Interesting concept. My main sticking point was the jump mechanics. Being able to vary jump height based on how long you hold down the button would add a lot, since getting caught on edges or overshooting pickups can be a disincentive to trying some of the tougher routes. Also, it wasn't clear why IT kept evolving without picking up points, so having to actually compete over them (maybe multiple paths, forcing the player to pick a riskier one for more reward?) would help emphasize the theme.

Collision detection fells really buggy, as I keep falling through plataforms... =X
Yeah I knew about that, but I didn't have enough time to fix it :(
Besides the collision detection bug it was fun to play, the collect dna sound got a little annoying but it wasn't too bad.
Thanks! I think I will work on it more for a post compo version.

Collisions could be improved, sounds are beeps? enought for a side scrollers in a few hours no?
Good effort. The jumping is kinda iffy, the collision detection's a bit off, BUT! You DO have parallax scrolling and I'm a sucker for that, so well done!
I have to say I actually found this a pain. My character kept falling through the floor, he couldn't jump on the platforms (He'd either fall through them straight away or hit them at an odd angle). It made the game impossible. To make matters worse the game actually slowed down my computer, which is not old by any stretch.
It sounds like a decent concept, but it's far too buggy to properly judge. Sorry man.
I got the tophat! :-) I enjoyed the game. I'm just thinking that it might be better if it didn't speed up so much towards the end, so that it still feels as if you really need to escape the other creature rather than totally outpace it.

I like the concept of running to catch DNA things and evolving. I found the controls to be a bit sluggish feeling, and I couldn't ever run very far from the dude behind me. :\
GFX are great! but collision is weird after a while

Was going good for a while, but hit a wall of spikes and the game crashed out? Great concept though.
