Man that art and character design is something else, well done! Music is super sweet too!

Is there a way to get a Linux build? The teaser looks like some awesome pixel art and I would like to give it a go :)

Also I'm not sure how your game plays with international keyboards, but it's a good idea to bind both y, z and w to the same key or not use it because these are swapped on a lot of european keyboards. Alternatively using x,c,v works well with QWERTY, QWERTZ and AZERTY aswell.

Oh you have to put some screenshots to your game which is awesome btw! Screenshots will drag people here!

Woah. A winner for me. The game has some awesome art. Also the audio was pretty nice. The game can use some levels, boss rush was awesome, but I really want to play some stages!

wildmusketeer 2017-05-02 20:08

Amazing game for 48 hours. The game is like a study in megaman boss fight design. All 5 bosses were pretty enjoyable--it was fun to figure out the pattern and then execute on killing the boss without getting damaged. (except the last boss...I can't seem to understand his fist pound, which seems to hit vertically?)

Both the graphics and audio evoke the megaman nostalgia. Design wise, I wish there were more variation in my arsenal, but the game's already pretty solid with its current mechanics. And yea like @ilikescifi mentioned, you should spice up this page for the attention that this game rightfully deserve! (your link isn't clickable btw).

Overall, amazing sidescroller shooter that can totally become a published game with some extra polish.

That art is !@#$ing ridiculously good. Unfortunately the game soft-locked after I died in stage 3. The game just went black and nothing happened. The boss fight designs are amazing, but they either need less health or more complexity to keep them from getting tedious and repetitive. That said, this is the most visually impressive entry I've seen yet.

docgeraud 2017-05-02 20:14

Nice art, really impressive. I liked the animation but I think the game would be better with a bit more juice (screenshakes, FXs, stuff like that). I still enjoyed my time on it.

Very good music and graphics, but I'm stuck with the second mutant form. He kills me in a few seconds and I don't know what to do. Also, when I loose the game the screen becomes black and that's all, no "game over" or return to the main menu. Is this a bug or just a non-implemented feature ?

The first mutant form remind me this pokémon ^^ donphan.jpg

Very fun action shooter with good atmosphere! The same boss following you through the environments was really a fun play on the idea, and the whole game felt very put together. I'll have to experiment more with the idea of leaving the armor, I didn't feel the need to really use it. I felt I was missing both a crouch button (just because I feel like it is common in these types of games) and the ability to shoot while jumping. However, none of this significantly took away from the experience. Thanks for your game!

zetashocker 2017-05-02 20:27

Thank you for the feedback so far, the game page has been updated with a couple of screenshots and the link has been made clickable.

Wow! The art and animation is incredible! I can't believe how much you managed to create in such a short time! You manage to create a really cool game mood and the music is awesome. I like the variety of the different bosses and I didn't realise that you could get out of your armor until a few rounds in which is a game changer.

While you manage to get a lot of good juice and cool game feel, I feel like you could ramp it up in some places since it does feel like you were going for a fast paced action game. Check out this cool video on game feel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJdEqssNZ-U&t=1509s <----There are some really cool tips and tricks there.

The character controls were also a little bit clunky, it was quite frustrating that you couldn't shoot in the air, that there was no strafing and sometimes it felt like the character would get stuck which could throw off timing for a dodge/jump.

Otherwise, you made an excellent game. Great job :D

First of all, the art in this entry is superb. The art style is gorgeous and the animations are fluid. I particularly like the first boss's rolling attack, which, as someone else already pointed out, looks like Donphan's rollout attack from the Pokemon anime. This is some of the best art I've seen in any Ludum Dare entry. Unfortunately, the lack of sound effects outside of the music really left the game feeling empty. Also, I think that the game feel needs to be worked on. It feels kind of restrictive not being able to shoot in mid air, especially when you have to jump around a lot to dodge attacks. The controls just feel unresponsive overall. Being able to get out of the armor suit was pretty cool, adding a layer of strategy to some encounters. However, many of the fights were very repetitive and didn't progress at all beyond the same pattern. I'll admit that I didn't make it past the third phase. After dying to it for the third time, I didn't want to have replay the previous two phases again to get another shot at it. That being said, the incredibly polished art really holds up the game. I don't want to sound overly negative; this game has a lot going for it and is definitely more complete and polished than many other Ludum Dare games. I'd say I had a good time playing this entry. Good job!

I loved the Megaman X feel this game has to it. The art is amazing for a 48-work and the fights are really fun. I pressed 'C' and another character appeared, is that player 2? Because if it is, I think it is amazing to have co-op jam games. The music is great but it needs sound effects to improve the overall feel.

Great job

Nice boss rush game, I get a turrican vibe from this, in particular with the music. I really like the variety of the bosses and how each stage transitions between one another. It would be nice to be able to multitask, like shooting while in the air or being able to turn and shoot instead of one at a time.

kirenio 2017-05-11 09:19

Great game! Reminded me of good old Contra hard Corps.

remco 2017-05-13 20:24

Not a novel concept ... but so, *so* well executed for a jam-game  (Well, except for the whole not being able to press 2 keys at the same time issue, but that's been mentioned several times already...)

A few random thoughts in no particular order: - Just as I was about to make a mental note of 'there should be a way to regain health', I noticed the regen. Nice! Just not explained... I can't decide if that's part of the charm of the game (and intentional) or if it actually *want* it to be explained. - During my second attempt (1st boss) I kept trying to jump on the similar looking vans that also pass by, since it looked that this might be possible. - The world in general is not explained, but since it clearly seems cohesive I actually like that. Makes you wonder what te story is and draws you in without overstaying its welcome, or feeling like it tries to hard. - When the first form 'dies', right before it falls into the hole in the road, it looked kind-of ... cute? I felt a bit sorry for it, but maybe I just have 'Shadow of the Colossus' on my mind lately

Wow! It goes without saying but the presentation here is amazing, the graphics are gorgeous and the music is really great. Love the intro "cutscene" too :P Lack of sound effects is a bummer though, that would've really helped gamefeel a lot. Gameplay is solid but a bit basic, though I did like how getting out of the robot was useful in the 3rd fight. Not sure if it was intentional but not being able to shoot in the air was a bit frustrating, especially in the 2nd fight. Checkpoints or healing would've helped too, I couldn't get past the 4th fight since I came in with low health. Regardless it's a great game, awesome work!

pschichtel 2017-05-15 17:40

The game looks great, but sadly there is no Linux version, so I can't play it. :(

puppetmaster 2017-05-15 21:45

Amazing art and thrilling music. This entry is very cool.Keep up the good work! Well done!

occultone 2017-05-16 06:30

The art really is the strongest part of this game, so much stuff to see made in so little time. Really awesome. I couldn't get past the 2nd fight due to frustration with the control scheme only accepting 1 input at a time. Jumping, shooting, and a bobbing enemy was just too aggravating.

baraa-marwan 2017-05-16 16:27
