Nice Idea and I think also quite a good implementation. The cats are a nice twist to the pizza delivery mechanic, but I found it a bit too easy to kite them, so I rarely needed to throw them a slice.
Neat game! To improve it I would try to make the colliders match up more to the sprites
Hi! so the webGL version won't load up for me, or at least I didn't realized how to make it start :( I'm using Macbook M1 laptop

@bmanstudio Hello there, there is a known bug on Ludum Dare platform with html exported games created on LibGDX. I was not able to make it work, therefore I would appreciate if you tried the game on itch.io (https://thestbar.itch.io/pizza-cat). Thank you very much!!
@obittner Thanks a lot for your feedback! Sure the fact that the speed of the cats does not scale as the time goes by into the game creates this problem. Also, I think that probably if I add a little bit variation on the speed of the cats it would be even better since now you can stack all of them together (they use A* pathfinding to find the most optimal path to your position. Anyway, much appreciated for your feedback I will try to make some improvements!
@wilko Hello friend, thanks a lot for your feedback. The mistake I did is that since I build a grid/tile system to handle the collisions and the movements of all the objects I made whole tiles as "player can walk" or "player cannot walk on them". It would be better if I change it to use simple rectangles for collisions!!!
This town really does seem to have a cat problem
Interesting mechanic to let the player sacrifice some rewards in order to make it easier to move, or try to hold onto all pizza slices but instead risk losing even more. As others have said before me the collision boxes need some work to make getting stuck on corners less common as well as adding something to make the game more difficult as time progresses.
Other than that the music was pleasing to listen to and the pixel art was pretty neat. (those cats were adorable )
Fun game! Honestly, the happy cat with pizza animation was so cute I almost wanted to just let them have it all. A possible suggestion is if the cats only followed the player when they are carrying pizza, otherwise they randomly wander to spread? I found an effective strategy to be to stand in one corner of the map between orders to attract all the cats to give me a clear run on the next delivery, so maybe something like that could counter that. I really liked the mechanic of throwing one slice to avoid losing several, it made for some interesting trade-off and risk taking decisions which was cool.
@aevek Wow, I think you just had a great idea!!! Such a small detail I think will add much much more "life" to the game. Thanks for the suggestion it will be prioritized :) Also, thanks a lot for your feedback!!!
The cats are adorable. Some deliveries in, I found myself just giving the cats slices of pizza to eat instead of actually delivering, lol
interesting game! I liked the mechanics of the cat but I think it was too easy/repetitive. Although, I had a good time playing it. Congrats!
When you get a shitload of cats, you can stack them up and when you walk into them, you'll get an earrape of meowing. And I don't mind
Maybe a few tips: * When you make a game with pixelart it looks the best when you also use a font in pixelart-style. * Seeing a score during the game would make it a bit more satisfying to deliver. * Now when you interact with the house that wants pizza, it doesn't really mind how many slices you have. It maybe makes it more challenging when you have to come back to an house to finish the order?
Intersting idea, game seems to be endless though? Sometimes controlls felt like a bit sticky. Kited whole army of cats around the place... they were literally taking half of my screen >_< but got no issues just to gather them all up, take pizza and run to next building. Only rarelly i would throw piece at a cat that is spawning somewhere I need to go.
Would love more feedback (sound?) for picking and delivering pizza. And maybe 'total score' as well, since timer seemed to be endless if you deliver everything.
Oh and Herding Cats would fit the gameplay more hahaha! Its best way of pizza delievery here anyhow!
There was something enjoyable about running around following an arrow along the road (though the road had no effect?) and avoiding the cats. The music helped a lot. Something to add stakes would be good, like a score or things changing besides spawning cats.
@barce Thanks for your feedback! Actually I am planning to add scaled movement speed to the cats and also some variation on their movement speed to make the game more challenging and the cats more interesting! Again, thank you very much for your kind words!
@the-martijn Thanks for the feedback! Really appreciated it.
Indeed, I think it is not very good to the eye the fact that I use the default LibGDX fonts. It was a pain in the arse just to make them work and behave as I wanted :D For sure I will try to change them it will be a very nice addition and add a total score bar that says maybe on how many houses you brought pizza or something like this. Again your thought on how the delivery will be more interactive is really smart and I will try to implement it.
Again, thanks a lot for the feedback! Peace and love :)
@benk Thanks for the feedback. It is really appreciated!
I am actually trying to find ways to make the game more immersive. Maybe add a little bit more challenge to the player as well as give more life to the environment somehow.
Love the twist of having the cats try to take your pizza! The player and building hitboxes are a bit big, so I found myself bumping into them often.
It will be loud if you feed a lot of cats
Simple, but super fun! As other commenters have mentioned, the hitboxes are a bit big and made it difficult to navigate the map before I got used to it, but after that running around delivering pizza was super great. I love how clever the pizza being your 'health' as well as your 'ammo' is.
Nice pizza-cat game. I would recommend you a softer pixelart pallette as the textures are so harsh. Only delivered 4 pizzas. Good job!
Awesomely cute game! I was really expecting to take damage from the cats or get a game over. I love that it subverts expectation. The audio matches the game perfectly.
nice I also used libgdx! :)) I love the cats
Now that's adorable. The cats were camping out the pizza joint, I should have more patiently herded them, but got 4 or 5 pizzas delivered. The hitbox on some of the obstacles caught me off guard (at least I'm assuming that's why I kept stopping at the fountain.)
As someone who enjoys both pizza and cats this one was a real treat. I managed to deliver 30 pizzas before being overwhelmed by the feline horde. Doing well at this game is like herding cats!
I love the care you put into the art with sprites and the map. Quite a fun and cute little game. Good work!!!
Fun little game, i didn't quite get what is the deal with trowing pizza to cats, and what it was supposed to do, but the errape sound that cats made whet you gave pizza to 12 of them at once rally made me laught. Art style and music match the overall goofy mood. I like it, good job.
