Sorry guys! The link is working now :)
I don't know if it's me or if something's not working as it should, but I kept getting the words to turn green only to have "..." appear in the speech below.
For replayability, I'd recommend including an option to skip the lengthy opening cutscene so that players can get to playing your game faster (especially if and when they've already seen the opening cutscene once).
Cryly was really personal but in the end I won the most votes. A fun game with good humor, made me question my typing skills. Well done
I'm not sure I was playing correctly but the idea and dialogue was really funny!
I really liked this game, really innovative take on the theme. I had a lot of fun with it but I felt like the speech bubble might have been a little too high. I couldn't type some of the longer words in time and I am a fairly fast typer. Would be good to be able to skip the opening scene too.
Very original game ! Typing fast is definitely needed in this game but fun to play. The art is also pretty cool !
Great interpretation of the theme, really creative. I found it tough keeping up, kept wanting to press enter instead of space through habit. Nice work :)
The space bar to speak mechanic does not seem to be working or may be I was misunderstanding which bubble to press space in. I would have like to be able to win :(
I suck at typing D:
Although I really liked the idea and the humor :)
An original approach to the theme. I like the pixel art! Simple but effective.
The only thing, though, for replayability, I'd add some control to skip instructions.
My first speech to the student body, verbatim:
"..............................Detention......Teachers..."
(I didn't understand I was supposed to press spacebar when the words entered the cloud rather than when they hit the speech bubble underneath, and so I lost the majority of my words.)
Incredible game, 100000/10 for making me bust a gut laughing at myself.
404 on the embedded link, but the itch one works.
"Riley, though everyone calls her Cryly" made me chuckle. I really like how you set up the story at the start. Having the words fall is hilarious. I couldn't figure out the controls at first and got claps for a bunch of "umm umm ....."s xD
I gave it a play and love the concept! A very fun game with lots of humor.
Fun concept. I'm not a very good typer but I swear sometimes the space bar wasn't being responsive. Still fun though. The dialog was funny and the art style was well done. Great job!
ohhh i really like the way you executed this concept! the art and writing is very charming, i could really feel the high school-level shade being thrown hahaha. the scoring is interesting... i like that there's a hidden parameter besides the delivery/typing speed that influences if you'll win. cryly absolutely wrecked me even though i typed very fast, but it's ok cus it was fun trying to figure out the right thing to say :'3
the typing mechanism seems to be a bit glitchy, for example i often found myself having to press space twice to get it to submit and sometimes i wouldn't be able to type at all. wanted to let you know that updating your game with bugfixes are permitted in this game jam, so i really think you should take the opportunity to fix that part up since it's a core component! if that were fixed, i think the game would be a lot more fun!
This is a really fun take on the theme! It's a really interesting. I had some trouble with the game registering my inputs at times, having to e.g. double-press space before words would be chosen. Sometimes it also wasn't clear that you had to press space to continue, so I'd make that into a subtle prompt! Aside from that though, kudos, this is very nice.
