Great visuals for a game made in so limited time! Congrats
Fun to play, the tutorial and the introduction of mechanics in each level is very well made for a compo game.
Solid entry, good work!
After spending a lot of time with a piece of paper and a pencil (even asking chatgpt after that), I still couldn't resolve the third screen :(.
Could you check if there are any bugs in "wsha'ngesth ph'lucs"? (I tried a lot of combinations..)
Overall the music suits very well the mood of the game. The game it's challenging but fun if you like this kind of things.
However, I would suggest making the tips shown to the user automatically after some time (I couldn't figure out that the 2 on the bookmarke would give you tips so easily). And since this is a jam, I would made the game more user-friendly to give feedback if the almost player gets some words.
@k8n glad to be helpful :)
I like the mechanics and the overall feeling of the game. I think it would be even more addictive if more levels were added. The introduction of new enemies in the later levels keeps the game interesting until you reach level 10.
Good job!
Great job!
The mood of the game is very cool. I'ts like playing a good ol platformer.
I almost expend more time exiting the game than playing
Cool graphics. I like the idea of the game, and the audio suits the game very well.
There is no ui element that let me know how much time I have left, and I think it would be better for feedback to the player. I think the controls should be something more memorable, because A, Z, X, seem a little arbitrary to me, and I need to check the instructions from time to time.
Overall a nice game, great job!
I'ts always nice to have a volume control, an a nice tutorial. The music fits the moood of the game
Very funny game!
I miss some health bar to know how much hits I can receive before I die, but overall cool game!
Very polished for a game made in under 72 hours. Good UI and very clear.
The only thing, to be picky, is that the cursor has no interaction as far as I've seen, so I'd avoid showing it.
Once you get used to the controls, it's nice to play. Camera sometimes make things a little more difficult.
I like the idea of people dancing before receiving pizza lol
Good work for self-driving card. It was funny to get stuck running over a cat like 10 times
At first didn't understand the arrow, was pointing to my truck. When you reach the destination you are supposed to hold there?
I really like the gameplay, it's such fun trying to master. The art is nice!
I think there is a bug though. If you pause the game and then click restart, a red stamina bar shows in the hands and you cannot start playing (at least I could not figure out how to start playing again after the red stamina bar appeared). After falling down, when the restart screen is shown, I can start to play again.
I miss a button to quick restart, as well.
Simple yet effective, good entry!
I miss some end of game screen to better know when the game ends. Could be a typo when you lose? It sais "reaplay"
Great theme for the background! Overall is very polished
The sound when you pick things it's a little low compared with the audio of the background (web build at least), because at first I didn't know if I picked something or not. Later I realize the sound, maybe some UI element could give more feedback
An original approach to the theme. I like the pixel art! Simple but effective.
The only thing, though, for replayability, I'd add some control to skip instructions.
@larrymartinjr yeah totally, the boat control has lots of room for improvement
Thanks for the feedback
@nicso maybe they think that you have the guilty look ;)
It makes a lot of sense to be innocent if you boat were empty, thanks for the comment!
@marcodeevil those are great ideas, thanks for the suggestions
@floralvikings being my first game, I run a little short on time, but I will use the feedback for the next one, thanks!
@elisagonda the game is a little unbalance, I think it's a little difficult in the begining until you figure out enemies movement pattern
Thanks for the feedback!
@devil-ovo oh, great point, I didn't realize that!
Thanks for the feedbak, the next one will be better
@lexuor as a tip, the routes that they navigate are always the same.
I think the difficult at the beggining, as you said, should be a little more approachable.
Thanks for the feedback
@uppitydonkey57 controls are a little bit unpolished, so I know what kind of things I need to improve for the next ludum dare
Thanks for taking the time to play and post your feedback!
@waptaincaffles thanks for taking the time to give me feedback, next game will be better thanks to you ;)
This is quite fun! However, I couldn't figure it out, does the bark do something?
Very polished for first game! Congrats.
Been able to pick fuel is a good mechanic to keep going .
Great game. Very polished! I liked the art style.
I would have preferred to be able to hit 'play' and immediately understand the controls, as I had to go back and search for the tutorial during my first playthrough.
Relaxing game. I like the idea and the soundtrack matches the style.
Sometimes it's difficult to know what squares were filled up, because some images are a little outside the square of the piece they represent. I think a simple litle change in the color of the background squares should be enough for some feedback of empty/fill squares.
Overall I liked it, good job!
@ScaryTreeGames I couldn't figure it out how to handle this, because I din't want to put a color square under the message, too basic. I agree that could be improved visually in some way but in the end I just neeeded to cut project scope
Thanks for reviewing!
@peredom I tried to balance the game, but I agree with you, is not so challenging. The idea was that you have more space but placing the pieces would give you less extra time. Thus, the game should be more challenging at the end because you need to be faster placing the pieces.
I decided the piece selector since you are not enforce to place the items in the order that they arrive, so sometimes you wait a little bit and place the same piece several times at once. Maybe the interface should convey that you don't need to put pieces in order...
Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it
Simple yet effective game!
I would like the controls no be specified in the game or the submission, but they were pretty straighforward anyway
The issue with getting hit is that sometimes, after respawning, you automatically get hit again, resulting in losing all three lives with only one hit. Adding a respawn immunity could be a great way to avoid this.
Very polished entry. Controls and the game loop work well. Maybe checkpoints are a little too far apart.
I found a bug, I don't know how, but when I died I think pressing a left/right arrow made the drone start leaning. So, every restart at the checkpoint I died automatically, I spent a little bit seing how I died over and over .
God job overall
Very fun game, solid entry. The game is challenging, but the controls are very responsive.
I think a system with checkpoints would be useful, perhaps with an option to enable it. Also, the timing to obtain the wings is a bit tight for my taste
I really like the art and the music, good game!
After playing a while, the strategy was to merge 2 pieces and then going with this big piece gathering the others. If you want to emphasize the opposites I would make match all whites an blacks first through gameplay.
Interesting idea! Do you plan to develop further this? I think you should!
I liked the music theme! It would be great to have another one, or one a little more long, because for the whole game is a little too short for my taste. The introduction of mechanics step by step is easy to understand, well done. A button or some key to accelerate turns a little bit could be useful, specially on the last level Overall, a solid entry
Solid entry for the compo. Having a full little story that is complete is nice.
The combat with rats could be a little bit longer, I wanted more! Gathering rats holding space instead of pressing space for every one of them would be nicer.
I really liked the music of this game, very well suited. I also enjoy the graphics, quite a unique style.
The only thing I missed was a counter to know how many demons I have left.
A gray screen appears at the end, is it a bug?
Great game, I liked the music a lot, it reminds me to "charmed" show. The music and the demons trigger the memory for me
I know it's a jam game, but I would introduce the banish mechanic after playing a while, with some in game tutorial rather than explaining all together at the beginning. Playing this game with a gamepad could be easier.
Very fun to play! An addictive one.
I think that being the background green, enemies should be of other color because sometimes is difficult to track them.
Solid core gameplay mechanic, congrats for finishing the game. As others has suggested, I feel it difficult for my taste, but overall the feeling is good. Maybe a little bit of coyote time would help for those tight jumps.
Great game! I don't know how you manage to make this kind of appealing games in so little time. The feedback when you cannot set a new point and the music, all fits very well. The only thing I would suggest is undoing with secondary click of the mouse instead of backspace, easier to handle. It's strange, but if you use the wheel of the mouse, it handles it like a left click as well .
Great atmosphere, well-made! I loved the art . Mechanics are well design as well, interesting puzzle game.
I feel like the turns could be faster, wait between every play feels slow, I want to place tiles faster to play more :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:!
Cool game, I enjoyed the controls of the boat and how it moves. The musics sound like retirement already in the beach ;D
Very original idea!! I liked it a lot. Good sound feedback and car design, minimalistic .
I think it would be very cool if the stocks panel was in the wall, visible at all times like it was Wall Street . Simplify the controls with mouse buttons could be more comfortable and would be simpler.
Funny game. The autogeneration of levels makes some quite funny compositions.
Cool game , core loop is working. Having achievements for a compo game is incredible. I feel like the cooldown of the dash is a little too much. I would try to use it as part of the mechanic of the game loop.
I liked the double mechanic, wolves/sheep. sound effects, for these kinds of game jams are the best . It took me a while to realize the lives and how to lose them.
Little tip: to avoid the font to be blurry in this kind of pixel art games is better to use a pixel font (they usually come at 8 pixels height and can scale in powers of 2 without being blurry: 8, 16, 32)
The idea is cool and the gameloop works. You get sometimes stuck but no big deal. Some kind of visual cue about the level you are on would be great. No dialogues were shown in my gameplay though, but I see them on the screenshots
Great game, very big for a compo game, congratulations! The core loop is challenging but interesting. It remembered my of "Ambidextro" game.
I'd suggest keeping the arrows always visible, it would help my mind not to break as much .
@discjokk well, 2 hours left to submit, and I only had my mic and my voice/hands . I think, some more hacky, old 80 bip bop sound in the game could fit better.
A lot of complaints about level 2, the RNG has bad balance, thanks for the feedback.
@pegasys @pixel-studios Thanks for playing
@deadcode I had in mind more mechanics, the one you mentioned as well, but time... :sob:. I think I'm going to improve the game after jam, because there are a couple of mechanics I would like to implement
@naru @dr-braur @lastuck @deadcode thanks for playing :D
@milq I was planning at some point to start using C and SDL/sokol/raylib as well. Godot it's a cool engine and being open source is superb, but in the end I feel like too much click here and there, I want to just write code!
Cozy game, I liked the art congratulations on finishing the game. The game got stuck after the 3 day in the web version, it just got freeze without any error .
Small suggestions: I think that maybe not waiting for the orders and serve orders in parallel will make the game more interactive. I would add some interactivity to the preparation of the coffee as well. Maybe drag the coffee to the cup from the machine, or something like that.
Good music! I would consider delaying the particles on enemies after shot to give realism about the distance. Some audio effects on walk and shot would be nice as well.
Congratulations on such an amazing and polished game! I could be shooting all day, hearing those bubble noises. You achieved a good gameplay feeling with music, effects and feedback.
I have some suggestions: * At first, I thought the V was the letter V instead of an arrow  * It's strange to shoot and move with awsd and arrows and then use the mouse to select cards, using the keyboard for everything would be more comfortable * I would make bigger the feedback when you hurt an enemy. When they hurt you, you feel it with the screen shake but when you hurt them no so much * Quoting "Level Up!: The Guide to Great Video Game Design" by Scott Rogers "walking is never, ever gameplay". When you need to gather pieces, I would at least make them move or make some kind of interaction.
I liked the style of the game, very enjoyable. The attack animation is very similar to the walk animation so it's a bit difficult if you're attacking or not.
Pretty cool Celeste vibes. I liked the pixel art and the first song in the game reminds me of the old pokemon games :). I feel like the game would benefit for playing with a gemapad. Overall I liked it, I spent quite some time playing but I didn't get as far as I liked to.
Some suggestions: * Make the dash along the current movement, sometimes I died because of a miss click and instead of going in the same direction as the character if I have not direction pressed the character goes to the right. * If you miss, click dash while you are climbing, you lose the dash without doing it. I will be more permissive here and avoid losing it. * Inform the user about the hat mechanic, which shows if you have a dash available or not. I realized because I played Celeste, but other players could not be aware. * I think the difficulty curve is too steep at the beginning, I would present some forgiving levels to get used to the controls first.
Excellent art. I loved the idea of collecting taxes. Some suggestions: * I think the time you wait is too much, I like the animated transitions between night/day, but I fell like I waited a lot of the playtime * The balance is a lit bit off, I ended collection for 1 shrine every night and then put it near the creature's nest. Maybe some kind of penalties to do this abusive strategy? * I think killing creatures could be more satisfying, some kill animation (I know is jam game so fitting those is expensive), maybe see with the camera all the kills you did
Banger music! I really liked how well executed is the game, core loop is there and it works. The art was very funny, I smile and laugh a couple of times. Good work!
It's a plus for a game so short to have mute/sound .
Small suggestions: * The game will flow more if the character doesn't stop at everything that eats * The animation when you eat something is very quick, I don't realize how much I've eaten, maybe a combination between slower and some animation on the counter would help
