Good work finishing the game ! It needs a nice sound design, and I would suggest a manual mouse based collecting mechanic or something. You like fire don't you :). ASSIMILATION!!!

shadoninja 2018-08-14 06:22

Fun game. Very unique perspective for a tower defense. Was there supposed to be sound?

jamison 2018-08-14 06:27

I really liked the background and the particles/effects, especially on the oil tower. I wasn't quite sure what I was doing at first (I actually alt-tabbed back to your description mid-game to study up quickly) but I ended up beating it on my first try.

I wish there were some sound effects and visual feedback so I know how much damage my towers are doing against the oncoming enemies. I also would have liked the screen to only scroll if my mouse were at the edges of the screen, it made it difficult to click through the menus (although I was also playing the WebGL version, which is probably a big laggier than the desktop version)

Nice little tower defense. I liked the added twist that the enemies encroach on your buildable space. Actually made me say "Ah! I'm running out of space!" :P

This is a cool game! I loved the mix between tower defense and resource management, and the graphics looked awesome! The biggest note I can give is that the lack of any tutorial or explanation of the mechanics and controls made for a rocky start in playing it. But other than that, I enjoyed playing it! Didn't quite beat it, but I think I could've in another game or two, so nice job balancing. Overall, an awesome game!

An interesting take on the tower defense genre. I am not great at these styles of games and wasn't able to get to 300 fuel after ~6 attempts at it. The graphics are cohesive, and the mechanics play well.

I didn't have any sound for some reason (tried both web versions with no luck).

One small request is that the camera doesn't pan once you've selected a structure. It's very awkward feeling to have the menu move the opposite direction as you move you mouse over it to try to click the buttons.

But overall, a solid entry. I will be trying again tomorrow (almost 1am here) to see if I can prevent assimilation. Nice work!

I enjoyed the game overall but found the UI a tad overwhelming when paired with all the visual effects in the game! I though the use of the theme was really strong and it definitely made me panic as I lost ground to the enemies!

Hey, what a fantastic idea! I really liked the controls and the 1D concept of the game. It's very hard but a lot of fun, really enjoyed it. Thanks for your submission!

cercle 2018-08-14 19:39

Tons of potential here, good work on getting the game out! Sound will help it considerably, of course, but you've got some unique mechanics forming. Ambitious go at it for this challenge, well done!

skyrex 2018-08-14 19:45

Nice tower defense but game goes on beggining too fast. In future you could fix that and if you make the game bigger it'll be fun and you could sell it.

anstabo 2018-08-14 19:48

There are some optimization issues but the intent is good

markd 2018-08-14 19:52

I like the 2 dimensional aspect of building your systems. You do not have a lot of time to think out an efficient layout, but that is a good thing! Audio would have given this just that extra bit of polish though. (Also the UI does not register to the scene depth, so the Depth of Field effect blurs those pixels if there is no building behind it. just a heads up)

sam-estep 2018-08-14 19:58

Very interesting idea! The graphics are impressive; they slowed down my laptop a lot though. I was very confused by the UI and wasn't sure what I was doing for a while. Like others pointed out, I haven't seen a lot of tower defense games that allow the enemies to attack the towers in a one-dimensional style. The main thing I'd say needs improvement is the UI; with the intense visuals, it's important for people to know what they're doing.

earnso 2018-08-14 20:14

It's a great idea and it's wonderfully implemented.

monetai 2018-08-14 20:15

EXPLOSIONS!!! KABOUM!! FIIIIRE! =) Really liked this "fast paced" tower defence !

corbak 2018-08-15 06:53

Nice try on the genre. Looks beautiful and simple to take in hand. However it was a bit laggy on my computer and when you open the panel to choose a tower the camera moves at the same time you move your cursor. But despite this it felt nice :) Well done.

wetbox 2018-08-16 13:33

Pretty stylish. Minimalistic and good color combinations. But lags on my computer. The atmosphere is pleasant.

3ncryp73d 2018-08-16 19:37

The graphics are amazing but it's too hard, because you're attacked from two sides (WW2 showed that's never a good idea). This makes the game very exciting, but because the enemy progresses so quickly, it's sometimes very frustrating. If there was sound, the artstyle would really shine, but even like this it is very good. Maybe a bit more explanation in the start would be helpful, i didn't really understand that i needed fuel for the rocket. I think it's a very good game, but needs a little adjustment on the values.

bustosman 2018-08-17 10:24

Pretty simple and nice looking game, and I enjoyed how it threw a nice twist for a tower defense game. For the web version, I didn't like how the camera movement wasn't as smooth as it could have been. Perhaps the windows version has the game run much better than the web version. Maybe the damage from the towers should have been increased because the monsters at end game became very difficult to hold back. Good entry!

thegunmaster 2018-08-17 12:01

I thought the controls with the mouse were a tiny bit annoying, but other than that it's a pretty cool game :D

kack3y 2018-08-20 11:54

Seams pretty simple and pretty good but it is incredibly slow on my 1060GTX :/ So huge lags on the mouse controlled camera and it's quite impossible to click on buttons... I played the windows and WebGL version :/

My team is using unity also and I don't understand why your game is so slow. Very annoying since your games seams very cool :/

bradur 2018-09-01 16:08

Cool graphics but the gameplay is hard because the camera moves everytime you move your mouse. Also, feels a little empty without any sound. Nice twist on the classic tower defence genre!

heidelbert 2018-09-02 15:53

Thank you all so much for your feedback. It has been a great experience to get this game out and to also see so many other awesome games.

@thomas-olsson @shadoninja @jamison @3ncryp73d @bitdecay @cercle @markd @bradur Next time we will definitely plan for sound! I'd personally like to take this as a challenge since I have never done a "good" sound design so far.

@sam-estep @kack3y @jamison @corbak @wetbox @anstabo It's a bit sad to see that some of you run into such big issues with the performance. I guess you trust us when we say we didn't release something that at least on our machines (GTX 970) would not run smoothly. That being said, the WebGL version is definitely slower also for me than the PC version and we were only able to spend like 1 hour or so of our time budget on optimization. Draw calls are definitely quite high and particle effects are a bit excessive so that is probably the culprit ;-) Good learning for next time to put more focus on this as well.
