Squirrel puncher by eerongal 2024-10-08T01:04:36Z
Those squirrels got a REAL good pummelling. Didn't fall once. This is once of those games that's just silly, and unapologetic about it. Good fun.

4 on first attempt, 12 Morgis on replay. It's charming, has real good art direction. Come on now people, play the game, don't you want to help the Morgis too?!
451. Let it be known. It took FIVE tractors to stop that pesky rabbit...!
Pretty simple idea, but I did notice some clever ways you mixed it up too. The bad carrots that invert controls, the extra tractors... heck, I had the tractors spawning on the left side of the screen too by the 400 mark. Pretty cool.
Interesting concept. Wish there'd been better information though; I hadn't the foggiest idea what I was doing at first, and the lack of details on health and statistics meant you'd sometimes put down a character in a terrible place. Yes, I didn't put the bear in front the first time... No, it didn't end well.
Yeah, this is actually something pretty great. The addition of the vacc losing power if you use it too long made sense, the physics were pretty entertaining (especially how your catcher interacts with everything) but it could cause a pile up... I buried myself somehow chasing down one of the buggers. Yeah, I'm rating you all pretty high; for 3 days, this is impressively well done.
Got to give the unique art style some credit, it certainly made it stand out among the crowd. I can't blame you for any mistranslations or odd wordings, if english isn't your first language it isn't your first language, but there were a few moments where I wondered if I missed something you intended for me to know. Atmosphere and art are the strong sides of this one. Keep up the good work.
This was one moody looking game, it has a unique eerie atmosphere that works to it's advantage, with the light adding to the mood. The protag was a bit goofy looking, clashing with the style, and I noticed them shifting sizes quite often, the jump anim was noticeably smaller than the normal sprite. That said, it's clear that a lot was added to the project, and I ended up spending a little longer than expected. I only got to the 2nd map, but there's a good reason for it...
There are a couple of bits of criticism that must be made, because they did stand out to me: Sound is incredibly important, and for audio, there was a massive lack of sound effects. An absence of sound can make a project, sound and art are key for setting a mood, and the art was let down by total silence; even a subtle jump sound and some ambience could have helped massively. The music that turned up during the creature encounters was the only thing your ears get. Now for the other issue... I softlocked myself! I pushed a block, fell, died and found myself in a situation where I couldn't jump out of a pit...! My journey ended on the second map, a little after the chase. I then paused and... couldn't escape the pause screen. Yeah.
I hope other people try out your project though, it clearly had a good amount of effort put into it.
Interesting idea, but hoo boy, I spent so much time waiting around doing nothing, and wondering what I could do when the fleas ran out. Eventually I reset and figured out the best trick, but it was annoying running out of options.
@jvinaysar & @ascenial I thought the variable mix thing would be easy... but... nope, it took my younger brother 7 hours of torment...! My sound design was just me making wretched noises into a microphone. No seriously. Oh, and The Boys appreciate your compliment.
Thanks, both of you, and I respect what you both created, good time.
@eerongal I distinctly remember mentioning that to bro, but he completely forgot...! Good to hear from you, and your own entry kicked ass...! Unfortunately, punching the Boys isn't a safe option, they like their finger food...
@brain-siege-gameworks No rules against patching some of the shoddier bits of the project. Consider adding a reset, menu, provide an actual indicator so the player knows what button to press for the notebooks, etc. Just some quality of life things. Would be ideal for the itch.io build. When you're ready of course.
The music... I was not ready for entire themed songs about building and defending a marvellous meat fortress, but it certainly got me in the right frame of mind to fight off those vile meat and veggie hating critters.
For some reason, the game just began zooming in and making it impossible to see anything. I see what you were going for, but something clearly went wrong.
The announcer started sounding suspiciously like one of the rodents... He had to be one to be that appalled by me playing the game. So far I've played games involving shooting rabbits, punching squirrels and now burning hamsters. I should probably be kept away from animals...
