "forward". I either got eaten by the fish, or escaped. Fun! :)
At first I was not having a good time, but then I figured out how to work the loadout elements. Geeked out pretty hard once I got to use the other more advanced gear. So good! Great art style, too :) *high five* Time to play the post-compo version :D
Pretty fun entry! I found the sounds the heavy man made to be pretty funny. Crushing the things and chasing down the humans was fun. Good work :)
This game has so much potential but I couldn't figure out how to finalize and serve the food :( Great music and graphics, and very funny! One feature to make it great: A tutorial/practice level so I can learn to cook and prove my skill before opening the restaurant.
The windows build doesn't work for me (windows 7). Once I get past the intro text, the sub just sits there. No mouse or keyboard presses make anything happen :(
Just played the fixed win7 build. Nice job! The audio and atmosphere here are great. It was really fun to just move around and explore, looking at all the neat stuff. I did manage to get stuck in the physics a few times, and moved out of the level completely once. You should fix up the colliders and release a post-compo version. Fun game! :)
Neat! I got one of the ships (?) to fly off by lighting up the colored circles. Very abstract, but interesting. I liked the transparency and color scheme. I hope you finish making the game.
Really great entry. The tension is great, and the glowing eyes! The jumping controls felt a little sluggish to me, not snappy enough or something. Great audio and graphics, and I love the art style. Nice work :)
Neat game idea. I had a really hard time with the controls, and as a result couldn't get the fish to drill in the direction I wanted. Cool concept!
It took me a while to discover that the arrow keys also shoot your gun. This was a pretty fun game! Nice work :)
SO FUN! Such an odd angle on the theme, but very well done all around. I figured out how to dig traps for the lightbulb/ghost things, and get to the memories. Great job! :)
This was really fun, although a bit hard. I liked the turn based aspect, which I find pretty unique to a LD entry. Nice work :)
Got to 10,700 points! WHAT A GOOD GAME. I found the block clicking sounds a tad too heavy on the treble at times. The must was great. I think the purple blocks should come a tiny bit sooner, as I started to think I would never lose the game. Then BAM, I lost haha. You really should consider getting this onto iPad or something, for real. Good work!
The music was very suitable and grim. Loved it. I found it a bit hard to weed out the bad guys when they were in a crowd with the civilians. I really enjoyed the news paper based progress. The whistle is mapped to the 'C' key for me, but the text said the 'X' key. If used once, the whistle seemed to no longer work, (no "sound lines" animation) but it still made the sound. The animations were nice as well. Neat concept, and good job overall. I finished to the end (well, almost...I lost the capital!) :)
Nice graphics and music. I found the right click ability ran out too quickly, though, so I spent a lot of time waiting for the charging bar to fill. Good entry :)
Yay, best friends forever! :D Fun entry. The super duper lighting and shadows added some nice atmosphere and the music was nice.
This was a pretty fun game. I kept playing for a long time! :) It would be cool if the mouse had some visual indicator of magnetic range (even a basic aura or circle graphic) and force. The use of multiple pickaxe/dig sounds was nicely done. 15 minutes of digging on repeat never got annoying or grating, which is saying something! Nice job :)
I cannot get past the menu :( On win7 using chrome 34.0.1847.131
Cool use of the theme. It wasn't clear when I died sometimes, other than the score reset. A few sounds and some updated graphics would make this a pretty fun game I think. :)
The music was pretty fun, and gave a good sense of urgency. I found the timer for the levels a bit too short most of the time. Also, each time I died, I wanted to play again, but the only option was 'Z' to quit. With a few tweaks to timing, I think this could be really fun :)
Yaaaaaaay! Wait. Awwww. Fun entry! +1 for using a timmie's cup haha. Very funny, and the scratch mechanism was surprisingly satisfying. Nice work :)
This game is really hard, but very enjoyable! The ninja voice sounds were great. I feel like with a little polish to jump distance and level generation, this would make a really fun game. Nice work! :)
Very neat idea. I found the control scheme for the monocytes a bit hard to learn. Even when I thought I had set them up correctly, sometimes they didn't do what I planned for them. Loved the music, and the concept.
For your first ever game, and made in 48 hours, this is pretty impressive. Keep making games! :D
I liked the mood of the game, and the music was nice. I was a bit unclear about what I was collecting, or why. At the last level, I pressed enter (as I wasn't sure if it was the last level) and it took me back to the menu. I guess I finished? Interesting entry
Pretty cool combination of things here. Making steam was neat. You should add more levels and sounds and stuff, and release a post-compo version :)
Excellent use of audio and atmosphere. Felt super creepy. The bite/eat sound was very satisfying. Good work! :)
This game was pretty fun, although pretty hard. Even with no sound, the atmosphere was conveyed well with the monolithic structure and sky. I think some textures would make orienting ones self a little easier. Sometimes it was hard to tell if I was moving up or down relative to the other platforms or the tower, since the shading was solid and some parts had no lighting break up. Good work :)
This was a really cool game! I found the finer controls a bit difficult for moving barrels and turning valves (i got stuck on things). Great feel and atmosphere though, and impressive graphics and audio. Nice work! :)
Hah! loved the graphics and music. Very funny use of the theme! :) Nice work.
Very nice interpretation of the theme. I enjoyed the visuals, as well as the news clippings/post-it notes/etc of the menus and game over screens. I found it very difficult to find the informants however. Nice job overall :)
Sorry, can't play it. When I open the jar, I get a java exception right away :(
web link is broken for me as well. It downloads an html file rather than hosting the game within it
Neat graphics, and atmpsphere. I felt a bit lost, and randomly died (I think...I fell over and the game restarted). This is visually interesting, and I hope it becomes more of a full game some day :)
Pretty funny use of the theme. The graphics and animations and sounds were all pretty great. I managed to beat the level! :) I would consider making the shark hit boxes a bit smaller, as sometimes I died but it didn't look like I actually hit them. Good entry. :)
Very interesting entry, nice job.
Neat game! Had a nice creepy feel. Great audio, too. The butcher shop had the best music!
Neat choice of mechanic, and nice graphics. I found the jam version controls really hard to use, but the game seems pretty fun. Downloading the post-jam version for later :)
I lasted 3:41! The audio and graphics were fantastic. I hope you finish implementing the rest of the features of your game. The WASD defenses felt a bit arbitrary after a while, as I got a little button-mashy. Still very fun, and the music was great. Nice work.
This is pretty awesome. A couple things kept me from totally loving it. They are just small balance things though. For example, the game can sort of deadlock where I can't produce more stuff, and don't have stuff to sell first person in the line, and can't afford more storage space to build the stuff they want. I only mention this because I think with these things tweaked out, this game would be really a lot of fun. I hope you keep working on it, and release a full game on PC or iPad or something like that. Loved the music as well. Great job all around :)
I tried a few times, but couldn't get consistent audio to play. The game was interesting, but could perhaps use some more input from the player. The bird artwork was very nice.
Thanks, samooJAM!
Thanks thenmal. I struggled with correct length for each leg. 5 minutes seemed a bit too long, but less than that seemed too short. Something for the post compo version! :)
Thanks, vogon101 :)
Thanks for the heads up, bob_fish. I will add that to my list of post-compo things to fix. Thanks for playing! :)
Thanks for playing, and your insight, Lafie. I really wanted to get the environment textured, but had no time left. Something for post-compo, to really round out the look and feel :)
Thanks, jhrrsn! (also I did play your fixed version, nice work! See comments on your game page)
Thanks for playing, xdegtyarev! :)
Thanks a lot, ElStevo! :)
thanks, MintArcade!
Thank you, carrier_signal :)
Thanks for playing, praporomsk. I've now added a post compo version that allows you to adjust the mouse sensitivity a bit. I'm happy to hear you finished all 3 legs of the journey :)
Thanks, ChuiGum!
Thanks, Boodog!
Thanks, ccglp :)
Thanks DonovanWu, elefantopia, and Sestren :) Sorry I didn't see these comments earlier. Thanks for playing!
Interesting choice for the compo, definitely not enough adventure games entered. Some mouse hover hints to show what is clickable would be helpful. I did manage to finish the game, nice ending.
Interesting idea! I found the game SUPER hard, but it was rewarding each time I got a bit further. Great idea having changeable color palettes.
I found the controls to be super twitchy, but managed to beat the first couple levels. Some of the blocks were placed in such a way that I could not see where I was landing, as I had to jump over the top of the screen. The music was charming, and I enjoyed the silhouette backdrops. Nice job.
Bummer, Love cannot create canvas because of my OpenGL implementation :( I am running win7 64 bit with an intel graphics card
Good to see Potato making an appearance. The puzzles were well crafted and very challenging. Nice work :)
105.89s...is that good? :) This is visually interesting, reminds me of chemistry and molecules and things. I hope you flesh out the idea some more.
Nice use of puzzles and the theme. I found the margins a bit tight for things, like the careful planning level. I knew what I had to do, but repeating steps 1 to n-1 made it feel cumbersome at times. Great entry overall, nice work :)
Pretty interesting game. I liked the use of time travel as a tie-in to the theme. I got pretty far, but then got stuck by the detector, and couldn't figure a way out of it. Nice work :)
Interesting entry! It ran pretty poorly on my ancient laptop, but it was enjoyable. I was a bit confused by the manufacturing system, but the atmosphere was cool. I enjoyed the fractals/introduction a lot.
Really neat concept, however, having to click the left mouse to start always fires a bullet or two and hits blocks, causing other blocks to become red. Is that intentional? Otherwise, had a fun time with the game. The music was cool, too. Nice work :)
Loved the music. I found the ship movement very cumbersome, as it took so long to move around. This is a cool concept though! :)
This sort of reminds me of Planets:TEOS, which was a great old space trading game. I had a hard time docking with other stations. I like the HUD with the various meters and controls, and TVC indicator. Nice work :)
This was a lot of fast paced crazy fun to play. On level 3, the 2nd hot key would work to select the powerup but I couldnt deploy it or switch back to the 1st power up, so I kept losing. Overall very solid entry, good work! :)
I have no idea what I just played, but it was pretty great. Pretty well rounded and interesting. Outstanding artwork, as usual sir :)
Pretty cool idea. Parallel stealth. It's actually really tricky! At first, I wasn't sure where the end of the levels were, as the first level has the guards over top of them. Perhaps a tutorial level showing where to go, then introduce stealth? In any case, this was pretty fun. Nice work for your first ever LD entry! :)
Great entry, love that music. My high score is 170! :D Nice work.
Zombie sounds were pretty cool, and the countdown timer "clack" was creepy.
It's great that you included a story and NPCs. Something we don't see enough of in LD entries I think. I found the controls a bit sticky (only one direction at a time). Good work overall.
I really enjoyed the graphical style of this game. I found the police/red jeeps a bit too hard in the later stages because they were so magnetic, and once they saw you there was no way to get away really. Some kind of "cop radar" would make this a little more forgiving I think. The music was great also. Nice work overall! :)
This game is super hard! I kept getting my butt handed to me. Interesting interpretation of the theme. I liked that there were two firing modes.
Neat entry! Like sokoban, but more futuristic and puzzly. I got stuck and could not restart the game, but i looks like this has been addressed in the post-compo version. One thing that would be cool is if I could just use keyboard keys to restart and go to next level. Good work :)
I definitely let out an audible "nooooo" when the game said there were no actual levels. The tutorial was pretty neat. I hope you are going to make more levels for this and release a more complete game. Good work :)
Pretty fun game, I must say. I managed to get stuck on level 5. I feel like I am missing something, but I cannot manage to beat it (I tried so many times!) :) This might make a cool mobile game.
Super cool entry! I played for a while, and got up to 605 Mexican residents. However, I think there was a bug or something because the American residents capped out at 46. It was really neat to play in fast forward and see everyone swarm to their destination. I would have liked to see some kind of constraint on building though, as I could just build as much as I wanted all the time, so there didn't seem to be a downside to doing things wrong or a benefit for doing them right. In any case, I had fun playing your game. Good work! :)
@honestcritic that is correct. A definite balance issue I think. I wanted to make the illness/injury more randomized and not 100% of the workers, but ran out of tuning time. Thanks for playing!
@BitOfGold thanks for your feedback. Are you able to quit via the "Give Up" button, then exit button on the main menu? Thanks for playing! :)
Thanks a lot for playing, nintendoeats :)
Cool! Thanks for playing, magmaCrab!
@jahmaican totally fair...haha, the graphics were the last thing I did on Sunday afternoon. I am glad you liked the complexity. Thanks for playing! :)
Thanks, ninjascript!
Thanks for playing, DeathPidgeon :) I need to work on the balance a bit more, but that was the idea. Perhaps too ambitious an idea for a 48 hour game though.
Thanks for playing, OinkIguana! :) I have made a more explanatory post-compo version (linked above in the entry listing) if you are interested in giving it another go.
Thanks for playing, n42k. You are correct, I did not have time to add sounds unfortunately. Glad you enjoyed the game!
Thanks for your feedback and for playing, Piscythe! :)
Thanks for playing, rjhelms! :)
Thanks, KingBolonzo :)
I've made a note about the font. It was definitely sub-optimal, especially for darker colors. Thanks for playing, elefantopia! :)
There may be hope indeed. Maybe. Thanks for playing, vividhelix! :)
Unfortunately, this crashes for me as soon as I open the executable. Windows 7 64-bit. Might have to do with intel graphics card? It's a fairly crumby laptop.
Really great, polished entry. I presume this will be landing on mobile at some point. My best score is 32 so far, but I reckon I'll be returning to this later.
Very novel concept! I liked the zooming in on the games and that they were somewhat different. I was only playing was one player, so the multiplayer aspects may have been lost on me. Nice job :)
Cannot run the game :(

Very well done! I think when the unicylclist falls, it would add a lot of "feel" to have a crowd boo or gasp in horror. Likewise, some cheering in addition to the win music would add a lot I think. One nitpick is I wish the restart level curtain transition was a tad quicker. I want to get back to retrying immediately :D Well done overall!
Interesting take on the theme. I managed to win the game. I liked the camera battery charging UI and pause between pictures.
Impressive that you got a networked play component done in 2 days. The gameplay was pretty simple, but fun.
"RPGVXAce RTP is required to run this game" :(
Is this something I can download? Or do I need to have a runtime installed or something?
I don't have a web cam :(
Very interesting entry. The typing and darkness were really effective. Great interpretation of the theme.
Hah, i liked this game a lot. At first i had a hard time seeing who I was and who I was passing to. Once I got that, it was clear what I had to do. Throw some sounds on this and you're golden. Lovely pixels, also.
I like the concept of the single screen vs. battle play. I did find the game felt sluggish (animations and movements felt slow). They were well done though. I hope you develop this further, it seems if it were a bit snappier it would be more fun. Good work!
This is really good! I love the expressions on the snowman's face. The juggling felt very tight, and hard, just like real life. I could only get up to 5 or 6 in the tutorial, but alas I am no good at juggling with real stuff either. Nicely done.
I found the controls were a bit hard, as i was trying to steer the car relative to its front, rather than "move" it absolutely. Great game though, love the pixel-ey goodness. Solid entry as always :)
The music was pretty cool. I managed to beat a couple rounds. However, on entering round 3, each time I selected cards, it would just auto win the round. I was fiddling with it, and looked down and saw I was in round 10! Not sure what happened there.
Hah, what a weird game! :) Nice job.
I don't know what I just played, but I think I had fun. Neat concept of the game within a game. That long necked fellow is creepy. I like the music. Would play again.
I really wanted to finish the story, but the hit boxes were too unforgiving. Had to get too close to use sword, and the slidey movement meant I ran into things as I was hitting them with the sword, which was really frustrating :( I did manage to get to the second part of the second level though. I also like the music.
Neat idea. I wish the game was more complete/finish-able though. I hope you finish the bits you have left and re-release it. This could be very fun with 2 players.
The graphics are neat. I found it hard to get a hold of the "tuning" mechanism, and died a lot.
Wow, great job! There was one bug (heh.) where if I clicked to shoot my web and missed, the web would go on a 90 or 45 degree random angle, rather than where I clicked. However, the rest of the game is so fun and great I can deal. One thing that would be neat is a more obvious "Your score was X" before showing high scores. Overall a really well done game! :)
17 seconds! GOOOOOOAAAAAAL! Super awesome entry. One of my favourites so far. Very novel concept! Well done! :)
Very nice work! I have only found the first two more obvious endings, but will be playing more of this. I really enjoy the music, and pixel art style.
Very neat and unusual idea. I did not manage to complete the maze, but this is really cool.
Very good for a first entry! It was very clicky, and I found the pace of upgrades, etc. to be a bit slow. However, since turrets are not yet working, perhaps that would change. Might I suggest including a few different snowball sounds and playing a random one each time you throw? This would make the "grind" of the throwing feel more natural and less repetitive. Congrats on finishing your first LD game!
Pretty cool idea! I found there were some clipping issues with the little screen. I imagine some camera culling filter fixes would help here. I like the concept a lot. I beat the game in about 4 minutes, fun!
Really pretty fun for a long time. It gets really hard after a while. I think less repetitive music would be better. Good job overall.
I liked the mood of the game. I was not sure where to go exactly, so I think I went everywhere, but didn't see a way to complete a task. The double jumping was really hard to do, which was a bit frustrating.
Very colorful! :)
Took me a sec to figure out how to play. The notes about controls on the side of the game board should probably be higher contrast (brown on brownish right now). Once I died, there didn't seem to be an option to restart. Interesting take on the theme. I liked how the snow got absorbed, revealing the grass :)
Love the pixelated artwork. The game was pretty fun for a while. Some sounds would really enhance it I bet. Nice entry.
I like the concept. I found the block color change times to be a little too long though. It made the game pace feel drawn out, rather than snappy and fun.
Graphics were nice, and I like the concept. However, I could not get any of the UI things to work (crafting, etc.) I also could not quit the game using the escape key. Had to Alt+F4 it. I hope you develop this more fully. Nice work so far!
I loved the low-poly graphics. I found the controls hard to use a bit, and I didn't really understand what was going on with my resources. This did satisfy a certain "pew pew" need though. :)
I really liked the graphical style. The controls felt a little sluggish, but I did manage to score some goals :) Nice music as well. Good work.
Thank you to everyone for playing, and for your comments and ratings! :)
Pretty cool idea, and I love those pixels. I think it would be better perhaps to call out "round over" a bit more clearly. Also, perhaps randomize the controls that need help a little more. It felt sequential to me. Neat idea, good take on the theme. I like the variety of controls. Nice work.
Very nice graphics! The backgrounds were especially nice. Felt very space-ey. I found the pace at which the drop ship could move to be a bit sluggish. It made the return trips a bit tedious. Nice touch with the opening text. Very funny :)
Fun game! I scored 3750, but it took me a good 10 tries! - good feel, ice walking, fun game. the penguin poop was ridiculous! hah.
Excellent audio and graphics. I loved all the switches and stuff. One thing I found is that the windows that came up with the rocker/toggle switches closed to fast after the last switch was thrown. It would be neat if the last switch clicked the same as the others and there was a brief pause. I really enjoyed the screen shake and radio chatter effects. The mission itself was a bit misleading, as I thought once I reached near the red planet I would have to press the other buttons and do some other sequence of things. But I made it to the end, and it was pretty cool. Intermediate events requiring additional action (with radio chatter) would add a lot here I think. Overall excellent entry, very nice look and feel. Good work!
Super moody and kind of creepy, and very neat concept! I got so far, but the last brown morphing stair ramp thing did me in. I got 3 or 4 dream catchers, and saw that blue/white light shaft but couldn't get up on the top to drop in (i presume that was the goal). Nice work! :)
This was a really cool take on the theme. I found the controls would have been better if I could blend the mouse and the controller. I actually put the controller on the floor and spun the lathe with my foot. I really wanted to use mouse to make the carving action into the blank object though. Using the arrows was cumbersome. Great artwork and music, and very neat entry!
I too suffer from the "actually just a black screen" issue. Running GTX 970 on win 7 if that helps.
FYI, the windows download doesn't have the _Data folder included, so the game won't run! :( This looks cool.
Got the web build working, and played through the game. Cool take on the theme, not too often do you see horror games in a ludum dare! :) Good mood and creepy factor. Love the chalkboards/messages. I've never been so concerned if a potted plant was considered a piece of furniture.
This is pretty outstanding! I ran into some trouble after mis-clicking and reloading, where the double jump test wouldn't work again for me. Other than that, this game is really great. I hope you make something further with this engine. Well done!
Very solid prototype! It was fun and felt cool running around, jumping, and shooting green goo at the little baddies. The hair/grass/etc movement looked great.
Very fun! I really enjoy the sound effects and pixel look. Nice use of color as the main mechanic.
The artwork in this game was terrific. I found the pacing and dialog/movement speed to be a bit frustrating, but the puzzles were fun. Extra points for the Al Bundy for president sign.
I was doing fine then rebel LeBron James came in and cleaned house. Making a game with a complex rules set is not an easy task, so congratulations on making a game like this. The music was nice.
Pretty fun demo - I got 13M max air! Controls are a bit hard to use for precise moves (e.g. camera didn't really follow the player so some angles were hard to see). If this was expanded into a sort of cyber tony hawk, with gamepad support and grinding, that'd be awesome. I really enjoy the neon-future visuals :D
Oh snap, just realized the gamepad works. Nice!
This seemed impossibly hard for me. The mouse dragging was really slow, and I could only manage to get an elbow in the air before being hilariously smushed by the moving shape wall. Funny take on the theme :)
Hah - funny entry. Neat use of the two shape shifting modes. Picking up cars and blowing them up is more fun than I would have expected. Poor president.
FYI, the windows build contains the Mac/OSX folder, not the _Data folder, so the game wont run on windows 7 :(
The music is so great! I got ~26,000 score and a Silver, unfortunately not high enough for the scoreboard though. This was fun, nice work! :)
Kind of felt like missile defense in a way, as the paths had to match the projected movement of the green rectangle monster things. I played for a while, reloaded the planes, and killed a lot of green boxes. It wasn't clear when the next wave would happen, or if I could win. Pretty fun to control the planes with paths though. More polish would probably result in a neat little game!
This controlled well, and was fun to play. I found it a bit annoying that the next car and time to shapeshift seemed random and was a bit punishing as a result. The drifing felt nice, and the audio was effective.
Aha, very sneaky. I almost gave up on the 2nd level, but took another try and got it. I love the funny eyes placed onto the various objects. Good use of the theme, and very nice models. Nice work :)
Nice job, though the non-VR version is pretty hard in a couple spots due to lack of camera control. I finished in 9:56 and was happy I got under 10 mins. Timer was a good idea to add some tension for the player to challenge themselves. I liked the use of the two different shapes/abilities. Some of the jump/morph/grab/morph combos were satisfying to get! :)
Fun game! I really like the visual style. I wasn't totally clear on what the green shape changing did for my advantage, but then it made my guns faster and spread more. The audio feels nice and punchy too. Good work! :)
Well that was really weird and kind of gross! haha. Poor kitty. Crawling through that cat was super gross, but gave me super jumping legs. Huzzah!
The graphics were outstanding. I found the controls to be hard to figure out at first, but then realized you can't click to move when a "shapeshift" tool is active. Aside from some weird object physics issues, the puzzles were nicely done. Impressive effort for a 48 hour compo :)
Pretty fun game. I am terrible at the card bit! haha. I like the strategy of the cards though, it makes the game have more depth. The look and feel is pleasant and enjoyable. Nice work :)
The music was so good! :) Reminded me of Sonic or jazz jackrabbit or something. Very chill. I found I had depth perception problems a little, which made it hard to tell where my position was relative to the "lane" the barrels and chickens were in. The visual style and artwork are lovely. Also, nice touch with the "good bad ugly" name for the graphics settings :) Nice work!
This game looks and sounds great! I found it hard at first to tell what the exact sort point was for the middle part, meaning I'd leave the door open too long and miss the next part of recycling. But I got it soon enough, and was in the groove. I liked this game. It's the guitar hero of recycling sorting station simulations :)
The drifting felt really nice. I think better controls (WASD + 1234 is hard to do at the same time), and non-sequential shapes (not 1234 in order) would make this more fun to play. The concept of having to change modes to clear goals while drifting is a solid one I think. With some more polish this could be a pretty fun thing to play I think! :)
Wow, great stuff. The super contrasted red/blue/black was tight. And the first person sword movements were great. I would play the heck out of a more polished but equally stylized version of this game.
What a lovely entry. I enjoyed the sound effects. Fun puzzles and game. Nice work :)
Interesting choice in graphics and weird morphy alice in wonderland feeling models. I think it made me feel a bit motion sick, but it was enjoyable. Not sure if I was supposed to be able to get up the stairs or not, but I couldn't find a way. I hope this means you're working on more/other atypically styled first person things. :)
This was really moody and creepy and mostly great. I found it a little punishing to restart every time, especially with seemingly randomly generated levels (sometimes morphy bad guy boxes were in different places). I managed to get the key, but couldn't get back through to open the locked door (a door turned into a blob and killed me). Cool entry overall! :)
This was a cool entry. I enjoyed the mood in the water, and the day/night cycle was a nice touch. I got to level up my skills a bunch and it was cool to just swim around and be a fish. When I got eaten by a bigger fish, I didn't die, but also could no longer eat the blocks and eventually lost vitality and the game ended. Not sure if that's a bug or not. I love the voxels, and the minimal audio added to the mood a lot.
This is really fun! I got 103m :D I found the camera movement a bit rigid, perhaps some Lerping would help soften it a bit. Nice work!
Hah, very funny game. The larger levels got pretty grindy, but it was fun to stack the Bros and get the dollar. Nice entry :)
I too can only get to the title screen :(
I really liked the audio and visual style. The menus are great too. It was a fun discovery that I could make the bat fly up, but if I shifted back into the vampire, I fell.
Best Vampire/Bat Fighting game I've ever played :)
I really liked the portal-esqeue feel here. There's a lot of potential in the idea, but the slow/long walks and super punishing restart is a bummer. That said, I restarted 4 times, and got to what I think is the last puzzle (that red round button). However, after trying to get it for a while, I finally physics-glitched my little pink buddy out of the world, and gave up. One tip regarding player actions: ensure that things like scale changes and turret rotations are based on elapsed real seconds, rather than (i presume) Update() calls, as I had a heck of a time getting the turret to aim precisely, or objects to scale precisely (always over shot a bunch and had to make the tiniest clicks to get accurate or small changes. All this said, this game made me want to slog through the frustrating parts and keep going, so that says something good about it :)
@FenyesJ Thanks :)
@RealityCheck Thanks for your feedback. I definitely had a "get work assignment when clock in" GUI in mind, but ran out of time. I wanted to get some better looking models in there too, like marshmallows that looked like marshmallows, etc. but alas it was too late. Good point about colouring the machines though. That would have been super quick and effective.
Thanks for playing! :)
@imit thanks! :)
@monkeybit29, @iSasFTW, @RyanMan56: Thanks for playing and for your feedback!
@nintendoeats Yes, kind of. It's intended to accurately simulate a manufacturing job, which to be sure, can be very tedious. However, my goal was to allow the player to discover the "zen" of manufacturing work (optimize your process, be as efficient in your movements as possible, etc.). Thanks for playing!
@YRasin That's great to hear. Those monsters need their marshmallow! Thanks for playing!
@cheesewhiz999 Yes, I think I kind of missed the mark on the theme. I intended Shapes to be more heavily integrated with the parts and widgets, but alas ran out of time, so they are all just still "debug cubes" :\ Thanks for playing!
@lightsoda A second job, yes, but the pay here is terrible, haha. The very end is 5 shifts deep, to simulate the work week. It's for only the most dedicated and grizzled manufacturing simulationeer. Thanks for playing!
@bigmangames Yay, glad to hear it. Thanks for playing :)
@Pantelis Petsopoulos thanks for playing :)
@tomdeal You are the first to find that shift ending I think - nice work! I'm glad you liked it, thanks for playing (and for crawling into the incinerator! haha)
@pogo Thanks for your feedback, and thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it. And I totally agree about the player controller and hit boxes for the interactions. They need some tweaking.
@aidanmarkham thanks for playing, and for your feedback :)
@medidog I am happy to hear you did 3 shifts! If I ever start a real monster marshmallow factory, you're hired! Thanks for playing! :)
@ZpeedTube Yay, glad to hear you got no penalties. Nice work, thanks for playing!
@Ken Ichi Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it :)
I really enjoyed the audio in this game. I found myself unsure where the meaningful bounds of the woods were, so I just walked through the trees until I left the play area. It would be helpful to supplement the super dense trees with an actual invisible wall so the player doesn't wander way off course. At the end, I wasn't sure if the white screen was the end of the game or not, as there was a slight period of silence before the game returned to main menu. Overall, the game was serene and pleasant. I also enjoyed the main characters walking animation cycle.
Very original idea! big way skydiving is cool, and it's neat to see an LD game about it. I found the time between formations a bit shorter than I would have liked, resulting in an abysmal score. But I still had fun! You should make a 4-way blocks version of this :D
Wow, cool idea. I enjoyed running as the bird, and sort of gliding start into flying from hillsides. With some smoother "gain altitude"/"flap" motion, this could really be a neat thing to just play for relaxation. Neat! :)
I couldn't really get the game to do anything except for let me run around a bit. Shooting either the baddies or the goodies had no effect. The voxels looked cool, and I liked the music.
I really liked this game. There are similar ones submitted in the compo with this mechanic, but yours is better. I liked the music, and was actually moving slightly to make the water jug dance while it was being filled up. Nice work! :)
This game has some of the best graphics I've seen for this ludum dare. I wasn't totally clear if there was an end game or not, but had some fun trying to min/max my shape shifting distance and collect the atoms. :)
The graphics and music were really good. I found the pace of the movement between 2D and 3D shift too sudden, and always failed to pull up in time. I think a slower transition zone or more advanced "shift coming" warning could make this more approachable. Very cool idea!
I really liked the super-pixelated look. I found the mouse sensitivity really high. Also, there's no collider on the end of the hallway, so I fell down and out of the world. The 2nd customer didn't get me anything to smash :( Your take on the theme is interesting, and the musical tune is fun! :)
Very neat idea here. I found the pace of the tutorial helpful. However, once it ended, things spawned in the world a bit too fast. Sometimes, the "capture" logic seemed to break, as I surrounded buildings but they didn't get captured. I enjoyed the music and minimalist visual style.
A fellow manufacturing sim kind of thing! Yay :D Your punch card slot is waht I wanted to make if I didnt run out of time. This was fun, and the shape matching was impressive. Level 1-2 are easy and fun. Level 10 is SUPER HARD, and also fun. Watching the blocks smash into bits is its own reward. Nice work :)
