Love the theme and retro vibe. The vehicle controls and camera motion feel nice and smooth. Great work! I posted a video of me playing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STKhajT0xys

quixx 2017-07-31 12:35

I Love the neon style. Really on point!

falk-bruskeland 2017-07-31 12:37

Fun casual game you can pick up and play! I love the sound effects when you start the car xD

swifttech 2017-07-31 12:40

Alot of fun! Love the graphics, took me some time to get able to control the car in hardcore but it works :)

oxrock 2017-07-31 12:43

I like the aesthetic of the game a lot, and the music goes with it perfectly. I couldn't figure out how to reverse unfortunately and I sadly needed it a lot. Hitting back to in attempts to reverse out of bad situations simply drained my battery :( Overall it's a good pickup and play little game.

ikstreamivo 2017-07-31 12:43

Super cool :D

noxim 2017-07-31 12:45

Very nice aesthetics! I enjoyed it quite a lot. I found it little difficult though, and I wasn't even on hardcore. That doesn't mean its bad, just pointing it out.

manafest 2017-07-31 12:46

Really liked the neon visuals and groovy music. I especially enjoyed that you had to press that start button in the car and that the UI was in the game on the car.

remco 2017-07-31 12:55

Haha, the pedals are quite a bit different in this alternate neon '80s  I adore the atmosphere, music, visuals!

A couple of small remarks: - any already picked-up accu's (sometimes?) stay gone until you restart the entire game, is this intentional? - 'reverse' doesn't seem to listen to the steering wheel, OK for in a game but I'd never get in this car in real life!

Got to about 73 in 'hard-core mode'. I think 'hard-core' here is more challenging, fun an different, to the point I think you maybe should have left out the keys.

simple-ghost 2017-07-31 14:57

I really enjoy the overal 80's visual style. You really managed to capture it! That sun with stripes over it looks freakin awesome. My only problem was that I could not turn while driving backwards.

Thanks for making this. I had fun! :)

flobar 2017-07-31 15:34

This game looked promising from the first screengrab I saw. I love the 80 style and synthwave music. I can imagine a need for speed in this style, I'd flippin love it.

virtual-turtle-studio 2017-07-31 15:40

This is honestly the most addictive game I've played this whole jam. I TOTALLY DIG the artstyle and music. Controls take some getting used to but are intuitive after that. The only thing that could make this game better would be drifting for those sharp corners <3. But great job man, this should be rated way higher than it is!

fazz 2017-07-31 16:13

I got 75. Your graphics are great, love the 80s Neon, and I like how the car leans around corners, I felt myself leaning on my chain. Probably not the point, but it might be a bit easier if your turning circle was reduced at slower speeds, I crashed and had to restart quite a few times. Great job!

sn0uk 2017-07-31 17:00

Really nice art style and music, I think the turning on the car could be a bit faster but the speed of the car and the fov increase felt great. Nice work!

wispeh 2017-07-31 17:38

When I think of the words "electric" and "neon", this is exactly the kind of game that fits perfectly to those words. Lovely mood, and it looks lovely. The concept of driving around as fast as possible is great, and the car feels great to handle when going fast. My only problem with the car is the lack of reversing, and even slightly touching the environment is effectively an instant game over. Regardless, it's pretty solid :D

impbox 2017-07-31 18:12

Love the graphics and style! Music was nice too. The instructions were misleading however, you should mention you can use the keys to control instead of trying to use the mouse to control one pedal or steering at a time which is nearly unplayable. With keys it was quite nice. Would be awesome with a bit of drifting too. Didn't really feel that motivated about the batteries other than to keep playing a bit longer, there didn't seem much goal to it.

r3l0ad1 2017-07-31 19:10

Loved the graphics although i did have a glitch where my car wouldnt stop spinnin

kamikaziuk 2017-07-31 19:25

Thanks for all the feedback everyone! Yeah the reverse steering seems to be broke :(. Glad you're all enjoying it though.

ganbaregameskyle 2017-07-31 19:31

Yo, I dig that style.

perdugames 2017-07-31 22:26

The game was very good, the music also combined with the scenery.

mortus 2017-08-01 09:03

Very nice feel when playing, controlling the car is fun and rewarding. Of course I was playing hardcore mode exclusively. :D

I am a bit disappointed that you can't lock the pedals down with a fish or a badger or something though, that was half of the fun. :D

kamikaziuk 2017-08-01 09:16

@mortus haha yeah i should have put that in as an easter egg lol

antaresvaldemar 2017-08-01 12:52

Nice concept and aesthetic. Only a couple of minor criticisms. I was confused at first where the power meter was until I saw it behind the steering wheel. Doesn't make a lot of sense to have it obscured like that in my opinion but not a big deal. It would be nice to be able to turn properly while reversing but maybe this was a deliberate restriction on your part. It's pretty pleasant and satisfying to drive around and fun hunting for the next battery. Great work!

stitchesmagoo 2017-08-01 13:06

Super cool graphics. I do think there is dissonance between the chip tune to synthpop sound track. Otherwise a fun and atmospheric game.

pavelsovushkin 2017-08-01 16:17

I realy like art Style! I Want make somthing same in VR) Cheal my game man: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/scale-of-life

wviper3 2017-08-01 17:46

Great graphics. I kind of wish it was a third-person view but it's still a fun game. Great work!

dirkinz 2017-08-02 04:38

I loved the aesthetic of the game. I felt like not enough batteries spawned though and that it was often luck if you succeed rather than skill.

spacesparkle 2017-08-02 12:45

Strangely enough I think that the hardcore mode (I love it) is easier than normal. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: It encourages more careful driving. Got to about 80 points I think.

There are very few flaws in this entry, other than the inability to turn in reverse, no major problems. It's incredible how much you managed to create in 48 hours.

apace 2017-08-02 23:02

I love it! Absolutely love it. The car feels so smooth to drive, it's a lot of fun trying to master the mechanics and cut every corner and push the car to the limits! The music and the art fit perfectly together and create a nice, fitting atmosphere. Well done!

edmond00 2017-08-03 04:23

About 200 points using normal mode. The atmosphere is very good so even if the battery system wasn't challenging in normal mode, I enjoyed to simply drive the car in this scenery. I would like to play the same game in a bigger environment !

daepso 2017-08-03 08:29

I love the graphics and the music! The controls are very smooth. The "hard mode" is really fun  It's a pretty amazing game for only 48 hours of work. Congrats!

thygrrr 2017-08-03 12:51

A blast from the past, straight back to the 80s, where the world was no longer black and white, and not yet in sepia. T'was the golden age of Electric Neon!

Likes: - beautiful city design - lighting is spot on, feel like I'm cruising through Miami. Thanks for this short vacation! - simple music that gets the job done! inspiring what you can do with a couple of notes and two instruments :) - fits the theme really well

Try differently: - the engine sound is all on the left speaker... and could use more flange, sawtooth or reverb. - on wide screen, it's hard to pick up batteries because they seem to clip through the car at the left side - I now know for sure any car I buy must have a reverse gear

Overall: - great looking entry that fits the theme well - sooooo fucking EIGHTIES!

theflyingkeyboard 2017-08-03 12:53

Amazing game, idea is simple and fun. Music is awesome, graphics look very fun (nice 80's neon style). Game seems to be very polished. One of the best games I've played so far :)

rulrite 2017-08-03 12:59

Wow, you completely nailed the 80s aesthetic... It's a gorgeous game, so colourful and bright. You did a great job with game feel, too (I saw your post on the front page)! I think the car leaning and rotating helped a lot; it just felt very responsive. You managed to make the driving fun, and if it's fun just to move around in your game, you're doing something right. :D

I think it you were to develop this further, you could maybe look at tweaking the speed: it felt just a little too slow to me, especially with the wide turning circle - but maybe I was just getting better at playing! I also think that the steering should reset to neutral a little faster, when you stop pressing the key - it was strange to let go of A, for example, and keep going left.

Overall, I think it's fantastic and you should be very pleased with the result. It's so impressive to think you managed so much in only 48 hours. (And as a side note: your mouth sounds worked surprisingly well!)

verysoftwares 2017-08-03 13:05

The mouse controls are strange but make controlling your car very involving, I found that to be the best part of the game. Audiovisually very impressive, but I was left hoping for more gameplay goals.

pschichtel 2017-08-03 13:46

I really like the graphics style, but just as much do I dislike the repetitive sound effects. I especially like that you integrated status information in the game instead of showing bars or numbers on the game. The game play did not manage to keep my playing.

randomphantom 2017-08-03 13:54

Ooh, this game oozes aesthetic. Gorgeous eye candy, all that I wanted my game to achieve! I think the battery meter being hidden on the dashboard is the only critique, otherwise the game drives pretty good. Not to mention the cool soundtrack!

strangeryann 2017-08-03 14:16

Full 3D world in 72 hours is pretty incredible - also racing game (sorta) for a change! The controls are challenging but original - my main criticism would be that it doesn't technically stick with the theme so much - but good one. Loving the synthwave style or whatnot ^^

epono 2017-08-03 15:09

Nice graphics and steering controls

mathijs750 2017-08-05 10:38

I got 33. Well executed visuals. I missed the power meter on my first few runs though.

maggardjosh 2017-08-06 19:55

The neon style graphics of this game are spot on, super impressed with that. Controls were actually pretty fun, even though they were really difficult. Only complaint I have is that reversing doesn't obey the steering wheel and I expected it to. Great entry!

2017-08-07 13:28

Nice graphics, interesting game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XAlLzxVYeo

imphenzia 2017-08-17 19:49

I like the blue/cyan and magenta combo, been a fan of that since the CGA days =) The music was also fitting the visual theme. As for the game play, it sort of pushes on the fears that I have of using an electric car my self, feeling the panic about running out of juice! I was missing reverse gear and some radar like ability to know where to look for batteries. Over all, nice effort though and congratulations on making the game!

kerdelos 2017-08-17 19:51

Great aesthetic. The more enjoyable way to drive the car for me was using the mouse for the wheel and the keyboard to accelerate, brake. Sometimes the wheel seemed to not respond correctly though. Oh ! and I love the music and how the tempo slows down when your battery gets empty at the end !

yetman 2017-08-18 14:31

The visuals are awesome, I love it. The neon style of the city, the car interior and the post-processing effects are a feast for the eyes. I enjoyed the music a lot but I didn't like the sound effects. I know that the player can use the mouse to move so they need to see the interior but I wished if there was a mode where the outside would take more area of the screen instead of the car itself. The gameplay was nice too but i wished to be able to move backwards. Otherwise, the game is great.
