This game is really visually pleasing, and everything feels polished and smooth. The idea is really interesting, and the premise is unique, especially among the other LD42 games I've played. Despite this, the game wasn't very entertaining, and it felt repetitive after a few rounds.

I like the visual style, very consistent and cute.

dangogamedev 2018-08-13 11:29

Nice art with fun gameplay.

j0ye 2018-08-13 11:35

The art is really nice, but it is lacking some music. Music would make it so much better. But overall nice

stephano 2018-08-13 11:37

@j0ye Thnx ,I sadly didn't have any time left, i will add a updated version maybe later today with hopefully some music and other sound fx

My first playthrough I gathered 6 coins, but wasn't able to spend them because I didn't understand the controls. I got there on the second playthrough, but suddenly having to use a mouse to select an upgrade was a weird design decision. I would have preferred walking into the shoes/hammer.

I was able to purchase the shoes, but didn't notice an upgrade to my speed. I couldn't also upgrade the recycling because the game ended before then.

And that's kinda my biggest gripe with this game - seems like whatever I do the tide eventually just reaches the top of the screen and kills me. If it weren't for that, I could see this as a really fun game where you increase your speed while the trash collects further and further away from shore, forcing you to get the speed upgrades so you can reach it before the tide comes in. Then you have to spend some coins to push the level of the tide back so you don't die, and upgrade the recycler so it can keep generating you cash. Those are some very slight changes that could have improved this game immensely.

I would also like a counter for how much trash I'm carrying.

The graphics are fantastic, and the game feels great (if a little repetitive) in a steamworld dig sort of way, where you dive into the depths to collect resources to then upgrade how well and how deep you can dive. The execution feels great. It's just the design that I have a gripe with. All in all this is a good entry.

Interesting idea, however the game became repetitive quickly.

Art style is great, and a fun gameplay at first.

Good job! :)

fryderider 2018-08-13 11:53

I see you also made a game about recycling

Really like the art style, and the gameplay is fun. Good job!

@fryderider @machrom @dangogamedev @wekaj @jasper-hansen Thank you all, @amras0000 Thank you for the great feedback, i did indeed notice the water keeps rising no matter what. I will try to fix that and add the upgrade/buyable to lower the water again. And i'll see what i can do about the upgrade mechanics

So much fun, I love the art! The gameplay is a lot of fun :)

call-me-nutty 2018-08-13 13:27

Fun game albeit as @jasper-hansen said it gets repetitive after a few minutes of play. I love the visuals and some music and sound effects would've really made the beach come to life.

ngupsilon 2018-08-13 15:17

Really cute artistic direction <3 The gameplay is quite repetitive but it's still fun.

If you continue the game, you should add a scoring system to motivate the player, and maybe make the difficulty raises quicker, so it stays as challenging as it is on the start.

I think you need to add a score system that would improve the game a lot. Also the thing that takes the trash shouldn't take so long to process the trash because after a while you just have a bunch of trash you are waiting to dispense.

furiouswitch 2018-08-28 08:54

Looks lovely from the screen shots! I would love to play it if you export a web or Linux build :)

stephano 2018-08-28 11:47

@furiouswitch I will update the game soon, when i update it i will add a web version too!

furiouswitch 2018-08-28 20:27

Thank you. If you are going to make changes after the jam please be sure to add links to both versions so that I can rate the jam version and also play the post-jam version.

saoi-games 2018-08-29 06:51

Good job on the artwork. The level itself was easy to understand at first, but not entirely sure why I couldn't get wet.

The ocean was mean and moved the beach line. Totally uncool of the ocean!

I liked the theme and how everything fits together. However, I wish you'd added a soundtrack. It would have enhanced the experience.

stephano 2018-08-29 09:20

@furiouswitch Will do. @saoi-games Thnx, and i know, music or any sound at all would've made it better, sadly i'm not really experienced with sound design.

stephano 2018-09-03 10:46

@furiouswitch Bad news, i couldn't find my ludum dare version and i discovered i don't have the HTML export module for GM 1.4, so i won't be able to upload a web version.

stephano 2018-09-03 17:46

@amras0000 @yamiog @ngupsilon I took your advice and feedback and now uploaded a 0.2 version. This version changes some gameplay aspects and added a score system. I also added xbox controller support. Still no music, I am sorry for this :/
