I am one of the boys now.
Sound design switching when being eaten or under lamplight was cool.

the sound design was good! I wish there was some sort of restart button but overall its challenging and the little red guys are cute!
Took a moment to figure out exactly what to do, but once i did it was neat. Interesting idea using enemies as a weapon. Also, a restart button would go a long way when you die. Cool game!
@jvinaysar & @ascenial I thought the variable mix thing would be easy... but... nope, it took my younger brother 7 hours of torment...! My sound design was just me making wretched noises into a microphone. No seriously. Oh, and The Boys appreciate your compliment.
Thanks, both of you, and I respect what you both created, good time.
@eerongal I distinctly remember mentioning that to bro, but he completely forgot...! Good to hear from you, and your own entry kicked ass...! Unfortunately, punching the Boys isn't a safe option, they like their finger food...
what a bunch of difficult but lovely boys
I am who gotham city needs, but doesnt deserve ! Animations are nice and controls feel great a restart button and a leave game button at the end would be nice but the game is fine as is !
Yeah, got a little overfaced by the last hours, there was plenty we wanted to implement that didn't get in and there's a few pretty major bugs. A restart button I forgot to do. But probably absolutely could have and should have done.
I was a little bit confused about the goal and the controls of the game.
fyi the game works under linux with wine. have you tried exporting for web?
There is a readme in the game file, additionally there are notes you can read with Q. I should have added indication you activate the books with Q.
And exporting for web? Maybe could do it later.
@brain-siege-gameworks No rules against patching some of the shoddier bits of the project. Consider adding a reset, menu, provide an actual indicator so the player knows what button to press for the notebooks, etc. Just some quality of life things. Would be ideal for the itch.io build. When you're ready of course.
The audio is quite fun, and despite the kind of tricky control, the game implements a fun system. It surprised me to see that this is a two-man-team work. Huge congratulations for making it playable!! The little monsters are cute also.
Don't mind me I'm just having problems with exporting to HTML. Trying to figure it out.
Ok hopefully that HTML export is alright.
I think the text is too big, I enjoy the music and that it gets louder
This ones for da boyz
I like the idea of using having both to avoid and lure The Boys to win. Tutorial could be done in a better way, but it is still pretty straightforward. Sound design and art style is nice)
So this is how you get rid of the crime, nice! Took me a while to figure out, but once I did, this was quite fun. And interesting switch to the music when you're becoming a boy too. Rough around the edges with good feedback above, but I would say very good for the first jam entry! Keep it going!
The visual style and art really caught my eye - it looks amazing.
Blame my artist for the artstyle.
I really liked this game! It's awesome!
For the boys back home, this is very cool
funny toy very cool I like it what a great guy
So funny and fun! I'm really love the boys <3
Finally! The ending bit was so damn annoying with that one dude camping the light. Could of had checkpoints on those lights. Then you could have gone even more bonkers with the difficulty of course.

Really liked the art. Very reminiscing of flash times. The boys looked cute and derpy. The music was pretty cool too, though I think it likes to glitch out and stack and play multiple duplicates at times. Sound effects fit the mood of the game well too, just could of used a bit more of em in my opinion.
The idea of the game was fun too and quite unique. Could easily build more interesting mechanics on top of these ideas to stretch out and polish the game more.
Sadly though, the controls and the base gameplay were a bit lackluster. Aiming was borderline impossible with the boys bouncing all over the place. Hitboxes were inaccurate as hell, sometimes the criminals swung at me from like quarter of a screenful away. And sometimes they seemed to do absolutely nothing even if I was kinda close. The boys very often phased out of visible existence but still were there which made it very annoying.
The shield mechanic to bounce the boys was neat but would need some more work. There is no downside to having it on all the time so why if bind it to a button? It'd need some usage meter, "parryish" thing where it'd be more effective at the start of using it or something along those lines.
Also having to press "interact" on those tutorials was pointless. Could have just activated when stepping on them. Hiding rest of the tutorial messages behind the most obscure button of them all was weird choice. And no restart option at all was also not great. Having to refresh the page every fail to try again did not feel great.
Anyways, fun game, good job! 👍
Yeah the game probably could have done with a lot more polish. But it was all that could be done in the short time frame. A lot of your points are quite valid. It had to be made in an unpolished way to fit the time. I didn't have time to remove the whole bugs with the boys detaching from things.
Also if any of you lot want to know how some of the mechanics were made ask away.
Haha, first time getting love from the boys was a beautiful experience. Great game jam game, I don't think my APMs where high enough soooo I got alot of loving! Art style was great!
Don't worry, it's overall quite hard anyways.
Works well - simple design and works as intended.
I like the unique art style, and gameplay. And being eaten alive by animals is a new way to interpret the theme lol! Well done!
well done, but could be better
A bit fast paced for me but cute boys!
@marco-santos I agree, it could absolutely be done better, but it was ultimately what we could get done in the time allotted.
It's so cute!Good game.
Hello! Interesting take on this jam! I love the concept, the boys are a bit fast and I had one that jumped on my character though he wasn't on screen. Almost as if he was invisible. Good luck and good submission!
Yeah that's a known bug, Couldn't reliably fix it in time.
I liked the gameplay and cartoony artstyle ^^ It was a bit hektic for me at the start because I didn't expect them to zoom through the room (i don't mean this in a bad, it adds to the game). I'm glad for the light safety zones
Loved and art and animations. Having multiple bois gang up on you is funny and looks great. Didn't connect to the gameplay itself unfortunately. Movement was way too slippery, and getting caught can sometimes lead to a buggy mess of getting stuck. With some debugging and polishing, I can see it being quite fun, the charm is already there(^:
I never felt so good about defeating crime before! It took me a while to figure out the shield mechanic, but once I did, it was really fun. The bois are the best :)

Hahahaha I was cheering to the dogs all the time... hahah Crime has been Defeated! Nice
I defeated crime, thanks to my good/bad boys! The animation in this was pretty fun. It reminded me of old cartoon network shows :D
