I like the colors, but please, add links

Underated on this site.
I love the humor.
The walk cycle is very cute.
Seems you worked around the theme more than with it.
Gameplay isn't that hard, or exciting, but still is engaging enough for me to play-through.

So, Good Graphics.
Good humor.

Needs work on gameplay.

omniorcus 2016-12-17 01:02

A nice little game. Simple, and more of a walking sim, but I enjoyed it. The humor and commentary on gaming genres was also a really nice touch.

jramell 2016-12-17 01:21

Great game! Fun to play, humorous dialog, and fitting sound effects and background music.

However, the dialog button being different from the interaction button makes the control scheme kind of confusing. I'm guessing it was easier programming wise to implement it this way, but it's the one thing I would change from the game.

alexbrainbox 2016-12-17 01:23

jramell: that's really interesting - I didn't realize that using the two buttons made the control scheme more awkward. You're right that it is slightly easier to code but not by much! Thanks for your feedback.

pretty good nice humor overall not bad

chrisostome 2016-12-17 01:51

This one is very charming. Your pixel art is cute, the story is funny and the dialogs are witty. I liked that it is a short game, making it for a little adventure.

bigpan 2016-12-17 01:51

So simple, but a very nice game! I really like themes with time travel. And, as a girl, I like furniture! lol

bonedaddy 2016-12-17 01:55

This is an extremely good jam game! The writing is superb, so funny. Looks great and sound great too. I did manage to get killed by dinosaurs while talking to the big one and have the dialog continue after restarting. The variety the platforming bit adds I think adds quite a bit to the game. Even though the ending is a cop out it kind of fits. I laughed the first time I read the note was from God. Great work, definitely one of the best I've played so far.

Compo Entries require to have source code available (no links provided).

alexbrainbox 2016-12-17 02:12

StarshipTrooper0589: my mistake! Fixing that now, thanks.

zqmony 2016-12-17 02:43

Really cool music and graphics. It isn't super hard, but it was funny and enjoyable. Good job!

bumblepie 2016-12-17 02:44

The graphics are cute, and the audio is great! I found the gameplay a bit lacking though, as there simply wasn't a lot to do.

ohsqueezy 2016-12-17 02:46

On the seventh day, God finished his Ludum Dare entry. He had extra days because he is God.

philstrahl 2016-12-17 02:51

Very charming entry, amazing what you managed to get done in 48 hrs! I struggled a little because of the unfortunate button placement (on my German keyboard layout Z and Y are switched, so it made it a bit taxing).

calzep 2016-12-17 05:18

Nice graphics! Gameplay is very elegant, I figured it can be exploited in some way but I couldn't find anything! Good job!

samh 2016-12-17 12:04

Very nice entry, it’s impressive that you got the time to do (almost) three worlds, some fighting, a boss battle, a meta ending, an ending screen effect… great use of your time. And I liked the humour, especially Los Diablos.

discofish 2016-12-17 13:10

Nice graphics! Also Really nice and funny game!

warmlemon 2016-12-17 13:38

nice!

igdzichu 2016-12-17 13:41

Everything about it I loved. It was funny and made me want to play till the end. Good job on getting it done in 48 hours, I like what you did with the time you had ;)

acotis 2016-12-17 13:52

Nice. I really wasn't expecting that I'd shoot somebody, that was a nice touch, especially since the music stopped right afterward. I think the music was nice, but not really fitting to the overall mood of the game.

From a game design perspective, I think the controls would be easier if you combined interact/advance/jump all into one control: you never need two at the same time, and it's confusing to remember which is which, especially since so many of these LD games have simple controls with Z or X to jump :D

gazok 2016-12-17 16:09

Nice! I like the little touches like the windows changing when you use the time machine. Good effects. I agree with another comment that I don't see the need for the x action to move dialogue forward, would be better to stick to z.

Overall felt very well-rounded.

chromableedstudios 2016-12-17 16:21

Fun use of the one room as your jumping off point for a bill and ted-esque adventure! Loved the sense of humor

jotson 2016-12-17 17:33

Fun game, fun writing. You accomplished a lot with Pico-8. Very impressive entry.

neon 2016-12-17 18:13

The graphics and writing are good, and the game is nice overall. Only problem I had was the slightly wonky hitboxes in the prehistoric level, where the enemies' hitboxes seemed to be a bit too large, and sometimes didn't register "falling on." Still, a fun experience!

rambauldi 2016-12-18 02:57

Really enjoyed this. The colliders seemed somewhat oversized so you could "die" when they are seemingly some distance away and the gameplay was not all that difficult. Theme connection was there, though tenuous.

Loved the humour and the narrative. Graphics were endearing and the sounds were good. Really solid submission, great job!

ragnta 2016-12-18 19:08

Cute graphics, but I think the collision is a little bit bad.

caranha 2016-12-25 15:05

Loooved the Dino music! And suddenly, pico-noir!

Such a beautiful entry! I'll have fun digging through the code later :-)

Thanks for the game!

rjhelms 2016-12-27 02:31

This was good for a laugh - great writing! You really used the limitations of the Pico-8 to great effect - the sound and graphics fit perfectly.

My biggest criticism is: more please!

danielilett 2017-01-02 23:44

I loved this game, the humour is leaps and bounds ahead of the other games I've played so far. Without the humour, the game wouldn't have really worked because the gameplay is so basic - but together they work like a charm.

I really liked the bleepy bloopy soundtrack too. The fact each area has its own tune is impressive in its own right, and the part of Los Diablos where the music stops was really funny because of the juxtaposition of a pseudo-serious tone and the game's ridiculous premise of furniture collection.

It's a shame the third level was so underdeveloped, but even then, instead of cutting it you weaved it into the existing humour of the game. It shouldn't work so well, but it just does. To be fair, God must have really let himself go if all he could manage in 48 hours was a few dinosaurs, a small town and an unfinished future city. I expect a working planet in the next 5 days or I'm demanding to see God's manager.

I think the art style is nice too, it's amazing how many Pico-8 games I see that use its limitations to their advantage. You even got nice little graphical touches in like the shining effect on the furniture when you collect them.

As for the gameplay, while it's really basic, I also feel it's polished and I didn't find any horrid bugs. I liked the part of the dinosaur level where you kill the largest dinosaur the same way you killed the others, by stomping on it. That was way funnier than if you'd made up some new mechanic for the boss dinosaur. I didn't realise at first you had to stomp on them, but I pretty quickly figured it out after dying once.

A great entry, one of the highlights of LD37 for me! Good job on getting such a polished and humour-rich game done in 48 hours.
