It's terrifying and really well executed. Nicely done. The artwork is amazing.
Gameplay does drag on a little bit. Played for about 20 minutes, got caught and eaten.

very nice
super creepy, love the animations and the lights, overall it's really well done, great work!
The concept is great, the idea of having to feed a monster while avoiding to be eaten (at the beginning at least) is horrifyingly funny. Matches the theme very nicely
very interesting concept!
such a cool art style! this game has a lot of potential. I did not hear any music and only very soft sound effects. this really added to the very creepy atmosphere that you have created for this game.
👍 good job!
OMG, the gameplay is so cool! Although it was very difficult to start at first (a tutorial would be nice) and after time, the creature locked itself between the barn and hay, but the whole idea is stunning!
Very cool and atmospheric. Just needed some audio and it would have been great.
@verttixpertti it does have audio! Though it is pretty quiet. Mostly creepy monster noises.
Wow. Amazing. I'm into the horror you're putting down. The fact that its growl gets audible only after you start feeding it is amazing.
As feedback, I'd increase the light radius a bit. i know it's to create ambiance but many times I was unsure where I was going.
It's a great self closing game, and well presented. Superb!
Nice game
Creepy, well made game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/6SpOkik3XNg
Amazing atmosphere and an overall great experience! One of the best I've seen so far! Great job!
Overall well made! Atmosphere is creepy and not lacking and neither is the art! The sounds side felt a bit lonely but what was there was good!
The gameplay had a nice twist to it to keep things interesting. It was interest losing the monster and then having to frantically scurry to find where it is.
I liked it!
Damn, that creepy atmosphere, those animations(procedural?). Fantastic work! I would love to see a dark RPG with those visuals.
Seriously great stuff going on here. Great atmosphere
Really cool take on the theme and looks really nice. The gameplay did feel a bit slow for me in it's current form but I can imagine where an idea like this could go with a bit more time spent on it. Congrats on the game :)
In another game I had to burn squirrels, here I have to feed chicken :chicken: and sheep to a creepy monster. I wonder what's next :D nice entry!!
@talia Hey nobody actually made you feed it the animals. It can survive perfectly well on apples, hay, and the occasional house.
My little monster had all their greens! Really unique take on gameplay and the mood is on point.
Omg, great game. I like soo much the concept of not directly controlling another creature
Oh I love these kind of growing games where you later go back to eat things you couldn't before. It wanting to eat you after it got big enough was a nice touch and made the game more difficult. I just wish I were a bit faster to outrun it should it suddenly turn around.
Impressive game for 48H! Good job on the rps mention.
I really enjoyed the setting and sound design, and I am a sucker for katamari like games. The only bug I could find was that when the creature got too large the shadows of its arms would glitch.
Since when do I look tastier than a fat sheep? Great game. So well done. Great mood, solid mechanics.
damn...
Oddly terrifying for a pixel-art game, so kudos! I love my horrible friend.
Great game, definitely the best one I've seen for mood. The game does drag on a bit, though, and I let myself get eaten and was surprised to see it still said it wasn't ready. Oh well
Wow I loved this one! The art style and mood was great. A good commentary on parenthood too.
Really nice entry, well done !
The fact that the direction your character and mouse face isn't necessarily the direction you move feels somewhat strange. The character animations are very cute :D Had fun walking around collecting food with my monster dude.
Wow, really creepy and very creative. The visual design really supports the dark mood.
Really creative take on the theme. The lighting system is amazing !
This was great! Very atmospheric, the lighting and everything were top notch. I found holding the mouse button down so much a bit tiring, and felt maybe the game as a whole was a bit too long? Definitely one of my favourites I've seen so far though. Good work!
I love how creepy this feels, very very nice ambience, amazing lighting. I also like how minimal it is, very very good entry
I haven't played something that frightening in a long time. It probably helps that it's very late at night. Nicely done.
Loved the game. And I loved the adaptation of the theme. For the first time in a game I enjoyed how my character died.
I am not fond of but bizarre horror games at all. I wanted to kill the creature somehow but I failed.
Really cool! Super creepy and well animated monster. I did my best to raise it vegetarian, but that didn't work out that well. :D Great idea turned into quite a high quality game.
I also played your Boil Them game from last year btw, which is also great. You seem to have quite a knack for these strange little horror games. Well done!
Awesome game loved the graphics. Well done!
I checked this game just because it was one of the ideas we had for the jam (but didn't pick in the end). It really gives the mood (and your other games on itch.io seem in the same vein!).
In terms of game design, I find it hard to make the beast eat sheep (and other fleeing animals), as they just run too fast. Fortunately, you can (and should) play with the fences to have them trapped, but even while you're moving around to find the right position, they may see the monster and start fleeing already. And if they escape, it becomes very hard to have them eaten (I had to drive them into a corner of the map, then quickly change direction).
It was also not clear when the game would end, as during the end phase of the game, I was expecting some message to tell me the beast had eaten enough, but didn't see it while the beast was already very big. So I wasn't sure if I could just end my own life at that point or not. Turns out it was a good idea to go on, as the message finally appeared.
In a snowball progression game, it's very important to regularly show progress to the player and know when to stop; I think the beast goes to the next step at the right pacing (except maybe at the end where it gets a bit long as there's nothing bigger to eat).
Otherwise, it's easy to understand the beast's behavior and lead it where needed at the start. In the second part, I wasn't sure if the flame really attracted it anymore, so I just considered the beast would come to me and only used the flame as a tool to see around.
I gave fewer points to Theme since technically, the beast cannot die so you're not exactly Keeping it alive. There could be a mechanic that forces you to make it eat regularly; but it may be weird in the second phase where it's so big and you sometimes only care about avoiding it in emergency, so maybe it was a better choice mechanically speaking.
The Chaos God of vegetarianism is impressive. Even healthier than my.
