LD21 — Escape

Abigail's Descent by Cosmologicon 2011-08-27T00:51:00

Thank you for --cheat I really got stuck near the end.

I wish the dialog on level 3 had been as funny as on level 2, but that is a small complaint.

The rotating tower, and the way Abigail drifts as she falls are both really pleasing.

I Predict a Riot by cptalbertwesker 2011-08-25T19:09:00

I couldn't figure out any controls. Clicking the mouse did nothing, and I could not find any keyboard keys that did anything.

Block Faker by droqen 2011-08-25T19:36:00

This is a really nifty varian of sokoban, and I enjoyed playing it. I did escape... at least I think I did. They way you talk about "the theme is here, find it" makes me think maybe you had some other secret kind of escape in mind, and you had me superstitiously pressing ESC instead of SPACE when I advanced levels. Also I was totally confused by the four different versions. Still, I enjoyed it. Good job!

OMFG Aliens! by Gaeel 2011-08-23T20:17:00

I can't figure out how to compile this on my 32-bit ubuntu 10.10 box. I can see that I have to install libsfml-dev but I seem to be missing something else.

Escape of the AMAZING TRIANGLE by zdanielz 2011-08-29T03:31:00

This is pretty good! I enjoyed it.

Minor complaint: I almost didn't play past the first level. I mistakenly assumed that I had to click to advance screens, so I wasted my node, but didn't realize why it wouldn't let me play. Even after I understood what happened, I still accidentally clicked when moving between levels more than once, and had to press R to restart the level.

I wished for more levels, because the later levels were increasingly more fun.

Escape Cod by Tom 7 2011-08-25T02:04:00

This is the best recursive fish pinball game I have ever played. I wished for a less random game mechanic, and I hated that damn purple angler, but I enjoyed this very much anyway. Loved the theme song!

Escape of the Psychic Trash Robot by snesgaard 2011-08-23T04:41:00

I couldn't get this game to run on my 32-bit Ubuntu 10.10 box.

$ ./"Escape of The Psychic Trash Robot"
bash: ./Escape of The Psychic Trash Robot: cannot execute binary file

I installed libdevil1c2 and libglfw2 (couldn't find libglfw)

I tried to compile from source, but couldn't figure out which -dev packages I needed. I got libglfw-dev and glutg3-dev but I am not sure what package has IL/il.h

james@rhinoctopus:~/misc/games/ludumdare/2011/RobotSrc$ gcc main.cppIn file included from main.cpp:1:
Core/GraphicsCore.hpp:20: fatal error: IL/il.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.

A tale about life, death and a looser. by deepnight 2011-08-23T04:28:00

Your pixels are fantastic. This game made me laugh out loud, but it also made me sad.

Minor complaint: I had to keep clicking with the mouse to get it to accept my keypresses

Metal Sphere Solid by matthias_zarzecki 2011-09-10T19:16:00

Incrediball?

Tall Butt by Luthwyhn 2011-08-29T04:01:00

Nice! You say the AI was weak, but It was better than me :)

F11 to shrink the screen was buggy. it shrank, but then the next mouse click would cause a crash.

I Think In A Minute Or So I Will Explode by Hangedman 2011-08-25T23:38:00

The controls and jumping physics were deliciously smooth. A nice change from all the clunky platformers I have seen in this contest so far :)

Escape the Wolf: OHR by James Paige 2011-09-01T16:01:00

Yes, Ippa, I promise it is possible to escape. With luck and skill you can even do it in under 1 minute on hard mode. Here are some hints:

<SPOILERS>

The cabin location is random, but you will never find it by running just one direction in a straight line from your starting point.

Your footprints (and the footprints of the wolf) are permanent, so you can use them to eliminate areas you have already explored.

The forest is not endless, it wraps.

Haunted Escape by cjke.7777 2011-08-24T19:02:00

Ah-Yhoogly-boogly-boo-hoo-hoo! Boo-hoo-glee-ee, What-are-you? What are you?

Dragon's Bloodmoney by neosam 2011-08-25T03:22:00

The sidescrollering was pretty lackluster, but the story panels made me laugh with tears of joy

Escape from Space Cannibal by ondrew 2011-08-23T19:57:00

Nicely animated-- but there wasn't a whole lot else to it.

Bountyhunted! by Hempuli 2011-08-29T04:10:00

This is really cool!

One bug report: the wasd keys often get stuck in one direction and you have to tap them to unstick it.

Office Escape by PaulWagener 2011-08-25T02:13:00

Pretty nice-- but I never could figure out how to get past the Presenter. That's probably because I suck, not a game flaw ;

Magiscape by Ingon 2011-08-24T19:09:00

Trying to play on Linux. I open with the Sun Java 6 runtime, and I get the title screen, and I can click "Start". Then I see the screen saying it is an LD21 game. Then I click and it just closes.

Escape from Room 32 by djanatyn 2011-08-25T02:42:00

This is not bad. You really gotta get a windows version up there so people who don't know how to git clone https://github.com/djanatyn/ld21.git and apt-get install pygame can try it.

Get to the Choppah!!! by Beerman 2011-08-25T02:26:00

Would you mind posting a Windows exe version of this? The standalone Unity player for Windows works on Linux with wine, but as far as I can tell there is no way to make the unity web player work on linux

Mate Escape (LD) by alexandervrs 2011-08-25T03:03:00

For a game that was all about running very fast, it was rather slow-paced. Gameplay mainly boiled down to pressing down or space at the right time and patiently waiting for the next rollerskates.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed the artwork, and the style. The tie flapping in the air cracks me up.

escape.swf by sstrandberg 2011-08-25T02:30:00

If your goal was to creep me out, mission accomplished

Smash Shove Solve by wally2069 2011-08-25T23:31:00

Yay for sokoban that is so much more than sokoban. Clever puzzles.

You should really show the controls on-screen in the game. I didn't read the readme first, so I discovered that spacebar skips any level long before I discovered that I had to press 1,2,3,4 to switch characters.

Abscond by Hanoran 2011-09-10T20:42:00

the gameplay was simple, but I really enjoyed it

Beyond the Fourth Wall by Gjarble 2011-08-23T04:23:00

Even though the graphics were obviously rushed, they still had nice style. This works really well. I wish there were more screens to escape from.

Cube Collapse by Martin Fasterholdt 2011-08-23T20:10:00

Could you post a non-web-player version of this? Based on other Unity games I have seen in this competition, the Unity web plugin cannot be installed on Linux, but a standalone Windows Unity game works fine on Linux using wine.

ZOMBEE FLOOD by keenblaze 2011-08-29T03:47:00

The crowd lettering was really cool. Unfortunately There wasn't enough gameplay to satisfy me.

Virtual School 2 by GozerGomez 2011-08-23T19:05:00

Ending 1 of 3? The Cake is a lie! ಠ_ಠ

But this was funny and fun anyway

The Labyrinth by Master K 2011-09-13T03:35:00

For anybody frustrated by how hard it is to die, notice that you can save your progress anywhere. That makes it much easier!

pblob by nr505 2011-08-23T04:22:00

I got stuck on one of the later levels, but I really liked it. Clever!

BATHOS by johanp 2011-08-23T04:25:00

Why can't I give you more than 5 stars for "Theme"? You deserve ALL OF THE STARS!

I came SO close to ragequitting without figuring it out

LD22 — Alone

Last breath by deepnight 2011-12-19T05:46:00

The graphics and mood were gorgeous! I loved the concept, but I found the gameplay difficulty pretty frustrating.

The Snubbing of the Squid by James Paige 2011-12-25T01:30:00

summaky:, no the PNG files only get loaded and converted once. The slowness comes from somewhere else. I used cProfile and the runsnakerun tool to remove speed bottlenecks, but blitting surfaces with alpha without hardware acceleration of any kind is just going to be dog slow no matter what :)

Sorry about the frustrating controls. In retrospect, I wish I had restricted movement to 1-tile units instead of free movement.

Thank you all for playing! :)

The Snubbing of the Squid by James Paige 2011-12-28T23:40:00

The red guy is a red herring. I should have left him out. The goal is to follow the one-eyed ghosts. yes, I should have made that clear in the game, but I didn't :)

Incomitat by Hempuli 2011-12-19T18:09:00

Tasty blue mushrooms!

Leave Me Alone by strega 2011-12-19T05:48:00

I loved the appear animation for the big demons. Some of the difficult platform jumping made me frown.

Abandoned by Bryanwoot 2011-12-19T17:43:00

Yay for your first complete game! :)

Iron Santa (world battle) by Dmitri Z 2011-12-19T05:40:00

You didn't briiiiine me!

Alone With a Phone by waynebeam 2011-12-19T22:52:00

In spite of the detailed instructions, I don't think I ever understood how to play :(
