LD24 — Evolution

Dawn of Dimension by jplur 2012-08-29T00:06:00

Pretty impressive to have a shared world. the controls were a little floaty, but I think that added to the quirky style and tileset. Great job on this one, curious to see how the world turns out after the end of judging!

Evolutionator! by CataclysmicKnight 2012-08-28T00:36:00

Pretty solid game with nice polish. The controls were pretty frustrating at first. So used to moving with WASD I kept shooting away from enemies instead of at them!

Deal with It by midgard 2012-08-28T03:02:00

Cool game, reminds me of Super Meat Boy. Nice style on the pixel graphics. Game definitly was hard - I though the controls made it tough. I think arrows to move + space to jump would be easier to control. Nice work! ;)

EvoGoop by pirate-rob 2012-08-30T16:16:00

Had some trouble figuring this one out. couldn't tell if Z or X were working to eat / attack. Tried to evolve but couldn't tell what were the requirements for each evolution (points, yellow bar, etc?)

Ancient Ruins by CappaGames 2012-08-29T02:48:00

Pretty solid shooter. I liked the growing plant monster the best, cool pixel art style. Would have liked to have more indication I was shooting the boss and if I got damaged. Had to glance over to the health numbers to tell. Also, couldn't really tell what the various powerups did. Nice work on this one though, since its XNA you should polish it up and release it on XBox!

Embryotic by reverso13 2012-08-30T01:32:00

Had a laugh with the KFC buckets. The collision seemed a bit off, and when you clicked a nutrient it was on the back of the mouse, which felt awkward to drag. The chick gradually growing looked cool though!

Evolution Defense by franklyn 2012-08-28T03:30:00

Nice little tower defense style game you have. Pretty well balanced gameplay, was able to keep up with the waves via upgrades. I did have to mute the sound since it was pretty loud on my speakers/headphones. Great job!

Cubevo by NostraDamon 2012-08-28T02:58:00

Well done game. Reminded me almost of a reverse Minecraft, where you are building the trees, etc instead of chopping them down. I did think getting stuck in tree-mazes got a little frustrating. Is it possible to jump the boxes? couldn't figure that out.

LimiT by Sakuyan 2012-08-28T03:22:00

Really great work, love the fluid animations. At first I was a little confused by the small screen, but love how the view area opened up as the player evolved. Reminded me almost of Katamari Damaci, constantly growing till you consume the universe. Well done!

Paradigm Shift by LuizHGMonclar 2012-08-28T03:09:00

Nice work here, really enjoyed the combination of text and gameplay to communicate the story, and show transformation. Would love to see the story go further with this same style!

Homes Through Time! by Materie 2012-08-28T23:52:00

Hey, good job for submitting. I think your art style and idea have potential. Next time ;)

Treevolution by djacobs7 2012-08-28T00:15:00

Pretty funny and original game you have here. Graphics had a nice indy feel to them. Still haven't figured out how to make humans, but did find some funny combinations ;) The buttons felt a little unresponsive at times, and it was a little tedious waiting for my tree to get destroyed so I could start over. Great game though, good work!

Mutate by JPatrick 2012-08-29T01:54:00

Nice job completing your first LD48. Thought the bullets / gravity were a little slow. Also, after completing a few levels I think the "You have 0 mutations" popped up a bunch of times.

The life of Cat by Amoaeba Junior 2012-08-28T03:39:00

Nice entry - liked the small touches like cat animations, and the triceratops skull in the ground. The music was excellent. Perfect length game as well, great job!

Blocks eating blocks and evolving into more blocks by Peltast 2012-08-30T01:41:00

I like the concept - procedural world, evolving over time. however, I wasn't able to play for more than a few seconds since my life bar kept running out. Tried a few different worlds but every time I died before I could collect more than 2 or 3 other blocks.

BATTLE ARENA PARTY 7! by QualityAssurance 2012-08-29T00:27:00

Really like the concept. Great chiptunes music. Was tough to tell what abilities were being used, or which player won each battle. A stat or battle report screen would be key so each player would know what skills to pick to level up. Overall, nice work on this one. A few tweaks and this could be a classic party game

Robo[R]Evolution by NateNaterson 2012-08-29T02:10:00

Really solid tower defense game. Graphics, sound were very well done. Thought the intro text went on a little long, but liked the style and presentation. Great work on this!

Inu No Ongaeshi by Shmarah 2012-08-29T02:43:00

Wow, definitely the most original game I've played so far. I like how you combined pictures with text, and the story was well written. Actually reminded me a bit of The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Murakami for some reason (stray animals and strange women). Would have liked to have a little bit more control of the dialog/story, but overall was a nice experience. Well done!

The Evolution Of The BlobFish by metaldemon 2012-08-30T16:31:00

Fun to swim around with the fish, though the controls felt a little strange at first (steer with both mouse and keyboard). Also couldn't tell at first if I was hurting/eating the other fish or getting hurt myself. Nice soundtrack.

Panspermia by camdensegal 2012-08-28T03:49:00

Nice, sort of like Angry birds space. Felt the asteroids moved a little slowly, but a nice puzzle game. Great work -

Improv by benderbinary 2012-08-30T01:47:00

Wow, this game is drugged out ;) Definitely had an original style, reminded me a concept album art for a 70 psychadelic band. The platforming gameplay didn't work very well though, and couldn't tell what the objective is. But great work finishing, visual style is great.

IO VUOLE ZEN by Capro 2012-08-28T03:45:00

Pretty funny game you have here. Gonna try to beat the rabbit part again soon ;) Clever stuff

Reckless Abandon by clavicarius 2012-08-29T02:06:00

Great game. Plays solid, art+music are great, original concept. Took me a second to figure out you could attack and throw body parts, but once I did I was hooked. Still trying to beat those high scores though ;)

Kitty Breeder 2012 by turnip 2012-08-28T03:16:00

Nice concept here. Kitties were pretty tough to grab/feed - I guess like real kitties ;) Fun game though!

Grow by Skypeians 2012-08-30T02:15:00

Loved the graphical style and fluid animation. Seeing those bird feed was pretty scary actually. Would love to see this turn into a full game, it has potential.

Colorlies by songman 2012-08-30T16:28:00

Very relaxing and colorful experience. Not so much of a game with an objective, but neat to see how the colors evolve. Great music as well.

No Tap Enis by Nile 2012-08-30T02:11:00

The visual style and controls scheme were certainly interesting.

Lepidopter Attack by dwrensha 2012-08-30T01:28:00

I love entries that incorporate the actual theory of selection over time. Although it was tough to determine how the moths improved. Damage resistance, speed, etc? Neat concept here - maybe add some challenge to the player (must kill in time limit, moths dmg player, ?) and you could be on to something :)

Beetlefield : The Forecast by Benjamin 2012-08-28T23:58:00

Very solid game. Graphics, sound, etc are very well done. It's funny how I found myself rooting for my team even though I had no control - pretty good AI to have the beetles battle it out for so long. Would love to see this game concept expanded where you can buy different traits to build an army and challenge others.

Targeted Evolution by johnfn 2012-08-28T00:07:00

Fun game here!
-I liked the smooth scrolling between, the screens, the space background, pixel artwork
-liked evolving the blocks, the card system was a little confusing - was hard to see what card was selected, etc
-Some of the "dialog" was pretty funny when talking to the wizard.
-Sound was a little obnoxious

Evo Towerwars by Rialgar 2012-08-29T00:16:00

Tower defense gameplay was solid enough, but would have like some more informative graphics on the towers and enemies. Also would be nice to have some variations on the board - since its a perfect grid, there's an optimum placement and the player isn't able to strategize/experiment with placement. Good job with the smooth HTML5 gameplay!

Bioboy by nddrylliog 2012-08-30T16:11:00

Very solid puzzle game. Lots of polish and clever puzzles. I did think some were pretty challenging, and the powerups weren't obvious at first. Nice work!

'The Neon Pink Philosophy' by Zed 2012-08-29T23:41:00

Nice work. At first I thought the voice-over cutscenes went on a little long but grew to like them ;) Gameplay is pretty fun, sometimes felt the bullet collision was a little inaccurate, but overall lots of fun. Great work -

Go Darwin by StabAlarash 2012-08-28T00:21:00

Fun shooter here, nice pixel graphics and sound ;) The various Dodos were pretty funny.

Evolve 'em all by kill0u 2012-08-29T02:26:00

Always impressed with smooth running HTML5 games. I like the graphic design of the game and the art, but thought the bullets were a little small, which made it tough to dodge. Would like to have some sound effects for the bullets, explosions, etc. Overall, nice job though with all the trials you went through to complete ;)

The World Tree by shinD 2012-08-30T16:23:00

I like what you did with sound and particle effects in this game. Has a very unique look. I also liked how it wasn't a standard platform jumper but the player could sort of float around. Nice work on this -

2052 by Mach60KAS 2012-08-28T23:45:00

Nice, an old school text adventure! Great story, love the William Gibson-ish setting. I also really like how the text was presented, in a continually scrolling webpage, instead of through direct hyperlinks. It's a great format for interactive fiction - the reader feels like they are making the story as they go along instead of simply navigating a web page.

One bug I did find - I rewound to "Unlimited Research Works" and hit the ... This pulled up "Long Road Home" which only had "undefined".

Great work on this one, I'm interested to see the other endings to the story :)

Angry Fish by munchor 2012-08-30T01:37:00

Pretty fun with a good bit of challenge once the fish get numerous. I did find one bug: swam to the bottom and died. when I tried to restart, I was automatically dead.

Eatme! by AirRider3 2012-08-29T00:09:00

Nice game, got up to Insane. Reminds me a lot of the game Osmos. Lots of fun, great work -

Save The Memepool by whilefun 2012-08-29T02:01:00

Cool concept you have here, collecting books after an apocalypse. I thought reading the info text was a little tedious since the text window was so small. Funny that TV made you lose "health". Would like to see some gameplay benefit to collecting stuff rather then just healing health. Game ran very smooth though, pixel art was cool. Nice work!

Biods by daydalus 2012-08-27T01:59:00

XNA game - download the zip and run setup.exe to install via Clickonce.

Will be adding a bunch more polish for the jam!

Was lots of fun, my first successful LD48 entry!

Biods by daydalus 2012-08-27T02:06:00

Not sure where I'm supposed to share the source, but here it is: https://bitbucket.org/tdonlan/biods

Biods by daydalus 2012-08-28T14:40:00

Working on getting a silverlight version up and running this evening. Thanks for playing!

Biods by daydalus 2012-08-28T18:23:00

Web version should now be working. Let me know if you have trouble running it (requires Silverlight 5)

Biods by daydalus 2012-08-30T02:16:00

For the silverlight version, have to open up the Silverlight Menu and enable 3D graphical support. I know it sucks, but thats Silverlight for you. Also, the silverlight version wont work on Mac / Linux :(

Dawn by SteelRaven7 2012-08-28T03:55:00

Well done - thought the 2D + 3D style graphics were very unique and stylish. Had some trouble figuring out what to do, but thats the fun of it I suppose. Great work on this one -

Robot Panic by Oliver Simon 2012-08-29T00:23:00

Exploration gameplay was fun. Thought gravity was a little sluggish. The most frustrating thing was getting sent back to the start upon death. Not sure if the piano music "adds" anything to the game. Overall though, nice work on the game.

Death Death Evolution by Adhesion 2012-08-28T23:49:00

Wow, very impressive for an HTML5 game. Great work on the assets (music, animation, pixel art). Great job on this one -

A Conglomerate of Pixels by creative630 2012-08-30T02:03:00

This game is great. Good idea and well executed. Gets addictive. Well done.

LD26 — Minimalism

Undercolor Agents by farmergnome 2013-05-01T02:55:00

Solid shooter, love the style -

DeaN by Sakuyan 2013-04-30T02:30:00

Really great looking game. Love the smooth animation and style of the game world. Nice twist on Infinite Runner style gameplay. I did find one issue - when I played story mode, or game mode and got past ~300, no more enemies would spawn. Other than that, great work!

XYZ by ataxkt 2013-04-30T02:47:00

Really enjoyed this game. The perspective-shifting gameplay reminded me a little of Fez. The art and music really fit the theme well. Great work on this!

Join by Perry 2013-04-30T02:58:00

Really nice original twist on Snake. Love the concept of portals, etc. Gameplay fits the art style perfectly. Great work on this one -

Fantasy RPG #58 by Martze 2013-04-30T02:40:00

NIce work, I can tell you spend a good bit of time on this. Fun homage/satire of old-school RPGS, especially the endless grinding of high-HP enemies ;)

The Darkling Plain by theomnis 2013-04-30T02:12:00

I like the style you have here, and the color theme. thought it was interesting to move around and not worry about shooting. Pretty impressive you got two game modes in there. Would be good to have some indication of which army is winning in campaign mode.

(Follow the) Line by Chman 2013-04-30T02:54:00

Fun mashup of snake/infinite runner. I like the smooth camera style and shifting colors. Nice work -

Amish Brothers by Levi D. Smith 2013-04-29T17:37:00

Love the sound effects and the Old MacDonald song. Some sort of powerups or extra challenge (timer, super sheep, etc) would be fun on the later levels. Nice work!

Minimalism : Find the red Cube by Martin_Monosys 2013-04-30T02:08:00

Interesting game, fits the theme well. Couldn't figure out if finding the path was simply trial and error, or there was some method. Music was great, really set the mood. Nice work -

Dynamite Knight by funkadunkado 2013-04-30T03:04:00

Pretty fun arena shooter. Loved the animation style and the blood spatters. Of course, once the level filled up with blood splatters, was tough to see the bullets and enemies. Would be good to have some indicator of progress in level (num killed, score, timer?) or possibly weapon upgrades. Nice work!

hru by gilmore606 2013-04-30T02:19:00

Really well done game, from the perspective, gameplay, sound effects, ambient music, etc. Loved how a bad bounce is a minor-key sound, a good bounce sounds pleasing. Gameplay did feel a little sluggish at first, but I got used to it and it felt relaxing over time. Nice work on this one!

Ming Imah Lism the Wizard ! by Gustera 2013-04-30T02:24:00

Fun game! The tutorial text and sound effects made me chuckle. Good amount of gameplay as well. One thing was shooting the fireball horizontally, would usually go over the head of smaller enemeis (goblins). Overall, really nice entry!

Canon by sparkleswirl 2013-04-30T02:43:00

Very original, but pretty tough. The collision was't very forgiving so died a ton. I did like the sound effects, how the notes would play a simple melody as you played the level. almost like Guiter-hero style rythm games. Nice work!

Antichromatic by arkeus 2013-04-29T03:34:00

Very impressive for 48 hours! Controls get a little bit of time to get used to, but very fun gameplay -

Vast by FunByJohn 2013-04-30T03:08:00

Excellent game - I really liked the hand drawn art style on the white background. The old-school adventure game quest was great as well. Deciphering the glyphs was a nice tough. Good work!

Colossal Clean-Up by UndergroundPixel 2013-05-01T02:37:00

Fun game, love the pixel art style. Gameplay was a little confusing at first - didn't realize I had to throw away the items to win. Jumping up on the door ledge to throw items away meant that I could walk out of the level pressing -> + X, which was instant game over. Also, the sound cut out second play through. Overall though, great concept and execution for the weekend!

Starvin Stu's Spud Farm by daydalus 2013-04-29T01:34:00

Hey all - this build is in XNA for Windows only :( Hoping to have the port (monogame, jsil) up tomorrow.

Thanks!

Starvin Stu's Spud Farm by daydalus 2013-04-29T14:24:00

Few extra things:
-Green potatos will poison you, and will sell for negative money. You can trash them (lower right basket) or throw them at crows.
-In the font, a zero looks similar to an 8.

-Hope to have HTML5 port up sometime today

Starvin Stu's Spud Farm by daydalus 2013-04-29T17:03:00

Game is now playable on the web - XNA converted to HTML5 via JSIL (http://jsil.org/). Currently sound is disabled, and the Hunger bar isn't showing up. Everything else should work.

Starvin Stu's Spud Farm by daydalus 2013-04-29T19:28:00

Currently crow(s) can't be killed, only scared away.

Starvin Stu's Spud Farm by daydalus 2013-05-01T02:38:00

Newest web version should now have sound! Horay for reading JSIL documentation!

Starvin Stu's Spud Farm by daydalus 2013-05-03T00:23:00

There's no end or win state. Mostly just to see how much money you can make. If you want to challenge yourself, try to get to $200

'moeba by Oliver Simon 2013-04-30T02:32:00

Game has a nice minimalist look. I found controlling the "snake" a bit too sluggish and difficult to collect the balls.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Foul Monster by BPO_Jeff 2015-08-26T04:19:00

Loved the artwork and style to fit the theme, and the gratuitous angry F-bombs. A hungry swearing dragon is always great. He needs a fire attack! I got to level 5? and killed everything but it didn't advance. Other than that, no issues. Nice work, I had fun.

A Bad Wolf King is Hard to Feed by McFunkypants 2015-08-26T04:12:00

Very well done and polished. Love the art style, level design and music - it all worked together very nicely. Controls were a little tough with keyboard + mouse. Lots of the jumps demand fine precision - and the physics was a little slippery. Overall - lots of fun - reminded me of minecraft + mario 64. Great work!

Pissed off Zombie by wdebowicz 2015-08-26T03:43:00

Very fun RTS - was able to flank the soldiers with the zombie hordes to pull off a win. RTS controls were pretty good - would be nice to have more of an indicator of what is selected, maybe panning the mouse on screen edge, rather than right click drag. But overall, great game - very fun. Nice work!

Electro Magnetic Purge by Kuchalu 2015-08-26T03:18:00

Beautiful game - loved seeing the sun get eclipsed by planets, lens flares, and all the different colors of the world. Nice ambient music as well. A few comments - the loading screen / intro was a bit long. Took a minute to find a gun and shoot the enemies. Occasionally flying between planets the camera would flip 180 degrees and I'd be looking back where I came. Flight + walking felt a bit slow, would be nice if the planets had some gravity if you were close enough. Overall, really nice work!

DRUMSTER by SoulGame 2015-08-26T03:52:00

Very impressive rock band drum game! However, I suck at these kind of things ;) But was fun to learn the song as it went along - interesting how you let the song continue until you master it. Overall, very nice work!

Monster System by freaknarf 2015-08-26T02:56:00

Pretty cool pixel art and style, really matches the theme. Jump + monster attacks felt a little weak, wasn't a good indicator if attacks were damaging enemies. Clicking the mouse spawns enemies - is this intentional. Nice job finishing up a game for the jam!

The Old One by Chris Olsen 2015-08-26T03:02:00

Beautiful game and style. Well animated - took me a minute to grasp the core gameplay. Takes a minute to warm up to the sluggish attacks. Would be nice if the top crystal could take more than one "hit". Overall, really nice work!

The Sacrifice by foxboard 2015-08-26T03:31:00

Very great work here. The graphics and style were amazing - reminded me of a dark Lovecraftian graphic novel. The gameplay and survival were pretty difficult. Might be nice to have some more information about the towns strengths / weaknesses - forageability, building score, etc. Loved the procedural character design (names, avatars, personalities, etc)
