Graphic is very cool !

jolo56 2021-04-27 17:21

Love the stetic

augcart 2021-04-27 17:23

The art is cool ! The mood of this game is nice. Pretty fun game :D

aroningi 2021-04-27 18:12

First of all, love the aesthetic and mood. I think that going deeper into hallucinations to progress, while making the game significantly harder, is a very cool concept which allows for some very fun and sometimes challenging platforming.

The game was pretty hard, mostly because I didn't bother with changing the keyboard layout, but it wasn't punishing so dying was never really that much of a deal. Overall this is a great game.

The only issue I had with it was the bug or glitch which kicked you off a moving platform and you couldn't really get back on it.

saltysa 2021-04-28 08:21

@nyanpierre @jolo56 @augcart Thank you so much for your kind comments! I'm glad you liked the game :D

saltysa 2021-04-28 10:14

@aroningi Thank you for your comment : it's nice to have another opinion on the level design and its dificulty. We'll keep on working on this game outside of the jam to add features we didn't have time to implement and fix a couple of bugs :)

pschichtel 2021-04-28 15:51

I'd like to play the game, but sadly there is neither a Linux nor a Web version :/

saltysa 2021-04-28 16:50

@pschichtel We are working on one :) We'll let you know when it's done

ansick 2021-04-28 17:49

I really enjoyed the art style! However I wasn't able to figure out the controls so I just kept "dying" and couldn't have the whole experience. Great job nonetheless!

learus 2021-04-28 19:57

This looked like a really interesting game. Sadly though, I wasn't able to play it because the controls were kinda messed up. D was right and then Q was left, S was go deep and Z was jump. I suppose itis a bug, since the first screen shows normal controls. It was really hard to get used to it and i kept dying, so I quit trying :( I will refrain from rating it yet, since it seems really cool. Hope you fix it if it is indeed a bug.

adonisdevs 2021-04-28 20:09

I like the interpretation of the theme, and the it is well executed! However, I did encounter a lot of platforming weirdness (such as sliding off of platforms) that made the game a lot harder and I eventually gave up. Nonetheless, well done :)

erilhir 2021-04-28 20:19

WOW ! It was... so disturbing and touching in the same time. I felt so bad for the girl each time she got hit. You have been successful in translating anguish and loneliness in just 10 min. The game was sometime hard (I was stuck at one moment because I died endlessly, I just re-run the game) but nothing insurmountable. Thank you for this little nugget !

saltysa 2021-04-28 20:27

@ansick @learus yeah we made the game using our azerty keyboards and noticed later that the game wasn't in qwerty! We are working to fix it, I'll let you know when it's fixed :) @adonisdevs Thank you for your nice comment! That's definetely something we'll have to improve upon

@erilhir Thank you so much for playing! We really wanted to communicate those emotions so your comment means a lot to us

merlinnsound 2021-04-28 20:48

I didn't really understand how the different layers are supposed to work. It's quite complex. My character disappeared suddenly.

hybitous 2021-04-28 21:56

I love the vibe of this game! The different layers of music and art really awesome! I think the level design is great, but if the player would jump just a little bit higher some frustration at hard jumps could be avoided. At some points I wished that I could switch to an higher level faster, though I get that the point is to calm down, so I wouldn't change the breathing time to much. I'm also very impressed on the result of the layer changes in the dialogue. It's crazy how one's perspective can change/manipulate the perception of meaning and intention. Definitely food for thought!

I played the WebGL Version and the controls seem to work on my QWERTZ keyboard layout. Though I feel like "W" is a bit unergonomic for jumping. Midgame I switch to my steam controller an mapped the controls to it, which helped me a lot. While writing this, I checked if you had controller support on my XBox controller and I noticed you can move and jump with the default Unity layout (Left-Stick + Y [though A would fit better, imho), but I couldn't switch layers. I'd love to see this with controller support to explore a longer journey

saltysa 2021-04-29 08:22

@pschichtel We now have a web version :) @ansick @learus We fixed the controls : it should be easier to play now

@merlinnsound Each layer changes the level : it can make platforms appear or disappear. You also have to keep an eye on ennemies, as their behaviour change depending on the layers. You'll have to change layers in order to advance in the game. We still have a few bugs (collisions mostly), sorry about that. We can't really fix it as it's not really gamebreaking so its against the jam rules but we'll keep working on this game outside of the jam

@hybitous Thank you for playing: I'm glad you liked the game! I agree that the jump on W isn't the most practical : we'll keep working on this game and we'll probably add controller support :)

pschichtel 2021-04-29 10:34

@saltysa thanks! I love the art style and music.

pat-cleaver 2021-04-29 16:41

wow what a pretty game! The gradually increasing weirdness from level to level is very well done (also in the audio). Really impressed by this (even though it was seriously hard at times)

minipeps 2021-04-29 16:44

I love the idea of changing dimensions to progress through the game! I got stuck under the world after arriving to the small town but it was a great experience up to this point  Good job!

dob 2021-04-29 17:08

Really great style of art and music. The different levels of psychosis, with different obstacles, level structures, and monsters, was fun and very creative, although it took a while to change states, so making progress could be a little random and slow. You also never knew if you'd be creating danger for yourself or not, although generally deeper=harder. I died so much and so often that a less obtrusive death screen would have been much appreciated, or maybe a health bar so I didn't have to watch it so much. Very creative take on a platform game and cool incorporation of the theme.

psiv 2021-04-29 17:10

The idea/concept with the layers adds a nice twist to the platforming gameplay, a really interesting take on the theme. I only got as far as the town because I fell down the hole and was just stuck off screen at the bottom, couldnt see the character. The qwerty/azerty problem is still there in the windows version too. I would be interested in playing this again when some of the bugs are fixed, it certainly has a lot of potential and you have done a great job with it.

kulfy 2021-04-29 19:09

Best game I've played so far from this Ludum edition. The music and the esthetics were great. And the highlighted words were a really nice touch.

A few questions / remarks though : - to get the cat picture below the village, you have to jump on a little platform : I tried with every layer but went through with each one ; not sure if a collision bug or I'm just missing something ? - when meeting the girl at the exit of the village, she says she's got something for us, but...nothing happens ? - I got stuck in a loop of death near the beginning of the game (the same @erilhir described sooner) : when you're at the highest level of anxiety, you can't get back fast to a lower level of anxiety. And the flying ennemy keeps rushing at you. Maybe respawning at a medium level of anxiety (and not the one where you died) would solve this issue ? - The immediate death when changing layer and popping on an ennemy was really punishing. Maybe a few invulnerability frames when changing layer ? Or just preventing from switching layer if this leads to an immediate death ?

Really nice job 👍

scratch 2021-04-29 20:28

@pat-cleaver @minipeps @dob @psiv @kulfy thanks so much for your feedbacks & kind words! We knew for some of these bugs but we weren't sure that it was allowed to correct them after the end of the Jam... And finishing in time was soooooo hard! We'll fix the problem with the hole in the village soon (since it stops people from advancing in the game it should be okay to fix it I think).

We really loved working on this game, so we'll keep on improving it after the event!

boxedmeatrevolution 2021-04-30 03:35

I tried to play the downloadable version, but it seems that the walk left and go deeper controls were swapped, and also jumping didn't work. I didn't rate yet, but I'll try again if this gets fixed.

ravengar 2021-04-30 06:59

That was a cool game :) I fal through the ground in teh cave, don't really know how fish.jpg

albertnez 2021-04-30 07:10

The idea looks really cool and new, but I had so issues while playing the game. I liked the idea a lot, so I really tried to restart and play it again, but even so I kept finding softblocks that made me stop playing the game:

1. In the first scene, I died in high level of hallucinations, and the checkpoint was right next to a hand. This meant that every time I respawned, there was a flying hand right next to me chasing me. I didn't have time to breath to calm it down. I couldn't escape in time and then breathe. I had to restart the game.

2. In the second scene, I pressed 'Q' to go deeper in hallucinations, but it seems I was at a spot where a platform appears, so it pushed me down through the wall and left me alive out of bounds. I had to restart the game.

3. In the second scene, there were some stairs that go up. I kept climbing, and when I jumped up the map, It transitioned to a scene with the town. However, I didn't have height, so the character got stuck down the well or pit, a bit like #2, so I was stuck there and I had to restart.

I still find the game great in some categories, the music, art, and idea are really on point for the mood the game tries to give. I'm looking forward to these issues being fixed, because the game looks promising and I'd like to try the game without these frustrations. If there's more updates, I'll definitely come back to play again. Still, well done!

hamblock 2021-04-30 07:17

that was a really interesting game, I did get stuck at a section at the start with a flying hand and I couldn't hold E for long enough to go back up a level. cool game but.

saltysa 2021-04-30 17:56

@boxedmeatrevolution : We corrected the downloable version! You should be able to play now 🙂

@ravengar : oops that didn't happen to any of us yet! We added a respawn function : you just have to press R to respawn to the latest chackpoint

@albertnez : Thanks for playing! I'll be adressing each point you made 1/ We changed the respawn point for this part : you should now be safe from this death loop. 2/ We added a respawn button! If you're oob you can press R and it should bring you back to the latest checkpoint 🙂 3/ We now kill the player if he's stuck at the bottom of the pit, so now you'll respawn on top of it Thank you so much for your detailed review

@hamblock : We changed the respawn point for this area! You should be out of reach of the flying hand now 🙂

duck-reaction 2021-04-30 21:04

Great game! Interesting mechanic that fits with the theme. The music, visuals, animations create a good mood in this creepy and deadly world, your universe reminds me "Medievil 2" on PS1 by th way  I did understand first for the hiding place (add feedback could be better), but your level design leads player and encourage them to focus on one challenge so it works and I finally get it. I also like how your design encourage you to be curious, with some surprises or visible choices. I think the final result is pretty balanced, you didn't focus on just gameplay, and that's another reason why you made an enjoyable experience! I think control could be better with some tweaking, adding game feel layer (more juicy) specifically on jump, that's really important for a plate-former but for a game jam, it's great job, well done!

saltysa 2021-04-30 21:37

@duck-reaction Thank you so much for playing! I agree that the feedback isn't clear enough for the hiding place, and we definetly have a lot of things to improve. I'm glad you enjoyed the experience despite all this :) I totally forgot about Medievil but now that I see the game cover I'm almost certain I had this game when I was a child! Thanks for the trip down memory lane

emiliabea 2021-05-01 21:52

You did a really good job here, I like that I really had to think about my choices and not just jump around. I definitely was more determined to find the right way out and played for a while. I thought your take on the theme made for pretty creative mechanics and your losing screen was pretty nicely made to the point where it wasn't bugging me everytime I lost. Sometimes these things can get repetitive, but you found a good balance with it. The game was too large for my screen though and I didn't see a fullscreen option so this is a downside but the actual final product is good.

saltysa 2021-05-01 22:00

@emiliabea Thank you for your review, I'm glad you liked the game ! Yeah I dont know how to make the screen smaller on the itchio page but I found that pressing F11 allowed you to see the full game :)

asdehielo 2021-05-01 22:07

Cool game. Nice graphics, interesting mechanic, good music, and you really made me feel scared for the character.

I had a problem with it tho: I never knew how "deep" should I be to overcome each obstacle. I feel like there wasn't really any indication, specially later on.

I managed to complete it anyway. Very enjoyable game!

lrvstudios 2021-05-01 22:34

deepBreath.gif What a beautiful game, in all aspects!

What a unique way to bring up the theme, with nice mechanics, well explained, incredible graphics and a lot of heart! One of the most valuable experiences I had in this gameJam.

Thank you guys for making this great game, and share it with us.

dan-mcalister 2021-05-01 22:44

Great work! This is really ambitious for a jam project, and you've accomplished a lot! I liked the art and audio, and transitioning through emotional states is a really interesting mechanic.

At the same time, I felt that the fast moving enemies cut against the more somber mood of the piece. Things that move fast convey a high-energy feeling, but the rest of the atmosphere was more somber and melancholy, which feel low-energy to me. I think my entry had a similar issue; luckily, it's usually one that's not too difficult to tweak.

You've got a lot to be proud of here, keep up the good work!

aditya-dave 2021-05-01 23:57

That was a beautiful game. Seemed to capture the theme with a lot of sensitivity and great artwork. I did find it quite challenging and couldn't progress beyond a point, but I enjoyed what I did play. With continued development and slightly improved responsiveness of controls, this could be a great full game!

6smith 2021-05-02 02:04

liked the idea and the art! i did manage to get stuck in a loop of spawning / dying where i didnt have time to press E long enough to make the thing attacking me go away tho :(

mighty-mufflon-games 2021-05-02 08:12

The concept and the mechnics are awesome. Very clever puzzle design with this hallucinating and breathing thing. Also the graphics and the music (change) convince me, but I got a kind of game breaker here, 'cause I was unable to use my breath anymore.

breath.jpg

Great entry.

paulloz 2021-05-02 10:52

Nice game idea, I like the basic concept. Graphics are cute and the audio fits the ambiance. I have some issues with readability (greyish-brown hazards on greyish-brown background don't stand out enough for me), and platforming (controls aren't tight enough for a platformer: the jump isn't particularly enjoyable, pressing E while moving makes you glide along the floor, etc.). Good work overall, that's a cool jam entry that could be cleaned-up easily in the future.

doot 2021-05-06 13:59

Nice game!

5/5 graphics and mood, I absolutely love your style and your game atmosphere 💕 The game is full of good ideas and the main mechanic is nice. The platforming mechanics could have been better, but that is very hard to do and almost impossible to get right in such short time.

Great job and thanks for the game!

100th-coin 2021-05-15 20:05

Wow! I love the artwork, both environment and the absolutely adorable character! The hands are just so eerie and creepy! I tried collecting all the... posters(?) as I could. or maybe they're pictures of cats. I'm not sure. In any case, I tried for quite a while, but was unable to get this one:

ld_how.PNG

Anyway, the game is amazing! The music a fantastic, and I know I already said it but it needs to be said again, the artwork is outstanding. I absolutely love the main character. Great job!

noobdude 2021-05-16 10:29

The game is amazing, i loved the ideea of going deeper and having to calm yourself, the game feels pretty good to play but that atmosphere and how everything changes around you and new paths are opening i loved it. Good job!
