LD26 — Minimalism

Fortuitous by Follett 2013-05-02T03:02:00

I found camera control to be very frustrating, had no idea what I might want to shoot at, and was disappointed with the fact that all it seemed to take to lose was getting caught on one edge. It was far too difficult to navigate due to the poor camera control, and I didn't have a very good feel for the motion of the player.

Controlling the triangle was fun to learn to do, and the squares seemed fairly smart. The different weapons were a nice touch, but the game really lacked in audio.

BE A CUBE by AnnynN 2013-05-01T16:47:00

The music and visual aesthetics were both very nice and soft. They gave off a great relaxing feeling. Sound was very pleasant- a great part of the game.
It didn't have a lot going for it to make it really fun, but it was pleasant enough to play. The controls were great.
Certainly very minimal. Not bad at all!

Not bad overall. The graphics and music were really nice. Certainly had a creepy feel for a little while, there. I must say that I was really confused and couldn't understand what was happening for a minute or so, which took away from the experience. If the cutscenes weren't so transparent and seemed more significant, this would have had a great feel.
I will still say that this did feel pretty innovative. At the very least, I've never played anything quite like it.

Trying to play on linux but I'm getting a huge stack trace with some errors stemming from pulseaudio.

True treasure of Kartoffelschloss by mortus 2013-05-20T19:52:00

This was incredible fun. The game itself was enjoyable- a nice little platformer. Stabbing away at monsters was pretty fun, but it was really entertaining as things get more minimal. A great way to tackle the theme, very creative, and a lot of fun. I really can't say anything bad about this. It was very entertaining, and I'd love to play more games like this.

Robot reminds me quite a bit of GLaDOS. Fun to read. Nice chip-tune music.

It's written in Python, so you just run the main.py file with `python main.py'

Color Police by ryuurei 2013-04-29T15:56:00

To make things more clear (should have written this before, it's my bad):
Change directories into the LudumDare26/src directory.
run `python main.py` to play the game.

Color Police by ryuurei 2013-05-01T04:34:00

I've added a new `windows` release. It basically has exactly what the source release has plus a dist directory containing a main.exe file that provides all dependencies (python and pygame) so it can be played automatically.
However, since this isn't like a native executable, and simply contains the whole Python interpreter, it's a substantially larger download.

One Crate Sokoban In The Dark by stqn 2013-05-20T19:20:00

Had a nice feel as a puzzle game. I liked the idea of only being able to see so much of the map.
Having no music or sound effects really took away from the experience, and the lack of any response after accomplishing the goal was very anti-climactic. It was a nice idea, but could have used some polish.

I thought it was pretty cute. A few seconds worth of amusement out of it, at least.

Treasure! by Mach60KAS 2013-05-18T13:07:00

Very nice and minimal looking. The sprites all look very good and so does the cave(?). I like how this feels like a less ridiculous version of The Hardest Game Ever (or something like that).
It would have been really nice to have some mild music, and at least a level or two more would have been nice.

Minimalist Dungeon by texel 2013-04-29T01:42:00

That was a pretty enjoyable little game. Wish I'd thought of potato references. That was a nice touch.

Timothy's Adventure by FenrisWolf 2013-05-20T20:06:00

This really was quite addictive. Shooting around somewhat senselessly was pretty amusing, and the gun upgrades were also pretty fun to play with. The only thing I wasn't very impressed with were the graphics. The colors could have been nicer to look at. Overall, it was pretty good. Quite enjoyable!

Orchis by BortStudios 2013-05-20T20:11:00

I also got stuck in a hole and couldn't continue. That was pretty disappointing. I don't understand why you had the increasing gravity- acceleration wasn't affected at all. The motion didn't feel very natural at all, either.
The exploratory feel was pretty nice, however, and the music set a nice mood. The colors were pleasing and felt very alien, as well.
Not too bad, but there were some nasty loose ends.
