It took me a while to understand how to earn points—I had to reread the instructions a few times. On the box the light isn’t very noticeable—it would be better if it stood out more. Overall though, it’s an interesting game with a nice visual style.

I love this idea, though it took me a bit of time to figure it out.
As mentioned, the signals should be clearer: the green light should be brighter, and the frog should be bigger. Perhaps you deliberately made them like this for an extra challenge? But I think clearer signals (and perhaps more of them) would be a more fun challenge.
Could also be clearer when you're getting positive/negative points, maybe some kind of animation like the frog jumping around when he's angry and you've clicked.
Graphics and audio good for a compo game.
is the angry frog a reference to something? because it seems pretty random lol.
With a bit of polish and maybe making the rules more intuitive (so the player doesn't have to do a bunch of reading before starting), I think this could be a really fun and addictive game. Could even spawn a while new genre of "logic clickers"

Yes, all hail the frog god and keep praying that he sends us a rich harvest and not devastate our lands when he gets angry.
Cute music. The three signals are plenty to keep track of. It's in the difficulty sweet spot. Pretty funny when the game accuses me of cheating. Couldn't find other instances of that, but curious...
I appreciate the top scores list. It would be nice to also see what the latest score was. If it's below zero, which mine often were, I didn't get that feedback.
>You should not squish the frog, that's cheating
Literally 1984
But memorized for future runs, I made it up to 423 (would have been 424, but I whiffed on LITERALLY the last click). I'm an extremely slow clicker so I doubt that Any% WR is going to stand long, but here it is:

The signal frog really rules the field, if you click when he's angry, you're cooked, especially with the time loss. It was always really tense when he was awake and doubling the points and you want to squeeze out a few more of them, but he's about to turn- That got really tense, especially near the end when things go faster and faster. I like how the different systems played together, the green light reversing things really means you have to keep an eye on everything, trying to keep an eye on both the frog and the light, that made it very fun, you can't just mindlessly mash clicks, you have to mindfully mash clicks, I thought that was pretty neat design, great job on that! Very well done game, great job!
@japes its just random.
@pincushion yes i wish had added bottom scores as well.
@captaindreamcast glad you liked it, I added your score to the game page, hope thats ok.
Also thanks to everyone that has played.
interesting concept!! i accidentally squished the frog :'( nice work
This game made me wish my eyes could look two independent directions. Deceptively difficult and fun! I also squished the frog which made me sad so I couldn't bare to keep playing. Poor guy :(
One complaint I have is that if the frog is angry, he can stay that way for quite some time. I enjoyed the light mechanic as it still allows you to gain points, just with different rules, but the frog feels punishing and a little boring since you aren't able to do anything while he's mad. Signals should also be made a little clearer/larger. Overall though, good work and a very unique entry for sure!
@charles-mossius The frog should only stay angry for about 4 seconds. he wakes up for about 4 seconds then becomes angry for another 4.
Interesting concept! I kept squishing the frog :( whole game is very cohesive!

It's really cool! You made a game very simple to understand, but difficult enough to be fully engaging! I got this "just one more try" moment
As other mentioned, it took me some time to understand everything, but I had fun once I got it!
UX could be improved, by slightly moving panels so that it doesn't overlap with game elements.
I laughed when clicking the frog, seeing all the UI be mad at me for what I did :D
Good job!

Perhaps symbolism for trying to get some work done while under corporate politics? A fine LD game in any case, I love how you just came up with whatever rules you needed to make it work, and graphics is more than meets the eye. Extra points for the infinite scrolling clouds. Maybe the green light frequency should have been a bit different, atm it can easily soft lock you within last 10 or so seconds.
I like this. Squishing the frog is funny. Took me a while to figure out how to play, but once I got into the ryhthm of it I quite liked it. 211 is my best score, that guy who got over 400 is crazy.
Lol, I love seeing all the competition in the comments. I got 163 which I thought was pretty good but apparently not. The UI is definitely a little convoluted but once you click a few things and see the feedback of the number going up/down it starts to make sense. I had fun!

My fav Steve game to date. I think it has just the right amount of things that you need to keep track of. The changing sign actually makes it easier to manage the frog (which is a good thing) - because it either makes you stop earlier, or comes up too late so you decide not to risk it. The only thing I'd add is some sort of feedback after clicking positive/negative/very-negative points - maybe showing a color border around the screen on every click? Right now you have to pay attention to the score to know if you're clicking wrong or not. It's not an issue after you learn the game, but it'd help when you play for the first time. Also, the frog getting mad is a welcome feature for me, because it gives you time to rest a little bit.
I like the silly art, and the music too ^^

Thanks everyone. Im gonna try add an online score board for this one i think, although ive had trouble in the past. @hexstart well done on the world record. ive added it to the itch page.

It's a good game!Player need to focus on three signals at the same time:frog, main sign and green light.I really like these designs: 1.Score and punishment.Player need choose eager for more scores or click the sign carefully.Limited time make it more interesting. 2.All signals looks like random but have some rules to be utilized, frog only turn from "sleep -> awake -> angry", main sign and green light only have two status to switch. Some small issues: frog is too small and green light is not obvious.I think these things make the game more challenge but I'm squeezing my eyes hahaha.
Nice game. It is quite challenging(at least for me) to keep track of the 3 items to know when to click. Having the light and frog give a brief indication/animation before changing state would be nice.

As others have said, this looks simple but is deceptively tricky! There's really a lot to focus on all at once. I found it challenging (in a good way) to get a good score. Nice work!

I managed to get the score up to 100, there is not much you can do as a player, I wish there were different task to make the frog go to sleep or to clear out the fog so you could come back to clicking.
Original game entry, I was getting -200 score a couple of times before I read the instructions on the screen properly and then I got a nice 181  Fun to play game, good work!
II got just below 400:

I think some kind of feedback mentioning why the score is going down would improve the learning curve for this game since many of us are sloppy readers  Otherwise quite a fun game. Well done!
This made me laugh a load. Nice entry! I squished the frog!! I enjoyed keeping an eye on the light to see when it was opposites day :D
Poor frog I squished it!
I really enjoyed how you had to keep your attention on every signal to earn more points. I came here all happy to tell everyone my high score of 160 then when I went to the comment section I was like whaaaaaaat y'all are way better than me at this lol. I went back to try again and got like 237 hehe.
Another thumbs up is that you can hide the hints through a button. A clear screen made me focus so much better. The visuals are simple but they work, the face on that dude holding the sign made me giggle. The gameplay loop works well, it gets pretty frantic as you try to click as fast as possible while keeping eye on everything.
Good job!
Great take on the signal idea. Loved the variety and the various rules for things to do. It's like I wasn't expecting it. The art seems pretty familiar. (my art seems to be similar) haha. Great work.
Cool game ! The green light is a bit hard to see, but it's really fun to check every signal at once and try to maximize points.
Good job
This is a great and simple entry. I enjoyed the challenge of the small frog and hard to see light. I played this too many times when I should have gone to bed. The audio and visuals are wonderful. I really like the simple art style. Great work.

My high score is 181. I like the interpretation of the theme here, its very fundamental and simple but also effective! As others have already noted, it is a bit diffucult to tell if the light is on when you don't know how the off state looks like. But I love how the angry frog looks  Cool game!

Got to a highscore of 407 and couldn't crack the 471 but still had a fun time playing and trying to squeeze out a score. The idea was really fun and enjoyed the idea of the frog deciding everything haha. Really cool game!
PS. liked the impractical jokers thumbs up

Game looks like the first try of coding the game, like just switching and increasing variables, but damn i like this paint graphics. The game is still good, is was the first one that i saw during the compo and the first one that i playing, just came back to write the comment.
@gecko64 I didnt put a thumbs up to impractical jokers in there. can you send me a link to a clip of what you mean please.

My high score was 208, which I was pretty happy with.... idk how you got 500 :o
Simple but fun game! I agree with people that some of the features could be displayed a bit more clearly, it was hard to tell if the light was on or off.
Also I didn't mean to squish the frog, just wanted to say hi :(
