LD53 — Delivery

Sails by ping78 2023-05-04T13:53:05Z

Very cool! Always nice to see more sailing-type games, there's not enough of those out there.

I really like that the terrain is procedurally generated, it's a very nice touch. The map is also really nice! (Although I think the player's color could be a bit brighter, so it's easier to see where you are)

I did feel that the enemy count was slightly high, I ended up getting swarmed quite often. Instead of many ships that do a little damage, I feel it might make more sense to have fewer ships which deal more damage? So that their individual danger is higher.

Bad News Network by ZeAntwan 2023-05-04T14:34:17Z

The headlines are well written, and it's a very creative idea for a game for this theme! The news stories "pop" onto the screen in a satisfying way. As others have said though, it's quite easy to find a pattern that provides an endless "victory", so the stakes don't feel very high.

Lame Duck Delivery Service! by zxeno 2023-05-04T15:00:13Z

This is nice! As others have said, it's easy to drop off cargo where you got it, rinse and repeat - but I actually found that that has its own merits, sort of like a clicker/idle game. The space physics are cool, it's nice that you have a marker that shows you your velocity, helps a lot.

God's plan by Raoph 2023-05-04T14:26:54Z

Very chill! It would've been nice to know where delivery men are going per trip, so you can help them out each time. Aside from that though... I had a revelation when I figured out you can stack buildings! Dragging and dropping was a very fun mechanic to mess around with.

Gullliver by ThorPalsson 2023-05-04T14:13:22Z

This is really interesting. I dig the aesthetic and mood, it has something very Lovecraft / Arrival about it (the latter for the spacecraft especially), with its dark, coastal vibes. The gameplay isn't very smooth yet (attacking is a bit clumsy imho, and it's not quite clear what the special ability is?), but I'd argue that doesn't really matter in this context - because I was walking around the world, curious about what I'd find, reading every message I could! I also really like the 'lighthouse motif', how it's used for various pieces of the scenery.

DECRYPTOR by Bastinus Rex 2023-05-02T06:02:00Z

I'm in love with the mood of this game! It's very eerie and mysterious... I like how the story involves two characters that approach their communication with you from different angles (one being more distant, one more personal), it improves the pacing and makes the characters more human. The art/music and post-processing is also very well done to help support the eerie vibe! (Spoilers) the "pit" and the dark vibe of the last pillar even gave me some outer wilds feelings...

Some points of feedback: - I felt having to click to take every step was starting to strain my hand by the end - maybe just hold to move? - (Spoilers) I thought one of the keys shown in the final phase of the game was left arrow, not backspace (since on some keyboards this is just written "Backspace", not <-) so I spent a lot of time very confused about what to do. It'd be better if this was less ambiguous!

Hell'o-Cargo by agudar 2023-05-02T05:23:48Z

Really cool and a delightful mix of creepy/cute! I really dig the aesthetic and sound choices along with the satisfying gameplay. The animation had some very nice squash & stretch, and the levels themselves were also very well designed, with a hook and a catch! I'd say that a button to restart levels instead of having to kill oneself would reduce some tedium though.

Voxel Delivery by DocStep 2023-05-02T05:34:16Z

A nice endless runner! I like how the world is curved like a globe, and different types of game objects (e.g. fire hydrants and barriers) randomly generate in their own locations (e.g. sidewalks, roads) - it gives the world more detail than if everything was entirely random. I'd have tried to incorporate the theme a little more (maybe you need to interact with mailboxes along the way?), and especially put some music under it! That would add a lot.

Personal Delivery Conglomerateā„¢ by chybby 2023-05-04T15:26:30Z

Really fun! The music and art make for a cozy atmosphere, and that combined with playing around with the (slightly buggy) godot physics works well together! I like all the small touches like rattling sounds when you shake packages, and the interactions with the customers. That said, I think the customers do look a little creepy (their eyes stare into my soul) - and the boss' talking sound has a similar frequency to the background music, so it blends and creates dissonance! I would either raise or lower the pitch of the talking substantially.

POSTLORD by zimonitrome 2023-05-04T14:45:23Z

Really fun, I think this is the most mechanically enjoyable game I played this jam! The movement is really goofy and hard to control, but in a good way. The art of the postman boss is also really well done! The one thing that confused me a bit is _when_ you can and cannot grab onto packages, that felt a bit unintuitive. Aside from that, very fun entry!

Blast Belt by aaron7eleven 2023-05-02T05:01:56Z

This is cool! I think the game could do with a tiny bit more explanation up front (the aim is to move blocks, right click to rotate...) but the process of setting up belts under time pressure, and changing them to deliver different colored balls was fun! :)

Election Day by prachi 2023-05-04T15:10:30Z

This is a really fun take on the theme! It's a really interesting. I had some trouble with the game registering my inputs at times, having to e.g. double-press space before words would be chosen. Sometimes it also wasn't clear that you had to press space to continue, so I'd make that into a subtle prompt! Aside from that though, kudos, this is very nice.
