LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Xmas Pinch by davisan 2014-12-28T04:55:00

I just spent 15 minutes of my life jumping around and rotating a bunch of wooden blocks to try and activate the alarm because the room was on fire. Why the dumb snowman couldn't just install a smoke detector like a sensible homeowner is beyond me, but I'm glad I played this game anyway.

The Legend of Hyperlink by NickName 2014-12-09T03:47:00

This is really hilarious.

Labshooter by Esenti 2014-12-13T23:14:00

The controls in this game are really funky. I feel like if the players had momentum, it'd be a bit easier to control.

A Very Short Age of Very Small Empires by ZYXer 2014-12-09T04:12:00

Oh man this game is riveting

Dragon Slayer 89 by acro 2014-12-09T04:57:00

I LOVED that lcd idea. Man this brings me back to those really cheap handheld game, but I am no good at this one :P

One screen Labyrinth by NaoisTheGuardian 2014-12-09T05:02:00

Really liked this game. Beauty in simplicity. I can confirm the first link works properly on OS X10.10

Afterlife Tesla's Disco Party with Flat Buds by Menesetsu 2014-12-28T05:15:00

There doesn't seem to be any real cohesion to this game... It's really just a matching game, but the core mechanic is hidden behind a bunch of weird and completely irrelevant stuff. The audio is nice, but is completely disconnected from the actual game mechanic, and is confusing because of that. The fact that it doesn't matter where you place your midi blip within the correct quadrant is confusing in the face of visual and auditory cues to the contrary (the line scanning across the image and the row and column lighting up when it's activated). It seems like there's just a lot of arbitrary and largely meaningless information (what do the words "afterlife", "Testla", "Disco", "Party", or "Buds" have to do with anything in the game?) added on top of what's actually a really simple matching game. The audio is really solid, and it's pleasant to listen to, and the game mechanic is fun enough once you figure out what it is... but it's just too much of a clusterfuck to really enjoy.

Game Evolution by Turkey 2014-12-28T06:08:00

This game is really boring. Some rounds are impossible to win, the controls are too finicky, and it takes too long to get to the next stage after pong. Also, the graphics of the pieces sliding to the edges of the screen are extremely buggy. For only 10 hours of work, though, it's not bad.

PixelFighterZ by Rothens 2014-12-09T04:38:00

The scrolling action is a bit jerky, but I do like how you bent the theme.

Derelict by Justin Mullin 2014-12-09T03:30:00

This was a super cool game!

Champions League by holgk 2014-12-09T04:47:00

I don't know what's happening or how I'm supposed help. Is this league of legends?

Broken by SetArray 2014-12-28T06:30:00

I like that the background color changes to correspond with the amount of each primary color you've gathered, although it took me a minute to even figure out that I was supposed to be walking over the colored tiles, it's not particularly intuitive. It's very simple, but it's a fun little game, which is enough.

The Second Thought or Please, Don't Touch Anything by Four Quarters 2014-12-09T04:38:00

I can't figure anything out but that's probably just because I'm an idiot. Will rate when I have more patience.

Diametric by JFern 2014-12-09T04:48:00

OS X binary doens't seem to work. I get a cannot run error from the OS

Clear Screen by Valtaroth 2014-12-28T05:04:00

I really liked this game!

Shroom Boom by Asado 2014-12-28T05:54:00

There's an unlabeled (volume?) slider on the main menu, and the game is made unplayable in windowed mode because the mouse isn't constrained to the window. Also, the controls as specified in the description don't do anything, and I don't see how this fits the theme in any way.

beheaded person steals heads by scnoobi 2014-12-28T06:58:00

The controls can be a bit unwieldy and the graphics aren't very intuitive, but the mechanic is simple and well enough explained, so it's not a big deal. It's not very polished, but it's a fun(ny) challenge anyway. What can I say, running around stealing heads is silly and addicting.

Out Of The Screen by Axel_Kay 2014-12-28T06:17:00

This could be cool and funny, if there were more to it than just the core mechanic. Any amount of variation (different enemy types/behaviours, different ways to combat them, etc.) would have made this fun. As it is, there's just nothing really to it.

Perceptions by dgjames222 2014-12-09T05:04:00

Everything is glitchy and most of the assets look like placeholders, but somehow it's really engaging. Not often I get to play a game about helping people solve their problems. Also, "Press 'F' to destroy ALL THE TREES". This game is just inexplicably charming.

Jetpack Bhutan by alecmilne 2014-12-28T07:07:00

The collision detection is broken and the movement controls are frustratingly bad. There doesn't appear to be any particular goal to this game. But the art is good.

Crumble by jasonLJ 2014-12-28T06:47:00

This is a really solid and polished game! It would be nice to control your jump height, and the later levels become impossible if you've died too many times, and I'm miffed that it's not cross-platform, but those are the only complaints I could come up with. The game mechanic is fun and intuitive, the graphics are minimalistic but still pretty, and it was a captivating experience throughout. I do wish the campaign were a bit longer of course, but with a jam game it seems it can't be helped. If you showed me this out of context, I'd never guess it was a jam game. All told, this is easily my favorite of all the LD31 entries I've played so far.

Kaiser by oscarabraham 2014-12-09T04:05:00

The core game mechanic for this is hard to pick up, frustrating, and seemingly very random. With the enemies seemingly impossibly to kill and nearly impossible to avoid, it quickly becomes almost solely about avoidance and not about fighting back. The art style is really promising and it seems like there's an engaging mood and narrative under the surface wanting to break free, but the basic mechanics get in the way and stop it from surfacing.

RandomRemoteRush[RRR] by AwesomeAlliterationAlliance 2014-12-09T04:36:00

I've gotta admit, this game is really pretty but I have NO idea what's going on, even after reading the instructions.

Blockade Runner by Kopeph Developers 2014-12-28T05:37:00

You're right, the movement is framerate-dependent. We've since fixed this after the jam, but it's too big of a patch to be able to justifiably update the download links.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Super Shift-Shaper by Jacksendary 2016-04-20T03:40:00

To get this working on OS X after unzipping, you need to run something like:

chmod +x "Downloads/Super Shift-Shaper (OSXx86)/SuperShiftShaper.app/Contents/MacOS/SuperShiftShaper"

To get the execute bit set on the binary of the app.

Super Shift-Shaper by Jacksendary 2016-04-20T03:51:00

This game is super difficult and I am not totally sure how to get past any circle, and I don't know if its just too hard for me or if I am not doing it right.

Figure Shift by Simaflux 2016-04-20T03:32:00

This is the coolest game I have seen so far. Good work!

Figure Shift by Simaflux 2016-04-20T03:33:00

This is the coolest game I have seen so far. Good work! Also I want to point out OP and others that the Windows link works fine on OS X, and I'd imagine any other OS that has a java runtime environment.

Theseus by TheMeorch 2016-04-20T04:22:00

Oh the little feet on the square made me laugh :D. This game is really well put together. I am impressed. Best entry I have tried out so far.

Theseus by TheMeorch 2016-04-20T04:34:00

Got to level 12 before I got stuck

Evolved by FinGamer 2016-05-08T06:44:00

The last level glitched out completely after the long rectangle thing and I got into a respawn loop with just a corner of the level visible and nothing else.

level dog by Remynfv 2016-04-20T04:13:00

This game, I can tell, has marked inspiration from Undertale, down its the color palette used :P (that, or this is just the standard bullet hell colors)
