The song was awesome and the pixel art was cute

radgegames 2023-05-02 01:24

Thank you so much!

realwangziyang 2023-05-02 01:25

Very cute pixel style with lots of details.

radgegames 2023-05-02 01:32

@realwangziyang I appreciate you taking the time to judge!

tanner-staheli 2023-05-02 01:33

I liked the scrolling camera view it felt like I was playing on an old tv :)

radgegames 2023-05-02 01:37

@tanner-staheli thank you that was a last minute add I thought it looked good

stephen-kyranakis 2023-05-02 04:40

I think the art is cool. I do think that it was pretty hard, especially since the enemies seem to be able to shoot at you from offscreen. I really enjoyed the distorted screen effect! Well done

nuin 2023-05-02 05:15

cute art style, loved murdering people

radgegames 2023-05-02 05:19

@nuin thanks, just wanted to do my best to represent the pizza delivery community

sledzik 2023-05-02 08:32

Nice game, little bit hard to dodge enemies but I found out that if you aim far enough you can shoot through the walls so I managed to kill some enemies, realy pleasing music.

calicobubbletea 2023-05-02 18:08

Good art style and music. Shooting is fun but it's a bit hard for me to aim while moving.

radgegames 2023-05-02 21:40

@sledzik thank you for letting me know I hadn't come across that bug but sometimes enemies from behind the wall can get shots through they must be far enough away. I knew it was hard to dodge enemies because of how dense every room ended up being but didn't have the time to make bigger rooms unfortunately. Thank you for playing and providing constructive criticism

skullyy 2023-05-04 10:44

Love the pixel art and the interactions. Aiming is a bit jaggery but can be fixed later. Overall good job man!!

radgegames 2023-05-04 17:45

@skullyy Thanks I appreciate that!

affinitychris 2023-05-05 03:37

It was fun! I wasn't sure what some of the upgrades did, but I played through a few rounds :)

radgegames 2023-05-05 04:17

@affinitychris Yay! I'm glad someone made it through a few rounds, I actually found it to be quite fun myself once I got better at it. I liked the idea of vague descriptions for what upgrades do but I can see how that would be frustrating. Either way, I'm glad you enjoyed!

dongle 2023-05-05 05:06

I played your game and I must say, it's both challenging and fun! It did take me a little while to get used to the shot speed of the enemies, but once I did, it became even more engaging. I also really enjoyed the song you chose for the game - it fit perfectly with the gameplay and added to the overall experience. Great job!

sarah-alexa 2023-05-08 21:43

This was fun! I liked the little details like goo at the bottom of some vents and the CRT warping effect on the screen. I would love to see some visual feedback on enemies and the player being hit and maybe slower enemy projectiles in favour of higher numbers, and to know what upgrades are doing when we get them I enjoyed running about, taking cover and taking out as many as I could. For the boss, it was a bit too easy to cheese by firing from outside the room but it was great seeing bullet patterns from it and it was pretty fun to fight.

I liked the sprites, the music was fitting and I kept playing once I was done! Very nicely done! Oh and the main character's name is great!

radgegames 2023-05-09 07:52

@sarah-alexa Thank you so much for some great feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yeah I knew the boss was too easy but I ran out of time of course. And stay tuned, this might not be the last we see of Toni Pepparhoney

chris-chen 2023-05-09 09:28

Neat little game, the art and music were well done. Could be a lot of fun if there was time to add some polish! It took me a couple of loops to realise what the upgrades were doing, at first I wasn't sure if they were just temporary powerups or if they were even having any effect on me, so some text saying what each one does would be nice. Also, maybe this was a symptom of short dev time but it was weird that the bullet speed was variable based on the distance of the mouse from the character, and the distance from enemies to the player. I think having set bullet speeds would feel better and more natural. Also sometimes me and the enemies managed to shoot through the walls. Some simple sound effects would also go a long way, but I understand that's not a high priority for things like this.

Overall I think it's a cool game with promise, well done!

radgegames 2023-05-09 10:29

@chris-chen thank you for playing my entry, I noticed that the bullet speed changed on the distance of the mouse much too late and I'm fairly certain I know how to fix it but yes, most issues are mainly from short development time. The biggest issue with this jam was that I couldn't decide how I wanted to handle procedural generation. I basically built three different procedural generation systems, one directly drawing on tilemaps that could have created massive dungeons I wanted to use but it needed too much polish and low-level concepts so I couldn't use it because time. Regardless I'm glad you enjoyed my entry and I'm toying with the idea of taking the project further with my monogame "engine", so keep an eye out for more from Toni Pepparhoney

I get huge Binding of Isaac vibes from this one, with great visuals (LOVED the CRT screen bulge!), fantastic audio, and really tight controls.

Really great work, I can tell you put a lot of effort into making the game *feel* nice to play!

radgegames 2023-05-09 13:14

@shane-gadsby thank you shane, yeah I do like the look and with a little polish I think I could make it feel even better, I just wish I didn't waste a ton of time making procedural generation systems. Either way, thank you for rating and playing my game!

shane-gadsby 2023-05-09 13:25

@radgegames I hear ya, it's so hard to accurately prioritise needs and wants in the moment, and sometimes a feature that seems like the quick fix for something wastes like 6 hours of your time, haha

codexzier 2023-05-09 17:47

Audio doesn't have to be with such a short development. I always see that as a bonus. :smirk:

sarah-alexa 2023-05-09 21:50

@radgegames Time limits can be evil at times but it was still great regardless!

mavvy 2023-05-13 18:51

First of all, great music! Second, wow the visual fidelity! I like the pixel art and the old-school monitor effect. Combined with the room structure, it made me feel I was playing something like Gauntlet or Smash TV. It took a minute to get the various idiosyncrasies, but I feel once you "get" it, there's something really fun in here.

Also, bonus points for the description. The moment I read "Toni Pepparhoney" I just **had** to play this.
