Interesting concept, you already noted level 1 was lagging , which was the same for me.
The delay on the first level is way too long. Just jump right into explaining things and people will get the hang of it. Otherwise a great job.
Unfortunately the only reason the delay was so long was because of the lag, otherwise it would have been as quick as the other levels, thanks for the advice though, I'm just used to games giving me the instruction in one lump then throwing you in, and getting confused, thought I'd pace it out. I'll just stick to instruction pages for the next LD :)
I couldn't figure out any controls. Clicking the mouse did nothing, and I could not find any keyboard keys that did anything.
The tutorial limits what you can do at the start, it tells you how to play.
Interesting concept which fits the theme as well... But to work it as a game you'd have to make it bit more complicated or provide very good levels and probably use some more goals then escaping (like distracting guards continuously while one escaped convict goes to open doors for others etc..)
The demo was agonizingly slow, but the rest of the game was much better. You should really look into that! Also, my general strategy was just to plant 1 peaceful protest and win, which seemed to work fine for me. Maybe you could make the gameplay more complex somehow?
